Communicative Language Teaching
The Goal of Communicative Language Teaching Method: According to Cook (2003), the focus of
Communicative Language Teaching Method is primarily social. Therefore, its main goal is to
enable the learners to communicate successfully in the target language. In order to achieve that
goal, the learners have to be communicatively competent. Communicative competence can be
defined according to Saville and Troike (2003) as What a speaker needs to know to communicate
appropriately within a particular language community . Which means that the learners in
Communicative Language Teachingmethod will not only know the vocabulary, phonology and
grammar, but also they ll know how to use the language for several purposes, how to differentiate
between the uses of the language depending on the situations and the participants and they ll able
to classify and produce different kinds of texts. In addition, able to do all of these effectively with
appropriate, accurate and fluent language (Saville Troike, 2006, p. 100).... Show more content on

This type of activities introduces the students to real life communication where people usually
communicate to exchange information they do not know. (p. 18)
в–ЄActivities focus on fluency and accuracy: Fluency an Accuracy in language are important goals
in Communicative Language Teaching. Therefore, teachers try to find activities to develop these
two aspects of the learners language. Fluency is the ability to speak or read smoothly using
variable expresses. Whereas accuracy is the ability to produce the sentences correctly without
grammatical mistakes. In order to develop the accuracy and fluency the teachers and the material
writers have to understand the focuses of each one of them (Richards, 2006 p. 14).
Example of activities focus on fluency:

The Judicial Arms Of The Eu
The Court of Justice of the European Union and the General Court are the judicial arms of the EU .
Critically analyse with reference to the function, personnel and procedures of these two EU courts.
Since the UK joined the EU in 1973 under Edward Heath the UK legal system has been inferior to
the EU legal system. The EU s main judicial arms are the Court of the Justice of the European Union
(CJEU) which was established under the European Coal and Steel Community Treaty (1951) and
the General Court (GC) which was established in 1986. The General Court was originally
referred to as the Court of First Instance however has since been renamed under the Lisbon
Treaty (2009) as the GC in which cases can be appealed to the CJEU but only on points of law.
The EU is only able to legislate on areas where it is empowered to by treaties for example on areas
such as trade, competition, single market legislation, agriculture and justice.
The CJEU is the highest court in the EU. It is comprised of one judge from each member state
and is supported by eight Advocate Generals whose role it is to provide an impartial and public
opinion on the case brought before the CJEU. The primary function of the CJEU is to ensure that
the interpretation and application of the EU law established by treaties is observed (Treaty of
Rome: 1958). This is a necessity as the homogenous responsibility of the EU needs to be maintained
as to insure community relationships between member states. The GC is a branch

Why William Won The Battle Of Hastings
The date 1066 is etched into the brains of the English as it was the day their country changed
forever...
The scene is Battle, a field just outside of the city of Hastings, a raging clash between William the
Conqueror and Harold Godwinson had begun and England s future would depend on the victor.
After endless fighting William ended up victorious, but why? The battle of Hastings was fought on
14th October 1066 on Senlac hill and the conflict started when King Edward died and left no heir
to inherit the crown, which left 3 men who were all claiming to be the next King of England. The
main points being discussed will be talking about why William won the battle of Hastings, how
he was more lucky and had the advantage over Harold in the battle of Hastings and how William
was more skilful and better prepared than Harold in the battle of Hastings. While William was very
skilful at Hastings Research shows that he was rather lucky. ... Show more content on

This paragraph will be giving a brief explanation to why William won. Williams s knowledge of
war combined with his lucky timing allowed William to successfully invade Harold and take
England for himself. Harold s loss was due to many reasons, some of these reasons include that
Harold s army had recently fought Haralds and were exhausted and weakened in numbers. In
addition, it is estimated that Williams s army consisted of 5000 infantry and 3000 knights, which
stomped on Harold s 2500 houscarls and 6000 members of the fyrd (markedbyteachers ,
2015).This meant that William had a well trained and experienced army and Harold only had
inexperienced slaves on his side. This backs up my point that William was luckier but also brings
up the idea that William was better

The Oregon-California Gold Rush
Word eventually got out. On Friday May 12 Sam Brannan brought proof of gold to San
Francisco where he shouted Gold! Gold! Gold from the American River! (60). His motivation
for sharing the news was that he wanted to sell equipment to those who wanted to go on the
hunt for gold. Shortly after this, four thousand people were out looking for gold. Thus, many
stores were empty and newspapers were forced to shut down. The hunt for gold was thought to
be a fever Among those who flocked to the gold were soldiers who abandoned their posts in
pursuit of wealth. (61). They were only making a mere six dollars while some of the gold miners
were making over seventy. One soldier even stated, I had a violent attack of gold fever. (61). The

The journey to California was extremely difficult. The prices were extraordinary with some boat
tickets costing up to $450. There were also many trails traversed in a manner that lacked
hygiene. Thus, many either faced adversary or simply did not make it. Those who did not make
it were most likely harmed by the poor conditions or disease such as cholera along the Overland
Trail in 1849. Out of all the trails, the Oregon California Trial still proved the most popular
overland route (66). It was estimated that over 100,000 travelers had used said trail by 1851.
With the news of gold spreading, many young Asians left to pursue gold. Manny Europeans also
made their journey to California. Between the years of 1847 and 1851, Irish immigration more
than doubled. California quickly became a melting pot of many races including: blacks,
Hawaiians, Peruvians, Germans, Mexicans, and the Chinese. Due to the many races represented
in California, there were also many languages and cultures. On February 2, 1848, in a 15 million
dollar cash deal, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was signed which added the land that Texas,
New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and California occupy to the United States. The
expansion in land lead to expansion in other ways as well. In 1851, a survey showed 537 liquor
stores, 46 gambling houses, and 48 houses of prostitution (69). One can clearly see there was a lot
of money to be made. With so much money on the line, people found ways to maximize their
profits. With the same spirit, the Anglos forced many people from the mines with violent threats.
They would then tax those who remained. This tax was in the form of a sixteen dollar a month
foreign miner s tax. In an effort to make even more money, ...the California legislature enacted
another foreign miner s tax aimed specifically at the Chinese... (70).

Vulnerable John Lennon
The opening chords of the soft and folk sounding acoustic guitar introduce the listener to a
completely vulnerable John Lennon on vocals. In this song, Lennon attempts to create a folk
song by imitating one of his main influencers at the time, Bob Dylan. We hear a different side of
John Lennon that focuses on the emotional experience, rather than rock n roll. In the first stanza,
we can assume that Lennon has just got through an unexpected break up with a woman that he
is clearly in love with. He goes on to say, Here I stand head in hand / Turn my face to the wall we
can see hat Lennon feels completely hopeless and alone as he tries to understand how he ended up
in this dreadful situation. As he begins to think over the situation he realizes that it will be
impossible to go one with life if the woman he loves isn t by his side. Lennon shows his
sentimental side by mentioning that he feels, Two foot small ... Show more content on

He is constantly assuming that each passerby is judging him because his girlfriend has left him.
He even goes on to say that he can see people laughing directly at him. We can assume the
laughter is felt because his girlfriend left him for another man. The last line in the stanza states
the following, And I hear them say. Then, the song shifts to the chorus which shows the peoples
response and advice toward Lennon and his heartbreak. The advice is sung loudly and it seems
like a crowd of people are giving John Lennon advice. The people suggests the following, Hey you
ve got to hide your love away this shows that the people don t want Lennon to show his emotions
and heartbreak. They suggest that it is something you deal with internally, rather than expressing
yourself. This shows that the people feel that he is embarrassing himself by being emotional and

