The Dog s Living Situation
The Dog s living situation prior to being rescued was mostly unknown. However, Buddy the Pit
Bull Terrier was living in a ranch house that a couple bought, he was abandoned there. The
owners could not be contacted and made no effort to retrieve Buddy. The consensus of the new
house owners and the local veterinarian and shelters is that Buddy was trained in a violent
manner to be a fighting dog. The Age of Buddy is not completely known thought veterinarian

The Importance Of National Honor Society
The first idea I believe National Honor Society should participate in is hosting a Memorial Day
celebration for the families in our community that have lost loved ones due to serving our
country. I think this would be amazing because it would give the people in our community a
sense that they are not alone and introduce them to people that they can lean on. At this event, we
could have food/treats and potentially an open microphone where people would be able to share
the story of their loved one(s). This could then become a yearly event that people look forward to
because it would be a celebration of life. I realize this could turn into a huge event because there
are many people that could possibly attend but we could keep that under control

The Miracle Worker
The Miracle Worker (2000), a film directed by Nadia Tass, is a modern version of William
Gibson s play portraying Annie Sullivan s grueling attempts at teaching Helen Keller to
communicate and her eventual success in doing so. Through Sullivan s challenges, the
filmmakers placed an emphasis on the difficulties in balancing client s (or parental) preferences
and clinical judgments when working with deaf individuals. The film provided the realization
that honesty is the most effective tool when struggling to combine one s best clinical judgments
and client preferences. The initial scene, set in Keller s own home, presented a brief overview
of a day in Keller s life before meeting Sullivan. Keller was an angry child who was both deaf
and blind. Due to her impairments, her father and mother often engaged in heated conversations
regarding placing Keller in an asylum. Keller s parents finally agreed to hire a teacher for Keller.
The climax of the movie began when Sullivan entered the household of the Kellers and struggled to
manage Keller s misbehaviors whilst appeasing the concerns of Keller s parents.... Show more

Once Keller became housebroken, Sullivan taught Keller to sign letters through proprioception.
Keller responded well to signing as she began signing all the time, but Sullivan realized that she
[knew] so many words but not what they mean (Shankman Tass, 2000). The problem solved
itself when Sullivan made Keller refill a jug that she had emptied while misbehaving. As Keller
felt the water in her hands, she finally conceptualized water with the signing for w a t e r . The
film concluded on a positive note as Keller s whole family rejoiced over her progress and Sullivan
and Keller showed their affections for each other through Keller s newly acquired communication

Hades: God of the Underworld Who s Hades? Hades is the son of Kronos and Rhea. Hades is the
god of the underworld or the dead. He was also named Pluton (the giver of wealth) by the people
who preferred calling him that instead of Hades. He received his ruling of the underworld when
they, Zeus and his siblings, locked their father in Tartarus. He was always different than the other
gods, since he preferred the company of spirits. He abducted the daughter of Zeus, Persephone, and
made her eat in the underworld so that she would stay with him. Hades was often seen as a black
bearded man sitting in his throne with a bird tipped scepter. In Rome they called him Dis, or Pluto,

Competing Compromising, Avoiding, And Accommodating
The five conflict styles would include: competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding, and
accommodating (Griffith Dunham, 2015, p.57). Competing occurs when there are not many
resources. This approach is considered a win lose ; A person may choose this approach on his own
without cooperating with anyone else (J.D., 2011).
Collaborative conflict is when you team up with someone else to achieve each other s goals (J.D.,
2011). By using this conflict you can end up with a win win situation. This conflict requires a lot of
trust among everyone involved (J.D., 2011).
Compromising conflict no one wins from this conflict it is considered a lose lose situation (J.D.,
2011). With compromising conflict no one achieves what they want. Compromising

Allen Slate-Personal Narrative
As one drives up the California coast, they will begin to notice several things. First, the general
atmosphere shifts. The further north they travel from Los Angeles palms and golden beaches, the
cities begin to lose their positive, sunny vibes. They go from beach villas to industrial apartments
to suburban neighborhoods to run down harbor towns. The positive emotional vibrations emitted
from such architecture slowly surrenders its grip on its surroundings to a grim, hopeless one. As
new, booming cities fade into sleepy and ancient villages only occupied by drunken sailors and lost
tourists, the traveler will soon realize they are in a much less pleasant place as where they
originated their journey.
Secondly, the traveler will notice the fog. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

God s dice chose her. You couldn t stop it. You never really had control, did you? You have lived
your life running from chance, uncertainty, luck. You thought that by running from it, you could

The door swung open again. The homeless man walked in, holding a lottery ticket. Blood stained
his fingerless gloves.
His skin was pale and raw, shackles attached to broken chains were wrapped around his neck and

His eyes were glowing white. A pair of horns had sprouted from he head.
He read the card aloud, his voice cutting through the air and filling the room like coastal mist.
The words reverberated in Allen s skull. He stared down at his hands as his palms bubbled black

His vision turned red. His eyes rolled back.
The demonic words played one more time in his head. Hear that? that s the sound your fate. The

under the sun, he lets the hot breeze hit him and he thinks to himself why can t I be like other

