How Does Polonius Commit Suicide
1.)After Hamlet murders Polonius, a series of events begin to unfold; due to his actions, Claudius
sends Hamlet to England because he fears that Hamlet will kill him next. Claudius sends
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to England as well to ensure that the English will accidentally
murder Hamlet. Along with this, the death of Poloniuscauses Ophelia to lose her mind and
ultimately leads to her committing suicide.
2.)During his speech in the beginning of Scene 3, Claudius conveys how he is conflicted on
whether or not to kill Hamlet. He remarks how Hamlet is loved of the distracted multitude (IV.iii.4)
to describe how the people of Denmark admire Hamlet, which explains why it would be difficult to
kill him without it backfiring.

Modern Day Zeppelins Or Airships
Have you ever seen a modern day zeppelin or more commonly known as airships? Probably not.
Zeppelins were once very popular. People all over the world wanted to fly on them, until the
well known zeppelin called the Hindenburg went up in flames. Today, there are companies that
are trying to bring back the airships that are safer for the world to use. There are many reasons
that zeppelins or airships could be very popular again. One reason they could be popular again is
because they are safe and good fro the environment. Modern day airships would use helium, a
nonflammable gas, instead of Hydrogen, the very flammable hydrogen. Helium is environment
friendly, unlike hydrogen, which was used in the 1930 s zeppelins. That is how the Hindenburg

Grapevine Personal Statement
One reason I would like to Volunteer at Baylor Scott White in Grapevine Is to get exposure to
different medical fields inside the hospital. I know that this program is not a shadowing
opportunity or anything of that nature. However, every time I step foot in a hospital I get
extremely excited and ready to go to medical school. I am not only doing this for the experience
though. One of the things that brings me the most joy in life is being able to help people. In fact,
that is one of the reason s I want to go into the medical field. Something I hope to gain from this
experience is learning more about the hospitalenvironment. Once again I know this isn t a job
shadowing opportunity but being able to be inside the hospital, I can potentially still learn a lot
from observing my surroundings. Another thing I would like to be able to gain from this
experience is to learn even more people skills than I already know. I have a job so I do have the
people skills necessary to work, but I would love to learn more people skills and maybe some that

Battle of Bunker Hill
What would it be like to go to Bunker Hill? What would it be like to go to Breed s Hill? Well,
there was a battle called Battle of Bunker Hill that is a famous battle in history. The Battle of
Bunker Hill has many leaders, causes, effects and events that lead to fight.
There were very few causes. Well to begin with, History.com says that Prescott, one of the Patriots
leaders, heard that the British were coming. So Prescott got prepared. Although different sites say
different causes. Ushistory.com states that the British were threatening the Patriots. So of course,
the patriots were determined to win. There were also many men in this battle. According to the text,
The American Revolution, confirms Washington sent 1,000 men to defend for Bunker Hill. He
ignored orders and decided to fight for Breed s Hill, which was closer to the Boston Harbor, 68.
There were main leaders on each side. For example, Encyclopedia Americana, says on the British
side Thomas Gage and General Howe lead the soldiers. They ordered them to fire, get in columns,
march and many more things. Howe was sent with 1,600 men to out number the Patriots. There was
also a man named Artemas Ward and he made an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Arguments Against Teen Activism
Teen activism is when teens see problems in their communities or in the world and they take
actions to try to fix those problems. Thanks to the teen activists of the world, problems such as
lack of access to an education and too much electronic waste in the environment are in the
process of being solved. Teen activists are brave and they persevere. Teen activists do not take
no for an answer; instead, they face the obstacles in their way, learn from their mistakes and
stand up for what they believe in. They inspire others and help to make our worId a better place.
Without the effort of teen activists, problems like the ones mentioned above might not be
addressed. Teen activism plays an important role in helping to solve the issues in our world. When
teen activists see a problem, they do whatever they can to try and fix it . An essential part of teen
activism is gaining support for a cause. Therefore, teen activists talk to their families, friends and
others, such as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Civic Engagement In America
During the last century, American involvement toward civic are falling into a slump. This could
mark a new era of history for democracy but the question is what happens when only about 5% of
American will take part in civic. Since World II American civic engagement are greater and they are
more likely to trust their government and community but over time the people trust is beginning
fall. What could have caused this trust issue? Well, the problem here is over time the people begin
to see a lot lies the government feed them, for an example, the Vietnam war was one of the reason
that caused American reduce their trust the government as bomb the country with a lot of civilian

Three major online communication websites are Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. People can
share millions of photos and interact with each other at a constant pace. But does these
communication tools connect the people at all or disconnect them from public interaction. For
instant, the Women March is one of the largest march this year that have also almost a million
people engaged in civic: Organizers said Saturday they expect as many as a half million
participants potentially dwarfing Friday s inaugural crowd (The Washington Post). Half a
million is quite large for a crowd in a small space like Washington D.C. to March. And most these
people also signed up and being introduce through the Internet. But through online interaction can
cause a disconnection among people because they didn t develop a related relationship with
each other and might lead to chaos. Another example is a man who tore off an anti abortion
poster that are offer to him by anti abortion activist: Daryle Jenkins, who came from Philadelphia
to march today, was offered an Abortion Betrays Women poster by a group of anti abortion
activists. So, he took it and tore it up in front of them (The Washington Post). Did this man take it
too far to show his belief? In my perspective, he did take it too far by tore it up in front of the
people with difference view and this would make a good reason that American

US Health Care System: Does the Public Get the Best Return vs. Investment
The United States spends more of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on healthcare then any other
industrialized country in the world and because of this one would think that the U.S. provides one
of the top universal healthcare plans for all citizens without health insurance. Furthermore, the U.S.
s overall health system performance is 37 out of 191 (qtd in U.S. Census Bureau), obviously 37 out
of 191 is horrible especially because of the investment made by tax paying citizens. This problem
affects a massive amount of Americans. Approximately 40 million Americans are without health