The Fischer Esterification Of An Unknown Acid
Fischer Esterification
5. Introduction In this experiment, the Fischer Esterification of an unknown acid and an unknown
alcohol was used to prepare an unknown ester. Sulfuric acid was used as a catalyst in the reaction
which then was put under reflux. After cooling, the pH of the solution was raised to approximately
8 using sodium carbonate. Diethyl ether was added, then the aqueous layer was removed and the
organic layer was washed with sodium chloride. The aqueous layer was removed again and sodium
sulfate was added. The unknown product was then identified using gas chromatography (GC) to
obtain the retention time.
6. Data and Results The GC data for the product produced graph with a signal level out of range in
peak. This gave a retention time 2.952 minutes. This would not indicate any of the possible ester
products. However, after appropriate dilution, a retention time of 1.753 minutes was obtained. This
retention time indicates that the ester product was ethyl benzoate.
7. Discussion and Conclusion Hydrogens, alkyls, or aryls bonded to carboxyl groups made up
of a carbonyl group and a hydroxyl group are known as carboxylic acids. Derivatives of
carboxylic acids include acid chlorides, esters, anhydrides, amides, and generally nitriles. These
derivatives are formed by the replacement of the hydroxyl group with a different electronegative
heteroatom substituent, which can be a single atom, such as a chlorine atom, or a group of atoms,
such as in the formation of

Concentration Of MIBK, Ethanol And Water In The Feed And...
In this experiment the concentrations of MIBK, ethanol and water in the Feed, Extract and
Raffinate streams were determined at Steady State, which would then be used with the equilibrium
data provided to calculate the theoretical number of stages required for separation. Once Steady
State was achieved, the components water, ethanoland MIBK reached consistent mole percent
(mol%) values of 85.48 %, 13.15 % and 1.37 % respectively for the Extract Stream. Conversely, the
Raffinate Stream was had water, ethanol and MIBK mol% values of 12.84 %, 4.75 % and 82.41 %
respectively.
As per the sample calculations in Appendix C, the Karr Reciprocating Plate Column effectively
extracted 90.24 % of the ethanol from the Feed stream into the Extract stream. As was expected, the
agitation aided in the separation process considering more surface area was made available for
interface interaction with smaller droplets.
Calculation of the number of equilibrium stages required, had to be done using a Ternary Diagram
(Figure 4). Equilibrium data was provided that could be plotted (Table A3); however, an average of
the component mol% for the Raffinate, Extract Feed and Solvent streams had to be determined.
This required the conversion the experimental data of the normalized volume percent (vol%) in
Table A1 into mol% values, so the data points could be plotted on the Ternary Triangular Diagram.
Conversion from vol% to mol% was done by through consideration of the components respective

LESSON 1 1. Which of the instructional materials enumerated in this lesson do you often use? Are
there categories you have not tried? Why?
Materials often used: A. Printed and Duplicated Materials
I do use a lot of printed materials in teaching my pupils. I do find that my pupils do better when
we are making use of the board but I do need an evidence to show how the pupil is doing to their
parent or guardian and that is by means of printed materials. B. Non Projected Display Materials
I handle kids with different needs; one for example is that I have pupils with Autism. Those who
are on the spectrum learn best with visual materials that is why the center that I m in has a lot of

3. If your school has been using software in teaching, pick out a particular lesson or unit based on
the software description. What are its merits as well as its limitations? Some of my pupils are
children with autism. Part of their characteristics is that they have a hard time distinguishing others
body parts from them. One computer application that we use is the Our Body Parts . This app helps
my pupils identify their body parts and helps them understand that they can get things using their
own hand.

Deception In The Tragedy Of Hamlet
In Shakespeare s play, The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, the main character,
Hamlet deceives others through the need to get revenge for his father s death . Hamlet s deception
and need for revenge continues to cause him to question himself and his existence. In doing this, he
is an indecisive character . Hamlet is additionally deceiving his own friends and family, causing
them to feel the pain just so he avenge his father s honor. The meaning of the play as a whole is
that deceit bears no certainty in life and death. How can one make a lasting impact when they can
so easily be forgotten when they die? Hamlet is constantly questioning the significance of worth in

Hamlet intended to mislead is friends, family and himself although he did not intend for the killing
of one another in the final act. Without deception there would be no tragic events happening in the
play. Weather it was good or bad deception is the man part of the story. If the betraying did not

The queen would not have betrayed the king and Hamlet and Hamlet would not be acting insane.
Also everyone would still be alive and no pain would happen in the country of Denmark. The pain

The Rule of the Major Generals
The Major General rule was an idea by Cromwell to help reduce the threat of royalist conspiracy
and to help further his need for healing and settling . However, the rule lasted less than a year due
its unpopularity and lack of support from the local gentry. In addition, the Major Generals
themselves were either inconsistent in their application of the aims or were negligent in their
duties. Furthermore, the unrealistic aims of the rule set them up for failure before the rule had
even begun, historian Farr comments on the limits of the generals power and the fact that it s no
wonder the rule failed as the scope of the tasks were impossible to fulfil.
Whilst all of these factors play a part in the failure of the Major Generals rule, the most significant
is its negligence by the Major Generals themselves. Its unpopularity and unrealistic aims could have
been overcome if every generals was both optimistic about their role and fully committed to the
cause. The lack of responsibility of the Major Generals led to the public not thinking they could
support the rule, and rather than help the rule, cause its demise. Farr further suggests that it was its
practical failure, rather than alleged unpopularity which led to the rule failing. However, Sharp
explains that the establishment of the Major Generals did more to alienate the gentry than any other
move and in terms on of healing and settling , it was a disaster.
The rule of the Major Generals was not popular, the gentry deeply

Eyewitness Testimony Of The Human Eye
In eyewitness testimony the human eye can distort or change what it sees. There are many
intricate parts of the eye that contribute to people s daily vision. Not everyone has the same form
and order of cells in their eyes. The rod cells are located on the perimeter of the retina. While the
cone cells are compacted together in the middle of the retina. Both of these cell types are clustered
together but, are not placed evenly throughout the eye. When the form of the cells create central
vision the vision is clear. The other form of the eye is peripheral vision which has less clear
vision. When someone looks around the eye can take a quick glance at an object and see many
things, yet so much is going on in the eye to produce this image. The eyes take in everything they
see to create a smooth movement. This makes the brainlook at it as a motion picture. The eyes see
three dimensional to notice every side of an object. This can result in two different types of
vision. Binocular vision which is where sight is produced from both eyes. The other type is
Stereoscopic vision where both eyes collect different angles of an image and gives it depth. All the
different forms and and visions in the eye can create a different perception for each individual. The

The Islamic Civilization And Islam
One cannot have an adequate and well versed discussion about Islamic civilization without first
defining two key terms: Civilization and Islam. Associate Professor at Washington University in St.
Louis, Ahmet Karamustafa, defines civilizations as, nothing more than a particular, even unique
combination of ideas and practice that groups of human actors who are the real agents of human
history affirm as their own and use to define and develop their own sense of presence and agency
in the world (Karamustafa 103). Thus, guided by this definition, we have an understanding of
Islamic Civilization as a religious movement guided by the mandates of God. Of course, anywhere
where there is human organization and interaction, there will be politics involved. Although there
were some political aspects in the community of the Believers under the leadership of the prophet,
at the core of this movement was the belief in his prophetic authority. I will argue that Islam, despite
all the political implications it has had throughout history, is ultimately rooted in religious belief,
submission to God, and living a pious life in accordance with God s commands for achieving
eternal salvation. Furthermore, In the course of this paper, I will give a brief introduction of
Islamic civilization broken up into four parts that are integral to understanding Islamic civilization:
Politics and religion in the early community of the believers, governance after the death of the
prophet,

Signs Life In The Usa Analysis
When you think about technological progress chances are you think about your own life
becoming more convenient. A fire was easier to start with a chunk of flint than rubbing two sticks
together, and once it was discovered it was utilized out of convenience. Convenience has always
driven innovation, so it s not an unrealistic assumption to expect a more convenient life in the
future. It s not all sunshine and rainbows though, as convenience means work transferred to
machines, which means less work for people. In the past this has meant a transfer in the job
market, old careers being replaced with new ones, and fields opening up which did not exist before.
With the automation possible today we are seeing an exponential trend of automation, with more
jobs being replaced by machines than are being... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Sonia Maasik and Jack Solomon s anthology Signs of Life in the USA, they include an essay
by Jenkins, in which he introduces his black box fallacy, stating that humanity will always look
for a singular device that will accomplish virtually every task. Jenkins uses such examples as
smartphones to illustrate the natural pursuit to converge all our tasks onto one device (Jenkins
427). Jenkins argues that this is an impossibility, and that as new technology is developed old
technology must adapt. While we may never quite reach Jenkin s black box we can come close,
as demonstrated by the very example he uses. A smartphone may be replaced by a device even
more useful someday, but in the present exists as an invaluable communication device. Even if
society offers resistance at first, technologies such as 3D printing and APM machines will force
economic reform, and if not those specific technologies it will be something in the more distant