Analysis Of Peter Pan
Discovering that every child has to grow up at some point of time is the main idea or purpose
behind the famous story of Peter Pan. Though there are different versions of the story, each one
generally has the same outcome. Analyzing two different interpretations of Peter Pan , the Disney
illusion and the original, by James M. Barrie, it is to be learned that the Disney animation simply
brings the story to life, adds a different outlook on it as opposed to simple olden version. With new
color, animation and modern day thought the Disney story creates a different playing of Peter Pan.
In Disney s version of Peter Pan , Disney left out many gruesome facts in their version of the
story. In the original Peter Peter by, James M. Barrie in 1904, Peter was a young boy who lived
amidst fairies and would escort dead children half of the way to wherever they need to go. One
night, Mrs. Darling sees Peter in the nursery, contrast to the cartoon where the parents are not
important characters, and she is able to catch his shadow, roll it up, and hold it in a drawer so that
she can attempt to catch the boy. She barely remembers this boy from stories told when she was
younger. When Peter returns for his shadow when the parents are away, he mistakenly awakes
Wendy. He tells Wendy about Neverlandand the Lost Boys, who happen to be young babies in
which had fallen out of their carriages and were sadly never found again. Wendy along with her
brothers fly with Peter to Neverland,

Political Art Ideas By Karl Marx And Friedrich Engels

Art 006 Final
Essay #1: Political Art Ideas There was a time in history where oppression was very present in
Geremy, specifically dealing with the Natzis and communism. It was a time of great struggles for
different social classes. Once history starts to form new movements, culture and art also become
affected. Due to this time communism in the 1900s made Marxism come about. It is a movement in
art associated with Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels that looks at the different levels of class and the
conflict in each one. Not only in Russia was there problems within the governmental structure, it is
a worldwide problem. The Mexican Murals are also a reflection of this idea. Therefore, Russian
Constructivism and the Mexican Mural movement employ Marxism as a theory. First, Russian
Constructivism was created by a group of Russians in the 1990s. In general their work is
geometrical and non mimetic. Some of the important figures of this time would be Tatlin, Malerich,
Lissitzky, and Kandinsky. They wrote the, Programme of the First Working Group of Constructives
which has three main points. One that Scientific communism is heavily influenced by the theory of
historical materialism. Two, real experimentation is important. Three, there are three disciplines
known as Tectonics, Faktura, and Construction. Finally Russian
Constructivists declare war on art which relates to the communistic ideas of Marxism. Additionally,
the Mexican Mural movement, also called

Difference Between Financial Analysis And Economic Analysis
Financial Analysis and Economic Analysis
Financial analysis of the project compare benefits and costs incurred to the firm or induvial, while
the economic analysis compare the benefits and costs incurred to whole society or economy.
Undiscounted Measures of Project Worth
The basic difference between these two measures is the consideration of time value of money in the
project investment. Undiscounted measures do not take into account the time value of money,
while discounted measures do take the time factor in calculations. There are five types of
undiscounted measures of project worth:
1. Ranking by Inspection
2. Payback Period
3. Proceeds per unit outlay
4. Average annual proceeds per unit of outlay
5. Average income on book value of investment

Average income on book value of investment
This is the ratio of average income to the book value of the assets . We calculate average income
by subtracting depreciation from average net value of incremental production (proceeds) stated in
percentage terms. We get depreciation by dividing capital cost by number of years. Average book
value is calculated by dividing capital cost by 2. Now we will compare average income on book
value of investment and select the one which gives highest value and highest rank.
Discounted Measures of Project Worth:
Discounted measures of project worth take time value of money under consideration. The most
common means of doing this is to subtract year by year the costs from the benefits to get the
incremental net benefit stream the so called cash flow and then to discount that. To calculate
discounted measures of a project worth, we need to choose a discount rate for calculating all
methods. There are four types of discounted measures of project worth:
1.NPW=Net present worth (value)
2.IRR=Internal rate of return
3.B/C=Benefit cost ratio
4. N/K=net benefit investment

Logical Fallacies And Decision Making

Essay on Walt Whitman
Walt Whitman
In parting with traditional poetic formalities, Walt Whitman alleviated a burden that impeded his
ability to achieve full poetic expression. To Whitman, the strict boundaries that formal meter,
structure, and rhyme imposed set limits on his stylistic freedom. This is not to say that these limits
prevented Whitman from conveying his themes. Rather, they presented a contradiction to which
Whitman refused to conform. In Whitman s eyes, to meet these formal guidelines one would also
have to sacrifice the ability to express qualities and passion of living men. Thus, Whitman contested
traditional poetic protocol because it added a layer of superficiality that concerned itself with
creating perfect rhythmical, metrical, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This meant that stanzas consisted of a predetermined amount of lines or that the poem had a
predetermined amount of stanzas. Augmenting this formal structure were predetermined rhyme
schemes (such as abab cdcd efef gg in Shakespearean sonnets). Based on the above, we can describe
traditional poetic etiquette as adhering to the suggested formal patterns predetermined by the
tradition of British poetry. Just in reaching the above conclusion, a problem arises that all poets, not
just Whitman, face when trying to conform to this style. This problem is that all of these rules are
cumbersome. It is difficult for a poet to convey the theme of a poem when he or she is concerned
with whether or not each word fits into a designated formal pattern. Yet, some would argue that this
is what makes poetry such an elegant art form. Surely, Whitman recognized the genius found in
Shakespeare s sonnets and other constitutive examples of traditional British poetry. However,
whether or not Whitman recognized the genius of great traditional British poets, is inconsequential.
What did matter was whether or not Whitman felt that this style was appropriate for him. The
answer is no. Whitman found problems not simply with the fact that clinging to the traditional style
might be burdensome (surely this would not have been an insurmountable task for Whitman), but
his main issue with traditional style concerned the ornamental effect of formal regularity:

