Geography Of Canada Essay
Geography
The geography of Canada describes the geographic features of Canada, the world #39;s
second largest country in total area.
Situated in northern North America (constituting 41% of the continent #39;s area), Canada
spans a vast, diverse territory between the North Pacific Ocean to the west and
the North Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Arctic Ocean to the north (hence the
country #39;s motto quot; From sea to sea quot;), with the United States to the south (contiguous
United States) and northwest (Alaska). Greenland is to the northeast; off the southern
coast of Newfoundland lies Saint Pierre and Miquelon, an overseas collectivity of
France. Since 1925, Canada has claimed the portion of the Arctic between 60В°W and
141В°W longitude to the North Pole; however, this claim is contested. [1] While ... Show more

A Narrative Essay On Octavian
Percy was bored, like real bored, and he swears, he will go crazy if he couldn t do anything else
other than being bored for the whole day. Yup, he ll go insane, like Dionysus level of insanity,
and that s saying something! Actually, let s go with Octavian, because Octavian is just a whole
new level of insanity, ugliness, idiocy and some other big words that you can find in the
dictionary. Piper and Jason were out on a date night, Frank was busy trying to turn into a panda to

Radiation Exposure Among Health Care Workers
Radiation Exposure among Health Care Workers
Introduction
Radiation is actuality of life and in terms of defining; it is the emission (sending out) of energy
from any source. We live in a world in which radiation is unsurprisingly present everywhere and
has been since the creation of this planet. Light and heat from nuclear reaction in sun are crucial to
our survival. Radioactive materials occur naturally all through the environment and our bodies
contain radioactive materials for example carbon 14, and potassium 40 naturally (Knoll, 1989). All
life on Earth has evolved in the presence of this radiation. One can categorize radiation according to
the effects it produces on matter, into non ionizing and ionizing radiation. Non ionizing ... Show

radiation exposure to the world population. http://www.who.int/ionizing_radiation/env/en/
Radiation is one cause, along with hundreds that result in cancer. Radiation is invisible to the
naked eye, making it more difficult for our senses to detect. The fundamental background of
cosmic rays, gamma rays, and natural radioactivity within the body gives rise to an annual dose
of about 1 mSv or more to an average person in the world. It is simple, in some situations, to
control non natural sources of radiation for the reason that we can adjust or eliminate the
procedure producing the radiation, however there is always a balance to be made. It is vital, for
example, to be aware of the doses from medical x ray examinations, but it would not be smart to
lessen the doses where it would result to a loss of vital diagnostic information that could not have
been found with radiation. This is all part of the cost and benefits of using radiation.
Radiation affects people by depositing energy in body tissue, which can cause cell damage or cell
death. In several cases there may be no obvious effect. In other cases, the cell might survive but
grow to be abnormal, either temporarily or permanently. Furthermore, an abnormal cell could
become malignant. Both large and small doses of

Midterm Reflection
From the beginning of the semester until now, I believe I have made progress with the goals I
considered for the midterm exam. Those goals were staying turned out, fully extending the
working leg to the back, and carrying the working leg en l air at the same height. In addition to
these three aspects, new challenges were discovered over the current ones. The new challenges
have allowed myself to set new goals for the upcoming semester of Spring 2018. During the
midterm conference, Dr. Sims provided me a few exercises I could work on outside of class to
improve my turnout. The exercise I have really worked on is with a theraband. This exercise
consists of tieing the theraband around the thigharea tight enough to allow resistance and begin to
externally rotate the legs. This exercise targets turning out from the hips as I was turning out from
the knee, which could be another cause of my knee pain.
Not only is working with a theraband working, but continuing to think about sending energy out
from the tip of my hip of the working leg into my big toe. With this idea in my head, it allows me
to fully lengthen the working leg and not let the knee drop or turn parallel to the floor. For
example, while in arabesque or working to the back, I have had a bad habit of letting the
working leg go into flexion. Not only in this area, but as well as rhon de jambes. In this particular
exercise, I would bend the working leg as it passed through first position. Now that I have this

Nancy Newhall s This Is The American Earth
Portraying the sublime evolved as industrialization speed up manufacturing. Adams aimed for a
wider audience, as he believed only when the public sees the beauty of the wilderness would they
understand why conservation mattered. Adams understood the photographer could play a vital role,
rousing awareness and inciting action. He saw this as his personal mission (Spaulding, 1995, pp.
217 218). This was evident in Adams iconic partnership with Nancy Newhall and in their book, This
Is the American Earth published in 1960. Theirs was the quintessential book, bringing conservation
philosophy and naturephotographyto coffee tables across the nation (Spaulding, 1995, p. 310).

In 1963, Porter shared his trip down the Colorado River to capture what would be lost if
technological hubris prevailed. The Place No One Knew portrayed fragments of the canyon rather
than broad sweeping scenic landscapes. Many criticized the book for too many close up and
abstract images that contrasted light and dark features of the canyon even though it did convey the
hidden beauty of the canyon. Although costly, $25, The Place No One Knew was a large format
book with color images and elegant craftsmanship of typographer and lithographer. One reviewer
commented, the book needed to be so large and to contain such high quality prints and exquisite
typography. By buying the book, particularly given its expensive price, Americans could gain
atonement; through consumption, they could help pay for the sins of the nation (Dunaway, 2005,
p. 181). Critics claimed Porter s photos demonstrated a duality between portraying the aesthetics of
nature with scientific understanding for what is at stake. The Sierra Club continued work to protect
the Colorado River along with advocating protection for other natural resources. They published

Kathleen Parker s Article, First Three Years Aren t That Critical
Did your mother read to you when you were six weeks old? Did she teach you how to do math
problems when you were two? Recently, I read an issue of Parenting Magazine and found an article
on child development. Kathleen Parker s article, First Three Years Aren t That Critical tells us that
parents today are putting to much emphasis on what the media and medical journals are saying,
instead of using common sense. The article emphasizes that parents are going overboard on these
new studies using good argumentative techniques. Although I found not all of what she said was
accurate, I still felt she got her point across. Parker uses evidence from scientists and medical ...