Cause And Effect Of Tsunami
How is a tsunami caused?
There are different ways of how a tsunami is caused. A tsunami is a series of waves created by an
abrupt movement on the ocean floor that can result from an earthquake, meteorite or a volcanic
eruption. However, powerful undersea earthquakes are responsible for most tsunamis. For example,
on the 11th of March 2011 a devastating tsunami occurred on the east coast of Japan, which was
caused by an earthquake at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. The magnitude of the earthquake
which caused the Japanese tsunami was recorded as 9.1 on the richer scale. This was very similar
to the tsunami that occurred on the 26th of December in the Indian Ocean, which had a huge impact
on many countries such as India, Thailand and Indonesia. The magnitude of the earthquake that
occurred in the Indian Ocean was also 9.1 on the richer scale.
Where the disasters most commonly occur
Tsunamis can occur anywhere in the world where land meets the ocean. Two of the most recent
large scale tsunamis in modern history was in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean which
mainly effected India and Japan respectively. Tsunamis potentially threaten every coastal area and
river system in the world. However, they are most likely to occur on shores directly facing a large
body of water where an undersea earthquake may occur. Scientists estimate that almost three
quarters of the worlds tsunamis occur in the Pacific Ocean as this is the largest ocean in the entire
world.

Sex Education And Public Schools Essay
In this paper I will address virginity, first sexual experiences, sex education in public schools,
and abortion. The first two topics, virginity and first sexual experiences, coming from a personal
perspective as well as some credible sources. I will also include the historical aspects of virginity,
the creation and use of the concept, and why it s in our society. The last topic is my concern for
the lack of sex education in public schools and mentioning the harm of abstinence only sex
education and the importance to provide comprehensive education for our youth for protection and
lifelong sexual satisfaction. I will also include my experience with sex education and how limited
or censored topics can be detrimental to children by second guessing their understanding of
necessary and critical sexual information.
Virginity. Anyone is familiar with the term virginity. Whichever way the word was introduced to
us all throughout our lives we have either been taught by parents or educators about the word and
the concept of virginity or we have figured it out by word of mouth among our peers. By
definition, according to a simple Google search, virginity is the state of never having had sexual
intercourse or the state of being naive, innocent, or inexperienced in a particular context. With the
concept of virginity there are myths that are deeply rooted to it that come from the historical and
societal aspects of our culture, despite the word virginity being prevalent for many

Personal Finance And Social Finance
Personal Finance has always been an emotional topic in the United States. Today, many Americans
are generating unlimited wealth and living exceptional lives, while others are struggling to make
ends meet. Evidently, people s actions and beliefs are the deciding factors in their achievement of
wealth. So, this huge gap in wealthbetween rich and poor people has a special connection with the
philosophy and attitude of each individual toward personal finance. Merriam Webster Dictionary
defined Philosophy as a set of ideas about how to do something or how to live. Therefore, each
person s philosophy is a major factor in how their personal finance works out because the
knowledge of facts, concepts, and principles will determine how people spend, save, and invest
their financial resources. Dr. E Thomas Garman is a renowned advisor and academic. Garman is
the author of 30 books and 200 research articles in personal finance and consumer economics.
Raymond E. Forgue professor at the University of Kentucky, they stated, You have to do only a
few things right in personal finance during your lifetime, as long as you do not do too many
things wrong. (Garman and Forgue 5) Clearly, many people are in the dark when it comes to
personal finance, their financial IQ is very limited. If only a few things done right is all people
need to succeed financially; evidently, they are doing many things wrong. Sadly, some people do

1.When allocating work, what things should be taken into consideration
When allocating work, you need to ensure that it is goal and target orientated. The manager and
employee need to set realistic goals that are achievable and also have time frames attached. It is
imperative to ensure that your staff members possess the necessary skills and have undertaken
suitable developmental activities to complete the work given. On occasion, the lack of such skills
can lead to perceived unfairness. A team member might, for example, feel upset that he or she is
not being allocated particular tasks which they feel they can accomplish. However, as a manager, if

The Development Of Absolutism During The Nineteenth...
In the course of the seventeenth century, there were many political and religious conflicts within
Europe. These struggles affected countless nations across the continent, but almost none were as
troubled as France due to the years of religious wars fought out within their territories, which
caused widespread chaos in their lands. Both, the upper and lower class citizens were exhausted by
these conflicts and were supportive of a new style of government. In attempt to maintain the
integrity and stability of their country, French kings started to gradually adopt the political ideal of
absolutism to maintain total control over their nation. The final goal of this ideal was to achieve
the good of the state and a higher level of national existence. The development of absolutism in
France can be thoroughly analyzed both in theory and in practice by looking at three kings and
their cardinal advisors who consecutively ruled France leading up too, and in the seventeenth
century. This development of absolutism can be firstly seen through Henry the fourth, followed by
Louis the thirteenth and most prominently in Louis the fourteenth. In the last quarter of the
sixteenth century, France was in the middle of its wars of religion, otherwise known as the
Huguenot Wars. These wars were fought between the reformed Protestants and Catholics which
lead to the death of approximately three million people. In addition to this, these conflicts also
caused widespread disease and starvation

people. Approximately, 78 percent of women enterprises belong to the services sector. Women
entrepreneurship is largely skewed towards smaller sized firms, as almost 98 percent of women
owned businesses are micro enterprises. As with the broader MSME sector, access to formal
finance is a key barrier to the growth of women owned businesses, leading to over 90 percent of
finance requirements being met through informal sources. The total finance requirement of women
owned MSMEs in 2012 was around Indian rupees 8.68 trillion ($158 billion).
Within the segment, small enterprises led the demand for financing: around Indian rupees 6.42
trillion ($116 billion), approximately 74 percent of the total requirement. This was mostly due to
unmet working capital and investment finance needs. Micro enterprises with a requirement of
Indian rupees 2.05 trillion ($37 billion), accounted for 24 percent. Most of this requirement was
largely focused around working capital needs. Women owned medium scale enterprises, which
account for 0.01 percent of the total MSME sector had finance requirements of around Indian
rupees 0.21 trillion ($4 billion), about 2 percent of the total requirement. Microfinance loans for
seed capital allow women borrowers build credit habits and become more bankable. Thus,

Julius Caesar as the Noblest Roman of Them All
In William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar the victorious Mark Antony calls his rival Brutus, the
noblest Roman of them all . At the start of the play we witnessed Cassius persuade Brutus to join a
conspiracy to kill Caesar.
In my essay I intend to discuss four main characters in order to prove or disapprove Mark Antony s
statement.
The play starts off with Julius Caesar entering Rome after his victory in the civil war against
Pompey. Some of the conspirators feel that Caesar has become too powerful so they conceive a

I am now going to discuss Cassius. I would say that Cassius was a very devious and selfish man.
Cassius approached Brutus in act 1, to tell him that he felt that Caesar was becoming too
powerful Why man he doth bestride the narrow world like a colossus, and we petty men walk
under his huge legs Cassius then sent flattering letters through Brutus window saying that he
would be a better emperor than Caesar. On night Brutus could not sleep, he justifies the idea of
killing Caesar to himself. That same night all of the conspirators arrive at Brutus house and all
decide to kill Caesar at the Senate house the following day. Cassius and Brutus disagree over
killing Mark Antony but then they both decide not to. They also have an argument later in act 4

Current Trends On The Construction Industry
Current Trends in the Construction Industry
Beginning a new year of the construction industry with a report of 6% growth (achieved
approximately $712 billion) in the financial profit of construction from Dodge Data Analytics 2016
Construction Outlook, many analysts and experts predict that potential values for the construction
business will be progressively increased with extensions of modern technologies and state of the art
concepts for improving construction performance, especially in project cost and schedule
achievements (Peiffer, 2016). Although it is noticeable that diverse tendencies, including
prefabrication or offsite constructions, green buildings, remodeling, etc., are taking higher place in
the next decades, true collaborations, sophisticated building modeling tools, and practical value
boosted procedures are always bottom lines for a blossoming construction project. It is
unquestionable that construction project costs and schedule are spectacularly difficult to predict by
reason of complexity of building procedures and presence of thousands of dependent variables
throughout a project. As a result, duties and responsibilities of forecasting and envisioning project
cost and schedule performance are considered as momentous challenges and complicated issues for
all construction experts and professionals (Ai et al., 2015). Growing from these concerns, a
suggestion of synergizing components that particular affect the cost and schedule efficiency is

