First impressions always last. That is why you need to
make the right mark on your first day at work. The first
day in the office is often the one that could make any
person excited or nervous. Now that you are all set to
put your best foot forward make sure to remember some
of the key points to reduce the anxiety levels.

day at work and reduce
the jitters.

Professional attire:
Power dressing is a term coined, not just for fun. Dressing
like a professional on your first day at work will be going to
add up a spring in your step. The way you carry yourself
will create with an impression of your personality.

“Anticipate commuting time:
Always keep a buffer of around 15 minutes for the sudden delays. Use mobile
apps to track the traffic on your route and find the most suitable one.
You can always check the Google Maps for the live updates or even opt for the
mobile app relevant to your city.

Prepare an introduction:
On the very first day of your work, you might get an opportunity to
meet some of the major people in the office. Make sure that you plan
the perfect pitch to introduce yourself. Include the events and stories
that display your achievement and skills in brief.

Carry important documents:
It is must o carry all your documents if you have not
submitted them already at the time of signing the contract.
Keep a file ready with your original documents, passport
size photos, photocopies, and some other essentials.

Make connections:
A controlled and friendly attitude is
one of the best ways to begin your
first day at work. Interact with your
colleagues. You can ask about their
job roles or even inquire about your
responsibilities. Moreover,
remember that not to step into the
personal zone. Most essentially,
keep a smile on your face and
exude confidence.
Learn about the company:
Make sure to do some of the research
work about the company; look at their
current achievements and success
stories. Learn how your department has
scored in the last couple of months. This
will help to prepare you to have an
intelligent conversation at the workplace.
It is essential to ask the right questions
that display your commitment levels to
know more about the company.

Keep organized:
Your first day at work will also bring you in contact with the multiple
people from your groups or team across the organization. It is essential to
stay organized from the first day itself.
Make sure that you write down information, make it relevant to-do lists,
and jot out the questions. You will also need to attend different orientation
sessions as well as the training. Display your eagerness for the same and be
meticulous in your approach.

Avoid office gossip:
Taking part in the office rumors and gossips is a strict no-no.
Indulging in such a type of activity can hamper your growth as
an employee within the organization. Not only is gossip
distasteful, as it also reflects your level of thinking. If someone
in your team discusses something that sounds like gossip, then
you can simply focus on your system or choose to take a coffee
break. If you are even asked for your opinion, then you can
politely refuse to discuss further.
