This document discusses EVALTM, a gas barrier resin made of ethylene and vinyl alcohol copolymer, and its uses in hermetic bags and agricultural films. EVALTM provides excellent oxygen barrier properties compared to other materials like LDPE, oriented PET, and oriented nylon. It can be used in multilayer structures with LDPE to greatly reduce the oxygen transmission rate. EVALTM films are also beneficial for fumigation and silage applications as they increase fumigation efficiency and can lead to higher crop yields with lower fumigant costs when used in totally impermeable film structures.