By acknowledging the other viewpoint, the author can still present her argument and not offend the
reader so much that they would quickly side against her. Using these techniques, the author
effectively attracts the readers attention and explains the main point of the rest of the article.
I noticed that in this article, Parker challenges the media s representation on the effectiveness of
early childhood development by stating that you should not change how you raise your child
based on trivial news articles. Parker lists sources: Newsweek, the Clintons, and books about
early development, as causes for parents to go overboard on developing their young children. The
point that Parker is trying to get across is that these articles are not reasons for society to change
their parental habits. The author is saying that the news articles can not prove one way or the other
that teaching your child early in life gives them the advantage. Just because an article says that in
some cases child development is effective, it doesn t mean that it is true or appropriate to change
the way you are teaching your two year old. Parker s technique is to debunk the idea of these
sources, and to get the reader to believe in her side.To further her persuasive article, the author
wanted to show that the media can not prove one way or the other that teaching your child early
will affect how smart they become in life. Parker mentions that Thomas Jefferson s

Dr. David Burns s The Feeling Good Handbook
Is your thought life making you ill? Mental health experts argee that it can. In fact, some ideas can
ruin you life.
Psychiatrist and educator, Dr. Aaron Temkin Beck (the father of Cognitive Emotive Therapy), first
proposed that false ideas could actually damage mental health. Dr. David Burns popularized this
notion in his book, The Feeling Good Handbook: Techniques and Exercises to Help Cope with
Depression without Drugs, a classic work in the field of mental health.
Though developed by Temkin in the 1960s, Cognitive Emotive Therapyhas only grown in influence
within the mental health field during the past half century. Its therapies have become common tools
in the clinical treatment of depression and have been used by clinicians to address criminal behavior.
The first article in this issue of Watchmen, Assumption Busting, explores how faulty assumptions
can make our problem solving ineffective. Cognitive Emotive Therapy makes a broader claim.
Mistaken ideas can actually ruin our lives and health with bad decisions. Put another way, faulty (or
irrational) thinking makes us ill, but rational thinking restores our mental health and social balance.
According to Cognitive Therapy, our reasoningcan fall into typical irrational traps. These traps are
automatic ways in which we have trained ourselves to misinterpret our experience. As a result, we
base our actions on faulty ideas that lead to bad choices.
The thinking traps listed below are among those Dr.

Francois Marie de Voltaire was born in Paris to a wealthy family in 1694. He lived during the
time of the enlightenment, which was a period of new thinking using critical reason to free minds
from prejudice and unexamined authority. Later on in his life, Voltaire was a prisoner in the
Bastille and then exiled to England because of a duel with Chevalier de Rohan, an Aristocrat who
found Voltaire s name insulting. Throughout his life he has written both plays and books such as
Zaire, Treatise on Tolerance and Dictionnaire Philosophique (Gray, 13).
Voltaire believes that Law is a rational guide in an irrational world. This means that the purpose
of laws is to give the citizens a certain duty that must be fulfilled in order for society to function
properly. If this is to successfully work through laws then everything else should run by laws
including the Crown and Church that have very important duties. The entire state should be run
on duties that everyone must fairly fulfill. Therefore the state exists for the citizen (Gray, 45).
The duties are created to make things safer for the citizens. It is the obligation of the state to
create these proper laws and give them to the people for their own good. The state is to provide
for the citizen and not the other way around. This is why Voltaire says, The character of liberty lies

The Four Levels Of Stylistic Analysis
3.Four levels of stylistic analysis
There are four levels of stylistics analysis through which we will analyze the poem such as:

Taxing The Wealthy Is Unfair
Taxes are a compulsory contribution to the state revenue, levied by the government on workers
income and business profits or added to the cost of goods, services and transactions. In the United
States, nearly everyone is taxed, and it is the taxpayer s duty to report all income to the IRS. The
IRS is the International Revenue Service of the United States federal government; it is responsible

Rosa Parks And The Montgomery Bus Boycott
Introduction
Rosa Parks wouldn t move from her seat, would you move because of the color of your skin? In
Montgomery Alabama in 1955 a bus boycott took place. The black community of Montgomery
decided not to ride the bus for about 381 days. In the end the busses lost to much money because
the majority of the people on the bus were colored so they gave in. In this essay I will discuss Rosa

boycott in Montgomery Alabama.
The spark of the boycott
Before the boycott began many blacks were arrested and fined. Rosa Parks refused to move
from her seat in the colored section for a white man. Rosa was part of a group trying to stop
segregation in a peaceful manner. They needed some one to stand up for the cause but Rosa never
thought it would be here. Rosa was arrested and fined 10 dollars just because she didn t move.

Describe The Benefits Of The Gold Standard
Between 1870 and 1900, most developed countries throughout the world used the gold standard.
Countries used the gold standard mainly because of Britain s steadfast of gold and that they had
the most commercial and financial significance at the time (Meissner, 2005). The gold standard
also allowed for an easier, more stable, secure way to trade with one another. Countries who
adopted the Gold Standard saw greater symmetry, and lower costs of trade (Alesina and Barro,
2002). The Gold Standard was like a Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval , which was a system
of adherence between countries to have cheaper trading. The more a country adhered to the gold
standard, the less they were charged during trade. Countries, who did not adhere or only
moderately adhered, were charged a considerably higher rate during trade at this time (Bordo,
1995). This fostered an environment of a desire to adhere and participate in having your countries
currency backed by gold. However, there were times when the Gold Standard was not adhered to
at all. These exceptions to the gold standard were allowed only during times of war, a financial
crisis or shocks to terms of trade. The Unites States, Britain and France were the benefits of this
exception, saving them financially during World War I and various financial panics they had
domestically (Bordo, 1995). Furthermore, the gold standard was predominately beneficial by
linking together fixed exchange rates between countries and circumventing

The current process takes too many hours to complete the required tasks, so the new updated
system must be fast and efficient. All of Riordan Enterprise s locations will move to the new
accounting and inventory system; therefore, it must also comply with the existing technology.
Companies are recognizing that not only is the aftermarket profitable, but it also can drive
significant competitive advantage as a customer service differentiator (Kevin O Brian 2005)
An initial evaluation of accounting and inventory systems for all the Riordan Enterprise locations
is required. We need to know what software is currently in use and how effective it is. If our
evaluation determines that, the existing software is not performing all of the needed requirements
it will be necessary to upgrade them as well. Next, we will need to evaluate their existing hardware
to determine its integrity. If the hardware is also outdated, another evaluation will be necessary to
determine what will replace it. If the evaluation of the hardware determines that the existing
equipment is adequate, then we can proceed with the software upgrade. The request specifically
asks for a complete system that is faster and interrelated into all of the locations. After the

What Are The Causes Of The Battle Of Isandlwana
After the British arrived at the Cape, their influence and power spread to all areas of southern
Africa. This colonisation was met with conflict and resistance, involving many indigenous groups,
and led to tense skirmishes with the Zulu Nation. This struggle between the Zulus and the English
led to the Battle of Isandlwana, one of the most famous British defeats in history. The causes
involved demands for labour and land, however there was an ulterior motive as to why Zululand
was invaded.
Regarding Anglo Zulu relations, the British felt that the Zulu Nation posed a great military threat
against the White Natal Colony and the Transvaal. The British sought to set up a Federation of
White colonies and states in South Africa in 1879 , however they felt vulnerable due to the fear
caused by the very near Zulu menace (Source D). This specific fear of the Zulu nation was
dominant because at the time Cetshwayo had transformed the Zulus into a stronger and mightier
power, and therefore was more of a threat towards the British. This fear of the Zulus potentially
overthrowing the white government spread to other regions of South Africa, where the settlers
hoped that the white government would stay in power. So the British felt it necessary to cause
conflict with the Zulus in 1879 over the control of Zululand, and to the ... Show more content on

