The European Parliament has 751 seats and meets in both Strasbourg, France and Brussels, Belgium. It has legislative and oversight powers over the EU executive branch. Members are elected every 5 years by universal suffrage and sit according to their political ideology. There are two main courts in the EU - the Court of Justice and the General Court. The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy coordinates the EU's external action and represents the EU on the international stage.