The Importance Of Sexual Harassment In The Office
Sexual harassment continues to be a large problem within the workplace and around the world.
Donna Benson, an American writer, writes in Sexual Harassment on a University
Campus: The Confluence of Authority Relations, Sexual Interest and Gender Stratification that
Female workers have always been vulnerable to sexual abuse by male employees...In non random
surveys as many as 70 percent of respondents report harassment on the job (236). This is an
unfortunate statistic and through comedy, the television series The Office(U.S.), created by NBC,
and directed by Benjamin Novak reveals how inappropriate harassment is. The Office (U.S.) is a
comedy based around Dunder Mifflin Paper company s Scranton branch manager, Michael Scott.
Michael is a comedic and belligerent character who is unaware of his socially unacceptable humor,
which shows the audience how unacceptable sexual harassment is. Throughout the second episode
of season two, Michael Scott negatively depicts males through his humor. In addition, the way his
female employees react to his nonsense is similar to the way Jessica Valenti combats sexual
harassment. Lastly, through the use of comedy, the producers of The Office reveal to its audience
how sexual harassment is unacceptable. In Season two, episode two of The Office (U.S.), Michael

Apple s iOS and Google s Android operating systems (OS) are both used in similar devices, tablets
and phones. However, the look and feel of both is very different. Smartphones and tablet computers
have become increasingly popular; two operating systems have come to the forefront, iOS, and
Android. Both contain similarities but the way in which they are used, and the devices they are

This can cause problems for the company because it can fragment their market share as well as
confuse the public. Not all devices run all OS versions, not all devices look the same because of the
skinning that comes from some hardware manufacturers.
One major difference between the two operating systems is the fact that Android is part of the
Android Open Source Project (AOSP) which allows developers access to the Software
Development Kit (SDK) to develop applications for Android devices, which is the most
important part of the new Smartphone market. Apple, as with most things they release have a
closed system, you have to pay to become a developer and develop with tools they proved. This
puts a burden on the developers right away because Android is extensively free, while iOS has an
initial cost to even get started, and that s if you already have an Intel based Mac.
Application development itself is different in the respect that they use different programming
languages to create the applications (apps). Android applications are usually developed using the
Java language but with tools that are available can be created using C, or C++. Apple iOS
applications are created using their own custom software and Objective C language. The approval
process one applications are developed are also much different. With an Android App is developed

The design brief for the timber tray is to design and manufacture a rectangular timber tray where
it is used to carry plates and cutlery for example morning breakfast in bed or maybe to carry drinks
or tea to a table.
2. Drawings: This may include freehand sketches and orthographic drawings.
3. Material List: This is an outline of the materials you used to manufacture your project.
To able to complete the project of the timber tray materials were used to manufacture a perfect
rectangular timber tray. The materials involved are garnet paper (80, 120 and 180), PVA glue,

These pieces were then nail together and a template was used to create the curved lines for the
timber tray and it showed how the pacific maple would end up like. The two piece of woods
were then trimmed with a jigsaw and further trimmed with the band saw. The pacific maples
were then sanded to remove the marks created from the band saw. After that, two shorter pieces
were chosen and the same steps were applied. The two pieces were nailed and using a template
the handles of the timber tray were drawn. The drill press was then used to drill holes into the
two pieces and then the handles were made from using a jigsaw. The jigsaw sawed off the wood
in marked area from the template. The pair of handles were sanded to take of any sharp edges
and to make the handle smooth. Both pairs of wood were taken apart so there would be four
pieces of wood, two long and two short. Then the finger joint were made using the finger
jointing machine (trimmer router) were when cutting the joint for the shorter pieces, the end of
the longer piece was put up against the shorter piece and then that was drilled to create the finger
joints. Once this process was done, the four pieces were joined up to create the timber frame.
This frame was then glued together using PVA glue. A plywood base was then picked and the
frame was marked on the plywood using a pencil. The base and the frame were put together with
a thin layer of PVA glue and then reinforced with twelve millimeter nails. The base had four nails
along the length and three nails on the width. Nails weren t nailed in the corners because it could
nail into the joint, which would separate the joint and create a gap in the joint. Once the glue had
dried the timber tray was put on the linisher and the timber tray was sanded to remove bits created
by the linisher. After that, linseed oil was applied to the timber tray. Once the oiling process was

time passed, it became impossible for me to be in bed even by 11 PM. At this particular time, so to

This is not a surprise, actually, because night time means that people go to pubs or clubs.
Consequently, the desire to consume alcohol and nicotine is much higher and is less resistible.
Researchers who conducted the same studies, created a parallel between the alcohol abuse as
well as mental disorders with the novelty seeking. Novelty seeking, according to Wikipedia, is a
personality trait associated with exploratory activity in response to novel stimulation, impulsive
decision making, extravagance in approach to reward cues, and quick loss of temper and
avoidance of frustration. The same research showed that larks tend to be more proactive,
agreeable and stable than owls. Besides, larks are less like to be procrastinators. The study
conducted by a researcher named Joseph Ferrari showed that larks procrastinate less because they
don t leave all the tasks till night. Owls, on the contrary, do this and such a habit may lead to job
troubles. A personis expected to do his/her job during the daytime and if a person can t do it, the
employer starts hesitating whether to keep such a worker at the office or not. Because there are
so many differences between there 2 types of people, it s almost impossible to form any

Summary Of Toxic Charity By Robert Lupton
Robert Lupton (2011) clearly states his thesis in the opening line of his book; What Americans
avoid facing is that while we are very generous in charitable giving, much of that money is either
wasted or actually harms the people it is targeted to help (pg. 1). Wrapped in this sentence are
several themes that Lupton seeks to unpack throughout his work. He lays the foundation for the
need of charitable reform by providing examples and insight into instances where charitable giving
can harm where it intended to help. Then he goes on to provide numerous examples of charitable
giving that helps instead of harms its recipients. Throughout the book he contributes ways to turn