The Age Of Exploration And Its Effects On Economic And...
Summative
As European economy grew, and became more reliant on a cash system, replacing the land based
system of feudalism. The power shift is prominent, shifting from the lords and nobles to the
merchants of the middle class. The Age of Exploration has provided a framework for economic life
around the world for several centuries while also shaping politics, social relations, cultures, and
natural environments, changing the very nature of society. Of course the most important aspect of
this modernistic convention would most certainly be the newfound relation between, capitalism and
globalization and their effects on economic and political power. However some countries succeeded
in their endeavour of international trade, while others did not. Europeans constructed and
maintained their trade and territorial empires, whether through conquest, centralizing authority,
religious conversion, commercial monopolies, or through conflict with other Europeans. Economics
seems to be the most significant factor in the production line of human progress. There has been no
event in history that did not involve an aspect of economy. The basis of commerce in the Age of
Exploration, led to growth of international trade that would eventually lead to the Industrial
revolution. This foundation is heavily reliant on European powers enforcing economic trade around
merchant capitalism and the existing monarchy monopolism ideologies.Trade within Europe would
continue to facilitate economic growth

The Effects Of Retrograde Amnesia On Memory
Cognitive Psychology helps us try to understand the human thought process and how we acquire,
process, and store information (www.careerinpsychology.org). Amnesia is just one of many aspects
that happens in the brain, and it hinders our memory. According to Solso, Otto and Kimberly,
amnesia is forgetting caused by problems in the brain. In chapter seven, we talked about two types
of Amnesias, and how they affect memory. Retrograde and Anterograde amnesiaaffect your

retrograde amnesia is the memory loss for events prior to the brain injury (Solso, Otto, Kimberly,

The Epidemic Of Influenza And Influenza
People are dying every second to a variety of reasons, some that could be prevented others where
that is not the case. However, experts agree that influenza and influenza related deaths could be
significantly prevented if people took the influenza vaccine annually. The influenza virus is a
deadly virus that has been killing people since the 1900s; in 1918 the first recorded epidemic of a
strain of influenzaknown as the Spanish flu killed approximately 50 million people ( Pandemic
Flu History ). Because people did not know what the virus was or how to fight against it, it spread
very fast. However, after the vaccinewas made, later epidemics such as the 1957, 1968, and 2009
epidemics were not as fatal, killing approximately one million people worldwide. Vaccines
played a large role in human history in fighting and preventing diseases from annihilating human
beings. This paper will discuss the economic aspects of whether it should be mandatory for
hospital health care workers to take the flu vaccine. Paula Sullivan, a seasoned nurse practitioner,
discusses how influenza is an infectious disease that takes place in temperate regions around the
world which results in approximately the death of 500,000 people annually worldwide; 226,000
people get hospitalized and 36,000 die from influenza annually in the United States alone
(Sullivan). Most of the people who die from the influenza virus are aged 65 years or older and that
is usually because other diseases are

The Importance Of Technology In Feed
In the futuristic world M.T Anderson creates in Feed, the misuse of technology is a problem the
world faces. The novel Feed describes how the world could be in the future if humans let
technology rule their lives. Anderson wants the reader to realize the effect technology has on our
lives, and he also wants us to understand how we are being controlled and manipulated by media.
Therefore, Anderson, fearing that one day technology will surpass humanity by creating a society
of idiots like in the novel Feed, warns the reader from the futureour society might face if we don t
make a change soon.
The novel describes scenarios of the world where we live. For example: people are becoming less
intelligent because technology is dominating the human race. Moreover, One major theme is how
technology, including media and advertising, ruins the future. Since the feed is in the teenagers
head, they live and die by the feed. Everything they want is
Instantaneous. They no longer have a reason to think as individuals and increase there
Intelligence. Instead, they are content with having technology do everything for them.
They cannot even read or write because everything they need is done by the feed. In
School, teenagers learn about the feed, how to find the best bargains, how to get a job and how to
decorate their rooms. Regular subjects such as literature and math are not in School. The constant
advertisements running through their heads also ruin the future of the human race.

Political Criticism Of Bartleby The Scrivener
Herman Melville s remarkable short story Bartleby The Scrivener: A Story Of Wall street tells a
profound tale of a lawyer, his regret, and the silent hero he meets in Wall Street. The Lawyer
narrates his past experience with a unique, one of a kind scrivener that used to work at his firm. The
Story starts with the narrator explaining that he has known many men, and has met many scriveners
during his lifetime, but none like Bartleby.
He says, But I waive the biographies of all other scriveners for a few passages in the life of
Bartleby, who was a scrivener of the strangest I ever saw or heard of. (Pg.1.) Bartleby was unlike
any other scrivener, or any man that the lawyer has ever met. He goes on to explain how

He went against the norm of his workplace, Wall Street, something that seems inexplicable to
take place in a story that is set in the hustle and bustle of Wall Street. He rebelled against a job
that many would not dare to rebel against. Nonetheless, Bartleby s weakness arises from those
around him who are unable to understand the impression he gives. At first, Bartleby s motive for
his rebellion seems hazy throughout the story. After reading the story once, I found myself lost,
and not having understood most of it. However, going through it once more, and breaking it down
helped me slowly realize that Bartleby s rebellion seems to be a political statement, a cry for help
to a world that is engulfed by capitalism.
Bartleby s true strength appears during the retelling of his story by the narrator. The fact the
narrator has been affected by Bartleby s bold rejection, and is greatly preoccupied by the reasoning
of his actions, or in Bartleby s case lack of actions, highlights how strong Bartleby s impression
truly was. Through his idleness, Bartleby protested against corruptive capitalism and materialism,
essentially all that Wall Street

Embryo Care Ethics
In addition, there is a general difference between embryos in laboratory and embryos in the womb.
The embryo in the womb has a definite chance of developing into a child unless a deliberate
human act interrupts its growth, an embryo in the laboratory can only develop into a child if there
is a deliberate humanact (Singer and Dawson, 1988). To appear in a logical thinking, if there is a
fire accident in the hospital laboratory and the fireman has to decide whether to save a newborn
baby or embryos in Petri dishes, which one should he save? Technically, everyone would opt to

Happiness is Different for Each Person
Happiness
Simple things like a sight of an ice cream, the feel of your soft pillows, and the taste of
marshmallows can make a person happy but people often desire more things that they can t
easily acquire. They desire love, all the money in the world or maybe winning a nobel prize.
Some people just maybe want to have a good job, and a good family. Individuals will go through
all sorts of things just to get what they want. Without knowing, some people sacrifices something in
order to achieve the happiness they sought for. The short film, Dr. Horrible s Sing Along Blog

