Preschool Teacher Reflection
The questions I must say were very interesting regarding the age level I currently work with, being
that I work with preschoolers. My results I wouldn't say surprised me, but rather gave me a better
logic understanding of what I do in matters of teaching, though I have work I the preschool setting
for the last ten years, it wasn't until the last four years I really had a chance to design my own
lesson and teaching strategies. When I think back on my elementary, middle, and high school
years I think that we learned the basic skills to prepare us for college. Back in the nineties, I don't
think internet, for example was really used in schools. It was more about researching topics for
paper reports by reading books and having interviews with people. While now we turn to look
online for all the answers and questions. But now as a preschool teacher in the 21st century, we turn
to technology to show images from all around the world. So yes, I think we do use 21st skills to
teach our students. Personally, I think it is important to teach and show the students how their
environment can affect or help their education. "Teachers must find equitable strategies to make the
content accessible to students who often have considerable variation in their language abilities,
background knowledge, and learning styles" (Blankstein, Noguera, & Kelly, 2016, p. 164). An
important reflection I think in this discussion is that our environment though it can show where we
came from, our skills learned

Becoming a teacher can be an exciting and challenging experience for anyone. It can be quite
difficult to put four years of knowledge into their teaching and into a classroom environment. And
while it may seem challenging at first it does become easier over time.
A teacher is not only someone who teaches, but they are a symbol of learning.
A teacher is a person who plays the most important role in the development of any student. The future
of those students depends on the qualities and the dedication of that teacher. It is the teacher who
creates an interest in students to develop and to progress. It is the teacher who helps the students
achieve whatever aims they set for themselves.
Teachers have a lot to do with motivating...show more content...
The curriculum then becomes more relevant, therefore the motivation for the students to accomplish
the tasks increases.
The subject matter not only has to be relevant but it also has to be stimulating to the students'
curiosity. If a student is bored with the content, they are not going to want to learn it.
The classroom also has to be seen as a caring and supportive place with a sense of belonging. Every
student must feel respected, valued and heard. Giving children the support for learning by
welcoming their questions and encouraging exploration is very important for teachers to do.
Extrinsic motivators are sometimes used when teachers have a student or class who feels like they
have earn't something for their hard work. This could be things such as stickers or stamps on their
homework and tests. Or it could be receiving verbal or written praise. It could be just the thing that
motivates certain students. But not all students need to be extrinsically motivated. Teachers need to
find out which type of motivation works best for which student to help them succeed.
Classroom teaching is more likely to be effective when it is informed by an understanding of how
students learn. Constructivism is the current approach to learning in Australian schools today.
Constructivism is how each student goes about constructing his or her own knowledge. This type of

Elementary School Teaching Essay
Elementary School Teaching Elementary School Teacher
Elementary school teachers teach pupils at levels kindergarten through sixth grade or, in some cases,
through eighth grade a wide range of academic, social, emotional, and motor skills. They plan and
present programs of instruction using methods and materials to meet the needs of the students. In
order for all this to happen though, Elementary School Teachers must have a passion for educating
as well as love children.
Education requires dedication, organization, and thought out lesson plans on a daily basis. To ensure
that the students get top–notch education, teachers attend staff meetings, serve on committees, and
attend workshops or in–service training activities....show more content...
Although many teachers usually work alone in a class with a group of students, an increasing
number of schools are now providing teacher aides who are supervised by the teacher, assist with
clerical tasks, lunch and playground activities. About one public Elementary School Teacher in
six is a member of a teaching team in which two or more teachers work closely teacher. An
example of is would be when I was in fifth grade. My teacher, who graded, inspired, and taught me
was Mr. Dekire. But Mrs. Biro team taught with Mr. Dekire and it would be like Mrs. Biro would
do lectures and Mr. Dekire would do group work. This cuts down on the amount of work one
person must have accomplished for the student. As a future teacher, I would hope to have an aide.
Therefore, I would have more time for lesson planning and organizing the class. Not to mention, I
would have more time socially to relax. Public Elementary Teachers in Michigan spend an average
of 36 hours per week in the classroom and an additional 9 or so hours grading papers, attending
meetings, keeping records, making reports, and supervising after–school activities. With an aide, I
feel those 9 hours would cut down dramatically for the teacher.
The nature of work for Elementary School Teachers is that they play a vital role in the development
of children. What children learn and experience during their early years can shape their views of
humanity, and affect future success or failure in school, work, and their

Personal Statement For Teaching Mathematics
As a prospective mathematics teacher, I want to make thinking visible to my students. I want them to
be able to express their ideas and be able to elaborate on their answers. Two types of thinking I would
like to promote in my classroom are critical and creative thinking because mathematics is a subject
that involves both when it comes to problem solving. Critical and creative thinking promote higher
levels of student engagement and involves opportunities to investigate skills and concepts in a much
wider setting. I want to teach mathematics in a way that has meaning and relevance, rather than
through boring isolated topics. A classroom with a critical and creative thinking environment
provides opportunities for higher–level thinking within authentic and meaningful contexts, complex
problem solving, open–ended responses, and cooperation and interaction. Many students see math as
right or wrong and they don't question or explore more. As a future math teacher, I want students to
learn to question, be critical, and be creative. I want my future students to feel engage in exploration
and investigation. I want to equip my students with higher levels of thinking and engagement and
make mathematics more relevant and meaningful. According to the book "Making Thinking Visible"
students who are engaged in their work are motivated by four essential goals: success, curiosity,
originality, and relationships. Teaching mathematics through critical and creative thinking allows us

When choosing ones profession there are always two important questions to ask yourself. Is it
what you love doing, and is the pay going to be enough to support you. For me the second
question has never had much of an impact on my decision, along with most others who are
educators or wish to become one. Teaching is not a job that one chooses to be rewarded by the
pay. It is a job that is chosen for the rewarding feeling of knowing that it is the most effective, and
most enjoyable way one can change the world; therefore, if teachers are noble enough to sacrifice
such a huge aspect just to better our future generations, then don't you think they should be paid what
they deserve?
I believe educators are one of the most important careers out...show more content...

