Delusion represents particular social groups through its portrayal of gender and disability. It focuses on the relationship between Summer, who has schizophrenia, and the nurse that exists only in her mind. This represents Summer's disability and shows how someone of the same gender can influence her. Lighting is used to express Summer's feelings and state of mind. The film represents females as weak or the source of fear, while the only male character committed suicide, unable to save Summer from her own mind. While some stereotypes are used, like needing to be saved, others are subverted by having the "bad guy" be female rather than male.

3. Delusion
Delusion fits mostly into the categories of gender and disability.
This is because the storyline mostly focuses on the relationship
between the nurse and Summer. Because, the nurse only exists
in Summers head it portrays her disability of schizophrenia.
However it also shows the power someone of the same gender
can have over person as Summer is fearing that she is being
hunted by a nurse when in actual fact the nurse is just there to
look after her.
The last few seconds of the clip show that Summers
schizophrenia has taken control and is changing reality.

4. Expressionism (lighting; colour)
Delusion uses lighting to express what the character is feeling.
For example when Summer is sleeping the room is dark as she
has just had the nightmare about Toms suicide.
Then when she wakes up she turns on a light.
The light signifies that Summer has started to think about her
happy memories of Tom.
Light then signifies going from the memory of Tom into the
messed up images in Summers head. They walk from in the light
into the dark.

5. Delusion
Represents females in three ways:
One (Summer) as someone who is weak and fearful and at
breaking point, where as the other female character in the clip is
the fear she sees. Also, the therapist in this clip is the only person
who is portrayed as sane.
The only male in the film also has two ways that he has been
represented. The first is that he too is weak and has committed
suicide to escape his problems. The second is that he was
Summers lover, supporter and strength.

6. Stereotypes
In some ways Delusion uses subversion of Stereotypes for
example, women in films using need saving, so delusion does
support this as summer needs to be saved from her own mind.
However, it is normally a male who would save her and in
Delusion the only male cant save her as he is already dead (he
triggered Summers schizophrenia). Another stereotype in
Delusion is that we use a female as a nurse as this is classed as
the norm.
However it also, goes against stereotypes as the ‘bad guy’ is
actually a female and that they wear white rather
than black. We did this to show that, not all bad
things are dark and curl, some do have good
intentions but, are interpreted wrong.

7. Iconography In Delusion
Some types of iconography in psychological thrillers are: shadows
as they help to create tension, confined spaces as they make the
audience believe that the character is trapped and unable to
escape. A famous iconography is on the psychological thriller
‘Psycho’ when the use of running water is used to show that the
female has been drained of life.
In Delusion Summer never experiences been trapped in confined
spaces but, she is mentally trapped in her own brain. Delusion
also uses blood to build tension in the clip.

8. How we constructed the representation of
Delusion
Delusion was constructed by using a variety of shots and camera
angles. This high angle over the shoulder shot is used to
establish that Summers memory is not as strong as Summers
mind relaying images that don’t exist.