Examples Of Metaphysical Poetry
The term Metaphysical Poet was first used by John Dryden and later coined by Samuel Johnson in
the 20th century. The term was used for the poets of the 17th century, it was a period of intense
ferment in all areas of life religion, science, politics, domestic relations, culture. Metaphysical
literally means to transcend above or beyond the physical world in order to gain perspective. The
term permanently got associated to poets like John Donne, Andrew Marvel, Henry Vaughan,
Richard Crashaw, and George Herbert. Their writings were a deliberate reaction against the 16th
century verses which were smooth and had a sweet tone. The Metaphysical Poets, therefore,
adopted an uneven, rigorous and energetic tone and were concerned with man s experience;... Show

They used very vivid imagery in the poems, besides being richly sensuous. For example in The
Bermudas the poet uses the images of the bright oranges that shine in the shade of trees like
golden lamps in a green night . The pomegranates are described richer than the jewels. The
islands are imagined as riding the ocean s bosom . The listening winds receive the song being
sung by the pilgrims. The phrase, the watery maze is by itself admirably as conveying the idea
that the pilgrims could have been lost on the sea, not knowing the direction in which to sail. One
of the most vivid images is that of the whales which seem to carry the ocean upon their backs but
which can be destroyed by the power of God: He the huge sea monsters wracks,/ That lift the deep
upon their backs.
The imagery in The Garden is very pastoral, it could be a reference to the garden of Eden. Unlike
other metaphysical poets, Marvell derives some of it from classical reference, such as the myths
of Apollo and Pan. The speaker then presents an image of his soul detaching from his body, but
remaining in the garden. The image suggests that during the soul s time on Earth, it is possible for
it to transcend some of the physical body s limitations, as we see in the speaker s previous
contemplation of a green thought in a green

Critical Analysis Of The Abolishment Of Budgeting
Critical Analysis of the Abolishment of Budgeting
Budgeting is a main instrument of management control for most organizations systems. Recently it
is a controversial phenomenon, the disappointment with budgeting is occurring. This is because
some people find that budgeting processes is time consuming and often lead to dysfunctional
behavior. Additionally, they make organization fail to be flexible in such an uncertain financial
environment. Many people think traditional budgeting systems should be abolished, but others
wish to improve them. Hope and Fraser (2003b) provide a few European companies that have
abolished traditional budgeting systems successfully. On the other hand, Eckholm and Wallin
(2000) observed approximately 61% of firms will improve the budgeting processes and continue to
use them as control purpose. This paper argues that whether budgeting should be abolished or not
mainly focus on three aspects, fixed performance contracts , time consuming and the changes of
budgeting in real life. Evidence is presented that as a control instrument although budgeting has
some shortcomings, it should not be abolished. Instead, those shortcomings could be addressed by
some improvement measures.
Fixed performance contracts
One criticism of Hope and Fraser is that budgets use a mechanism called fixed performance
contracts. They contend that when budget related elements have changed during budgeting period, a
fixed goal may stand a poor performance evaluation criterion.

The Effects Of Depression And Its Effects On Society
Did you know, 20% of Canadians will experience a mental illness in their lifetime (Canadian
Mental Health Association, 2015), of that more than 350 million people of all ages will be
affected by depression? Depression is a mood disorder caused by an overwhelming feeling of
sadness and loss of interest. It has a negative effect on how one goes through their day to day
activities. Depression is more than just having a bad day , it is a serious mental disorder that
can harm people s lives. The causes of depression are widely ranged. The debate between if
depression comes from a nature vs nurture environment is highly looked into. Depression is
backed up and proven by scientists and researchers to come from a person s personal events, can
be caused by a person s biology, or even the abuse of substances is proven to have an impact on
the cause of depression as well. The events in a person s life can have increase ones risk of
clinical depression. These events can have an immediate effect on a person or it can develop later
in life. Going through traumatic events may change ones mental health causing them to become
depressed. This is an example of the nurture effect; the behaviour is something that happens to a
person not something they are born with. Events such as death of a family member, a divorce, or
even natural disasters are known to cause a person to become clinically depressed. Scientists
believe that events like this will increase ones risk of becoming depressed

Doctors can easily make money off of advertising drugs of certain pharmaceutical companies,
and this fact was proved by the investigating doctor. As Dr. Prasad followed developments on the

Composer Franz Schubert As A Master Composer Of Songs
Viennese composer Franz Schubert is often regarded as a master composer of songs. He is also
known for creative and unexpected movement between keys in his compositions. Dying at a
tragically young age, Schubert managed to release an enormous body of works, publishing over
two hundred songs while alive. Despite this already impressive output of songs, nothing stopped
Schubert from composing symphonies, chamber music, and solo works as well. Close analysis of
his music reveals how skillfully Schubert was able to set text, move fluidly to foreign keys, and
much more. In this paper, Schubert s vocal piece entitled Erlkönig and his work for solo piano,
Moments Musicaux 5 in F minor, will be explored more deeply The text in Erlkönig begins and
ends with a nameless narrator. He opens, setting the scene, a father rides with his sick child in the
night, racing to a nearby farmhouse to get help for his son. Schubert s repeated octave staccato
triplets suggest the hoofbeats of the important fifth character, the horse, the vehicle of hope and
deliverance; the four minutes of his song convey the urgency of a ride against an indistinct but
baleful force (Bamforth). During the ride, the son recounts his hallucination of the Erlking, the king
of the elves, chasing them to his father. The boy says the Erlking is promising the boy him, games,
even his daughters, but his father tries to calm him, sying these are only wind rustling in the leaves

The Lunar Effect Has Been A Controversy For Millions Of Years
The lunar effect has been a controversy for millions of years. In fact, no celestial object has
inspired more myth and legend than the full moon (Newton). This shows how the lunar effect has
been very controversial. Some reasons that cause the controversy of the lunar effect are the over
reliance of anecdotes instead of scientific evidence, as well as the exaggeration of the media, and
the general publics inability to define the lunar effect. All of these reasons cause the controversy of
the lunar effect to exist.
There has been many anecdotes involving the lunar effect. A huge amount of anecdotes involve
crimes that took place on the night of the full moon. For example, a dispatcher said that six years
ago on the night of the full moon, he responded to a report of a fight at a hotel saying that one of
the men looked like the comic book character of wolverine ( Alkofer,2016 ). A different
dispatcher also had a story involving a crime that took place on a night with a full moon. The
dispatcher talked about how he s been on the job for only two months, and how he had to
respond to a call about a sixty nine year old woman who was brandishing a shotgun under the
night of a full moon (Alkofer,2016). As you can see there are a lot of anecdotes that involve
people being mentally affected by the full moon, however there are even more stories that involve
animals. For instance, a woman that worked at a veterinary hospital saw four cats come in with

started. The Trojans went out and did their warm ups. As they were doing warm ups, Daryn
happened to be looking at something else when the worst possible thing could have happened....