I really enjoyed about the museum. It was surprising to learn the Getty Center is free for
everyone that attends. When arriving we of course had to pay for parking, which was fifteen
dollars for an all day parking pass. With the parking pass, the museum allows you to leave and
return once within the same day. This is ideal for those who rather get food off the museum s
property. When arriving at the museum we rode on a six minute tram ride. The tram ride was
included in the price of parking. Walking up to the museum s entrance was an experience of its
own. The architecture was entertaining. There were several areas that grabbed the viewers
attention. After speaking to a museum employee, I was able to notice different areas with in the
museum. The architect used large pooped out stones to grab the viewers attention. These
pooped out stones provide a path to view points with in the museum. For example; one pooped
out stone showed a view of the Central Garden, another lead us to a view of Los Angeles. The
views were beautiful from the guided points. The museum was broke up into different pavilions.
Each pavilion had a different theme, it was very easy to locate each pavilion and artwork within
the building. One pavilion had a Changing Exhibition. While visiting the theme of the West
Pavilion was The Lure of Italy: Artist Views. I soon realized all areas of the museum change to
help protect the art on display. Areas of the Getty Museum included several painting galleries,
sculpture, decorative art galleries, architecture, gardens and of course the changing exhibits. While
walking through the buildings it was fascinating to see all the different styles of art on display.
Artists all have their own techniques when creating their expression of what they see. Many
paintings dated back to the 1700 s and seemed to have very little cracks or signs of age within the
paintings. While experiencing the painting galleries, I was hopeful to find a painting by both
Vincent van Goghand Claude Monet. To my surprise the museum had one piece by

Motif Of Chaos Essay
According to the Webster dictionary , a motif is a dominant idea or literary feature. In the days of
mythological writing, it was not uncommon for many cultures to include similar ideas or morals.
These motifs are three of the main motifs that drew my attention: the motif of chaos, the reason for
more than one god, and why humans were put on earth.
Motif #1: An Explanation for Chaos There are many obvious motifs included in all the myths
discussed. One of the main motifs used in multiple myths was the explanation for chaos. Many
cultures believed that the chaos the gods put upon the people was retaliation of the actions. Another
theory is that the gods caused chaos to show their people that there would not always be all good,
and that good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For one god to have to manage the world and care for its people would be a massive amount of
responsibility. As a result, many cultures had multiple creators. Inclusion to this motif would be that
these cultures thought that having multiple gods or leaders in charge would have a better outcome.
The cultures that believed in having shared responsibility were the Incas, the Mayans, and the
Maoriall. In the Inca creation myth, Pachacamac created his wife to help him rule the world. In the
Mayan creation myth, Tepeu and Gucumatz shared the responsibility of caring for the earth and its
people. In the Maori creation myth, Te PЕЌ came from Te Kore to help care for the earth.
Motif #3: Why humans were put on earth In most creation myths, humans were created to care
for earth. It is my opinion that so many cultures had humans created to care for the earth so that
earth could function. Humans were created to Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.
In the Christian Tradition myth, these are the words of God the creator himself. He created man
to care for the earth that He created. Women were made to be man s partner and man was made to
care for the earth or to be a slave for the

Essay On Frankenstein
Mary Shelley is one of the best known authors of gothic literature. Her most famous work is the
horror novel Frankenstein which she wrote at the early age of 20. Since she was so young when
writing the novel, it is interesting to ask for her ideas and the source of inspiration for the content
of her story. In literary studies, Roland Barthes theory says that the author and so his or her life
should not be the reference point for an analysis (Jannidis et al. 182). Nevertheless in some stories,
the traces of the author are so strong and important that they cannot be ignored when analysing the
story. Therefore, this essay will examine the traces of Mary Shelley s biography in Frankenstein
with reference to mother s death, different places... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shelley s stepmother did not want the children to be highly educated due to her own only
average education. Shelley probably educated herself through reading a lot and the comings and
goings of such rare personalities as Lamb and Coleridge to the house (Sparks 13). This might
serve as an argument why books and reading are often mentioned in Frankenstein. Education is
also important for Victor Frankenstein. He studies in Germany and becomes a scientist with
deep knowledge in this area. Not only for Victor, education also plays a major role for other
characters. For example, Elizabeth is sad because she [has] not the same opportunities of
enlarging her experience, and cultivating her understanding (Shelley 106) when Victor leaves to
visit France, the Netherlands, Scotland and England. So even for a woman, knowledge was
desirable. Due to the lack of a high education, it might be that Shelley was not able to speak any
foreign languages. She might come to terms with it and the probable wish to speak other
languages through the detailed description of the acquisition of a language (Shelley 74 79). In
conclusion, one can see that education played a key role in Shelley s life even if she was not
allowed to take part in it as much as she would have

Intergenerational Mobility
When most people (here in the US or anywhere else in the world) hear or talk about the United
States, a common theme is living the America Dream . The American Dream is the idea that
children will have a higher standard of living than their parents and in 1940, 92 percent of them
did. But by 1980 that number decreased to 50 percent, in terms of absolute mobility. The term
successful is a universal term and applies different for every single individual because everyone
has different levels of success, some are higher then others and there can be some barriers in the
way. There are many stories and evidence that have proven this theme but in the fine details there
are many other things that come into play when it comes to becoming successful .... Show more

However, when a student wants to attend college after high school, the chances of going to any
school of his or her choice can seem unfair and have unequal opportunity to other peers.
Unfortunately the idea of being limited to attending certain schools has a big influence in chances
of becoming successful. Even though higher educations seems to have a direct path for high wages,
the access to college can have reverse effects on intergenerational mobility. By limiting access from
someone in a bottom percentile to have the possibility to attend a good college harms their upward
mobility. In efforts to help breakdown an understanding of how education affects intergenerational
mobility, a study called Mobility reports cards show significant findings. Mobility reports cards
were conducted by collecting administrative data from more then thirty million college students in
the years of 1999 2013. We obtain rosters of attendance at all Title IV accredited institutions of

data from the National Student Loan Data System. We obtain information on students earnings in

