This document summarizes research analyzing the class relationship graphs of four Smalltalk systems. The researchers found that the degree distributions of the graphs follow power laws rather than a Poisson distribution, indicating the graphs have scale-free properties like many real-world networks. They conclude the object-oriented structures of the Smalltalk systems exhibit heavy-tailed distributions and regularities in their characteristic exponents. Further work is proposed to correlate graph properties with software quality and develop growth models of software graphs.