I just got hit in the eye. He walked over to the dugout and sat down and rested for a minute. Daryn
was sitting in the dugout.
Coach came over and asked, Are you okay? What happened!? So Daryn told him the entire story.
After he was done talking, the coach ran up to the concession stand to get some ice. When he
arrived with the ice, Daryn was still sitting on the bench. Then coach started telling Daryn that he
is not gonna be able to play the second game. Daryn was always a second game player because he
wasn t as good to make first game, which is fortunate in this situation but the point is, Daryn wasn t
going to miss the game.
The most embarrassing part was the moment he had to tell his father. He hoped his dad had to
work that day because he didn t want his dad to see him like this. When his dad got to the game,
Daryn decided just to go up and tell him. His dad was concerned of what happened so that settled
Daryn down a little bit. Coach filled Daryn s dad in on the situation then sat back down in the
dugout. Fortunately, he was fine, it was just a black eye. But, he also had a chance of not being
able to play. The team needed everyone that day because the other team was pretty good. After a
while Daryn started feeling perfectly

Authority In The Muslim World
The topic of religious authority in the Muslim world has been a debate since the beginning of early
Islam. The debate of authority was centralized over who was able to elucidate the meaning of the
texts of revelation. Over time, the superiority of who had the right to interpret the religious texts
and guide the community changed from the pre modern to the modern period.
The fuqaha were elite religious scholars, or members of a wealthy family, that rose to power in
700 (Lecture, October 19). The fuqaha understood collective responsibility by the use of Fard al
kifayah, which represents a ritual obligation a Muslim community can fulfill for the whole
(Lecture, October 24). They presumed the masses, such as the peasants, would be unable to follow

Neo traditionalists base what they do on the four schools of law and gives interpretive authority
in scholars and teachers. It is different from the other trends because they still practice traditional
schools of law. However, they are not any different from pre modern views of fuqaha authority.
Warith Deen Muhammad is a neo traditional social reformer that based his views of how to
create a just Muslim society on different schools to create an American school of Islamic
thought. He also emphasized economic reform and economic empowerment. Revivalists break
from Muhammad Abduh s movement and focused on rational individual s interpretations of the
Qur an and Hadith. They also create their own systems of welfare so they are not dependent on
the state. Revivalism is different from the other trends because it focuses on the individuals and
emphasizes the ability of anybody to read the Qur an and Hadith and decide what they are
supposed to do with it. It is different from pre modern ideas of authority because it strictly relies
on the individual and not the collective. Violent Revivalism represents the groups such as ISIS
and Al Qaeda. They reject the idea of a separation of the group and society and use violence to do
so. This group is different from the others because

`` All Sex, All The Time `` By Theodore Dalrymple
Theodore Dalrymple, in the essay All Sex, All the Time reflects on the change of view of the
people about sex and how it has lead people into more confusion and conflict than before.
Dalrymple s real name being Anthony Daniels, he picked up the pseudonym of Theodore
Dalrymple for the purpose of his essays. There were times when virginity was a pride to men
and women. However, it still prevails in some countries, this custom and the people have been
changing. He states that the world is now free to enjoy sexual pleasures without any fear of the
myths and taboos that existed in history. Although people feel that they are satisfied and are free
to choose this path of life, sex has lead people into confusion, contradiction, and conflict states
Dalrymple (Dalrymple 1). Dalrymple takes the chance of stating how the world will be, in about a
hundred years. He thinks that twelve year girls would be in the streets at night, as prostitutes, where
police would be guarding them and health authorities would come by to distribute condoms to
prevent any infections. Then, the common people would be given instruments to get rid of the
condoms in their backyard and gardens. The reason behind this is that morals are dying; over the
years, people have become non judgmental. People feel that being non judgmental is staying away
from people s wishes and letting them do what they like, in their own ways. Being non judgmental,
in this case affects those young girls, the public, the environment

Jack Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies
In William Golding s best selling novel, Lord of the Flies man s inherent evil and savage nature
is revealed through Golding s strident world view, extraordinary use of literary devices, and
superb structure. Lord of the Flies was published in 1954 when it quickly became wildly popular.
The novel has had a difficult history following its immediate fame. Numerous schools, universities,
and institutions have barred the book from being taught for its use of racism, explicit content and
vivid imagery. Golding himself is an astounding reflection of the inner turmoil and harshness of his
own writing. William Golding detested the British class system and his book reflected his thoughts.
Golding wrote the novel during the second world war.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jack is the book s symbol for the theme, man s inherent savage nature. Jack himself is nothing
more than an animalistic beast that finally gets uncaged and set free at the end of the novel.
Jack finds his identity in his tribe, as his tribe s animalistic tendencies grow, so do his. Jack also
represents the boys growing love for power and destruction, as well as the love for power and
destruction that is in everyone. Ralph is the symbol for common sense and logic. Ralph is
rational and that s why he is the original leader, why he is in control. He finds his identity in his
morality and justness, which is what made him so perfect for his starting role, and his ending
role. The end of the book is chaos, something Ralph doesn t fit into. The smaller characters also
are symbols. Roger represents the desire for violence and torture, Piggy represents intellect and
maturity, and Simon represents piety. Following its publication, Lord of the Flies was barred from
being taught in many places worldwide for its excessive use of discrimination, violence, and foul
language (4). The novel was under the most duress during 1980 1990 when several school districts
around the country refused to teach the book and challenged the novel to their superiors (4). The
teachers weren t just troubled with the violence, discrimination, and foul language, but also that the
boys in the novel weren t fighting for survival, they were fighting simply to satiate the beast within
themselves

HBR Business Case Assignment
1. This case starts out in a lab that is located in a building that is operated by Crescordia.
Crescordia is a company that makes a range of products such as artificial hips and scalps but also
is one of the few companies that sell fixation devices. At the beginning of the case Crescordia holds
a seminar for orthopedic surgeons so they can better familiarize themselves with the products and
procedures that are needed when dealing with using these fixation plates. During this seminar the
CEO Peter Walsh enters excitedly to see what is going on. You can tell right from the start that he
is a very big people person and is incredibly interested in finding out the needs and what ... Show

A week later they had a meeting where Jane LaMott the vice president of sales was excited at the
prospect of putting resorbable s in their lineup of products while Chief marketer Diane Robinson
was completely of the opposite opinion and thought it would be a huge misstep to bring
resorbable s as part of their product line. Nothing was settled at this meeting. The next day Walsh
had a meeting with CFO Calvin Westbrook and asked him to weigh in on resorbable s. Calvin
Westbrook also expressed feelings of not having much faith in resorbable s and making it seem
like there was no need to rush into resorbable s. 2. There are many drivers of tensions related to
Crescordia offering resorbable s to the market. First off Crescordia is a company that is known
for the quality of products they put out and they have a reputation built on the fact that they only
offer quality products. If they put resorbable s on the market they would releasing a product that
has a failure rate and would stain their reputation. Also if they were to turn to resorbable s it
would be a huge financial undertaking because they would have to offer a wide range of
resorbable s if they wanted to compete which would wouldn t reach profitability if they didn t scale
production. One idea was that they should offer a smaller range of these products to just the