The Controversies Regarding Abortion
Abortion
With the subject of abortion, it seems that no consensus will ever be reached. Those who argue
in favor of choice will never see from the perspective of the pro lifers and vice versa. The major
difference is that those who are pro choice have never been responsible for the deaths of the
opposition. Before the Roe v. Wade case made abortion legal in this country, abortions were
unlawful in the United States. Anyone who needed or wanted an abortion for any reason,
physical or emotional, would have to go to back alley abortionists who would be working with
unsafe tools and in unsterile conditions which would be a breeding ground for bacteria and
germs. Many women died during these procedures, or from the later infections related to the
abortions. Others were left permanently. Decades after the passing of this important piece of
legislation, people still debate whether or not abortion should be legal and under what
conditions, if any. In their book, Grogan and Reed make a passionate plea about the rights of
women and how abortion is one of these inalienable rights (30). They state that a woman s right
to choose is directly linked to her choices later on in life. For example, a woman who can barely
afford to support herself should not be forced to take on the responsibility of motherhood if she is
not financially or emotionally prepared to do so. The thesis in this argument is that it is better to
terminate a pregnancy early on than have children who are doomed to

The Ancient Roman World

Mr. Harrington
World History
28 November 2015
The Ancient Roman world, the various Germanic and Norse barbarians, and Christianity all played
a big role in the creation of the society, politics and ideas in the Middle Ages. You may have not
known but the beginning of the Middle Ages (5th to 15th century) is marked when the Western
Roman Empire is invaded (1000 B.C) by the Germanic barbarians who were from Northern
Europe ( Middle Ages ). The Germanic people specifically the Goths, Vandals, Saxons and Franks
adapted most of the Romans ideas and ways of living and combined it with their own creating a
new medieval culture in Western Rome. The Huns started to invade the territory north of the
Black Sea which was where the Germanic People had settled. ( Middle Ages ). This led to the
invasion of Western Rome which then led to the fall of the Western Empire who had lost almost
all their power to be able to defend themselves. During the Middle Ages Catholic churches
specifically the Popes were the ones who ruled much of the society as there was not one
government that untied all the people in Western Rome during the Middle Ages ( Christianity In
The Middle Ages. ). The society was greatly influenced by the Catholic Church at the beginning of
the Middle ages due to its power over the people and the government which allowed them to create
rules that were from God . After the collapse of the Roman Empire which occurred in the 5th

Black Americans And The Black Freedom Struggle
Many have thought that the end of the civil war was also the end of the suppression against
Black Americans. However, real freedom hasn t been present to them. Discriminations against
Black Americans were transformed and still exist in other aspects. The life of a Black American
was planned before he or she was born, not much freedom in their hands. Black American
experience disadvantage and discrimination in many different institutions that all prove the
existence of Neocolonialism. From housing to education, formal and informal social controls
prevented them from equality and freedom. Moreover, Black youth was forced to be in the
pipeline of incarceration from school, because of the lack of resources and attention to them. In
this ongoing fight for Black Freedom, many influential Black leaders stepped up. One of them
is one of the most important figures in the Black freedom struggle history, Ella Baker. This essay
will first, explain key issues on Black Americans freedom in housing and school to prison
pipeline, then identify Ella Baker s theory in the Black Freedom Struggle, and finally define what
freedom means. It s the American dream to own a house with beautiful white fences and yard and
live joyfully with families, but not many Black Americans can live up to that dream. The hate and
prejudice against Black American didn t reduce much since the end of the civil war. I m not
prejudice, but I d burn this building down before I d sell it to any damned nigger.

Title: A Case Report of Suspected Malignant Hyperthermia where Patient Survived the Episode.
Abstract; Malignant hyperthermia is rare inherited disorder in our part of world, there are only few
cases reported in literature in India who were suspected of having this condition. Overall incidence
of malignant hyperthermiaduring general anesthesiais estimated to range from 1: 5,000 to 1:
50,000 100,000 and mortality rate is estimated to be less than 5% in presence of standard care. In
India there is no centre where invitro halothane caffeine contraction test (IVHCT) is performed to

Extent Primate Analysis
1.Introduction:
Extent Primates provide great insight as analogies into facilitating an understanding of how tool
use, culture and cognition developed in the early hominid lineage. Archaeologists interpret primate
behaviors and social structures as a means of investigating the evolution of hominin technology.
This process will be briefly outlined as well as a number of the benefits and disadvantages
presented when using extant primates as analogies in this way.
An analogy creates a comparison between two subjects through likening and contrasting aspects
about them. Thus looking into extant primate tool usage, one can gain insight into possible early
hominin tool usage. This, as they can provide, to a certain extent, a living interpretation ... Show

Tyson Foods International Strategy Essay
In the global capabilities of companies, the process of penetrating and developing an international
market is seen as the most difficult. This happens because companies usually have little information
about the new market as well as marketing infrastructure to penetrate it. However, companies treat
entry into foreign markets as an extension of their business, which adds incremental revenue for
their products and services. Additionally, firms pursue foreign business opportunities to minimize
risk and investment thereby increasing their total sales and profits. For Tyson Foods to enter the

Risk result from foreign exchange and politics, while opportunities arise from unexploited