Symbolism in The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck
At first glance John Steinbeck s The Chrysanthemums seems to be a story of a woman whose

The Effects Of Lust And Love
Lust and love are total opposites. Lust is a primary ingredient of sex addiction. I find out that
people are often confused about what lust is. Lust is harmful to the body, mind and spirit, and it
can easily be mistaken for love, as we can see in the book of 2Samuel 13:1 4, with Amnon, son of
King David, erroneously getting involved with his own sister, Tamar. Lust has the opposite effect
of love. Love is spiritual while lust is Carnal; and the Holy Biblesays that God is love.
What really is lust and how do I differentiate lust from love? When Amnon said I am in love with
my sister Tamar was the bible telling us the obvious or what Amnon assume he had for her? We
need to understand this very well because very many of us have gone into relationship, thinking
we are driving by love when in actual lust is driving us. The bible simply told us what Amnon
thought he had for his sister, genuine love do not think nor demand sex first, the simplest way to

Light colors do a better job of reflecting the sun s light and heat; dark colors absorb more heat. A

Speaking of colors, you might want to evaluate whether you really need to stick with your brand
colors. If your brand colors are red and turquoise, do you really want your building to be so
overwhelmingly extreme? Outlandish color schemes can make it harder to sell your property if
you need to move to another location, and the other property owners may feel that you are

Trying to match the color of your roof to the color of your building is probably not the best of

Gone With The Wind Analysis
Gone with the Wind opens with beautiful shots of the Georgian countryside, accompanied by
sweeping romantic music and the sentiment rolling down the screen: There was a land of
Cavaliers and Cotton Fields called the Old South. Here in this pretty world, Gallantry took its
last bow. Here was the last ever to be seen of Knights and their Ladies Fair, of Master and of
Slave. Look for it only in books, for it is no more than a dream remembered, a Civilization gone
with the wind (Selznick) The film explicitly describes its objectives before the audience even sees
the famous Scarlett O Hara. Nostalgia for this old Southern way of life is palpable throughout the
entirety of the film and we see an alternate world portraying benevolent white slaveholders, their
complacent, jolly slaves, and the noble Cause of the confederacy they tirelessly fought for.
However, when viewed in the modern context, this illusion of the South is easily broken and the
historical inaccuracies become evident underneath the appearance of Southern romanticism.
Though Gone with the Wind romanticizes slaveryand the Old South and glosses over racial issues,
it represents an important part of American history in its portrayal of white southern attitudes
during the civil war.
Gone with the Wind is so broadly interpreted, which makes it is very difficult to say that this film
focuses on one specific aspect of Southern life . From watching the film it is very clear that the
southern pride and way of life is

Influences of the Rationalist, Structuralist and...
What influence have the rationalist, structuralist and culturalist theoretical approaches had on the
study of comparative politics?
Comparative politics is the empirical comparative study of political systems. It involves the
classification and comparison of institutions a rule that has been institutionalised (Lane and Ersson,
1999: 23) in order to determine the nature of political regimes. The study of comparative politics
has come to be guided by three major research schools: rational choice theory, culturalist analysis
and structuralist approaches; each of which spearhead a distinctive notion over what about
institutions affects the nature of the political process. Rationalists are methodological individualists
who assert that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cultural theorists therefore focus their studies on group level processes (ibid) when conducting
research. However, as highlighted by survey researchers Almond and Verba, by identifying cultural
variables, it is almost inevitable that analysts will engage in generalised comparative study.
Synthesis can be found between cultural analysis and less rigid forms of structural institutionalism.
Political theorist Antonio Gramsci pointed out that coherence between these two schools of thought
can be found when considering the fact that whilst, according to Marxist teachings, capitalist
societies are based on underlying structural conflict between the proletariat and the bourgeoisie, the
manifestation of such conflict is dependent on the cultural circumstances of the country concerned.
Similarly to culturalists, structuralists adopt a form of methodological holism. Structuralists task
themselves with identifying the underlying dynamics that govern social systems as a whole, and
upon doing so are able to embark on comparison between larger groups of countries governed by
similar systems; they are unconcerned by the micro details of the political process (Bara and
Pennington, 1997: 26). It is therefore said that a structuralist approach appertains to the
relationships both static and dynamic among individuals, collectivities, institutions, or organisations
(Lichbach, 1997: 247).
Rationalist theorists stipulate that individuals act to

The Pros And Cons Of All-Wheel Drive Vehicles
In all wheel drive vehicles, the transmission delivers torque to both front and rear wheels.
Generally speaking, you are better off driving in one in snowy conditions. With torque on each
wheel, you are less likely to get stuck in the snow, will drive better on up hills, and will
accelerate better in the snow. All of these advantages come in handy. However, many of the
vehicles that end up in ditches or involved in collisions in slippery road conditions are all wheel
drive vehicles. The reason for this is a lack of understanding of what all wheel drive can and
cannot do. This lack of understanding produces a dangerous overconfidence that causes the
motorist to drive too fast and follow other vehicles too closely for the road conditions. As

Examples Of Pathos In Thank You For Smoking
Thank You for Smoking released in 2006 is based on the book titled the same by Christopher
Buckley in 1994. Thank You for Smoking is a satirical film that focuses on the hidden agendas
and dark truths of Big Tobacco. The film follows Nick Naylor, head lobbyist for Big Tobacco and
his demise through his endorsement for cigarettes. Throughout the movie Nick Naylor showcases
his persuasiveness in almost every scene. In a scene with his son Joey, Naylor is asked Why is the
American government the best government in the world? After pointing out the bias within the
question Naylor went on to tell his son that the question could be answered in many ways. Naylor
proclaimed, That s the beauty of argument, if you argue correctly, you re never... Show more content

As you may expect, sitting next to a young boy who has gotten cancer from smoking Nick is the
target amongst the panel and Ron s plan works. However, Nick is able to quickly turn the tables,
he tells the audience that It s in our (Big Tobacco) best interests to keep Robin alive and smoking,
(Reitman, 2006). and he adds that, The anti smoking people want Robin to die. so that their
budget can go up (Reitman, 2006). Nick ends the scene by telling the audience that Big Tobacco
is launching a 50 million dollar campaign to persuade kids not to smoke and the crowd goes
wild. This is the first time we get to see Nick s skill. Although, he has not acknowledged the
mortality caused by cigarettes he successfully uses pathos to tap into the audience s emotions.
Initially, when the crowds see the sick boy they look at Naylor to blame because he endorses the
deadly sticks, but after Nick proves to them that it is in Big Tobacco s best interest that Robin
lives because they would lose a customer the audience is swayed and forgets that the reason
Robin is dying is because of Big Tobacco. In this case Naylor uses pathos to redirect the audience
s anger at Ron Goody. During Naylor s interview with Heather Holloway when asked about why
he does his job he confesses that he does it for the mortgage. Naylor doesn t really pose an

A Social Worker Coordinator On The United States
Upon learning from a Connecticut National Guard recruiter that I was ineligible to enlist in any
branch of the United States Armed Forces due to a chronic illness that will require medication
indefinitely, I was devastated. However, despite this devastation, it was my desire to serve and to
be a part of the militaryculture that became the driving force behind the decision to become a
certified Military Service Members, Veterans and Their Families Advanced Social Worker (MVF
ASW). Even though this career does not involve being on the front lines, I can still provide direct
services to the children of active duty service members as they navigate the extended deployments,
frequent moves and strained familial relationships. Even though this particular credential is not
mandatory to work as a youth services coordinator on a military base, it is recommended because it
will provide me with the specialized knowledge and understanding of military culture that can help
me to be a more effective social worker in this particular field.
In order to become a licensed social worker in the United States, one must hold at least a Bachelor s
in Social Work(BSW) from an accredited program. With a BSW or a degree in a related field,
the individual is able to provide the most basic of services to their clients such as casework or
being a mental health assistant (U.S. Bureau Labor Statistics, 2016). However, in order to provide
clinical mental and behavioral health services, a Master s in