Henry David Thoreau And Transcendentalism
Henry David Thoreau was a leading transcendentalist. He was most known for his essays, with the
major themes focusing on nature and government. His works weren t highly appreciated during his
lifetime, but as years went on they became very influential. He was one of the first
environmentalists, and he laid the groundwork for a lot of progressive movements. Henry David
Thoreauwas born on July 12, 1817 in Concord, Massachusetts. In 1833 he started studying at
Harvard college, till 1837. He studied rhetoric, the classics, philosophy, mathematics, and
science. Thoreau didn t like the idea of traditional professions, so in 1835 he took a break from
Harvard to teach. When he went back to Harvard, he refused to pay the five dollar fee for his
diploma. After he graduated, he started teaching at a public school in Canton, Massachusetts. He
quit a few weeks after starting because he refused to use capital punishment on his students. In
1838, he and his brother, John, opened a grammar school. This school was extremely progressive
for its time; they would take nature walks and bring their students to local shops and businesses.
The school closed in 1842 when John died. Shortly after college, Thoreau met Ralph Waldo
Emerson. Emerson took a great interest in Thoreau and opened him up to amazing opportunities.
Emerson introduced him to some of the most influential people of the time; Ellery Channing,
Margaret Fuller, Bronson Alcott, and Nathaniel Hawthorne. In 1842, Thoreau moved in

Argumentative Essay On Creation Vs Evolution
Students and adults often have questions about the way humans and our world came into being.
Some of the questions are, What is the difference between creation and evolution? and Is evolution
more valid than creation? Evolutionists tend to say that the debate between creationism and
evolution is about the Bible versus science. In reality, the debate is about good science versus bad
science. Thanks to the ongoing debate between creationismand evolution, people have continued to
explore different areas of science to develop a greater understanding of how we came to exist.
Research has led us to surmise that creationism is supported by more scientific evidence than
various thoughts on evolution.
One of the most well known points of the theory of evolution is that life evolved from a tiny
organism to what it is now.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What if instead of a common ancestor, all species have a common creator? Supporters of
evolution often attempt to use natural selection to prove their point. Natural selection is the
process where the organisms which are better adapted to their environments tend to survive and
produce more offspring than other organisms. For this to be a valid argument, Eskimos would
have grown heavy fur to stay warm, and humans that live in the tropics would have smooth, shiny
skin to help them stay cool. Currently, Eskimos have normal skin and wear coats to keep warm,
while people who live in the tropics have darker skin. Another example that disproves natural
selection is seen in different types of animals. Bears, tigers, lions, and other animals have heavy
fur, even though they live in hot climates. A jungle leopard that lives in hot climates has the same
amount of fur as a snow leopard that lives in freezing cold climates. All of these examples show
that natural selection, which is a key point of evolution, is

Argumentative Essay On Homelessness In Australia
The issue of homelessness in regard to shelter in Australia has been prevalent for an extended
period of time in the 21st century. Homelessness is the situation in which individuals are unable to
attain a permanent and adequate quality of shelter. Shelter is a human right as stated under article
25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which specifies Housing as part of the standard
of living required for an individual to maintain their wellbeing. Australia s law specifies no legal
right to shelter, however as a party of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural
Rights (ICESCR), the Australian government must recognise that all individuals should be entitled
to an adequate standard of living for themself and their family , where one criteria is adequate
housing as stated in article 11. It is imperative that in order to fulfil both Australia s obligation to
uphold human rights and maintain social cohesion within society both legal and non legal
responses are effective in dealing with both the causes and effects of homelessness.
Homelessness is an issue which stems from a large range of external factors which by themselves
are difficult to address. One such contemporary factor in NSW regarding homelessness is the
affordability of adequate shelter with the Sydney Morning Herald reporting the median price in
Sydney to be $1.15 million. This has made it harder for individuals to afford homes which are
adequate as per the requirements of article 11

The Importance Of Ethical Dilemmas In Nursing
Becoming a nurse includes responsibilities ranging from safe patient care to handling laws and
ethical dilemmas that can happen within that patient care. One thing that falls under these
responsibilities for a nurse is the mandatory reporting law. Nurses are mandated to report any
suspicion of abuse following facility policy (Henry, et al., 2016). This includes clients ranging
from children to vulnerable persons, such as older and dependent adults. The time frame for
reporting abuse is within 30 days of the occurrence. Diagnoses of communicable diseases are also
mandated to report to the appropriate agencies, such as local and state health departments. The
diseases that are reported vary for each state (Data Collection and Reporting, 2017). The reporting
needs to be done by the health care providerwithin 30 days. The health departments have many
tasks to ensure after reports of communicable diseases. A correct treatment plan needs to be in
place. Identifying the source of outbreaks and monitoring for epidemic precautions are also things
to be done after this type of report.
Nurses face many ethical dilemmas throughout their career as well. Ethical practice is an
important concept in nursing, based on what is considered right or wrong. This is making a
choice between two options that are equally unfavorable. Ethical dilemmas are problems for which
more than one choice can be made and the choice is influenced by the values and beliefs of the
decision makers (Henry, et

Also the destruction of wetlands and overfishing have played a big role in letting this substance
get out of hand. With overfishing and the destruction of wetlands competing organisms that
usually keep the element from getting out of hand, are dying. And with less and less organisms
to keep it in check the growth only becomes faster. The effects of this are not only found in
Morenton Bay, Australia, but worldwide. During Swedish summers strands of the crynobacteria

scrape it off the beach each morning because of the smell. On the Gulf Coast of Florida residents
complain that harmful algae blooms are longer lasting, more frequent and bigger. This is killing
off many sea mammals and is flooding the Florida emergency rooms with patients suffering from
repertory diseases. North of Venice, Italy, a sticky mixture of algae and bacteria collects on the
Adriatic Sea in spring and summer. This white mucus washes ashore, fouling beaches, or congeals
into submerged blobs, some bigger than a person. On the Spanish coast jellyfish have become so