The Concept Of Loyalty In Percy Jackson And The Olympians
The concept of loyalty has been prevalent throughout history and literature. One example is the
book series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. This series surrounds a teenage boy, Percy
Jackson, who is a demigod living in New York City. It blends ancient Greek mythology evil
monsters and jealous gods with current predicaments. One of the themes touched on in Percy
Jackson and the Olympians is the concept of a fatal flaw, or a trait that a hero possesses that will
eventually bring about their downfall. Percy s fatal flaw is loyalty. The strengths and
weaknesses of strong loyalty are explored deeply in the series. Loyalty is a strong motivating
factor in not jst stories stories, but also in life. I believe that strong loyalty to those closest to
you can bring many benefits. Strong loyalty brings rewards through small moments that make a
lasting memory. Over spring break, I went to the beach with my friend Marissa. We had a great
time building sand castles and walking along the shore, but Marissa refused to get in the water
because of her sensitive skin. After a painstaking half an hour working on our moat (and another
ten minutes on the actual castle), we were done. Recklessly, I ran into the water, submerging
myself in the salty waves. I laughed and waved at Marissa, knowing she was not going to follow.
I told myself I d stay in for just a minute longer, and then I would go back to the shore. I sank
below the waves once more, fully expecting to return to Marissa on the shore. When I shook the
stinging water from my eyes, I was astounded to see Marissa wading in after me. I yelled out a
surprised greeting and swam back to meet her. We swam until we got tired, using the big waves
to propel us and slamming into the smaller waves. She did not end up regretting her ocean
venture, even though her skin burned for a short time after we left the water. She was loyal to me,
even with something as small as jumping in the ocean when she knew it would sting her skin,
which brought her fond memories and a fun time. That meant a lot to me because she had been
adamant about not wanting to swim, yet she came in the water with me because she knew I
wanted to; she valued my feelings above hers. Caring for other people,

Emily Dickinson s If You Were Coming In The Fall
If You Were Coming in the Fall , is a poem written by Emily Dickinson. Emily Dickinson wrote a
a lot about love. Dickinson fell in love with an unknown person when she was in her early
twenties. Unfortunately, Edward Dickinson did not approve of Emily s unknown lover. Later on
in Dickinson s life, she began to fall in love with a man named Otis Lord. Dickinson and Lord
wrote each other constantly. Dickinson refused Lord s marriage proposal, but they continued to
write to each other. Emily Dickinsons, If You Were Coming in the Fall , portrays a theme of love
and time, a tone of distress, and a certain purpose. To begin, Emily Dickinson provides many
examples of the theme. An example in the first stanza is, I d brush the Summer by with

Sigmund Freud And The Psychosexual Stages Of Development
Sigmund Freud was a very well known psychologist in the early 20th century. He began his
career in partnership with Joseph Breuer. Together they wrote and published the book Studies in
Hysteria in 1895, after studying patients with hysteria and developing the idea that most mental
disorders were caused by hidden traumatic experiences in the patients past. Freud began to put
emphasis on the sexual experiences of childhood and he lost the support of Breuer. Freud
continued his work alone and he published three more books. Freud s work was not well
recognized because of his emphasis on sex. In 1908, after the first International Psychoanalytical
Congress, Freud s work began to gain popularity and his psychoanalytic theory became well
respected. He went on to publish more than twenty theoretical volumes and clinical studies. He
continued to develop his ideas until he died of cancer in 1939. One of Freud s theories was the
psychosexual stages of development. It is important to recognize that Freud changed the meaning
of sexuality to any form of pleasure that can be or is gathered from the body. Freud based his
theory on the thought that all human instincts and drives were based on the desire to gain or
increase bodily pleasure. Freud thought that if a person did not resolve their conflicts during each
stage this would be the cause of any mental illness or phobia that they would have in their adult
life. If one did resolve the conflict at each stage, then libido, sexual drives or

Charles Darwin s Theory Of Evolution And Natural Selection
Charles Darwin
Charles Darwin was born in Shrewsbury, England, on February 12, 1809. He died on April 19,
1882 in Kent, England (Biography.com Editors). Charles Darwin brought many revolutionary
visions to the world of science, including evolution. Charles Darwin was an English naturalist and
geologist. He is best known for his theory of evolution, and natural selection. Darwin learned most
of his information on the Voyage of the Beagle, and from this trip he wrote a book, Of the Origin
of Species. From this book, came the saying Survival of the Fittest. Charles Darwin accomplished
many things with his life. He still has many fans and followers because of his discoveries. Darwin
was the second youngest of six children. He came from a long line of family studying science
(Biography.com Editors.). Darwin s parents were both doctors, and his grandfather was a botanist.
Botany is the study of plants, including their physiology, structure, genetics, ecology, distribution,
classification, and economic importance, (dictionary.com). Charles mother died when he was only
eight years old, so he was raised by his three sisters. Darwin s family was wealthy (Biography.com

Computers And The Price Of Prices Essay
Price had never been this low where a desktop costs only $499, whereas laptops are hovering
around $1100. Yet do not forget the $500 Apple mini sub compact laptop or the Apple iBook
laptop that sells for $650, and the stripped down $400 after rebate laptops companies like
Gateway and eMachine are flooding the market with to make money on volume of sales instead
of a high price margin. The problem is even if the price of PCs plummets the effect is not felt
immediately, because people do not rush to change their PC despite the fact they are getting it
cheaper, which means the PC turnover rate is low like most durable goods. That might be what is
contributing to the declining of prices, as the assumption of the manufacturers might be that if the
price goes low enough people might want to change their computer to avail themselves the latest
add ons. Even the add ons themselves seem to have reached their zenith some time ago and the
latest most alluring gadget that came into existence was CD/DVD RW and every reasonably
priced desktop or laptopis equipped with it. However, it does not mean the makers of PCs are not
coming up with new functionality, add ons, and price reductions to woo buyers. The other recent
addition was Wi Fi that got boost from the introduction of Intel s Centrino mobile technology chip
and it had added a lot to the mobility of laptops, which can access the Internet wherever hot spots
are available. Other than that, the overall performance of PCs despite

The concepts of tradition and modernity in The Bride Price by Buchi Emecheta.
INTRODUCTION
The concept of tradition versus modernity has been widely explored in the novel entitled Bride
Price by Buchi Emecheta. Every aspect including the setting of the novel, the tribal community that
exists, the characters, the lifestyle which the community adopted and the values that each
characters hold reflects the existence and also the confrontation between tradition and modernity. In
this novel, the author has shown how modernity and its values try to seep into the community of
Ibuza, a place where tradition and customs are strongly uphold by its residents. During the period