The Experience Machine
Imagine a machine in which a person can experience whatever they wish. A person can undertake
the craziest things. They can climb Mount Everest, swim in the ocean, and go skydiving without
having money or time as a hindrance. Or imagine there is a medicine that causes a person to be
much less aware of pain, both theirs and others. The pain experienced with a broken bone, or
with healing from psychological hurts would no longer be present. I will be arguing that such a
machine or such a medicine would diminish the fullness of life that can be acquired through
reality and the experience of pain. I will argue this by looking into fate and how living one s life
in a machine would take away a person s purpose, by looking into the importance of vulnerability
and genuineness in relationships, and lastly by looking into the purpose of pain and why pain is
a necessary part of human existence. The machine that allows for experiences of all sorts is
called the Experience Machine, and it is an idea that Robert Nozick created for his book Anarchy
(1974). The machine definition that we will be looking at is a machine where the person who is
in the machine is in the machine for the rest of their life, the person does not know that they are
within the machine while they are inside of it, and lastly only one person can be in the machine by
themselves, but they can experience other people while they are in there (the people that they
experience in the machine are just copies of the person

Female Characters in John SteinbeckВґs East of Eden
When it comes to female characters, authors depict women with a sense of realism, that being
that they are a common folk with a usually large but simple impact in the story. On the contrary,
John Steinbeck s female characters in his novel East of Eden do not have the sense of being
normal women, and he goes to extremes when it comes to the women being good or bad. Faye,
Olive, and Cathy are all women that have taken to extremes in their acts of kindness or evil. Faye
is too good of a person, especially in the society that she is in. Olive helps an enormous amount in
the military with work she has done that seemed unlikely for her to do by herself. Cathy, on the
other hand, commits horrible acts that would immediately classify her as mental, but is ironically
one of the smartest characters in the novel. These kinds of women are uncommon, especially in
their society.
Faye is the owner of a brothel and almost immediately takes in a new girl, Cathy, as her daughter.
There s plenty for both of us, Kate. I could give you as much as you make and more, and you d be
worth it. (301) Faye wants to give Cathy (who changed her name to Kate) more than she gives
herself, which is not something any other woman who owns a business would do, especially with
a girl that she has not known for more than a year. Faye didn t feel very good that Saturday night
and about ten o clock Kate persuaded her to go to bed. (326) Faye had taken a medicine Cathy had
given her and suddenly feels a change

Men And The Paradox Of Sexual Freedom By Leslie Bell Essay
Men and women face many social obstacles when faced within a community that has demanding
masculine and feminine roles. Men are projected to be extremely masculine and not allow fear,
anxiety, or vulnerability to show through. Women, on the other hand, are encouraged to be strong,
pursue their careers, and experiment with their sexuality. Although women are gaining power,
they are still left with a feeling of confusion about themselves. Leslie Bell author of, Hard to Get:
Twenty Something Women and the Paradox of Sexual Freedom , reveals the idea of women
experimenting sexually, but at the same time experiencing a sense of confusion and pressure to
settle down and marry in their twenties. The societal view is confusing for twenty something
women which causes women to demonstrate either/ or thinking within themselves. Bell s patient,
Jayantha is splitting her desires by deciding to be bad and rejecting relationship and not showing
signs of vulnerability. Due to her confusion, Jayanthi chose an identity that she could fully control;
the bad girl. As mentioned previously, men are also exposed to certain morals within society
which are explored in Susan Faludi s The Naked Citadel . All of the cadets live as humans behind
the walls of The Citadel, where they can express their inner humanity, escape from difficulties of
being a manin the real world, while still following the standards of manliness. The Citadel is a
place that allows men to detach from the societal

The Art of War for Managers
The Art of War for Managers
While The Art of War was written by Sun Tzu during the 6th century B.C., long before the
colonization of the Americas, the onslaught of the Crusades, and before the Persian Wars of
around 490 B.C., it remains relevant to this day. There is also strong evidence that the work
inspired Napoleon and was used in the planning of Operation Desert Storm. The Art of Warhas
withstood the sands of time due to its simplistic approach, and its applicability to non military
strategies. The Art of War , interpreted by Gerald, A. Michaelson, as well as other authors, use Sun
Tzu s timeless strategies and apply them to the modern day corporate world. The themes in The Art
of War seem to run parallel to those in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the business world, if too much time is taken, the chance of error contributing to failure
becomes greater. Sun Tzu says this: If the war is long delayed, the men s weapons will be
blunted and their ardor will be dampened. If too much time and energy is wasted, there will be
less efficiency. The faster you do things, the better off you are. If you manage your time well,
you will always be one step ahead of your opponent. You will have the luxury of looking back at
them while they struggle to get to the point you are already at. Also, if you arrive at a position
early, you will use less resources holding the position than others will use trying to reach that
position. The defense of a position is always easier than that of taking a position away from the
current leader. The longer it takes you to start, the more you will require. It s as simple as that.
Another interpreted quote of Sun Tzu is this: A victorious army wins its victories before seeking
battle; an army destined for defeat fights in the hope of winning . This can be applied directly to
the business world. As I suggested earlier, entrance into a market with low or no competition
maximizes the rate of success. If there is nobody to compete against in the beginning, you have
already won. It is then the responsibility of new companies in the market to work their way up to
where you are. Winning the battle before it has started

Many veterans have died serving this great nation they call their home; any son would be proud
to call that man his father. They showed a great amount of patriotism and heroism to take a
bullet for the red, white, and blue. If teens were forced to join a service program it would teach
them to: never take their eyes off of the flag during the National Anthem, respect their president,
and never lose faith in what they think is right. I once knew this old verteran, he lived down the
street from me and sat on his porch every day, looking onto his yard, at the flowers. I visited him
every Tuesday, after I was chasing my brother down the street and he tought me how to catch
him even faster. We talked for 45 minutes each time, and the whole time he talked about his time
in the service, his tactics, and his love for his country. He said that even now in his old age he
would take twice as many bullets for this country then when he was enrolled. Teens can experience
this love as well if they create this civil service

Reasons For Choosing Dw Sports
My reason for choosing DW Sports is due to that fact that it is an award winning Health club and
Retail business across the whole of the UK Northern Ireland. DW Sports also offers a variety of
high class products and they are also in conjunction with top brands like Adidas, Nike, Asics, New
Balance, Under Armour, Canterbury and many more. DW Sports is serious about becoming the
UK s number 1 go to retailer for online sporting goods.
My reason for selecting JD Sports is due to the fact that JD Sport has long been established as the
leading UK specialised multiple retailer of fashionable branded and own brand sports and casual
wear. The group now has over 400 stores and is continuing to grow. Therefore I feel like both
websites would be good to evaluate and in return get ideas of ways to make my website a success
when creating it.
I will start off by evaluating my first company website which is DW Sports. Firstly I am going to
talk about the colour scheme DW Sports have used. The overall colour scheme of the website is
red, white and black and these are the colours which are present within the company logo. I
personally feel like this was intentional to make their website and their products easily
identifiable as their own. I feel like the black background was a good idea as the red compliments
it and the writing is white and quite large therefore it stands out and it is clear to read.
The overall layout of the whole website I feel is simple while professional looking.

