“ Whathave you learnt
  about technologies
  from the process of
   constructing this
                “
       product?
              Question 6.
This is how I constructed the first draft of the cover my magazine. I used
Photoshop to create it. I did not know how to use Photoshop before creating
this magazine so it took a bit of getting used to. I learnt how to remove the
back ground on photos using Photoshop. I also learnt how to edit the photos
using the ‘spot healing tool’ to remove the shine from the faces of people in the
photos. I also learnt how to use the ‘blur’ tool around the edges of photos to
reduce the sharpness of it so that it looked like the background was the
background used when the photo was taken. I also learnt how to put text onto
the photos and I learnt that only certain fonts would look affective on a
magazine cover. The fonts had to look affective but they still had to be
readable. After going on Photoshop enough times, I learnt how to use the
majority of the tools to make the photos look professional and like what real
magazine photos would look like.
I also learnt how to take professional looking photos by using an appropriate
backdrop, setting up lights in the most appropriate way, and making the model
pose in the most appropriate way. I learnt that I had to take lots of photos so
that I had more of a choice when it came to choosing the photos I would use in
my magazine.
Another thing I learnt was to make lots of different drafts of the front
cover, contents page and double page spread. This is so I could develop them
and make sure I made the best products possible by combining ideas from each
draft and developing these ideas. This helped me as I could make my magazine
cover, contents and double page spread better and find different ways to
improve the previous drafts.