In terms of sexuality, single men are allowed to have affairs with women before they get married.
Nobody in the community will question them for committing such acts and not only that, boys
who come as suitors to the girl s home are allowed to fondle her breasts and to molest her in any
way they like as it is the custom practiced by the people in Ibuza. In this case, the girl s mother and
family are actually aware of what s happening and they allow for these acts to be committed on
the girl. In contrast, a girl is expected to be a virgin before she is married off to the husband
chosen for her and her blood stains from the consummated marriage is shown to family members as
a prove that she was pure before she got married. However, if she were to have affairs before she
is married off to another family, she would be looked down upon and will be treated even worst
than a slave. In Akunna s case, she claimed that she lost her virginity to Chike, a descendent of a
slave, to protect herself from being mistreated by Okoboshi. But by doing so, she put her own
life at risk and even tarnished her own reputation in her own community. Another instance would
be in terms of education. For example, boys are allowed to further their studies until the highest
level as long as their families can afford to do so. Meanwhile, girls are not as privileged as it is
taken for granted that girls are not

Farmers In The Middle Ages Essay
Pressures on the Farmers in the Middle Ages Without a reliable and plentiful food source it is
impossible for a society to progress. In the Middle Ages neither was available until later after the
1300 s. Ironically it was the disastrous events of the Great European Famine and the Black Death
that pressured agricultural demands. This forced improvements in the varieties of crops and the
production. The events all started out in the spring of 1315. Unfortunately the April showers did
not bring May flowers, it only brought more rain. The rain would last for two years. A natural
disaster of deficient crop and starvation was arising. To most observers the first major effect of the
weather of 1315, 1316, and 1317 was the material devastation caused by the rains and the flooding
that ensued; seedbeds sodden, crops and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The effects of the disease may have put a bigger toll on the economy. Trade brought exotic goods
to England, but in 1348 it also brought pestilence and death. (Williams, 2007, p.85) As the
wages, and production costs rose, the prices of food had to drop, because of oversupply. There
was a more supply of food than there was for the people that were alive. Peasant farmers had a
positive outcome financially. Since the population was decreasing, the amount of laborers was
scarce. Demands for peasants increased, and they were asking for more money to their job. The
lords had to pay and were not happy with the power peasants were receiving. This phenomena was
known as the Peasants Revolt of 1381 where a poll tax was created after the Black Death against the
peasants and landowners to help pay war debt. This would add to more struggles to Middle Age
agriculturists. It was much harder on the peasants, who could ill afford to pay, especially as the tax
was collected in cash and not in farm

Exploitation and Societal Reorganization
Karl Marx and Mary Wollstonecraft are both philosophers who have observed the relationships
between ruling and ruled classes of people. In Marx s text Capital he discusses how there must
exist a bourgeois class that exploits a class of proletarians in order for capitalism to exist. Mary
Wollstonecraft in her work A Vindication of the Rights of Woman argues that a patriarchal society
in which women are forced to depend on men for every aspect of their lives is exploitation and
detrimental to everyone involved. A concept that is shared between these two works is that a
society that depends on the domination and exploitation of a class will naturally reorganize into a
society that has a balance between classes.
The exploitation of workers by capitalists is necessary for a capitalist society to exist properly.
When viewing the relations between members of a capitalist society as individuals, it can seem
that capitalism is based on freedom and equality. The proletariat class, or those who do not own any
means of production, sell their labor power to the bourgeoisie, or capitalists. The proletariats are
free to sell their labor power to whichever industry they choose, and will be compensated fairly
for their work in the form of wages. This concept of labor power is an integral part of Marx s
argument about capitalism. He explains that labor power is the mental and

September 30, 2014 The Meaning behind Jokes. Some researcher say that laughter is the best
medicine a human can get. There are many different ways to get a good laugh. Whether it s from
seeing a funny movie, watching funny videos on the internet, or telling jokes with your friends.
Personally, my favorite way to get a quick laugh is to exchange funny jokes between my friends.
Some of the best jokes are the ones that might come off a little racist if said to the wrong person.
It is the racism that makes many of these jokes funny. For instance; many polish jokes can easily

they realize that the tendency of it is relative harmless. Most people find it to be a great stress
reliever when they join others in a good laugh about oneself. A philosopher by the name of
Michael Philips would agree with the point stated above. He would say that not all the jokes that
are directed towards a certain ethnic group are racist. That we need to be able to distinguish the
humor that is morally unobjectionable and the humor that is not. (Philips) It all depends who the
audience is during the telling of a joke. Some people might think that the joke that is being

in the areas of coping skills, life skills, professional pathways, and healthy relationships, prior to
and after their participation in GRL. Descriptive statistics will help us see if there is a change in
the girls understanding and behaviors between the two points in time, the direction of the change.
Additionally, a paired sample t test will help us understand if the change is statistically
significant. We will also be able to demonstrate in what areas the program was most impactful, and
if any demographic factors predicted the program s effectiveness. However, due to the small
sample size and the lack of a control group, we cannot control for the validity of the findings nor
necessarily assume generalizability.
The findings from the evaluation of the GRL program will be disseminated in a comprehensive
formal report for accountability, participant progress, and program effectiveness. However,
abbreviated versions of the report may be used according to the audience to which the
information is directed. The GRL focus group discussion will be recorded and sent to GRL staff
to view for any program improvements or necessary changes. The findings of this evaluation will

