Q.2 how does your media product represent particular social groups?
The male character in our film is very dark and mysterious, he is never fully shown in a shot
and his identity is kept secret, this is typical of a media product. I would compare the male
character in our opening sequence to the male character in “Halloween” with both characters
face covered with a mask. From the opening scenes there is not much information given
about the characters but right from the start you know they are very dangerous, also you don’t
see much of the characters and a very uneasy atmosphere is presented. The sequence is
extremely gender stereotypical with the male character being the antagonist and the weak
innocent female being the victim in the horror genre.
O.3what kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
With our opening sequence being based on a urban myth there is not many that relate to the
slender man. With that being the case I think this could be a film produced by a Hollywood
studio and be released to a range of cinemas across the world. The sequence/film would open
opportunities for merchandise with the slender man’s costume released for fancy dress
purposes and the DVD release.
