This document discusses the fabrication of porous three-dimensional scaffolds from poly(3-hydroxybutyric acid) (PHB) and poly(3-hydroxybutyric-co-3-hydroxyvaleric acid) (PHBV) with improved thickness as cell growth supporting materials. Specifically, it produced PHB and PHBV scaffolds with thicknesses greater than 4 mm for use in tissue engineering applications. The scaffolds were characterized and evaluated for their ability to support growth of Acute Myeloid Leukemia cells over 14 days, demonstrating their potential as biomimetic scaffolds for culturing leukemia cells ex vivo.