A Case Of The Causeway Bay Bookstore Essay
Five associates, including a co owner, of publisher Mighty Current and its Causeway Bay
Bookstore went missing in January 2016. Known for gossipy titles about political scandals and
other sensitive issues about the Communist Party of China, the Causeway Bay Bookstore attracts
lots of mainland Chinese tourists in Hong Kong. Therefore, when the news of the bookshop s
workers has gone missing came out, the general HK public felt shocked and appalled. Pro
democracy lawmakers in HK believe that these booksellers were kidnapped and smuggled to
mainland Chinafor political investigation. Book sold at the Causeway Bay Bookstore are banned
in the mainland, but are available in HK, where freedom of the press and other civil liberties are
enjoyed by its citizens, privileges that are unseen in mainland China( Hong Kong Unsettled, 2016).
Moreover, China s own police force, called public security, does not have rights to act in HK
territory, because HK self governs with a different set of laws, and its own police force, and
special ops, but no army, nor are foreign embassies allowed to be set up in HK (consulates are set
up instead), which causes the HK people who enjoys their degree of independence from the
mainland more worried, concerned, and terrified by such event of potential suppression of freedom
in HK, and they see it as an attempt of hegemony, both political and cultural, by the mainland China
to HK.

Pros And Cons Of Legal Burden Of Proof
According to Murphy on Evidence this was explained as the whole of the evidence, of the truth or
sufficient probability of every essential fact in issue.
There are two types of burdens involved in criminal and civil action. Such as,
Legal Burden (LB) and
Evidential Burden (EB)
In the case of legal burden, the jury decides the matter of the case and when it comes to the criminal
matters the prosecution has the burden to prove. In criminal actions the accused, is considered as an
innocent party and the prosecution should have to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt.
According to the woolmington principle the burden of proof is lie on the prosecution and till the
end of the trial, the accused (criminal procedure) is presumed to be innocent

Essay on Freedom of Expression in Turkmenistan
Freedom of Expression Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan is one of the most repressive countries in world. For years it has been closed to
independent scrutiny and it strongly violates all the articles which relate to the freedom of
expression. Human rights defenders and activists are continuously scrutinized and threatened with
imprisonment by the Turkmen government. Turkmenistan is ranked by the World Press Freedom
Index number 178 out of 180 and has gone down one place since 2013. (www.rsf.org) This ranking
is proved by continuous reports of journalists not being able to operate openly and are harassed by
the authorities.
An example of a recent violation of the Freedom of Expression article is when Turkmen authorities

Economic Analysis of Title Ix
Laurie Holmes April 30, 2010 Econ4494W Thesis Proposal: Title IX and College Sports
Throughout history, according to the laws of almost every country, males have been the dominate
sex. In almost every sector of life, the law has granted men more rights and privileges, whether it
be property rights or the right to vote. However, in the United States, ever since women s suffrage,
all women s rights have been increasing steadily. One privilege that men have had in the past,
active and supported participation in intercollegiate sports, has also been opened up to women
through Title IX, part of an amendment to the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Although Title IX does not
solely target sports, its effect on college sports across the United States... Show more content on

I will collect data from athletic departments, focusing specifically on Division 1 NCAA public
institutions, as well as data from the sources listed below. I will use this data to create economic
regressions using utilizing Ordinary Least Squares to answer questions such as: If an athletic
department adds an additional women s team, how does that affect the department s efficiency?
Or how does a percentage increase in women playing athletics save society money on obesity
prevention? I also hope to develop a model to reconcile the benefits to society and universities
with the costs to reach an optimal point of efficiency for both. Lastly, I want to apply different
proposed amendments, listed in the previous paragraph, to Title IX to see how they would affect
its efficiency. I, thus far, have five sources to use for this paper: Anderson, Deborah, and John
Cheslock. Institutional Strategies to Achieve Gender Equity in Intercollegiate Athletics: Does
Title IX Harm Male Athletes?. American Economic Review . 94.2 (2004): 307 11. Print. This
article specifically focuses on gender issues and the possible harm that Title IX has caused on
male sports while trying to help females. It discusses the college s decisions about how to adjust to
Title IX, such as whether cutting male programs is really a