Paradox And Personification In The Hollow Man
Paradox and personification are two literary devices often used in literature. These literary devices
help poets convey certain meaning through their writing. This essay analyses the poems The
Hollow Men by T.S. Elliot and Death Be Not Proud by John Donne. These two poems were
chosen because of their use of literary devicesand the manner in which they were able to
communicate a deeper meaning. The essay analyses the poems by examining their use of paradox
and personification as well how the devices impact the poem.
T.S. Elliot and John Donne use paradox and personification in their poems. A paradox is a
statement that seems to be false but upon further examination proves to be true. Personification is
the action giving a nonhuman object or idea human characteristics. The use of a paradox in the
poem The Hollow Men by T.S. Elliot helps convey the mood of the poem by communicating to the
reader a more profound meaning. The use of literary device in Death Be Not Proud by John Donne
also helps express the mood of the poem. It does so through the use of a literary personification. In
poetry, paradox and personification can be used to convey the mood of a poem.
The poem The Hollow Men by T.S. Elliot uses paradox to convey the mood of the poem. The
poem The Hollow Men is about men who are standing in a field, describing what the afterlife is
like. This state of senselessness that the men are in creates a dull mood. It creates a mood of
emotional void. This mood is conveyed through paradox. In the poem, T.S. Elliot writes shape
without form (line 11). This is used to describe the hollow men and creates a paradox because
having a shape means you have a form, one cannot exist without the other. This is unless, it is
thought of from a different point of view. In art a shape is two dimensional while form is three
dimensional. When T.S. Elliot writes shape without form (line 11) it is not referring to the
physical appearance of the men but rather their lack of depth. It is referring to the men s flat
personality. Similarly the line shade without color (line 11) is used to convey the mood of the
poem. This line from the poem creates a paradox because a shade is a variation of a color, this
means that a

stereotype and being able to be excepted by heterosexual men) are terms used by Gay men to
classify the type of man they are looking for in a partner; actively rejecting and devaluing
femininity and upholding the hegemonic view of masculinity. Therefor I am researching the how do
gay and straight Latinos construct their masculinity? Straight men deem anything feminine as
less than, thus gay men are ousted. This ousting of gay men is a byproduct of heterosexism in
which a men only date women and vice versa, thus gay men are seen as effeminate for the sole
reason of dating other men. In an attempt to reclaim their lost masculinity gay men are rejecting
effeminate men in an attempt to be seen as one of the good gays . The traits of reclaiming what
gay Latinos feel is lost is strongly tied to femiphobia, internalized homophobia, and toxic
masculinity. Gay men want to be seen as normal and just one of the guys at the cost of their
fellow gay men s humanity and manhood. They want to be seen as the good gay which I define as
a gay man that wants to be removed from the stereotype and behaves and present as straight I want
to investigate how gay Latinos specifically construct their masculinity and if they are contracting it
based on their straight counterparts. It is important to distinguish how important masculinity is to
Latin men specifically gay Latinos and see if a

Should Roosevelt and Truman Have Done More to Help During the Refugee Crisis During WWII?
The first source is an interview of a man who was on the U.S.S. 1939 St. Louis. The second is an

The video from the USC Shoah Foundation is a primary source. It is an interview with a man
named Sol Messinger retelling his experience of being on the U.S.S. 1939 St. Louis fifty seven
years after going aboard the ship. As a result, it provides a first hand account of someone at the
event. This video was published on the USC Shoah Foundation and the Facing History and

President Franklin D. Roosevelt formed the War RefugeeBoard to reach out to the Jewish victims
in Germany. Along with the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and the World
Jewish Congress, thousands of refugees were now receiving help. However, most of the
accepted refugees were from areas that were not occupied by Nazis. On December 22, 1945,
U.S. President Harry S. Truman passed a policy called the Truman Directive. Under the policy,
22,950 displaced persons (DPs) came to the U.S. between 1945 and 1947. In 1948, 400,000
entered the U.S., however, only twenty percent were Jewish. This was due to the new
requirements by Congress. This new set of requirements were in favor of agricultural laborers, but

Exercising And A Body Builder
Exercising is Beneficial
Those who think they have not time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for
illness. Edward Stanley
Most people are aware that exercising will benefit the muscles and help them to get to the desired
weight they wish for. When exercising comes to the mind its usually because people want to be
healthier and stronger, but my question is what is stopping most people from partaking in exercise.
Some may claim that they don t have the time or they honestly could just be lazy. I am certain that
the lack of knowledge of the benefits exercising produces is what stops the individual from getting
motivated to get active. People would find time to exercise if they knew there was more to it than ...

Out of three kids only one is physically active every day. The reason that the kids are falling
away from everyday activity is because the adults are doing the same. The percentage of adults
who participate in only thirty minutes of physical activity every day is below five percent. Out
of every three adults, only one receives the amount of exercise recommended per week.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the amount of people in America
that are not achieving the suggested levels of physical activity are sixty percent. Having this
many adults and kids inactive is dangerous and needs to stop now. Roughly eighty million people
is far too many to be inactive and if we continue to go the rout that the people of this country are
going then the numbers say that by year two thousand and thirty at least half of the adults of
America will be obese. That is an astounding number to process because what that is saying is that
if we continue to live the way we do than half of Americans will be obese in thirteen years. . If we
as humans care about individual health then these numbers should be enough to motivate anyone to
find the time to partake in exercise.
Most people understand the concept that by exercising, you are essentially making the muscles
stronger, but what those same people may not consider is that when your muscles gain strength so
do your bones. You may