Comparing The American Revolution and The American Civil...
As we study American history we see that the saying, History repeats itself reveals much truth. As
we look closer at the American Revolution and the American Civil War, we can find many
similarities between the two. Another saying that is made known is that We learn from our
mistakes, ; but even the greatest men and women of our history did not follow. The main causes for
both wars were the fightfor liberty. If we are to analyze this issue in both wars, we see that the
conclusion of one war leads to the beginning of another. As Semisonic sings, Every new beginning
comes from some other beginnings end. ;

A pamphlet authored by Thomas Paine, became a real best seller and many after reading such
literature were ready to fight for their freedom. These legislatures were derived from the King of
England George III. He soon became the most disliked man in American homes. The Revolution
War brought the people together in a patriotic manner. Soon, a document that would change the
lives of many was constituted for the citizens of America. The Declaration of Independence was
then formed and granted all men freedom and equality.
Freedom was finally rewarded to Americans, but how they manipulate, it was up to them. Was
freedom and equality guaranteed for all men and women? Studying history we see that it does
differ and in the Declaration it states, all men are created equal. ; This gets interpreted as all white
men are created equal. In having such frame of mind, civilians began disputing. Not for the equal
rights primarily, but for the unlawful slavery that was occurring. This time in history many laws
and acts were distributed but often ignored such as the Fugitive Slave Acts 1850 and the Wilmont
Proviso of 1846. Both were set for the benefits in trying to start the unchaining of slavery. Similarly
to the Revolution, the Americans can be compared with the slaves of the United States. In parallel
with writings from the Revolution, the Civil War had some great writers that

