How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary text?
Title + title design

The main titles we had (Contingency plan & Coming soon ) stuck with the same font on the
poster, magazine and the teaser trailer. This font is called Bebas Neue. This has help to
create a stronger brand identity, and we wanted any main title for example the ones you see
around the page to have the same font. We did this with the magazine cover as well which
may not follow the exact conventions of the magazine we did (which was empire magazine).
Empire magazine always use there own fonts and ones that are different from the marketing
campaign of a film, however when making our magazine we didn’t follow this conventions
which looking back is something we could of done, but we wanted to keep a strong brand
identity.
We also decided to keep with the same titles as well. The two titles we kept with was the
name of our film "Contingency Plan" and when the film was to be released "Coming Soon |
2014"
Motif/iconography

There were two main props we used in both the poster, magazine and the teaser trailer. This was the mask and the gun. We wanted
them to be the key things you see in all three campaigns and so you see them in the poster, magazine and teaser trailer. On the
poster we have our character wearing the mask and pointing the gun at the camera. Although the gun is sort of blurry, it is still one of
the main things you see in the poster. We have also used idea in our magazine. The gun is one of the biggest objects on the
magazine, and covers a part of the M but however isn't blurry this time so you can see it clearly this time.
The mask is also a big part of the marketing campaign. It appears in all three however the mask is less significant in the magazine as
it appears on the characters head. However the mask is very significant on the teaser trailer and the poster. Just like the gun, the
mask is a big part of the poster as our character is wearing it and is one of the main things you will see on the poster. It also plays a
big part in the teaser trailer aswell focus on the mask a lot because we want to create a sort of mystery to what part the mask will
play in the film
Character/Main image

The character is all three of the marketing campaigns stays the same. However even though
we used the same character in the poster and magazine, the pose and the way he was
positioned it completely different. We wanted to be consistent with the images we used but we
didn't want to just copy the picture from the poster to the magazine as we felt it would be too
repetitive and wouldn't go with the conventions of the magazine/poster.
Target Audience

We wanted all three of our products to be aimed at the same target audience which for us was
17+ males that like watching action films. We wanted to use things that you would normally
see in a action movie. So we thought of the gun and the mask.
Billing Board Information

The information that is on the billing board had to be the same as the information on the magazine and the teaser trailer. The
names of the actors and the actors that were staring in the film had to be the same otherwise this wouldn't follow the
conventions. Even though they are both on the poster, the actors names needed to be the same otherwise it wouldn't look
professional. We also had to keep the release date the same so for us we just needed to keep "Coming Soon | 2014" the same.
The companies that were involved had to stay the same as well, the production company we decided to make up so we had to
include that everywhere necessary.
In order for us to follow the conventions of a poster and to get full marks, we had to make sure that the information on the billing
was in the correct order so for example if the producer would go first etc. To do this we looked up various action movie posters
and has a look at the order they use.

We did this with the magazine cover as well which may not follow the exact conventions of the magazine we did (which was empire magazine). Empire magazine always use there own fonts and ones that are different from the marketing campaign of a film, however when making our magazine we didn’t follow this conventions which looking back is something we could of done, but we wanted to keep a strong brand identity. We also decided to keep with the same titles as well. The two titles we kept with was the name of our film "Contingency Plan" and when the film was to be released "Coming Soon | 2014"
  • 3. Motif/iconography • • There were two main props we used in both the poster, magazine and the teaser trailer. This was the mask and the gun. We wanted them to be the key things you see in all three campaigns and so you see them in the poster, magazine and teaser trailer. On the poster we have our character wearing the mask and pointing the gun at the camera. Although the gun is sort of blurry, it is still one of the main things you see in the poster. We have also used idea in our magazine. The gun is one of the biggest objects on the magazine, and covers a part of the M but however isn't blurry this time so you can see it clearly this time. The mask is also a big part of the marketing campaign. It appears in all three however the mask is less significant in the magazine as it appears on the characters head. However the mask is very significant on the teaser trailer and the poster. Just like the gun, the mask is a big part of the poster as our character is wearing it and is one of the main things you will see on the poster. It also plays a big part in the teaser trailer aswell focus on the mask a lot because we want to create a sort of mystery to what part the mask will play in the film
  • 4. Character/Main image • The character is all three of the marketing campaigns stays the same. However even though we used the same character in the poster and magazine, the pose and the way he was positioned it completely different. We wanted to be consistent with the images we used but we didn't want to just copy the picture from the poster to the magazine as we felt it would be too repetitive and wouldn't go with the conventions of the magazine/poster.
  • 5. Target Audience • We wanted all three of our products to be aimed at the same target audience which for us was 17+ males that like watching action films. We wanted to use things that you would normally see in a action movie. So we thought of the gun and the mask.
  • 6. Billing Board Information • • • The information that is on the billing board had to be the same as the information on the magazine and the teaser trailer. The names of the actors and the actors that were staring in the film had to be the same otherwise this wouldn't follow the conventions. Even though they are both on the poster, the actors names needed to be the same otherwise it wouldn't look professional. We also had to keep the release date the same so for us we just needed to keep "Coming Soon | 2014" the same. The companies that were involved had to stay the same as well, the production company we decided to make up so we had to include that everywhere necessary. In order for us to follow the conventions of a poster and to get full marks, we had to make sure that the information on the billing was in the correct order so for example if the producer would go first etc. To do this we looked up various action movie posters and has a look at the order they use.