  • 5. Radiation Exposure Among Health Care Workers Radiation Exposure among Health Care Workers Introduction Radiation is actuality of life and in terms of defining; it is the emission (sending out) of energy from any source. We live in a world in which radiation is unsurprisingly present everywhere and has been since the creation of this planet. Light and heat from nuclear reaction in sun are crucial to our survival. Radioactive materials occur naturally all through the environment and our bodies contain radioactive materials for example carbon 14, and potassium 40 naturally (Knoll, 1989). All life on Earth has evolved in the presence of this radiation. One can categorize radiation according to the effects it produces on matter, into non ionizing and ionizing radiation. Sources and distribution of average radiation exposure to the world population. http://www.who.int/ionizing_radiation/env/en/ Radiation is one cause, along with hundreds that result in cancer. Radiation is invisible to the naked eye, making it more difficult for our senses to detect. The fundamental background of cosmic rays, gamma rays, and natural radioactivity within the body gives rise to an annual dose of about 1 mSv or more to an average person in the world. It is simple, in some situations, to control non natural sources of radiation for the reason that we can adjust or eliminate the procedure producing the radiation, however there is always a balance to be made. It is vital, for example, to be aware of the doses from medical x ray examinations, but it would not be smart to lessen the doses where it would result to a loss of vital diagnostic information that could not have been found with radiation. This is all part of the cost and benefits of using radiation. Radiation affects people by depositing energy in body tissue, which can cause cell damage or cell death. In several cases there may be no obvious effect. In other cases, the cell might survive but grow to be abnormal, either temporarily or permanently. Furthermore, an abnormal cell could become malignant. Both large and small doses of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Midterm Reflection From the beginning of the semester until now, I believe I have made progress with the goals I considered for the midterm exam. Those goals were staying turned out, fully extending the working leg to the back, and carrying the working leg en l air at the same height. In addition to these three aspects, new challenges were discovered over the current ones. The new challenges have allowed myself to set new goals for the upcoming semester of Spring 2018. During the midterm conference, Dr. Sims provided me a few exercises I could work on outside of class to improve my turnout. The exercise I have really worked on is with a theraband. This exercise consists of tieing the theraband around the thigharea tight enough to allow resistance and begin to externally rotate the legs. This exercise targets turning out from the hips as I was turning out from the knee, which could be another cause of my knee pain. Not only is working with a theraband working, but continuing to think about sending energy out from the tip of my hip of the working leg into my big toe. With this idea in my head, it allows me to fully lengthen the working leg and not let the knee drop or turn parallel to the floor. For example, while in arabesque or working to the back, I have had a bad habit of letting the working leg go into flexion. Not only in this area, but as well as rhon de jambes. The Place No One Knew portrayed fragments of the canyon rather than broad sweeping scenic landscapes. Although costly, $25, The Place No One Knew was a large format book with color images and elegant craftsmanship of typographer and lithographer. One reviewer commented, the book needed to be so large and to contain such high quality prints and exquisite typography. By buying the book, particularly given its expensive price, Americans could gain atonement; through consumption, they could help pay for the sins of the nation (Dunaway, 2005, p. 181). Critics claimed Porter s photos demonstrated a duality between portraying the aesthetics of nature with scientific understanding for what is at stake. Using these techniques, the author effectively attracts the readers attention and explains the main point of the rest of the article. I noticed that in this article, Parker challenges the media s representation on the effectiveness of early childhood development by stating that you should not change how you raise your child based on trivial news articles. Parker lists sources: Newsweek, the Clintons, and books about early development, as causes for parents to go overboard on developing their young children. The point that Parker is trying to get across is that these articles are not reasons for society to change their parental habits. The author is saying that the news articles can not prove one way or the other that teaching your child early in life gives them the advantage. Just because an article says that in some cases child development is effective, it doesn t mean that it is true or appropriate to change the way you are teaching your two year old. Parker s technique is to debunk the idea of these sources, and to get the reader to believe in her side.To further her persuasive article, the author wanted to show that the media can not prove one way or the other that teaching your child early will affect how smart they become in life. Psychiatrist and educator, Dr. Aaron Temkin Beck (the father of Cognitive Emotive Therapy), first proposed that false ideas could actually damage mental health. Dr. David Burns popularized this notion in his book, The Feeling Good Handbook: Techniques and Exercises to Help Cope with Depression without Drugs, a classic work in the field of mental health. Though developed by Temkin in the 1960s, Cognitive Emotive Therapyhas only grown in influence within the mental health field during the past half century. Its therapies have become common tools in the clinical treatment of depression and have been used by clinicians to address criminal behavior. The first article in this issue of Watchmen, Assumption Busting, explores how faulty assumptions can make our problem solving ineffective. Cognitive Emotive Therapy makes a broader claim. Mistaken ideas can actually ruin our lives and health with bad decisions. Put another way, faulty (or irrational) thinking makes us ill, but rational thinking restores our mental health and social balance. According to Cognitive Therapy, our reasoningcan fall into typical irrational traps. These traps are automatic ways in which we have trained ourselves to misinterpret our experience. As a result, we base our actions on faulty ideas that lead to bad choices. The thinking traps listed below are among those Dr. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout his life he has written both plays and books such as Zaire, Treatise on Tolerance and Dictionnaire Philosophique (Gray, 13). Voltaire believes that Law is a rational guide in an irrational world. This means that the purpose of laws is to give the citizens a certain duty that must be fulfilled in order for society to function properly. If this is to successfully work through laws then everything else should run by laws including the Crown and Church that have very important duties. The entire state should be run on duties that everyone must fairly fulfill. Therefore the state exists for the citizen (Gray, 45). The duties are created to make things safer for the citizens. • 17. Describe The Benefits Of The Gold Standard Between 1870 and 1900, most developed countries throughout the world used the gold standard. Countries used the gold standard mainly because of Britain s steadfast of gold and that they had the most commercial and financial significance at the time (Meissner, 2005). The gold standard also allowed for an easier, more stable, secure way to trade with one another. Countries who adopted the Gold Standard saw greater symmetry, and lower costs of trade (Alesina and Barro, 2002). The Gold Standard was like a Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval , which was a system of adherence between countries to have cheaper trading. The more a country adhered to the gold standard, the less they were charged during trade. Countries, who did not adhere or only moderately adhered, were charged a considerably higher rate during trade at this time (Bordo, 1995). This fostered an environment of a desire to adhere and participate in having your countries currency backed by gold. However, there were times when the Gold Standard was not adhered to at all. These exceptions to the gold standard were allowed only during times of war, a financial crisis or shocks to terms of trade. The Unites States, Britain and France were the benefits of this exception, saving them financially during World War I and various financial panics they had domestically (Bordo, 1995). This colonisation was met with conflict and resistance, involving many indigenous groups, and led to tense skirmishes with the Zulu Nation. This struggle between the Zulus and the English led to the Battle of Isandlwana, one of the most famous British defeats in history. The causes involved demands for labour and land, however there was an ulterior motive as to why Zululand was invaded. Regarding Anglo Zulu relations, the British felt that the Zulu Nation posed a great military threat against the White Natal Colony and the Transvaal. The British sought to set up a Federation of White colonies and states in South Africa in 1879 , however they felt vulnerable due to the fear caused by the very near Zulu menace (Source D). This specific fear of the Zulu nation was dominant because at the time Cetshwayo had transformed the Zulus into a stronger and mightier power, and therefore was more of a threat towards the British. This fear of the Zulus potentially overthrowing the white government spread to other regions of South Africa, where the settlers hoped that the white government would stay in power. The power shift is prominent, shifting from the lords and nobles to the merchants of the middle class. The Age of Exploration has provided a framework for economic life around the world for several centuries while also shaping politics, social relations, cultures, and natural environments, changing the very nature of society. Of course the most important aspect of this modernistic convention would most certainly be the newfound relation between, capitalism and globalization and their effects