The Debate Over the Constitutionality of the Affordable...
Essay 3 The question of whether or not Congress has the power to force people to buy health
insurance has been highly advocated by the supporters, and highly scrutinized by the opposition.
The constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 has thus been
defended on both sides. Advocates argues why it is constitutional by providing reason and benefits
of the Act, and the opposition argues why it is not constitutional by providing reason, and stating
the drawbacks of the Act. The debate about the Constitutionality of the Act boils down to whether
has Congress violated its powers as outlined in Article I of the Constitution. Article I gives three
main powers to Congress, and those were restated by the Supreme Court in Perez v. United States.
Firstly, Congress can regulate the channels of interstate commerce. Secondly, Congress has the
authority to regulate and protect the instrumentalities of interstate commerce and persons or things
in interstate commerce. Thirdly, Congress has the power to regulate activities that substantially
affect interstate commerce. However, the last step is at interest regarding this topic because it
draws attention towards the participation/non participation about the Affordable Care Act that
could potentially affect interstate commerce. This is concerning because although the local
activities implied in the third power do not directly participate in interstate commerce, all local
activities within the U.S

Badger Vs Coyotes Essay
Cheater
As species evolved over time they become adapted to the environment in which they live in. Some
species become supreme at one trait that was passed down to them by their ancestor. This trait
assists them to survivor in the environment in which they live in. When hunting for a meal,
sometimes it could be difficult for a predator to catch a prey. For an instant, in a coyote badger
relationship, a coyote eats other species such as prairie dogs and ground squirrels, the coyote can
locate the prairie dog as well as run fast to catch them, however, the prairie dogs could easily
escape away in one of their numerous tunnels. The badger also eats prairie dogs and ground

This increase their chances of catching more prey. According to Ecology Letter , the term cheater
refers to an organism that obtains a benefit at the cost of another organism, a cheater also associated
with mutualism. Natural selection does favor cheaters because a cheater that cooperate with
another organism can, will expand its chances of survival. For this assignment, I choose to write
about the relationship between the badgers and coyotes. Although both only hunt together in a
certain region they both work together so well that they catch more prey when they are together
than when they are hunting by themselves or with their own species. According to Coyotes and
Badgers, Incorporated , coyotes hunting with badgers, succeed 30 percent more on catching prey
and have to work less than unaccompanied coyotes in the same area. The coyote does not eat the
badger, the behavior each other are more like a business they both understand the mutual
relationship between them. Their relationship facilitates for both to capture more prey. The coyote
doesn t have to work as hard as it needs to work when it s alone hunting or when it s hunting with
other coyotes, the badger does all the digging. This makes the coyote a cheater because it benefits

Miriam Ferguson Research Paper
Miriam Amanda Wallace Ma Ferguson (1875 1961), first woman governor of Texas, daughter of
Joseph L. and Eliza (Garrison) Wallace, was born in Bell County, Texas, on June 13, 1875. She
went to Salado College and Baylor Female College at Belton. In 1899, at the age of 24, she married
James Edward Ferguson, as well of Bell County. Mrs. Ferguson served as the first lady of Texas
during the gubernatorial terms of her husband (1915 17), who was challenged during his 2nd
administration. When James Ferguson failed to get his name on the ballot in 1924, Miriam entered
the race for the Texas governorship. Before announcing for office, she had committed her energies
mostly to her husband and two daughters. This fact, and the mixture of her first and... Show more

However, after the Texas Supreme Court again rejected her husband s petition to place his name
on the ballot in 1930, she entered the gubernatorial race. In the May primary she led Ross Sterling,
who then defeated her in the August runoff. Her defeat proved fortuitous politically because
Sterling, rather than she, was blamed by the voters when Texas began to feel the full impact of the
Great Depression. In February 1932 she again declared for the governorship; she promised to lower
taxes and cut state expenditures, and condemned alleged waste, graft, and political favoritism by
the Sterling controlled highway commission. After leading Sterling in the May primary by over one
hundred thousand votes, Ma Ferguson barely won the Democratic nomination in the August
primary. She then defeated the Republican nominee, Orville Bullington, in November to secure her
2nd term as governor. Her second administration did not engender as much controversy as the first,
despite dire predictions to the contrary by her political opponents. The fiscally conservative
governor held the line on state expenditures and even advocated a state sales tax and corporate
income tax, although the state legislature did not act on these proposals. Mrs. Ferguson continued
her liberal pardoning and parole policies, but even that action did not stir as much controversy as in
her first administration since every convict paroled or pardoned represented that much less

Persuasive Essay On Saving Lives
Saving Lives
Doctors in many different fields believe admitting you made a mistake is unethical but admitting
you made a mistake can only help yourself and others. When people share their mistakes with
others it allows them to learn from your failures preventing future mistakes of the same nature, it
can relieve stress revealing actions that you may regret or hold against yourself. Doctors should
learn from errors to learn better techniques or ways to double check their conclusions because it
does not just affect the doctor it also affects the patient. Many doctors suffer from fatigue or
overcrowded emergency rooms, some feel the effects and others do not but we still need to
allow others to double or triple check decisions as much as possible for the well being of the
patient. Lastly, something needs to be done about how patients are view as a number versus as a
person that can give doctors the idea that they do not need to give them the best care as possible.
When somebody shares their errors this allows others to learn how to prevent these same
mistakes as well as giving them an idea of how to create new methods to better themselves. Such
as the use of technology used in many hospitals and doctors offices helping check dosages,
medical history and medication combinations. Modern technology has come a long way allowing
medical professionals to lower their rate of error. Professionals who admit their personal
professional mistakes avoid the norms of society allowing

from illegal industries, such as prostitution and other examples, such as the safety behind using car

and commentary on how this system is functioning poorly, could be improved, or related to other
larger issues in society, such as combating terrorism. In their introduction, Levitt and Dubner
discuss seeing the world from the perspective of economists and include being a person in an
undeveloped nation such as India and the transition from horses to cars, as well as talking about

Prostitutes do mostly part time work and can make a lot of money to support themselves, as
opposed to taking other jobs, due to the fact that the work is illegal and customers are willing to

also related to differences in how much money a woman earns compared to a man. A woman is
willing to be a prostitute, since she can charge a higher. With relations to economics, prostitutes are
involved in cost benefit analysis when it comes to having a pimp, just like people do when it

