Europe India Leaders Conference 2022, the 25th conference of our business meet series, was held over two days with two sessions on 28th June 2022 - the morning session at Eurochambres and the afternoon session at the European Parliament in Brussels, as well as an industry visit to Wallonia on 29th June 2022. The conference is part of EICBI’s EUIndia60 campaign to celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations between India and the EU. ​On 28th June, the summit focused on the operational challenges faced by small-scale businesses when they pursue their activities in India, and the EU and speakers shared their expertise on the financial, legal, marketing and sales challenges faced by companies while pursuing activities in the respective regions. About 20 speakers shared their knowledge on the 1st day of the summit, which was held at Eurochambres and the European Parliament. Nearly 100 organisations that work in policy, technology, manufacturing, education, Healthcare and other sectors attended the conference. ​ On 29th June, Indian delegates were taken to a place called Wallonia to experience seeing EU companies in action and directly engaging in interactions with experts on the factory floor.

Parliament. The EUIndia60 Legends Coffee Table Book shares the story of 60 legends who have
shaped #EUIndia relations over the past 60 years

Europe India Leaders Conference 2022, the 25th conference of our business meet series, was
held over two days with two sessions on 28th June 2022 - the morning session at
Eurochambres and the afternoon session at the European Parliament in Brussels, as well as an
industry visit to Wallonia on 29th June 2022. The conference is part of EICBI’s EUIndia60

During the session at the European Parliament, the EUIndia60 Legends coffee table book, an
initiative of EICBI, was released. It is a collection of 60 legends who shaped EU-India
relations as we see them today. Mr Soren Gade released the #EUIndia60Legends Coffee
Table book in the presence of the Member of the European Parliament from Germany,
Ms Svenja Hahn, alongside Mr Shishir Bajoria from IIM Shillong and Mr Deepak Bagla from
Invest India at the European Parliament. The list comprises diverse individuals from diverse
ambits - former and current Heads of States, ambassadors, businessmen, diplomats, critical
players in cultural diplomacy and the arts and even figures from the sciences and education
sectors hailing from India, the UK, and the EU countries. #EUIndia60 legends include 48
men and 12 women from 18 nationalities.

Awareness, Hub. Brussels spoke
The summit's morning session was
held at Eurochambres in Brussels,
which was hosted by EBTC (European
Business and Technology Centre).
The session commenced with a
welcome address by Mr Vincent van
Noord, Director – Europe, European
Business and Technology Centre,
followed by opening remarks by Ms
Smita Sirohi, Trade Advisor, Embassy
of India, Belgium. Mr Dominic
Boucsein, Head of International Trade
about India-EU Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy Partnership and
the opportunities for Indian SMEs. The next speaker was Mr Joel Fernandes,
Associated Director European Business and Technology Centre, who shared
his insights on Sustainability and Renewable Technology Sectors as the
Priority Areas for Europe-India Collaboration. Ada Dyndo, Principal
Consultant, Europe European Business and Technology Centre, coordinated
the proceeding during the morning session.

4. PROGRAMME SUMMARY
The first-panel discussion, moderated
by Ms Stefania Benaglia, Associate
Researcher at the Centre for European
Policy Studies, focused on the
evolution of EU-India trade relations
concerning the current geopolitical
context. It also touched upon critical
milestones and untapped potential in
nurturing stronger ties in various
ambits. Panellists included Members
of the European Parliament, Mr Soren
Gade, Ms Svenja Hahn and Mr
Sandro Gozi, alongside Mr Shishir.
The afternoon session started with a
tour of the European Parliament,
where delegates had the opportunity to
network with colleagues and
contemporaries working in related
fields. This was followed by three-
panel discussions, with panellists
sharing their experiences and expertise
in building brands and financial, legal
and marketing opportunities and
challenges in the EU and Indian
market.

addressed different approaches to building a brand and accessing markets in

The third-panel discussion discussed
legal considerations and financing
Foundation and Mr Raj Vangapandu, President, German Varsity for Advanced
Studies.
Following the last panel discussion, the conference at the European Parliament
concluded with a networking session. Delegates had the opportunity to
network with one another and take photos on the European Parliament
premises. This session at the European Parliament was the primary session of
the conference and had participation from around 90 entrepreneurs, business
leaders and policymakers from the EU, UK and India.

6. PROGRAMME SUMMARY
In Wallonia, delegates had the
opportunity to visit two organisations.
These two organisations, A6K and
E6K (Ecole 6000) are sister
organisations and laboratories for
industrial and technological renewal
in Charleroi, Wallonia. The visit was
organised for the delegates to interact
and engage with professionals from
the EU.
A6K is a multidisciplinary centre that
collocates industrial companies,
As part of our efforts to provide a first-
hand experience to our delegates on
launching and expanding their business
in the European Union, EICBI took
delegates to visit a place called
Wallonia, which is around 50 km from
Brussels, on 29th June. A bus was
arranged to pick up the delegates from
a designated area in Brussels, and after
an hour's journey, the delegates
reached Wallonia.