Research salaries in Michigan shows that Michigan kindergarten teachers without special education
earn a yearly average of $51,550. Michigan elementary school teachers without special education
make an average yearly income of $57,410. Middle school teachers in Michigan except special
education, career and technical education make an average of $56,230. Michigan secondary school
teachers, except special, career and technical education make a yearly average of $57,150.
Teachingdegree.org provides that Michigan post secondary educators can make an average yearly
income anywhere from $67,670 to $99,730.
The low pay for our educators is causing many negative effects. New York Times shows that the low
income is causing sixty–two percent of teachers to have a second job outside of their teaching jobs.
Just to have enough money to support their families and make ends meet. Most everyone decides to
college to prevent having these struggles with money, and to avoid having to work multiple jobs,
when they get older; however, not when it comes to living off of only a teacher's income, the
struggles to have enough money are interminable. This low pay is also causing most teachers to
retire, and find new jobs. New York Times states, "every year 20 percent of teachers in urban
districts quit. Nationwide, 46 percent of teachers quit before their fifth year. The turnover costs the

Compare And Contrast Traditional Teaching Styles
No teachers are similar as well as no students learn in the same way. Every teacher has their own
unique teaching style which is based on their educational philosophy, their classroom's demographic,
what subject area they teach, and the school's mission statement. Up until now, teachers are looking
for a system that will engage students in the educational process and will develop the students'
critical thinking skills. Moreover, teachers want the classroom to be in order and in control, but they
also want their students to appreciate the learning procedure. These teaching styles can be divided
into two approaches – the teacher–centered and learner–centered.
Traditional teaching styles use teacher–centered approach. It includes a teacher that stands at the
front and tells students step by step instructions. The teacher decides what is learned, when it is
learned, how it is learned, and how learning is evaluated. In a nutshell, the teacher is an information
giver and evaluator. The students are just there to learn through lessons and direct instructions. Their
attention is mainly focused on passing tests, assessments, and evaluations.
Through the years, many successful people have came from the traditional setting. The earliest
recorded occurrence of education proved that people learned in a...show more content...

of autonomy in the learning process as they act as a source of experiences. In addition, as the

process. The students will soon realize that mistakes are natural in life and it will serve as stepping

Persuasive Essay On Teachers Pay
Teachers Pay Teachers have and will always have a big impact in everyone's life and if not
everyone, well, at least they did for me. They teach you everything you need to know about a
subject and valuable life lessons, so why are they not paid sufficiently enough to make a decent
living? Teachers salaries have always been low and I believe it is the time that changes. Being a
lawyer, doctor, or engineer is great, but none of that would be possible without the insight of a
teacher, I will inform you in this paper on why I believe there is a need for action. I will go over
the background of teacher's salaries, my ideas on what would be best for teachers not just in
Texas, but nationwide, and pros and cons on the issues and ideas at hand. A teacher's salary has
come a very long way in the U.S. from 1980 to now, it went from 15 (elementary) and
16(secondary) thousand a year to 57 and 59 thousand a year as average. That is a pretty decent
change in just a little over thirty years. But as the salary went up so has the cost of living, so, in
reality, it is not much help. Texas is the state with the most teachers since 2014. Texas has a total
of 342,257 and California comes in second while New York comes in third (statista). That is a lot
of people, who all happen to be on a state salary schedule in Texas. What this means is that teachers
all get paid the starts salary and depending on who has been there longer than others determine who
gets a bonus or raise. I believe that they

Essay On Teacher Shortage
The issue of teacher shortage today is continuing to grow. The effects of the achievement gap are
reaching the teachers, not just the students: "...good administrators and teachers, who are doing their
best under difficult circumstances, will be driven out of the profession...," (Boyd–Zaharias 41). The
achievement gap is part of the reason teachers feel they are underpaid, which happens to be one
of the leading cause in teacher shortage considering, "Teachers were paid two percent less [than
comparable workers] in 1994, but by 2015 the wage penalty rose to 17 percent," (Long). Being a
teacher requires passion in order to stay in the field, especially if the money in teaching is
decreasing. Money is an important aspect for people when it comes to their careers, therefore, fewer
people want to become teachers. This lack of teachers and the lack of college students studying to
become a teacher leads to unqualified teachers and larger classroom sizes (Ostroff). Both of these
causes are eventually affecting students' learning environments. I chose this issue in education for my
project because I have personally felt these effects, and I know others who have as well. As a future
educator, I want to see better wages and better benefits, but this can only happen with qualified,
passionate teachers. I plan on being one of them, and I plan on sparking a change. I am a future
educator fighting to end teacher shortage. My project exemplifies the importance of teacher