on economic and political power. However some countries succeeded in their endeavour of international trade, while others did not. Europeans constructed and maintained their trade and territorial empires, whether through conquest, centralizing authority, religious conversion, commercial monopolies, or through conflict with other Europeans. Economics seems to be the most significant factor in the production line of human progress. There has been no event in history that did not involve an aspect of economy. However, experts agree that influenza and influenza related deaths could be significantly prevented if people took the influenza vaccine annually. The influenza virus is a deadly virus that has been killing people since the 1900s; in 1918 the first recorded epidemic of a strain of influenzaknown as the Spanish flu killed approximately 50 million people ( Pandemic Flu History ). Because people did not know what the virus was or how to fight against it, it spread very fast. At first, Bartleby s motive for his rebellion seems hazy throughout the story. After reading the story once, I found myself lost, and not having understood most of it. However, going through it once more, and breaking it down helped me slowly realize that Bartleby s rebellion seems to be a political statement, a cry for help to a world that is engulfed by capitalism. Bartleby s true strength appears during the retelling of his story by the narrator. The fact the narrator has been affected by Bartleby s bold rejection, and is greatly preoccupied by the reasoning of his actions, or in Bartleby s case lack of actions, highlights how strong Bartleby s impression truly was. The islands are imagined as riding the ocean s bosom . The listening winds receive the song being sung by the pilgrims. The phrase, the watery maze is by itself admirably as conveying the idea that the pilgrims could have been lost on the sea, not knowing the direction in which to sail. One of the most vivid images is that of the whales which seem to carry the ocean upon their backs but which can be destroyed by the power of God: He the huge sea monsters wracks,/ That lift the deep upon their backs. The imagery in The Garden is very pastoral, it could be a reference to the garden of Eden. Unlike other metaphysical poets, Marvell derives some of it from classical reference, such as the myths of Apollo and Pan. The speaker then presents an image of his soul detaching from his body, but remaining in the garden. Recently it is a controversial phenomenon, the disappointment with budgeting is occurring. This is because some people find that budgeting processes is time consuming and often lead to dysfunctional behavior. Additionally, they make organization fail to be flexible in such an uncertain financial environment. Many people think traditional budgeting systems should be abolished, but others wish to improve them. Hope and Fraser (2003b) provide a few European companies that have abolished traditional budgeting systems successfully. On the other hand, Eckholm and Wallin (2000) observed approximately 61% of firms will improve the budgeting processes and continue to use them as control purpose. This paper argues that whether budgeting should be abolished or not mainly focus on three aspects, fixed performance contracts , time consuming and the changes of budgeting in real life. Evidence is presented that as a control instrument although budgeting has some shortcomings, it should not be abolished. Instead, those shortcomings could be addressed by some improvement measures. Fixed performance contracts One criticism of Hope and Fraser is that budgets use a mechanism called fixed performance contracts. They contend that when budget related elements have changed during budgeting period, a fixed goal may stand a poor performance evaluation criterion. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is also known for creative and unexpected movement between keys in his compositions. Dying at a tragically young age, Schubert managed to release an enormous body of works, publishing over two hundred songs while alive. Despite this already impressive output of songs, nothing stopped Schubert from composing symphonies, chamber music, and solo works as well. Close analysis of his music reveals how skillfully Schubert was able to set text, move fluidly to foreign keys, and much more. Schubert s repeated octave staccato triplets suggest the hoofbeats of the important fifth character, the horse, the vehicle of hope and deliverance; the four minutes of his song convey the urgency of a ride against an indistinct but baleful force (Bamforth). During the ride, the son recounts his hallucination of the Erlking, the king of the elves, chasing them to his father. In fact, no celestial object has inspired more myth and legend than the full moon (Newton). This shows how the lunar effect has been very controversial. Some reasons that cause the controversy of the lunar effect are the over reliance of anecdotes instead of scientific evidence, as well as the exaggeration of the media, and the general publics inability to define the lunar effect. All of these reasons cause the controversy of the lunar effect to exist. There has been many anecdotes involving the lunar effect. A huge amount of anecdotes involve crimes that took place on the night of the full moon. For example, a dispatcher said that six years ago on the night of the full moon, he responded to a report of a fight at a hotel saying that one of the men looked like the comic book character of wolverine ( Alkofer,2016 ). A different dispatcher also had a story involving a crime that took place on a night with a full moon. The dispatcher talked about how he s been on the job for only two months, and how he had to respond to a call about a sixty nine year old woman who was brandishing a shotgun under the night of a full moon (Alkofer,2016). The fuqaha were elite religious scholars, or members of a wealthy family, that rose to power in 700 (Lecture, October 19). • 43. `` All Sex, All The Time `` By Theodore Dalrymple Theodore Dalrymple, in the essay All Sex, All the Time reflects on the change of view of the people about sex and how it has lead people into more confusion and conflict than before. Dalrymple s real name being Anthony Daniels, he picked up the pseudonym of Theodore Dalrymple for the purpose of his essays. There were times when virginity was a pride to men and women. However, it still prevails in some countries, this custom and the people have been changing. He states that the world is now free to enjoy sexual pleasures without any fear of the myths and taboos that existed in history. Although people feel that they are satisfied and are free to choose this path of life, sex has lead people into confusion, contradiction, and conflict states Dalrymple (Dalrymple 1). Dalrymple takes the chance of stating how the world will be, in about a hundred years. He thinks that twelve year girls would be in the streets at night, as prostitutes, where police would be guarding them and health authorities would come by to distribute condoms to prevent any infections. Then, the common people would be given instruments to get rid of the condoms in their backyard and gardens. The reason behind this is that morals are dying; over the years, people have become non judgmental. People feel that being non judgmental is staying away from people s wishes and letting them do what they like, in their own ways. Being non judgmental, in this case affects those young girls, the public, the environment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jack himself is nothing more than an animalistic beast that finally gets uncaged and set free at the end of the novel. Jack finds his identity in his tribe, as his tribe s animalistic tendencies grow, so do his. Jack also represents the boys growing love for power and destruction, as well as the love for power and destruction that is in everyone. Ralph is the symbol for common sense and logic. Ralph is rational and that s why he is the original leader, why he is in control. He finds his identity in his morality and justness, which is what made him so perfect for his starting role, and his ending role. The end of the book is chaos, something Ralph doesn t fit into. The smaller characters also are symbols. Roger represents the desire for violence and torture, Piggy represents intellect and maturity, and Simon represents piety. Following its publication, Lord of the Flies was barred from being taught in many places worldwide for its excessive use of discrimination, violence, and foul language (4). The novel was under the most duress during 1980 1990 when several school districts around the country refused to teach the book and challenged the novel to their superiors (4). The teachers weren t just troubled with the violence, discrimination, and foul language, but also that the boys in the novel weren t fighting for survival, they were fighting simply to satiate the beast within themselves ... Economic Analysis of Title Ix Laurie Holmes April 30, 2010 Econ4494W Thesis Proposal: Title IX and College Sports Throughout history, according to the laws of almost every country, males have been the dominate sex. In almost every sector of life, the law has granted men more rights and privileges, whether it be property rights or the right to vote. However, in the United States, ever since women s suffrage, all women s rights have been increasing steadily. One privilege that men have had in the past, active and supported participation in intercollegiate sports, has also been opened up to women through Title IX, part of an amendment to the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Although Title IX does not solely target sports, its effect on college sports across the United States... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will use this data to create economic regressions using utilizing Ordinary Least Squares to answer questions such as: If an athletic department adds an additional women s team, how does that affect the department s efficiency? Or how does a percentage increase in women playing athletics save society money on obesity prevention? I also hope to develop a model to reconcile the benefits to society and universities with the costs to reach an optimal point of efficiency for both. Lastly, I want to apply different proposed amendments, listed in the previous paragraph, to Title IX to see how they would affect its efficiency. I, thus far, have five sources to use for this paper: Anderson, Deborah, and John Cheslock.
