Simplicity is key in life as in successful email marketing. Designing and delivering the perfect
mail might seem daunting, but it gets much easier with the fundamentals ensuring that
those email messages will get opened, read, and acted on. Experts offer these tips for
winning email campaigns in no time.
Focus on a single message
Have one goal in mind when sending an email message, and this goal should be displayed
right at the start of the message to start engaging the reader. Be clear about this goal from
the beginning: do you want to welcome new subscribers, boost engagement, or segment
your subscribers? Every element in the email—whether it’s about a new product launch, a
special deal, or introducing the company to a new prospect—should support the message’s
main and overarching goal.
Know your audience
Those who are just starting out in email marketing might worry about this, but they can
make an educated guess to target their content more accurately. Once the subscribers’
information comes in, there will also be real data to work with. Know your audience through
several tools, such as from gathering data from Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, and
others that show demographics, location, and interests, to name a few.
Make your messages short and sweet
Use short subject lines to make it easy for the recipient to know who the sender is. Make the
copy focused, informal, and easy to process. After its writing, review the draft and trim it
down to essential information that will attract readers.
Simplify design – but keep it engaging
The layout should be easy to follow and should incorporate a strong call to action. Integrate
graphics and images that complement the copy and send the message. Make the design
elements consistent with brand guidelines so that the campaigns are easily identifiable with
the company.