Professional Development for Teachers Essay
Based on the inquiry of empowering professional development, many findings come into play. At
times we feel as though professional development is worthless and a waste of time. Gusky also,
addresses that at times why so many professional developments are inadequate. There are reasons
why we feel that way and reasons of which we should not have if we were actually getting
something out the workshops. A common goal must first be set in the mind of the participants thus
leading to the building of professionalism of the school system. In this review we will look at some
aids and guides to successful professional development.
First let's take a look and evaluate the classroom by observation to see what need to be improved.
One idea that came...show more content...
These findings are important in light of my own experience because this is a practice that I utilize
in my classroom but it can also be upgraded. Teaching a computer class, sometimes I have learned
that the students understand better when one of their peers explain the concepts and techniques to
them. That is all based on level of learning. Some catch on faster than others and they can help each
other with simple questions. After evaluation of the classroom and judging by administrators
whether or not teachers are abusing the use of peer tutoring, this could be one main idea of focus in
professional development. If evaluated properly teachers can really apply these tactics through
professional development in the classroom to enhance what has already implemented in their
instruction. I did not really know how to group the students but after reading this article I do. In the
future, I will put the lower achieving student with those who have high achievements. Giving the
students ownership and responsibility make them feel important and a little more confident on what
they are working on.
When we speak about teachers learning, it is our job to continue to research more ways and
methods of how to reach our student as well as learn more about our subject matter. You can never
know too much about a specific topic. Reeves argued the many different aspects of how a teacher
can learn. He began on how much influence teacher

What makes a good teacher? Essay
In my opinion, a good teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This is because
only by doing so will the students feel their passion and hard work. When a teacher strives hard
for the students, students will put in their effort as well. If a teacher dislikes her job, goes to
classes in a bad mood, her teaching would also be affected and students would not be able to enjoy
lessons as well.
Another point that makes a good teacher would be his/her patience. Teachers should not get upset or
even worse, give up on the students who are not so strong in their studies. Instead, they should have
the patience to slowly coach them, give them extra lessons, and find different ways to encourage
them. Let them know that the teacher...show more content...
It would be better if the teacher is able to find common topics to chat with the students. This would
let the students feel like they can relate better to the teacher.
"You must not give up. I want to let you know that even if you're facing so many problems, and
feel like there's no one to talk to, I'll be here for you. Everyone else might want to be the sun that
lights up your life, but I rather be the moon that guides you through your darkest hours. Let's strive
hard and work toward our goal together!" This was what my high school teacher told me 10 years
ago and I have remembered it until now, and will remember it for the next 10 years and so on.
I was once a problematic kid who mixed with bad company and flunk tests. I never thought about

insignificant to me and soon, I forgot every single one of those dreams and goals. I got to a new
school and knew friends who smoke and took drugs. My grades started dropping from "A" to fails.
But I did not care. I could not be bothered by then. I went partying every night and got home drunk.

My Career as a Teacher Essay
As I begin my rewarding career as I teacher, I sit and reflect on what my goals and priorities are in
the classroom. I am excited to be engaged in a future career where I can implement my own beliefs
and mold the future into something extremely positive. I believe the most important aspects that I
want to bring to my students are threefold: I want to educate, motivate, and inspire.
In order to have a productive learning environment where I will be able to educate my students,
many different factors must take place. First and foremost, it is important to me that I master

approaches in each lesson plan will benefit every student. Not only is it important to use different
learning styles but I will also use different teaching styles during the curriculum. The different
methods I would like to use to teach my lessons include but are not limited to; scientific investigation
which uses the scientific method. The scientific method includes first investigating the problem,
coming up with a logical hypothesis, performing the experiment, reading the results, and finally
completing an analysis of the results. The next method I would explore is decision making which
is the thought process of selecting a logical choice from the available options. Next is problem
solving. When I teach the students to problem solve accurately they be able to overcome obstacles
and find a solution that best resolves the issue. Next, I will help my students think critically which
includes identification and evaluation to problem solving. Finally, I will use the method of
cooperative learning which is an approach to organizing classroom activities into academic and
social learning experience. I believe that every one of these method can be valued

An Effective, Professional Teacher Essay
Introduction The statement 'Teaching – reflections, questions, decisions' sums up what it means to be
an effective teacher. Teachers are constantly making decisions about professionalism and ethics,
teaching strategies, classroom management, and how to keep their students motivated. These
decisions can have a major impact on student learning and how effective they are as teachers.
Questioning is an essential–and one of the most important–instructional skills that a teacher can
possess. Teachers need to be able to ask the appropriate types and levels of questions, such as the
high and low order questions based on Bloom's taxonomy, as well as being skilled in responding to
students answers. Teachers also need to be constantly evaluating and...show more content...
It is essential to encompass all of these behaviours and standards to succeed in being an effective
teacher, as they are in an authoritative position and therefore need to lead by example. Teacher
professionalism is also dependant on professional judgement, which involves making decisions on
what is the right thing to do in certain situations, and ethical behaviour. The code of ethics is based
on respect, caring, integrity, diligence and open communication (Groundwater–Smith, Ewing & Le
Cornu, 2007, p. 332). Sometimes teachers can come across 'ethical dilemmas' which are complex
problems that have more than one solution, and in turn, each solution has different advantages and
disadvantages, therefore having no clear correct answer (Groundwater–Smith et al., 2007, p. 336).
For example, "You observe another teacher publicly humiliate a child who is known to have
previously bullied other students. What do you do? Do you say anything?" Ethical dilemmas require
teachers to explore all situations and outcomes, and make a decision on what is right and just.
Professionalism and ethics together, as relevant to teachers, demands all of these appropriate
behaviours and responses in any circumstance (Whitton et al., 2010, p. 123). Constructivism
Teaching techniques and strategies, such as proactive teaching, collaborative learning and
constructivism, can also affect the quality of

