Our character's costume in the film does not conform to typical indie attire, though it shares some similarities with the film "Super". While not wearing converse or skinny jeans normally associated with indie films, our character wears a balaclava like in "Super". The costume looks silly with a hat, fingerless gloves, and heavy boots. Masculinity is a main factor linking the films, as both contain weapons and combat-like costumes traditionally associated with men. The balaclavas, use of weapons, and male voiceover emphasize masculinity over femininity.

1. Our character in our film doesn’t really conform to the stereotypical look of an indie person in an
indie film. He isn’t wearing anything like converse or skinny jeans or anything, what he is wearing is
seem in some indie films though; for example, the balaclava our character wears in this is used in a
similar way to the film in ‘Super’.
As you can see from this picture, this costume doesn’t really conform to the typical indie attire but it
is similar to ours as he is wearing a type of balaclava. He is also looks a bit silly in the film ‘Super’ and
in our film opening, our character does too. He is wearing a silly hat, fingerless gloves and big, heavy
boots.

2. Masculinity is the main factor comparing these two different films as they are both heavily loaded
with things that we would usually associate with men such as weapons,. There is a variety of
weapons used in our film and in Super, there is only one but it is a wrench and they are considered a
manly tool as stereotypically, men are supposed to be better at fixing things than women. The
combat likeness of the costume is also a masculine thing to include because they both have
balaclavas on. Women usually wouldn’t be seen wearing balaclavas because of their feminity (hair,
makeup, etc) so for both of these men masculinity is used. The male voice of our film also provides a
masculine effect as if it was a girl doing the voice over, it would have taken away from the
masculinity dramactically.