Statistical Assumptions Of Substantive Analyses Across The...
Nimon, K. (2012). Statistical Assumptions of Substantive Analyses Across the General Linear
Model: A Mini Review. Frontiers in Psychology Front. Psychology, 3(322).
When using inferential statistics depends on the sampling technique used as well as the
characteristics of the population data. This dependency does assume that the sample and population
meet certain criteria. The criteria is called statistical assumptions, and if there are violations of
these statistical assumptions that are not addressed, than the data may not be interpreted correctly.
In particular, Type I or Type II errors may be increased or decreased incorrectly. Nimon s (2012)
article focused on assumptions associated with substantive statistical analyses across the ... Show

Using unreliable data may cause underestimation which increase the probability of Type II
errors. If there is correlated error, we may see unreliable data to be overestimated which would
increase the risk of Type I errors. To satisfy the assumption of error free data, researchers may
conduct and report analyses using latent variables as opposed to observed variables. This technique
is called structural equation modeling (SEM). This is where latent variables are formed from item
scores, the former of which becomes the unit analyzed. It is important to note that SEM is a large
sample technique. A researcher can also delete a few items to raise the reliability of an observed
score, but this should be reported along with the accompanied estimated of the reliability with and
without the deleted items. Some researchers consider measurement to be an assumption while
others do not. Nimon (2012) does state because measurement levels play such a pivotal role in
statistical analyses decision trees, it would not be recommended to lower the measurement level of
data unless certain characteristics are met. This may discard important information and may
produce misleading or erroneous information. Yet another assumption, is the assumption that
inferential statistics in psychological and educational research produce population data that is
normally distributed. This does depend on the analysis conducted, such as univariate, multivariate,

Social And Cultural Context Of Psychology
Katja Gavrilina
Define the term Psychology and discuss its history in light of social and cultural context,
highlighting the significance of different perspectives in Psychology.
Psychology is defined as the scientific study of mental processes and human behaviour. It had
roots in philosophy and physiology, before becoming an independent scientific discipline in the
late 1800 s. Descartes (1641) suggested that the mind and the body work separately, together
creating the human experience (Mastin L. 2008). This idea of so called dualism shaped a number
of on going discussions in modern psychology, such as the nature nurture debate. In 1879 the first
experimental laboratory was founded by Wilhelm Wundt, in Leipzig, Germany. This fundamental
moment is referred to as the birth of Psychology.
Until the 1900 s psychologists mainly studied the conscious human experience. Sigmund Freud,
Austrian physician, caused a ground breaking shift in this field (1890 s 1930 s). He brought special
importance to the unconscious mind, arguing that early childhood experiences and unconscious
urges shape our adult personality. He emphasized the importance of sex and stages of early
development. Contributing psychoanalysis in the 20th century, Freud had an enormous impact on
the field of Psychology. His theory is unscientific and based on his individual cases, which makes
it hard to generalize his assumptions. Freud s work was also criticized by feminist Karen Horney,

EU ASEAN Dialogue relations
Executive Summary
The European Union (EU) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), as two of the
most important regional organizations, have been interacting with each other on the economic,
political and cultural levels for more than four decades. In the 21st century, Asia has become the
most dynamic region in the global economy today. What is more, its regional security and stability
has grabbed increasing global attention as well.
From the EU perspective, after the financial crisis, economy in Europe has not fully recovered
yet. For EU, cooperating with Asia in economic sector is even more important since the latter has
world s largest population that buys almost a quarter of EU exports. Besides, EU has a strategic
interest in regional security in Asia. For example, the EU s interests would be hurt by tensions on
the Korea Peninsula or across the Taiwan Straits. Thirdly, nowadays, the US and Russia even other
emerging powers have further deepened their economic and political relationship with South East
Asia. Under this circumstances, the EU should speed up its pace strengthen its political and
economic presence across the region through comprehensive cooperation lest it would be
marginalized by both Asia and the US in the near future.
But in Asia, who is the most important partner of the EU? Except for China and Japan, ASEANis
playing an increasingly important role in regional geopolitics and is proving to be a force for

Archetypes Of The Odyssey
Archetypes of The Odyssey
Ancient Greece was full of mystery. They told of mystical, almost supernatural, heroes and

almost a decade, Odysseus set off on a long journey towards home. Through thick and thin, and
through all of the bloodshed and fighting, he finally has a happy ending at home. At what cost

everyone has heard of Homer s legendary, greek epic poem The Odyssey. Many people study for

Padre Antonio Vieira
Padre Antonio Vieira became a missionary priest and returned to Brazil in 1652, with very
complex messages about slavery. His teachings could be interpreted as being against the
Christian religion, but they raised a lot of questions about the slavery of the New World and
whether or not the God s name was being used in vain. During his two sermons in Bahia and Sao
Luis do Maranhao, he used his own beliefs of universal church to convert non Christians to the
faith. He uses the Bible, as his reference and his faith in God, as his guide to show that the settlers
should treat the natives fairly and humanly. Vieira insisted on two main slaveries, that of the body
and soul, and emphasizes that there is no forgiveness for selling your soul. Most... Show more

Furthermore, the masters can use only the slaves bodies as their service, but not their souls,
most noble part of you, the soul, and in everything that belongs to it, you are not enslaved but
free (Page 222). Most importantly, Vieira states that the soul of a person can also be enslaved,
but it is only done through free will. Just like Adam and Eve did not obey God s command not to
eat the forbidden fruit, which caused the sale of the first two souls. Vieira refers to everybody
equally, slaves and masters, showing that we are all sinners because we can easily sell our souls to
the Devil. He criticizes the settlers for being foolish and weak, who would do anything for gold. He
mentions that the slaves are abused by not being allowed in churches or to marry one another, even
though they convert to Christianity, but most importantly they are forced to live in sin.
I wish your thinking were as worthy of your Christianity as it is of your logic: Let service to me
prevail over service to God. As long as my slaves serve me better, let them live and die in the
service of the Devil !
Vieira encourages the slaves not to sell their souls even if it costs them their lives, because if their
masters want something against their will, they have the right not to obey. The essential idea is
that there is no forgiveness for selling your soul to the Devil, which will lead to one s own
perdition in Hell for eternity.