My Motivation For Being A Teacher Essay
My motivation for being a teacher comes from somewhere deep within my heart and soul. I love
children. I love the look that comes across their faces when they finally grasp a concept after they
have been trying to truly understand it. I had a lot of teachers that made an impact on me and I
want to have the same impact on as many children as possible. My teachers installed a love of
learning in me. There is no better profession than teaching for those who want to learn. One is
learning just as much from their students, if not more, than what they teach. Teaching is
rewarding and involves making the world a better place. That is my calling. To change the world,
one person at a time, by showing love to each and every person I meet. Weather it be one of my
students or one of their parents, I want to be Christ's light just like my teachers were for me. I
want to be the support system that shows each and every one of my students that they can do
anything they put their mind to. Not only can they shoot for the stars, but they can shoot far
beyond. After all, I was once just a kid from a small farm town that no one knows about. Now I've
been on 4 mission trips, I travel all around, and I moved half way across the country to chase my
dreams. I am here because I was impacted by my high school history teacher/ musical director, Mr.

way. I want to share what I have with every child I can,

Argumentative Essay: Should Teachers Be Paid?
Public school teachers around the United States are not earning fair pay. When compared with other
fields such as computer science, engineering, or the medical field, teachers earn among the lowest
pay grade of all jobs. The thought of living on a low–income frightens many potentially amazing
and well qualified students from pursuing a degree in education. Teacher pay is beginning to affect
students education as well; therefore, causing children to not obtain the education they deserve.
Teachers should be receiving more money because valuable teachers are walking away and superior
education begins with quality teachers.
First of all, applicants are opting out of becoming teachers because of the stress and strain it puts
on their life. Teachers do not get enough credit for how much work they do between grading papers,
dealing with multiple personalities a day, and the amount of disrespect they encounter it is hard
even beginning to imagine. Additionally, financial stress can be found in teachers across the
country. The low wages of becoming an educator are forcing teachers to get second jobs just to
make ends meet. According to Alia Wong, an education writer for the Atlantic News, countless
stories have been told about professionals who have awards and recognition for the work they do in

Therefore, teachers do not make as much money because they have already received the benefit of
not paying so much for college. While this is true for some fields, a bachelor's degree program in
education typically ranges from $25,000 at state universities to $100,000 or more at private
universities (Cost Helper). This is comparative to an average engineering degree ($26,485) for state
universities which is actually not that much more money to get the degree, yet the engineers are
earning double and sometimes even triple the salary that a typical public school teacher

'Reflective teachers need to be able to relate their findings to those of others and to consider results
in the context of the current debates about educational issues' (Pollard, 2008). Having a range of
theorist's viewpoints, tried and tested ways of teaching, and working with more experienced
professionals has furthered my knowledge and understanding. I do not believe teachers are
required to know everything there is to know about all subjects but will have more expertise in
some subjects than others. The subjects and topics which they have limited experience in will
require a professional commitment in order to research. This research ultimately builds teacher's
knowledge and understanding to plan more interesting and effective lessons. Curriculum for
Excellence is allowing teachers more flexibility to organise and deliver the experiences and
outcomes in a more effective way for learners. In delivering the various curricular areas I have
become more confident in subjects which I felt less confident in at the start of the course.

Specific Purpose: I plan to persuade my audience that teachers' salaries should be increased.
Central Idea: Teachers' pay should be increased because of the responsibilities they hold, the
importance of their jobs, and the fact that the quality of teachers are reducing due to the salary.
Introduction:
I. Imagine how your life would be right now if there was no elementary school, no high school, no
college. Where would you be? This strange thought could be reality if it weren't for the teachers that
make our education possible. According to Peter Donker, teachers are one of the most fundamental
parts of society. They are responsible for making sure children are taught necessary materials, "and
aside from parents, are the main source of knowledge and values for children."
II. As an education major, the minimal salaries that teacher's receive has caused me to worry about
my future, and even consider changing professions. Coming from a large family of teachers, I am
fully informed on the wages they receive and how it affects them.
III. We all have been personally affected by a teacher at some point in our lives. Whether it is
Kindergarten or College, a teacher has made an impact on all of our lives.
IV. In order to reassure the quantity and quality of future teachers, an increase in salaries is
essential. V. My goal for today is to persuade you to support higher wages for teachers