  • 2. Communicative Language Teaching The Goal of Communicative Language Teaching Method: According to Cook (2003), the focus of Communicative Language Teaching Method is primarily social. Therefore, its main goal is to enable the learners to communicate successfully in the target language. In order to achieve that goal, the learners have to be communicatively competent. Communicative competence can be defined according to Saville and Troike (2003) as What a speaker needs to know to communicate appropriately within a particular language community . Which means that the learners in Communicative Language Teachingmethod will not only know the vocabulary, phonology and grammar, but also they ll know how to use the language for several purposes, how to differentiate between the uses of the language depending on the situations and the participants and they ll able to classify and produce different kinds of texts. In addition, able to do all of these effectively with appropriate, accurate and fluent language (Saville Troike, 2006, p. 100).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This type of activities introduces the students to real life communication where people usually communicate to exchange information they do not know. (p. 18) в–ЄActivities focus on fluency and accuracy: Fluency an Accuracy in language are important goals in Communicative Language Teaching. Therefore, teachers try to find activities to develop these two aspects of the learners language. Fluency is the ability to speak or read smoothly using variable expresses. Whereas accuracy is the ability to produce the sentences correctly without grammatical mistakes. In order to develop the accuracy and fluency the teachers and the material writers have to understand the focuses of each one of them (Richards, 2006 p. 14). • 3. The Judicial Arms Of The Eu The Court of Justice of the European Union and the General Court are the judicial arms of the EU . Critically analyse with reference to the function, personnel and procedures of these two EU courts. Since the UK joined the EU in 1973 under Edward Heath the UK legal system has been inferior to the EU legal system. The EU s main judicial arms are the Court of the Justice of the European Union (CJEU) which was established under the European Coal and Steel Community Treaty (1951) and the General Court (GC) which was established in 1986. The General Court was originally referred to as the Court of First Instance however has since been renamed under the Lisbon Treaty (2009) as the GC in which cases can be appealed to the CJEU but only on points of law. The EU is only able to legislate on areas where it is empowered to by treaties for example on areas such as trade, competition, single market legislation, agriculture and justice. The CJEU is the highest court in the EU. It is comprised of one judge from each member state and is supported by eight Advocate Generals whose role it is to provide an impartial and public opinion on the case brought before the CJEU. The primary function of the CJEU is to ensure that the interpretation and application of the EU law established by treaties is observed (Treaty of Rome: 1958). This is a necessity as the homogenous responsibility of the EU needs to be maintained as to insure community relationships between member states. The GC is a branch ... • 4. Why William Won The Battle Of Hastings The date 1066 is etched into the brains of the English as it was the day their country changed forever... The scene is Battle, a field just outside of the city of Hastings, a raging clash between William the Conqueror and Harold Godwinson had begun and England s future would depend on the victor. After endless fighting William ended up victorious, but why? The battle of Hastings was fought on 14th October 1066 on Senlac hill and the conflict started when King Edward died and left no heir to inherit the crown, which left 3 men who were all claiming to be the next King of England. The main points being discussed will be talking about why William won the battle of Hastings, how he was more lucky and had the advantage over Harold in the battle of Hastings and how William was more skilful and better prepared than Harold in the battle of Hastings. While William was very skilful at Hastings Research shows that he was rather lucky. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This paragraph will be giving a brief explanation to why William won. Williams s knowledge of war combined with his lucky timing allowed William to successfully invade Harold and take England for himself. Harold s loss was due to many reasons, some of these reasons include that Harold s army had recently fought Haralds and were exhausted and weakened in numbers. In addition, it is estimated that Williams s army consisted of 5000 infantry and 3000 knights, which stomped on Harold s 2500 houscarls and 6000 members of the fyrd (markedbyteachers , 2015).This meant that William had a well trained and experienced army and Harold only had inexperienced slaves on his side. This backs up my point that William was luckier but also brings up the idea that William was better ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Oregon-California Gold Rush Word eventually got out. On Friday May 12 Sam Brannan brought proof of gold to San Francisco where he shouted Gold! Gold! Gold from the American River! (60). His motivation for sharing the news was that he wanted to sell equipment to those who wanted to go on the hunt for gold. Shortly after this, four thousand people were out looking for gold. Thus, many stores were empty and newspapers were forced to shut down. The hunt for gold was thought to be a fever Among those who flocked to the gold were soldiers who abandoned their posts in pursuit of wealth. (61). They were only making a mere six dollars while some of the gold miners were making over seventy. One soldier even stated, I had a violent attack of gold fever. (61). The thought of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The journey to California was extremely difficult. The prices were extraordinary with some boat tickets costing up to $450. There were also many trails traversed in a manner that lacked hygiene. Thus, many either faced adversary or simply did not make it. Those who did not make it were most likely harmed by the poor conditions or disease such as cholera along the Overland Trail in 1849. Out of all the trails, the Oregon California Trial still proved the most popular overland route (66). It was estimated that over 100,000 travelers had used said trail by 1851. With the news of gold spreading, many young Asians left to pursue gold. Manny Europeans also made their journey to California. Between the years of 1847 and 1851, Irish immigration more than doubled. California quickly became a melting pot of many races including: blacks, Hawaiians, Peruvians, Germans, Mexicans, and the Chinese. Due to the many races represented in California, there were also many languages and cultures. On February 2, 1848, in a 15 million dollar cash deal, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was signed which added the land that Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and California occupy to the United States. The expansion in land lead to expansion in other ways as well. In 1851, a survey showed 537 liquor stores, 46 gambling houses, and 48 houses of prostitution (69). One can clearly see there was a lot of money to be made. With so much money on the line, people found ways to maximize their profits. With the same spirit, the Anglos forced many people from the mines with violent threats. They would then tax those who remained. This tax was in the form of a sixteen dollar a month foreign miner s tax. In an effort to make even more money, ...the California legislature enacted another foreign miner s tax aimed specifically at the Chinese... (70). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Vulnerable John Lennon The opening chords of the soft and folk sounding acoustic guitar introduce the listener to a completely vulnerable John Lennon on vocals. In this song, Lennon attempts to create a folk song by imitating one of his main influencers at the time, Bob Dylan. We hear a different side of John Lennon that focuses on the emotional experience, rather than rock n roll. In the first stanza, we can assume that Lennon has just got through an unexpected break up with a woman that he is clearly in love with. He goes on to say, Here I stand head in hand / Turn my face to the wall we can see hat Lennon feels completely hopeless and alone as he tries to understand how he ended up in this dreadful situation. As he begins to think over the situation he realizes that it will be impossible to go one with life if the woman he loves isn t by his side. Then, the song shifts to the chorus which shows the peoples response and advice toward Lennon and his heartbreak. The advice is sung loudly and it seems like a crowd of people are giving John Lennon advice. The people suggests the following, Hey you ve got to hide your love away this shows that the people don t want Lennon to show his emotions and heartbreak. • 8. The Fischer Esterification Of An Unknown Acid Fischer Esterification 5. Introduction In this experiment, the Fischer Esterification of an unknown acid and an unknown alcohol was used to prepare an unknown ester. Sulfuric acid was used as a catalyst in the reaction which then was put under reflux. After cooling, the pH of the solution was raised to approximately 8 using sodium carbonate. Diethyl ether was added, then the aqueous layer was removed and the organic layer was washed with sodium chloride. The aqueous layer was removed again and sodium sulfate was added. The unknown product was then identified using gas chromatography (GC) to obtain the retention time. 6. Data and Results The GC data for the product produced graph with a signal level out of range in peak. This gave a retention time 2.952 minutes. This would not indicate any of the possible ester products. However, after appropriate dilution, a retention time of 1.753 minutes was obtained. This retention time indicates that the ester product was ethyl benzoate. 7. Discussion and Conclusion Hydrogens, alkyls, or aryls bonded to carboxyl groups made up of a carbonyl group and a hydroxyl group are known as carboxylic acids. Derivatives of carboxylic acids include acid chlorides, esters, anhydrides, amides, and generally nitriles. These derivatives are formed by the replacement of the hydroxyl group with a different electronegative heteroatom substituent, which can be a single atom, such as a chlorine atom, or a group of atoms, such as in the formation of ... • 9. Concentration Of MIBK, Ethanol And Water In The Feed And... In this experiment the concentrations of MIBK, ethanol and water in the Feed, Extract and Raffinate streams were determined at Steady State, which would then be used with the equilibrium data provided to calculate the theoretical number of stages required for separation. Once Steady State was achieved, the components water, ethanoland MIBK reached consistent mole percent (mol%) values of 85.48 %, 13.15 % and 1.37 % respectively for the Extract Stream. Conversely, the Raffinate Stream was had water, ethanol and MIBK mol% values of 12.84 %, 4.75 % and 82.41 % respectively. As per the sample calculations in Appendix C, the Karr Reciprocating Plate Column effectively extracted 90.24 % of the ethanol from the Feed stream into the Extract stream. As was expected, the agitation aided in the separation process considering more surface area was made available for interface interaction with smaller droplets. Calculation of the number of equilibrium stages required, had to be done using a Ternary Diagram (Figure 4). Equilibrium data was provided that could be plotted (Table A3); however, an average of the component mol% for the Raffinate, Extract Feed and Solvent streams had to be determined. This required the conversion the experimental data of the normalized volume percent (vol%) in Table A1 into mol% values, so the data points could be plotted on the Ternary Triangular Diagram. Conversion from vol% to mol% was done by through consideration of the components respective density and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Rule of the Major Generals The Major General rule was an idea by Cromwell to help reduce the threat of royalist conspiracy and to help further his need for healing and settling . However, the rule lasted less than a year due its unpopularity and lack of support from the local gentry. In addition, the Major Generals themselves were either inconsistent in their application of the aims or were negligent in their duties. Furthermore, the unrealistic aims of the rule set them up for failure before the rule had even begun, historian Farr comments on the limits of the generals power and the fact that it s no wonder the rule failed as the scope of the tasks were impossible to fulfil. Whilst all of these factors play a part in the failure of the Major Generals rule, the most significant is its negligence by the Major Generals themselves. Its unpopularity and unrealistic aims could have been overcome if every generals was both optimistic about their role and fully committed to the cause. The lack of responsibility of the Major Generals led to the public not thinking they could support the rule, and rather than help the rule, cause its demise. Farr further suggests that it was its practical failure, rather than alleged unpopularity which led to the rule failing. However, Sharp explains that the establishment of the Major Generals did more to alienate the gentry than any other move and in terms on of healing and settling , it was a disaster. • 14. Eyewitness Testimony Of The Human Eye In eyewitness testimony the human eye can distort or change what it sees. There are many intricate parts of the eye that contribute to people s daily vision. Not everyone has the same form and order of cells in their eyes. The rod cells are located on the perimeter of the retina. While the cone cells are compacted together in the middle of the retina. Both of these cell types are clustered together but, are not placed evenly throughout the eye. When the form of the cells create central vision the vision is clear. The other form of the eye is peripheral vision which has less clear vision. When someone looks around the eye can take a quick glance at an object and see many things, yet so much is going on in the eye to produce this image. The eyes take in everything they see to create a smooth movement. This makes the brainlook at it as a motion picture. The eyes see three dimensional to notice every side of an object. This can result in two different types of vision. Binocular vision which is where sight is produced from both eyes. The other type is Stereoscopic vision where both eyes collect different angles of an image and gives it depth. • 16. The Islamic Civilization And Islam One cannot have an adequate and well versed discussion about Islamic civilization without first defining two key terms: Civilization and Islam. Associate Professor at Washington University in St. Louis, Ahmet Karamustafa, defines civilizations as, nothing more than a particular, even unique combination of ideas and practice that groups of human actors who are the real agents of human history affirm as their own and use to define and develop their own sense of presence and agency in the world (Karamustafa 103). Thus, guided by this definition, we have an understanding of Islamic Civilization as a religious movement guided by the mandates of God. Of course, anywhere where there is human organization and interaction, there will be politics involved. Although there were some political aspects in the community of the Believers under the leadership of the prophet, at the core of this movement was the belief in his prophetic authority. I will argue that Islam, despite all the political implications it has had throughout