THEORIES OF THE ORIGIN OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM
The Accretion theory
This assumes that the Sun passed through a dense interstellar cloud and emerged surrounded by a
dusty, gaseous envelope. It thus separates the formation of the Sun from that of the planets thus
losing problem 1.
The problem which remains is that of getting the cloud to form the planets. The terrestrial planets
can form in a reasonable time but the gaseous planets take far too long to form. The theory does
not explain satellites or Bode s law and must be considered the weakest of those described here.
The Protoplanet theory
This assumes that initially there is a dense interstellar cloud which will eventually produce a
cluster of stars. Dense regions in the cloud form and coalesce; as the small blobs have random
spins the resulting stars will have a low rotation rates. The planets are smaller blobs captured by the
star. The small blobs would have higher rotation than is seen in the planets but the theory accounts

Stewardship Theory Theories
Identify the main differences between each of the theoretical perspectives outlined by Tricker
The theoretical perspectives presented by Tricker clearly outline the importance that is now
attached to corporate governance but also support the view that there remains an absence of one
accepted framework, central to each perspective however is the focus on relationships and the
impact the foundation of these relationships has on the subsequent approach to governance. The
agency theory The basis of which is described as a contractual relationship between an agent and
a principal wherein the agent is engaged to act on behalf of principal, the presumption being that
in such a relationship both parties act solely in their own interest which may not always be
aligned. The theory is based on the belief that people are naturally greedy and self serving and
that the agents will not exercise the same level of care and diligence as they would were it their
own property for which they were responsible for. The argument is made in the readings that this
theory may be redundant in a modern context given the size of some organisations and the
relevant distance that may now exist between the original principal and the agent, however the
theory and the dilemma associated with it are the basis of a large proportion of corporate
governance rules as efforts were made to have in place the required level of protection for

Essay The Popularity of The Burns and Allen Show
Vaudeville was very popular from the late 1800s to the early 1900s in North America. Vaudeville
shows were made up of many random acts that were placed together in a common play bill.
Some acts were, for example, plays, clowns, jugglers, comedians, etc. Once the radio was
introduced, vaudeville s started to become less popular as the radio s popularity started to

increased so did the amount of programs, which went up to almost 500. Radios was the place

The Rhetorical Analysis Of Viva La Vida
Titanium This song relates specifically to the scene at the end where he stands up for himself

to liberally express their valid and unique opinions with different uses of toneгѓјdetail, syntax and
imagery . This powerful addition to our communication allows society to thoroughly comprehend
the attitude in which an individual is speaking with. Regarding this, Mistero Buffo s story, The

expressed by the words that someone uses in speaking or writing (Merriam Webster). Within this
powerful passage, readers can come to a conclusion that tone is a crucial structure of literature.
Mistero Buffo exquisitely showcases that tone defines the overall theme through detail, the