Essay Topics For Teachers

  • 1. Preschool Teacher Reflection The questions I must say were very interesting regarding the age level I currently work with, being that I work with preschoolers. My results I wouldn't say surprised me, but rather gave me a better logic understanding of what I do in matters of teaching, though I have work I the preschool setting for the last ten years, it wasn't until the last four years I really had a chance to design my own lesson and teaching strategies. When I think back on my elementary, middle, and high school years I think that we learned the basic skills to prepare us for college. Back in the nineties, I don't think internet, for example was really used in schools. It was more about researching topics for paper reports by reading books and having interviews with people. While now we turn to look online for all the answers and questions. But now as a preschool teacher in the 21st century, we turn to technology to show images from all around the world. So yes, I think we do use 21st skills to teach our students. Personally, I think it is important to teach and show the students how their environment can affect or help their education. "Teachers must find equitable strategies to make the content accessible to students who often have considerable variation in their language abilities, background knowledge, and learning styles" (Blankstein, Noguera, & Kelly, 2016, p. 164). An important reflection I think in this discussion is that our environment though it can show where we came from, our skills learned Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Becoming a teacher can be an exciting and challenging experience for anyone. It can be quite difficult to put four years of knowledge into their teaching and into a classroom environment. And while it may seem challenging at first it does become easier over time. A teacher is not only someone who teaches, but they are a symbol of learning. A teacher is a person who plays the most important role in the development of any student. The future of those students depends on the qualities and the dedication of that teacher. It is the teacher who creates an interest in students to develop and to progress. It is the teacher who helps the students achieve whatever aims they set for themselves. Teachers have a lot to do with motivating...show more content... The curriculum then becomes more relevant, therefore the motivation for the students to accomplish the tasks increases. The subject matter not only has to be relevant but it also has to be stimulating to the students' curiosity. If a student is bored with the content, they are not going to want to learn it. The classroom also has to be seen as a caring and supportive place with a sense of belonging. Every student must feel respected, valued and heard. Giving children the support for learning by welcoming their questions and encouraging exploration is very important for teachers to do. Extrinsic motivators are sometimes used when teachers have a student or class who feels like they have earn't something for their hard work. This could be things such as stickers or stamps on their homework and tests. Or it could be receiving verbal or written praise. It could be just the thing that motivates certain students. But not all students need to be extrinsically motivated. Teachers need to find out which type of motivation works best for which student to help them succeed. Classroom teaching is more likely to be effective when it is informed by an understanding of how students learn. Constructivism is the current approach to learning in Australian schools today. Constructivism is how each student goes about constructing his or her own knowledge. This type of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 4. Elementary School Teaching Essay Elementary School Teaching Elementary School Teacher Elementary school teachers teach pupils at levels kindergarten through sixth grade or, in some cases, through eighth grade a wide range of academic, social, emotional, and motor skills. They plan and present programs of instruction using methods and materials to meet the needs of the students. In order for all this to happen though, Elementary School Teachers must have a passion for educating as well as love children. Education requires dedication, organization, and thought out lesson plans on a daily basis. To ensure that the students get top–notch education, teachers attend staff meetings, serve on committees, and attend workshops or in–service training activities....show more content... Although many teachers usually work alone in a class with a group of students, an increasing number of schools are now providing teacher aides who are supervised by the teacher, assist with clerical tasks, lunch and playground activities. About one public Elementary School Teacher in six is a member of a teaching team in which two or more teachers work closely teacher. An example of is would be when I was in fifth grade. My teacher, who graded, inspired, and taught me was Mr. Dekire. But Mrs. Biro team taught with Mr. Dekire and it would be like Mrs. Biro would do lectures and Mr. Dekire would do group work. This cuts down on the amount of work one person must have accomplished for the student. As a future teacher, I would hope to have an aide. Therefore, I would have more time for lesson planning and organizing the class. Not to mention, I would have more time socially to relax. Public Elementary Teachers in Michigan spend an average of 36 hours per week in the classroom and an additional 9 or so hours grading papers, attending meetings, keeping records, making reports, and supervising after–school activities. With an aide, I feel those 9 hours would cut down dramatically for the teacher. The nature of work for Elementary School Teachers is that they play a vital role in the development of children. What children learn and experience during their early years can shape their views of humanity, and affect future success or failure in school, work, and their Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 6. Personal Statement For Teaching Mathematics As a prospective mathematics teacher, I want to make thinking visible to my students. I want them to be able to express their ideas and be able to elaborate on their answers. Two types of thinking I would like to promote in my classroom are critical and creative thinking because mathematics is a subject that involves both when it comes to problem solving. Critical and creative thinking promote higher levels of student engagement and involves opportunities to investigate skills and concepts in a much wider setting. I want to teach mathematics in a way that has meaning and relevance, rather than through boring isolated topics. A classroom with a critical and creative thinking environment provides opportunities for higher–level thinking within authentic and meaningful contexts, complex problem solving, open–ended responses, and cooperation and interaction. Many students see math as right or wrong and they don't question or explore more. As a future math teacher, I want students to learn to question, be critical, and be creative. I want my future students to feel engage in exploration and investigation. I want to equip my students with higher levels of thinking and engagement and make mathematics more relevant and meaningful. According to the book "Making Thinking Visible" students who are engaged in their work are motivated by four essential goals: success, curiosity, originality, and relationships. Teaching mathematics through critical and creative thinking allows us to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. When choosing ones profession there are always two important questions to ask yourself. Is it what you love doing, and is the pay going to be enough to support you. For me the second question has never had much of an impact on my decision, along with most others who are educators or wish to become one. Teaching is not a job that one chooses to be rewarded by the pay. It is a job that is chosen for the rewarding feeling of knowing that it is the most effective, and most enjoyable way one can change the world; therefore, if teachers are noble enough to sacrifice such a huge aspect just to