history, is ultimately rooted in religious belief, submission to God, and living a pious life in accordance with God s commands for achieving eternal salvation. Furthermore, In the course of this paper, I will give a brief introduction of Islamic civilization broken up into four parts that are integral to understanding Islamic civilization: Politics and religion in the early community of the believers, governance after the death of the prophet, ... Convenience has always driven innovation, so it s not an unrealistic assumption to expect a more convenient life in the future. It s not all sunshine and rainbows though, as convenience means work transferred to machines, which means less work for people. Jenkins argues that this is an impossibility, and that as new technology is developed old technology must adapt. While we may never quite reach Jenkin s black box we can come close, as demonstrated by the very example he uses. A smartphone may be replaced by a device even more useful someday, but in the present exists as an invaluable communication device. • 21. Cause And Effect Of Tsunami How is a tsunami caused? There are different ways of how a tsunami is caused. A tsunami is a series of waves created by an abrupt movement on the ocean floor that can result from an earthquake, meteorite or a volcanic eruption. However, powerful undersea earthquakes are responsible for most tsunamis. For example, on the 11th of March 2011 a devastating tsunami occurred on the east coast of Japan, which was caused by an earthquake at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. The magnitude of the earthquake which caused the Japanese tsunami was recorded as 9.1 on the richer scale. This was very similar to the tsunami that occurred on the 26th of December in the Indian Ocean, which had a huge impact on many countries such as India, Thailand and Indonesia. The magnitude of the earthquake that occurred in the Indian Ocean was also 9.1 on the richer scale. Where the disasters most commonly occur Tsunamis can occur anywhere in the world where land meets the ocean. Two of the most recent large scale tsunamis in modern history was in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean which mainly effected India and Japan respectively. Tsunamis potentially threaten every coastal area and river system in the world. However, they are most likely to occur on shores directly facing a large body of water where an undersea earthquake may occur. Today, many Americans are generating unlimited wealth and living exceptional lives, while others are struggling to make ends meet. • 27. The Development Of Absolutism During The Nineteenth... In the course of the seventeenth century, there were many political and religious conflicts within Europe. These struggles affected countless nations across the continent, but almost none were as troubled as France due to the years of religious wars fought out within their territories, which caused widespread chaos in their lands. Both, the upper and lower class citizens were exhausted by these conflicts and were supportive of a new style of government. In attempt to maintain the integrity and stability of their country, French kings started to gradually adopt the political ideal of absolutism to maintain total control over their nation. The final goal of this ideal was to achieve the good of the state and a higher level of national existence. The development of absolutism in France can be thoroughly analyzed both in theory and in practice by looking at three kings and their cardinal advisors who consecutively ruled France leading up too, and in the seventeenth century. This development of absolutism can be firstly seen through Henry the fourth, followed by Louis the thirteenth and most prominently in Louis the fourteenth. In the last quarter of the sixteenth century, France was in the middle of its wars of religion, otherwise known as the Huguenot Wars. These wars were fought between the reformed Protestants and Catholics which lead to the death of approximately three million people. Current Trends On The Construction Industry Current Trends in the Construction Industry Beginning a new year of the construction industry with a report of 6% growth (achieved approximately $712 billion) in the financial profit of construction from Dodge Data Analytics 2016 Construction Outlook, many analysts and experts predict that potential values for the construction business will be progressively increased with extensions of modern technologies and state of the art concepts for improving construction performance, especially in project cost and schedule achievements (Peiffer, 2016). Although it is noticeable that diverse tendencies, including prefabrication or offsite constructions, green buildings, remodeling, etc., are taking higher place in the next decades, true collaborations, sophisticated building modeling tools, and practical value boosted procedures are always bottom lines for a blossoming construction project. It is unquestionable that construction project costs and schedule are spectacularly difficult to predict by reason of complexity of building procedures and presence of thousands of dependent variables throughout a project. As a result, duties and responsibilities of forecasting and envisioning project cost and schedule performance are considered as momentous challenges and complicated issues for all construction experts and professionals (Ai et al., 2015). Lust is harmful to the body, mind and spirit, and it can easily be mistaken for love, as we can see in the book of 2Samuel 13:1 4, with Amnon, son of King David, erroneously getting involved with his own sister, Tamar. Lust has the opposite effect of love. Love is spiritual while lust is Carnal; and the Holy Biblesays that God is love. What really is lust and how do I differentiate lust from love? When Amnon said I am in love with my sister Tamar was the bible telling us the obvious or what Amnon assume he had for her? Gone With The Wind Analysis Gone with the Wind opens with beautiful shots of the Georgian countryside, accompanied by sweeping romantic music and the sentiment rolling down the screen: There was a land of Cavaliers and Cotton Fields called the Old South. Here in this pretty world, Gallantry took its last bow. Here was the last ever to be seen of Knights and their Ladies Fair, of Master and of Slave. Look for it only in books, for it is no more than a dream remembered, a Civilization gone with the wind (Selznick) The film explicitly describes its objectives before the audience even sees the famous Scarlett O Hara. Nostalgia for this old Southern way of life is palpable throughout the entirety of the film and we see an alternate world portraying benevolent white slaveholders, their complacent, jolly slaves, and the noble Cause of the confederacy they tirelessly fought for. However, when viewed in the modern context, this illusion of the South is easily broken and the historical inaccuracies become evident underneath the appearance of Southern romanticism. Though Gone with the Wind romanticizes slaveryand the Old South and glosses over racial issues, it represents an important part of American history in its portrayal of white southern attitudes during the civil war. Comparative politics is the empirical comparative study of political systems. It involves the classification and comparison of institutions a rule that has been institutionalised (Lane and Ersson, 1999: 23) in order to determine the nature of political regimes. The study of comparative politics has come to be guided by three major research schools: rational choice theory, culturalist analysis and structuralist approaches; each of which spearhead a distinctive notion over what about institutions affects the nature of the political process. Rationalists are methodological individualists who assert that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cultural theorists therefore focus their studies on group level processes (ibid) when conducting research. However, as highlighted by survey researchers Almond and Verba, by identifying cultural variables, it is almost inevitable that analysts will engage in generalised comparative study. Synthesis can be found between cultural analysis and less rigid forms of structural institutionalism. Political theorist Antonio Gramsci pointed out that coherence between these two schools of thought can be found when considering the fact that whilst, according to Marxist teachings, capitalist societies are based on underlying structural conflict between the proletariat and the bourgeoisie, the manifestation of such conflict is dependent on the cultural circumstances of the country concerned. Similarly to culturalists, structuralists adopt a form of methodological holism. Structuralists task themselves with identifying the underlying dynamics that govern social systems as a whole, and upon doing so are able to embark on comparison between larger groups of countries governed by similar systems; they are unconcerned by the micro details of the political process (Bara and Pennington, 1997: 26). It is therefore said that a structuralist approach appertains to the relationships both static and dynamic among individuals, collectivities, institutions, or organisations (Lichbach, 1997: 247). Or imagine there is a medicine that causes a person to be much less aware of pain, both theirs and others. The pain experienced with a broken bone, or with healing from psychological hurts would no longer be present. I will be arguing that such a machine or such a medicine would diminish the fullness of life that can be acquired through reality and the experience of pain. I will argue this by looking into fate and how living one s life in a machine would take away a person s purpose, by looking into the importance of vulnerability and genuineness in relationships, and lastly by looking into the purpose of pain and why pain is a necessary part of human existence. The machine that allows for experiences of all sorts is called the Experience Machine, and it is an idea that Robert Nozick created for his book Anarchy (1974). The machine definition that we will be looking at is a machine where the person who is in the machine is in the machine for the rest of their life, the person does not know that they are within the machine while they are inside of it, and lastly only one person can be in the machine by themselves, but they can experience other people while they are in there (the people that they experience in the machine are just copies of the person ... Faye, Olive, and Cathy are all women that have taken to extremes in their acts of kindness or evil. Faye is too good of a person, especially in the society that she is in. Olive helps an enormous amount in the military with work she has done that seemed unlikely for her to do by herself. • 52. The Art of War for Managers The Art of War for Managers While The Art of War was written by Sun Tzu during the 6th century B.C., long before the colonization of the Americas, the onslaught of the Crusades, and before the Persian Wars of around 490 B.C., it remains relevant to this day. There is also strong evidence that the work inspired Napoleon and was used in the planning of Operation Desert Storm. The Art of Warhas withstood the sands of time due to its simplistic approach, and its applicability to non military strategies. The Art of War , interpreted by Gerald, A. Michaelson, as well as other authors, use Sun Tzu s timeless strategies and apply them to the modern day corporate world. The themes in The Art of War seem to run parallel to those in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the business world, if too much time is taken, the chance of error contributing to failure becomes greater. Sun Tzu says this: If the war is long delayed, the men s weapons will be blunted and their ardor will be dampened. If too much time and energy is wasted, there will be less efficiency. The faster you do things, the better off you are. If you manage your time well, you will always be one step ahead of your opponent. You will have the luxury of looking back at them while they struggle to get to the point you are already at. Also, if you arrive at a position early, you will use less resources holding the position than others will use trying to reach that position. The defense of a position is always easier than that of taking a position away from the current leader. The longer it takes you to start, the more you will require. It s as simple as that. Another interpreted quote of Sun Tzu is this: A victorious army wins its victories before seeking battle; an army destined for defeat fights in the hope of winning . This can be applied directly to the business world. As I suggested earlier, entrance into a market with low or no competition maximizes the rate of success. If there is nobody to compete against in the beginning, you have already won. It is then the responsibility of new companies in the market to work their way up to where you are. Winning the battle before it has started ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many veterans have died serving this great nation they call their home; any son would be proud to call that man his father. They showed a great amount of patriotism and heroism to take a bullet for the red, white, and blue. If teens were forced to join a service program it would teach them to: never take their eyes off of the flag during the National Anthem, respect their president, and never lose faith in what they think is right. I once knew this old verteran, he lived down the street from me and sat on his porch every day, looking onto his yard, at the flowers. I visited him every Tuesday, after I was chasing my brother down the street and he tought me how to catch him even faster. We talked for 45 minutes each time, and the whole time he talked about his time in the service, his tactics, and his love for his country. He said that even now in his old age he would take twice as many bullets for this country then when he was enrolled. Teens can experience this love as well if they create this civil service ... The group now has over 400 stores and is continuing to grow. Therefore I feel like both websites would be good to evaluate and in return get ideas of ways to make my website a success when creating it. I will start off by evaluating my first company website which is DW Sports. Firstly I am going to talk about the colour scheme DW Sports have used. The overall colour scheme of the website is red, white and black and these are the colours which are present within the company logo. I personally feel like this was intentional to make their website and their products easily identifiable as their own. I feel like the black background was a good idea as the red compliments it and the writing is white and quite large therefore it stands out and it is clear to read. The overall layout of the whole website I feel is simple while professional looking. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These legislatures were derived from the King of England George III. He soon became the most disliked man in American homes. The Revolution War brought the people together in a patriotic manner. Soon, a document that would change the lives of many was constituted for the citizens of America. The Declaration of Independence was then formed and granted all men freedom and equality. Freedom was finally rewarded to Americans, but how they manipulate, it was up to them. Was freedom and equality guaranteed for all men and women? Studying history we see that it does differ and in the Declaration it states, all men are created equal. ; This gets interpreted as all white men are created equal. In having such frame of mind, civilians began disputing. Not for the equal rights primarily, but for the unlawful slavery that was occurring. This time in history many laws and acts were distributed but often ignored such as the Fugitive Slave Acts 1850 and the Wilmont Proviso of 1846.