  • 3. The Importance Of National Honor Society The first idea I believe National Honor Society should participate in is hosting a Memorial Day celebration for the families in our community that have lost loved ones due to serving our country. I think this would be amazing because it would give the people in our community a sense that they are not alone and introduce them to people that they can lean on. At this event, we could have food/treats and potentially an open microphone where people would be able to share the story of their loved one(s). This could then become a yearly event that people look forward to because it would be a celebration of life. I realize this could turn into a huge event because there are many people that could possibly attend but we could keep that under control ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Miracle Worker The Miracle Worker (2000), a film directed by Nadia Tass, is a modern version of William Gibson s play portraying Annie Sullivan s grueling attempts at teaching Helen Keller to communicate and her eventual success in doing so. Through Sullivan s challenges, the filmmakers placed an emphasis on the difficulties in balancing client s (or parental) preferences and clinical judgments when working with deaf individuals. The film provided the realization that honesty is the most effective tool when struggling to combine one s best clinical judgments and client preferences. The initial scene, set in Keller s own home, presented a brief overview of a day in Keller s life before meeting Sullivan. Keller was an angry child who was both deaf and blind. Due to her impairments, her father and mother often engaged in heated conversations regarding placing Keller in an asylum. Keller s parents finally agreed to hire a teacher for Keller. The climax of the movie began when Sullivan entered the household of the Kellers and struggled to manage Keller s misbehaviors whilst appeasing the concerns of Keller s parents.... Keller responded well to signing as she began signing all the time, but Sullivan realized that she [knew] so many words but not what they mean (Shankman Tass, 2000). The problem solved itself when Sullivan made Keller refill a jug that she had emptied while misbehaving. As Keller felt the water in her hands, she finally conceptualized water with the signing for w a t e r . The film concluded on a positive note as Keller s whole family rejoiced over her progress and Sullivan and Keller showed their affections for each other through Keller s newly acquired communication ... Competing occurs when there are not many resources. This approach is considered a win lose ; A person may choose this approach on his own without cooperating with anyone else (J.D., 2011). • 11. Analysis Of Peter Pan Discovering that every child has to grow up at some point of time is the main idea or purpose behind the famous story of Peter Pan. Though there are different versions of the story, each one generally has the same outcome. Analyzing two different interpretations of Peter Pan , the Disney illusion and the original, by James M. Barrie, it is to be learned that the Disney animation simply brings the story to life, adds a different outlook on it as opposed to simple olden version. With new color, animation and modern day thought the Disney story creates a different playing of Peter Pan. In Disney s version of Peter Pan , Disney left out many gruesome facts in their version of the story. In the original Peter Peter by, James M. Barrie in 1904, Peter was a young boy who lived amidst fairies and would escort dead children half of the way to wherever they need to go. One night, Mrs. Darling sees Peter in the nursery, contrast to the cartoon where the parents are not important characters, and she is able to catch his shadow, roll it up, and hold it in a drawer so that she can attempt to catch the boy. She barely remembers this boy from stories told when she was younger. When Peter returns for his shadow when the parents are away, he mistakenly awakes Wendy. Due to this time communism in the 1900s made Marxism come about. It is a movement in art associated with Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels that looks at the different levels of class and the conflict in each one. Not only in Russia was there problems within the governmental structure, it is a worldwide problem. The Mexican Murals are also a reflection of this idea. Therefore, Russian Constructivism and the Mexican Mural movement employ Marxism as a theory. First, Russian Constructivism was created by a group of Russians in the 1990s. In general their work is geometrical and non mimetic. Some of the important figures of this time would be Tatlin, Malerich, Lissitzky, and Kandinsky. They wrote the, Programme of the First Working Group of Constructives which has three main points. One that Scientific communism is heavily influenced by the theory of historical materialism. Undiscounted Measures of Project Worth The basic difference between these two measures is the consideration of time value of money in the project investment. Undiscounted measures do not take into account the time value of money, while discounted measures do take the time factor in calculations. There are five types of undiscounted measures of project worth: 1. Ranking by Inspection 2. Payback Period 3. Proceeds per unit outlay 4. Average annual proceeds per unit of outlay 5. Average income on book value of investment This is the ratio of average income to the book value of the assets . We calculate average income by subtracting depreciation from average net value of incremental production (proceeds) stated in percentage terms. We get depreciation by dividing capital cost by number of years. Average book value is calculated by dividing capital cost by 2. Now we will compare average income on book value of investment and select the one which gives highest value and highest rank. Discounted Measures of Project Worth: Discounted measures of project worth take time value of money under consideration. The most common means of doing this is to subtract year by year the costs from the benefits to get the incremental net benefit stream the so called cash flow and then to discount that. To calculate discounted measures of a project worth, we need to choose a discount rate for calculating all methods. There are four types of discounted measures of project worth: 1.NPW=Net present worth (value) 2.IRR=Internal rate of return 3.B/C=Benefit cost ratio 4. N/K=net benefit investment ... • 16. Essay on Walt Whitman Walt Whitman In parting with traditional poetic formalities, Walt Whitman alleviated a burden that impeded his ability to achieve full poetic expression. To Whitman, the strict boundaries that formal meter, structure, and rhyme imposed set limits on his stylistic freedom. This is not to say that these limits prevented Whitman from conveying his themes. Rather, they presented a contradiction to which Whitman refused to conform. In Whitman s eyes, to meet these formal guidelines one would also have to sacrifice the ability to express qualities and passion of living men. Thus, Whitman contested traditional poetic protocol because it added a layer of superficiality that concerned itself with creating perfect rhythmical, metrical, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This meant that stanzas consisted of a predetermined amount of lines or that the poem had a predetermined amount of stanzas. Augmenting this formal structure were predetermined rhyme schemes (such as abab cdcd efef gg in Shakespearean sonnets). Based on the above, we can describe traditional poetic etiquette as adhering to the suggested formal patterns predetermined by the tradition of British poetry. Just in reaching the above conclusion, a problem arises that all poets, not just Whitman, face when trying to conform to this style. This problem is that all of these rules are cumbersome. It is difficult for a poet to convey the theme of a poem when he or she is concerned with whether or not each word fits into a designated formal pattern. Yet, some would argue that this is what makes poetry such an elegant art form. Surely, Whitman recognized the genius found in Shakespeare s sonnets and other constitutive examples of traditional British poetry. However, whether or not Whitman recognized the genius of great traditional British poets, is inconsequential. What did matter was whether or not Whitman felt that this style was appropriate for him. The answer is no. Whitman found problems not simply with the fact that clinging to the traditional style might be burdensome (surely this would not have been an insurmountable task for Whitman), but his main issue with traditional style concerned the ornamental effect of formal regularity: In ... • 17. The Controversies Regarding Abortion Abortion With the subject of abortion, it seems that no consensus will ever be reached. Those who argue in favor of choice will never see from the perspective of the pro lifers and vice versa. The major difference is that those who are pro choice have never been responsible for the deaths of the opposition. Before the Roe v. Wade case made abortion legal in this country, abortions were unlawful in the United States. Anyone who needed or wanted an abortion for any reason, physical or emotional, would have to go to back alley abortionists who would be working with unsafe tools and in unsterile conditions which would be a breeding ground for bacteria and germs. Many women died during