better our future generations, then don't you think they should be paid what they deserve? I believe educators are one of the most important careers out...show more content... The answer is we wouldn't have any chance of obtaining a degreed required profession without them. Research salaries in Michigan shows that Michigan kindergarten teachers without special education earn a yearly average of $51,550. Michigan elementary school teachers without special education make an average yearly income of $57,410. Middle school teachers in Michigan except special education, career and technical education make an average of $56,230. Michigan secondary school teachers, except special, career and technical education make a yearly average of $57,150. Teachingdegree.org provides that Michigan post secondary educators can make an average yearly income anywhere from $67,670 to $99,730. The low pay for our educators is causing many negative effects. New York Times shows that the low income is causing sixty–two percent of teachers to have a second job outside of their teaching jobs. Just to have enough money to support their families and make ends meet. Most everyone decides to college to prevent having these struggles with money, and to avoid having to work multiple jobs, when they get older; however, not when it comes to living off of only a teacher's income, the struggles to have enough money are interminable. This low pay is also causing most teachers to retire, and find new jobs. New York Times states, "every year 20 percent of teachers in urban districts quit. • 8. Compare And Contrast Traditional Teaching Styles No teachers are similar as well as no students learn in the same way. Every teacher has their own unique teaching style which is based on their educational philosophy, their classroom's demographic, what subject area they teach, and the school's mission statement. Up until now, teachers are looking for a system that will engage students in the educational process and will develop the students' critical thinking skills. Moreover, teachers want the classroom to be in order and in control, but they also want their students to appreciate the learning procedure. These teaching styles can be divided into two approaches – the teacher–centered and learner–centered. Traditional teaching styles use teacher–centered approach. It includes a teacher that stands at the front and tells students step by step instructions. The teacher decides what is learned, when it is learned, how it is learned, and how learning is evaluated. In a nutshell, the teacher is an information giver and evaluator. The students are just there to learn through lessons and direct instructions. Their attention is mainly focused on passing tests, assessments, and evaluations. Through the years, many successful people have came from the traditional setting. • 9. Persuasive Essay On Teachers Pay Teachers Pay Teachers have and will always have a big impact in everyone's life and if not everyone, well, at least they did for me. They teach you everything you need to know about a subject and valuable life lessons, so why are they not paid sufficiently enough to make a decent living? Teachers salaries have always been low and I believe it is the time that changes. Being a lawyer, doctor, or engineer is great, but none of that would be possible without the insight of a teacher, I will inform you in this paper on why I believe there is a need for action. I will go over the background of teacher's salaries, my ideas on what would be best for teachers not just in Texas, but nationwide, and pros and cons on the issues and ideas at hand. A teacher's salary has come a very long way in the U.S. from 1980 to now, it went from 15 (elementary) and 16(secondary) thousand a year to 57 and 59 thousand a year as average. That is a pretty decent change in just a little over thirty years. But as the salary went up so has the cost of living, so, in reality, it is not much help. Texas is the state with the most teachers since 2014. Texas has a total of 342,257 and California comes in second while New York comes in third (statista). That is a lot of people, who all happen to be on a state salary schedule in Texas. What this means is that teachers all get paid the starts salary and depending on who has been there longer than others determine who gets a bonus or raise. I believe that they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Essay On Teacher Shortage The issue of teacher shortage today is continuing to grow. The effects of the achievement gap are reaching the teachers, not just the students: "...good administrators and teachers, who are doing their best under difficult circumstances, will be driven out of the profession...," (Boyd–Zaharias 41). The achievement gap is part of the reason teachers feel they are underpaid, which happens to be one of the leading cause in teacher shortage considering, "Teachers were paid two percent less [than comparable workers] in 1994, but by 2015 the wage penalty rose to 17 percent," (Long). Being a teacher requires passion in order to stay in the field, especially if the money in teaching is decreasing. Money is an important aspect for people when it comes to their careers, therefore, fewer people want to become teachers. This lack of teachers and the lack of college students studying to become a teacher leads to unqualified teachers and larger classroom sizes (Ostroff). Both of these causes are eventually affecting students' learning environments. I chose this issue in education for my project because I have personally felt these effects, and I know others who have as well. As a future educator, I want to see better wages and better benefits, but this can only happen with qualified, passionate teachers. I plan on being one of them, and I plan on sparking a change. I am a future educator fighting to end teacher shortage. My project exemplifies the importance of teacher accountability in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Professional Development for Teachers Essay Based on the inquiry of empowering professional development, many findings come into play. At times we feel as though professional development is worthless and a waste of time. Gusky also, addresses that at times why so many professional developments are inadequate. There are reasons why we feel that way and reasons of which we should not have if we were actually getting something out the workshops. A common goal must first be set in the mind of the participants thus leading to the building of professionalism of the school system. In this review we will look at some aids and guides to successful professional development. First let's take a look and evaluate the classroom by observation to see what need to be improved. One idea that came...show more content... These findings are important in light of my own experience because this is a practice that I utilize in my classroom but it can also be upgraded. Teaching a computer class, sometimes I have learned that the students understand better when one of their peers explain the concepts and techniques to them. That is all based on level of learning. Some catch on faster than others and they can help each other with simple questions. After evaluation of the classroom and judging by administrators whether or not teachers are abusing the use of peer tutoring, this could be one main idea of focus in professional development. If evaluated properly teachers can really apply these tactics through professional development in the classroom to enhance what has already implemented in their instruction. I did not really know how to group the students but after reading this article I do. In the future, I will put the lower achieving student with those who have high achievements. Giving the students ownership and responsibility make them feel important and a little more confident on what they are working on. When we speak about teachers learning, it is our job to continue to research more ways and methods of how to reach our student as well as learn more about our subject matter. You can never know too much about a specific topic. Reeves argued the many different aspects of how a teacher can learn. He began on how much influence teacher Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. What