these procedures, or from the later infections related to the abortions. Others were left permanently. Decades after the passing of this important piece of legislation, people still debate whether or not abortion should be legal and under what conditions, if any. In their book, Grogan and Reed make a passionate plea about the rights of women and how abortion is one of these inalienable rights (30). They state that a woman s right to choose is directly linked to her choices later on in life. For example, a woman who can barely afford to support herself should not be forced to take on the responsibility of motherhood if she is not financially or emotionally prepared to do so. One example is the book series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. This series surrounds a teenage boy, Percy Jackson, who is a demigod living in New York City. It blends ancient Greek mythology evil monsters and jealous gods with current predicaments. One of the themes touched on in Percy Jackson and the Olympians is the concept of a fatal flaw, or a trait that a hero possesses that will eventually bring about their downfall. Percy s fatal flaw is loyalty. The strengths and weaknesses of strong loyalty are explored deeply in the series. Loyalty is a strong motivating factor in not jst stories stories, but also in life. I believe that strong loyalty to those closest to you can bring many benefits. Strong loyalty brings rewards through small moments that make a lasting memory. Over spring break, I went to the beach with my friend Marissa. We had a great time building sand castles and walking along the shore, but Marissa refused to get in the water because of her sensitive skin. After a painstaking half an hour working on our moat (and another ten minutes on the actual castle), we were done. Recklessly, I ran into the water, submerging myself in the salty waves. I laughed and waved at Marissa, knowing she was not going to follow. I told myself I d stay in for just a minute longer, and then I would go back to the shore. I sank below the waves once more, fully expecting to return to Marissa on the shore. When I shook the stinging water from my eyes, I was astounded to see Marissa wading in after me. I yelled out a surprised greeting and swam back to meet her. We swam until we got tired, using the big waves to propel us and slamming into the smaller waves. She did not end up regretting her ocean venture, even though her skin burned for a short time after we left the water. She was loyal to me, even with something as small as jumping in the ocean when she knew it would sting her skin, which brought her fond memories and a fun time. Freud began to put emphasis on the sexual experiences of childhood and he lost the support of Breuer. Freud continued his work alone and he published three more books. Freud s work was not well recognized because of his emphasis on sex. He went on to publish more than twenty theoretical volumes and clinical studies. He continued to develop his ideas until he died of cancer in 1939. One of Freud s theories was the psychosexual stages of development. It is important to recognize that Freud changed the meaning of sexuality to any form of pleasure that can be or is gathered from the body. Freud based his theory on the thought that all human instincts and drives were based on the desire to gain or increase bodily pleasure. The problem is even if the price of PCs plummets the effect is not felt immediately, because people do not rush to change their PC despite the fact they are getting it cheaper, which means the PC turnover rate is low like most durable goods. • 33. Farmers In The Middle Ages Essay Pressures on the Farmers in the Middle Ages Without a reliable and plentiful food source it is impossible for a society to progress. In the Middle Ages neither was available until later after the 1300 s. Ironically it was the disastrous events of the Great European Famine and the Black Death that pressured agricultural demands. This forced improvements in the varieties of crops and the production. The events all started out in the spring of 1315. Unfortunately the April showers did not bring May flowers, it only brought more rain. The rain would last for two years. A natural disaster of deficient crop and starvation was arising. To most observers the first major effect of the weather of 1315, 1316, and 1317 was the material devastation caused by the rains and the flooding that ensued; seedbeds sodden, crops and... (Williams, 2007, p.85) As the wages, and production costs rose, the prices of food had to drop, because of oversupply. There was a more supply of food than there was for the people that were alive. Peasant farmers had a positive outcome financially. Since the population was decreasing, the amount of laborers was scarce. Demands for peasants increased, and they were asking for more money to their job. The lords had to pay and were not happy with the power peasants were receiving. This phenomena was known as the Peasants Revolt of 1381 where a poll tax was created after the Black Death against the peasants and landowners to help pay war debt. This would add to more struggles to Middle Age agriculturists. It was much harder on the peasants, who could ill afford to pay, especially as the tax was collected in cash and not in farm ... • 34. Exploitation And Societal Reorganization Of Karl Marx And... Sabrina Gibson Honors Mosaics II Professor Smetona 09 November 2015 Exploitation and Societal Reorganization Karl Marx and Mary Wollstonecraft are both philosophers who have observed the relationships between ruling and ruled classes of people. In Marx s text Capital he discusses how there must exist a bourgeois class that exploits a class of proletarians in order for capitalism to exist. Mary Wollstonecraft in her work A Vindication of the Rights of Woman argues that a patriarchal society in which women are forced to depend on men for every aspect of their lives is exploitation and detrimental to everyone involved. A concept that is shared between these two works is that a society that depends on the domination and exploitation of a class will naturally reorganize into a society that has a balance between classes. The exploitation of workers by capitalists is necessary for a capitalist society to exist properly. When viewing the relations between members of a capitalist society as individuals, it can seem that capitalism is based on freedom and equality. The proletariat class, or those who do not own any means of production, sell their labor power to the bourgeoisie, or capitalists. The proletariats are free to sell their labor power to whichever industry they choose, and will be compensated fairly for their work in the form of wages. This concept of labor power is an integral part of Marx s argument about capitalism. He explains that labor power is the mental and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some researcher say that laughter is the best medicine a human can get. There are many different ways to get a good laugh. Whether it s from seeing a funny movie, watching funny videos on the internet, or telling jokes with your friends. Personally, my favorite way to get a quick laugh is to exchange funny jokes between my friends. Some of the best jokes are the ones that might come off a little racist if said to the wrong person. He would say that not all the jokes that are directed towards a certain ethnic group are racist. That we need to be able to distinguish the humor that is morally unobjectionable and the humor that is not. (Philips) It all depends who the audience is during the telling of a joke. • 39. Stewardship Theory Theories Identify the main differences between each of the theoretical perspectives outlined by Tricker The theoretical perspectives presented by Tricker clearly outline the importance that is now attached to corporate governance but also support the view that there remains an absence of one accepted framework, central to each perspective however is the focus on relationships and the impact the foundation of these relationships has on the subsequent approach to governance. The agency theory The basis of which is described as a contractual relationship between an agent and a principal wherein the agent is engaged to act on behalf of principal, the presumption being that in such a relationship both parties act solely in their own interest which may not always be aligned. The theory is based on the belief that people are naturally greedy and self serving and that the agents will not exercise the same level of care and diligence as they would were it their own property for which they were responsible for. The argument is made in the readings that this theory may be redundant in a modern context given the size of some organisations and the relevant distance that may now exist between the original principal and the agent, however the theory and the dilemma associated with it are the basis of a large proportion of corporate governance rules as efforts were made to have in place the required level of protection for principles.... Likewise, reading and writing provide us with impeccable information and allows individuals to liberally express their valid and unique opinions with different uses of toneгѓјdetail, syntax and imagery . This powerful addition to our communication allows society to thoroughly comprehend the attitude in which an individual is speaking with. Regarding this, Mistero Buffo s story, The Birth of the Jongleur initiates these values.