makes a good teacher? Essay In my opinion, a good teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This is because only by doing so will the students feel their passion and hard work. When a teacher strives hard for the students, students will put in their effort as well. If a teacher dislikes her job, goes to classes in a bad mood, her teaching would also be affected and students would not be able to enjoy lessons as well. Another point that makes a good teacher would be his/her patience. Teachers should not get upset or even worse, give up on the students who are not so strong in their studies. Instead, they should have the patience to slowly coach them, give them extra lessons, and find different ways to encourage them. Let them know that the teacher...show more content... It would be better if the teacher is able to find common topics to chat with the students. This would let the students feel like they can relate better to the teacher. "You must not give up. Everyone else might want to be the sun that lights up your life, but I rather be the moon that guides you through your darkest hours. Let's strive hard and work toward our goal together!" This was what my high school teacher told me 10 years ago and I have remembered it until now, and will remember it for the next 10 years and so on. I was once a problematic kid who mixed with bad company and flunk tests. I never thought about what I was going to do the next day, what more when I grew up. Of course when I was younger, I had lots of dreams. I wanted to set up my own company, I wanted to be a teacher, I wanted to be able to drive an airplane and the list went on. But as the years went by, they became less insignificant to me and soon, I forgot every single one of those dreams and goals. I got to a new school and knew friends who smoke and took drugs. My grades started dropping from "A" to fails. But I did not care. I could not be bothered by then. I went partying every night and got home drunk. What was the point of studying? According to Alan Rupe(Attorney for schools) "It is incumbent upon the legislature to react to the ruling quickly and in a way that puts the funding levels into constitutional compliance". The court system also says they're violating the Kansas constitution on school funding. School districts said $4.1 billion is not a enough we are $800 million dollars short of what's necessary. • 14. My Career as a Teacher Essay As I begin my rewarding career as I teacher, I sit and reflect on what my goals and priorities are in the classroom. I am excited to be engaged in a future career where I can implement my own beliefs and mold the future into something extremely positive. I believe the most important aspects that I want to bring to my students are threefold: I want to educate, motivate, and inspire. In order to have a productive learning environment where I will be able to educate my students, many different factors must take place. First and foremost, it is important to me that I master exceptional classroom management skills. Effective and efficient learning takes place when expectations in the classroom are consistent and clear. Also, discipline in...show more content... These learning styles include; auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. By mastering and using as many learning styles as I can, I will make sure each student is able to get the most out of their learning experience. I understand that every child learns differently and understanding how to use different approaches in each lesson plan will benefit every student. Not only is it important to use different learning styles but I will also use different teaching styles during the curriculum. The different methods I would like to use to teach my lessons include but are not limited to; scientific investigation which uses the scientific method. The scientific method includes first investigating the problem, coming up with a logical hypothesis, performing the experiment, reading the results, and finally completing an analysis of the results. The next method I would explore is decision making which is the thought process of selecting a logical choice from the available options. Next is problem solving. When I teach the students to problem solve accurately they be able to overcome obstacles and find a solution that best resolves the issue. Next, I will help my students think critically which includes identification and evaluation to problem solving. Finally, I will use the method of cooperative learning which is an approach to organizing classroom activities into academic and social learning experience. I believe that every one of these method can be valued Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. An Effective, Professional Teacher Essay Introduction The statement 'Teaching – reflections, questions, decisions' sums up what it means to be an effective teacher. Teachers are constantly making decisions about professionalism and ethics, teaching strategies, classroom management, and how to keep their students motivated. These decisions can have a major impact on student learning and how effective they are as teachers. Questioning is an essential–and one of the most important–instructional skills that a teacher can possess. Teachers need to be able to ask the appropriate types and levels of questions, such as the high and low order questions based on Bloom's taxonomy, as well as being skilled in responding to students answers. Teachers also need to be constantly evaluating and...show more content... It is essential to encompass all of these behaviours and standards to succeed in being an effective teacher, as they are in an authoritative position and therefore need to lead by example. Teacher professionalism is also dependant on professional judgement, which involves making decisions on what is the right thing to do in certain situations, and ethical behaviour. The code of ethics is based on respect, caring, integrity, diligence and open communication (Groundwater–Smith, Ewing & Le Cornu, 2007, p. 332). Sometimes teachers can come across 'ethical dilemmas' which are complex problems that have more than one solution, and in turn, each solution has different advantages and disadvantages, therefore having no clear correct answer (Groundwater–Smith et al., 2007, p. 336). For example, "You observe another teacher publicly humiliate a child who is known to have previously bullied other students. What do you do? Do you say anything?" Ethical dilemmas require teachers to explore all situations and outcomes, and make a decision on what is right and just. Professionalism and ethics together, as relevant to teachers, demands all of these appropriate behaviours and responses in any circumstance (Whitton et al., 2010, p. 123). Constructivism Teaching techniques and strategies, such as proactive teaching, collaborative learning and constructivism, can also affect the quality of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. My Motivation For Being A Teacher Essay My motivation for being a teacher comes from somewhere deep within my heart and soul. I love children. I love the look that comes across their faces when they finally grasp a concept after they have been trying to truly understand it. I had a lot of teachers that made an impact on me and I want to have the same impact on as many children as possible. My teachers installed a love of learning in me. There is no better profession than teaching for those who want to learn. One is learning just as much from their students, if not more, than what they teach. Teaching is rewarding and involves making the world a better place. That is my calling. To change the world, one person at a time, by showing love to each and every person I meet. Weather it be one of my students or one of their parents, I want to be Christ's light just like my teachers were for me. I want to be the support system that shows each and every one of my students that they can do anything they put their mind to. Not only can they shoot for the stars, but they can shoot far beyond. After all, I was once just a kid from a small farm town that no one knows about. Now I've been on 4 mission trips, I travel all around, and I moved half way across the country to chase my dreams. I am here because I was impacted by my high school history teacher/ musical director, Mr. Wittig. He pushed me to chase my dreams and to follow my heart and not to let anything get in my way. I want to share what I have with every child I can, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Argumentative Essay: Should Teachers Be Paid? Public school teachers around the United States are not earning fair pay. When compared with other fields such as computer science, engineering, or the medical field, teachers earn among the lowest pay grade of all jobs. The thought of living on a low–income frightens many potentially amazing and well qualified students from pursuing a degree in education. Teacher pay is beginning to affect students education as well; therefore, causing children to not obtain the education they deserve. Teachers should be receiving more money because valuable teachers are walking away and superior education begins with quality teachers. First of all, applicants are opting out of becoming teachers because of the stress and strain it puts on their life. Teachers do not get enough credit for how much work they do between grading papers, dealing with multiple personalities a day, and the amount of disrespect they encounter it is hard even beginning to imagine. Additionally, financial stress can be found in teachers across the country. The low wages of becoming an educator are forcing teachers to get second jobs just to make ends meet. According to Alia Wong, an education writer for the Atlantic News, countless stories have been told about professionals who have awards and recognition for the work they do in their district,...show more content... Therefore, teachers do not make as much money because they have already received the benefit of not paying so much for college. While this is true for some fields, a bachelor's degree program in education typically ranges from $25,000 at state universities to $100,000 or more at private universities (Cost Helper). This is comparative to an average engineering degree ($26,485) for state universities which is actually not that much more money to get the degree, yet the engineers are earning double and sometimes even triple the salary that a typical public school teacher Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. During my time on the PGDE Course both in University based learning, and more evidently during my Professional Practise placements, I have come to realise the significance of reflection within the teaching profession. Not only does reflecting on best practise benefit the children's learning but also increases the teacher's confidence and ability in making decisions and delivering lessons. 'Reflective teaching is a great deal to do with facing such features of ourselves in a constructive and objective manner which incorporates a continuous capacity to change and develop' (Moon, 2004). Since embarking on the course I now question my own actions and assess the best alternatives to develop my practise by taking constructive criticism from...show more content... 'Reflective teachers need to be able to relate their findings to those of others and to consider results in the context of the current debates about educational issues' (Pollard, 2008). Having a range of theorist's viewpoints, tried and tested ways of teaching, and working with more experienced professionals has furthered my knowledge and understanding. I do not believe teachers are required to know everything there is to know about all subjects but will have more expertise in some subjects than others. The subjects and topics which they have limited experience in will require a professional commitment in order to research. This research ultimately builds teacher's knowledge and understanding to plan more interesting and effective lessons. Curriculum for Excellence is allowing teachers more flexibility to organise and deliver the experiences and outcomes in a more effective way for learners. In delivering the various curricular areas I have become more confident in subjects which I felt less confident in at the start of the course. I have found that through additional reading I am better equipped to question and suggest methods tried by others in professional disscussions. I found that attending In–service day training and Continued Professional Development (CPD) sessions has increased my knowledge and understanding allowing me to develop lessons which are more rewarding for the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. My Passion As A Teacher Me: As an Educator Becoming a teacher has always been a passion of mine. Two of my older sisters teach young children. Seeing the joy they bring to children, helps me strive to be as good at teaching as they are. They have shown me how important it is to be kind and loving with children. My first–grade teacher is also part of the reason I continued to follow my dreams. She made school fun and was always caring to all the children. She made me excited about learning and made school a place that I felt important and safe when I missed my parents. She touched my life forever and I am so thankful for her. Growing up, I enjoyed school and truly looked up to my teachers. I have had a lot of experience working with children. Throughout my...show more content... I am very positive and encouraging because I believe this helps children be more motivated to learn and I believe it is better to reinforce positive behavior than punish negative behavior. One disposition that I believe I have is Professional and Ethical Practices. Being respectful is always important but especially in professional environments. My parents taught me at a young age that respect goes a long way and it is important to always be respectful. I believe looking professional is also very important. It is better to be over–dressed than being under–dressed. Being early is important to me regardless of where I am going and equally important to have tasks completed before the deadline. I also possess Interactions with Students and Effective Communication. I try to always be fair and use a respectful and positive tone of voice, as well as show a supportive and encouraging place for learning. Communication is always essential for any relationship, but especially when working with children so they understand what is being asked of them. It is also especially important when working with a coordinating teacher or supervisor to ensure everything is planned and running smoothly. A skill that I feel is so important that I possess is being able to comfort children and ensure they are motivated and excited to learn. Having good grades have Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Persuasive Speech : Teachers ' Salaries Nikki Wild CMS 111 April 3, 2012 Persuasive Speech Topic: Teachers' Salary Specific Purpose: I plan to persuade my audience that teachers' salaries should be increased. Central Idea: Teachers' pay should be increased because of the responsibilities they hold, the importance of their jobs, and the fact that the quality of teachers are reducing due to the salary. Introduction: I. Imagine how your life would be right now if there was no elementary school, no high school, no college. Where would you be? This strange thought could be reality if it weren't for the teachers that make our education possible. According to Peter Donker, teachers are one of the most fundamental parts of society. They are responsible for making sure children are taught necessary materials, "and aside from parents, are the main source of knowledge and values for children." II. As an education major, the minimal salaries that teacher's receive has caused me to worry about my future, and even consider changing professions. Coming from a large family of teachers, I am fully informed on the wages they receive and how it affects them. III. We all have been personally affected by a teacher at some point in our lives. Whether it is Kindergarten or College, a teacher has made an impact on all of our lives. IV. In order to reassure the quantity and quality of future teachers, an increase in salaries is essential. V. My goal for today is to persuade you to support higher wages for teachers Get more content on HelpWriting.net