How Does Polonius Commit Suicide 1.)After Hamlet murders Polonius, a series of events begin to unfold; due to his actions, Claudius sends Hamlet to England because he fears that Hamlet will kill him next. Claudius sends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to England as well to ensure that the English will accidentally murder Hamlet. Along with this, the death of Poloniuscauses Ophelia to lose her mind and ultimately leads to her committing suicide. 2.)During his speech in the beginning of Scene 3, Claudius conveys how he is conflicted on whether or not to kill Hamlet. He remarks how Hamlet is loved of the distracted multitude (IV.iii.4) to describe how the people of Denmark admire Hamlet, which explains why it would be difficult to kill him without it backfiring. 3.)Although ... People all over the world wanted to fly on them, until the well known zeppelin called the Hindenburg went up in flames. Today, there are companies that are trying to bring back the airships that are safer for the world to use. There are many reasons that zeppelins or airships could be very popular again. One reason they could be popular again is because they are safe and good fro the environment. Modern day airships would use helium, a nonflammable gas, instead of Hydrogen, the very flammable hydrogen. Helium is environment friendly, unlike hydrogen, which was used in the 1930 s zeppelins. This is not a surprise, actually, because night time means that people go to pubs or clubs. Consequently, the desire to consume alcohol and nicotine is much higher and is less resistible. Researchers who conducted the same studies, created a parallel between the alcohol abuse as well as mental disorders with the novelty seeking. Novelty seeking, according to Wikipedia, is a personality trait associated with exploratory activity in response to novel stimulation, impulsive decision making, extravagance in approach to reward cues, and quick loss of temper and avoidance of frustration. The same research showed that larks tend to be more proactive, agreeable and stable than owls. Besides, larks are less like to be procrastinators. The study conducted by a researcher named Joseph Ferrari showed that larks procrastinate less because they don t leave all the tasks till night. Owls, on the contrary, do this and such a habit may lead to job troubles. Summary Of Toxic Charity By Robert Lupton Robert Lupton (2011) clearly states his thesis in the opening line of his book; What Americans avoid facing is that while we are very generous in charitable giving, much of that money is either wasted or actually harms the people it is targeted to help (pg. 1). • 22. Descriptive Essay On The Getty Museum Driving down the 405 freeway will now be a different experience for myself. Prior to the weekend of June 11, 2017, The Getty Museum was always a mystery. There are a several things I really enjoyed about the museum. It was surprising to learn the Getty Center is free for everyone that attends. When arriving we of course had to pay for parking, which was fifteen dollars for an all day parking pass. With the parking pass, the museum allows you to leave and return once within the same day. This is ideal for those who rather get food off the museum s property. When arriving at the museum we rode on a six minute tram ride. The tram ride was included in the price of parking. Walking up to the museum s entrance was an experience of its own. The architecture was entertaining. There were several areas that grabbed the viewers attention. After speaking to a museum employee, I was able to notice different areas with in the museum. The architect used large pooped out stones to grab the viewers attention. These pooped out stones provide a path to view points with in the museum. For example; one pooped out stone showed a view of the Central Garden, another lead us to a view of Los Angeles. The views were beautiful from the guided points. The museum was broke up into different pavilions. Each pavilion had a different theme, it was very easy to locate each pavilion and artwork within the building. One pavilion had a Changing Exhibition. While visiting the theme of the West Pavilion was The Lure of Italy: Artist Views. I soon realized all areas of the museum change to help protect the art on display. Areas of the Getty Museum included several painting galleries, sculpture, decorative art galleries, architecture, gardens and of course the changing exhibits. While walking through the buildings it was fascinating to see all the different styles of art on display. Artists all have their own techniques when creating their expression of what they see. Many paintings dated back to the 1700 s and seemed to have very little cracks or signs of age within the paintings. While experiencing the painting galleries, I was hopeful to find a painting by both Vincent van Goghand Claude Monet. To my surprise the museum had one piece by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Motif Of Chaos Essay According to the Webster dictionary , a motif is a dominant idea or literary feature. In the days of mythological writing, it was not uncommon for many cultures to include similar ideas or morals. These motifs are three of the main motifs that drew my attention: the motif of chaos, the reason for more than one god, and why humans were put on earth. Motif #1: An Explanation for Chaos There are many obvious motifs included in all the myths discussed. One of the main motifs used in multiple myths was the explanation for chaos. Many cultures believed that the chaos the gods put upon the people was retaliation of the actions. For one god to have to manage the world and care for its people would be a massive amount of responsibility. As a result, many cultures had multiple creators. Inclusion to this motif would be that these cultures thought that having multiple gods or leaders in charge would have a better outcome. The cultures that believed in having shared responsibility were the Incas, the Mayans, and the Maoriall. In the Inca creation myth, Pachacamac created his wife to help him rule the world. In the Mayan creation myth, Tepeu and Gucumatz shared the responsibility of caring for the earth and its people. In the Maori creation myth, Te PЕЌ came from Te Kore to help care for the earth. Motif #3: Why humans were put on earth In most creation myths, humans were created to care for earth. It is my opinion that so many cultures had humans created to care for the earth so that earth could function. Humans were created to Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. Since she was so young when writing the novel, it is interesting to ask for her ideas and the source of inspiration for the content of her story. In literary studies, Roland Barthes theory says that the author and so his or her life should not be the reference point for an analysis (Jannidis et al. 182). Shelley s stepmother did not want the children to be highly educated due to her own only average education. Shelley probably educated herself through reading a lot and the comings and goings of such rare personalities as Lamb and Coleridge to the house (Sparks 13). This might serve as an argument why books and reading are often mentioned in Frankenstein. Education is also important for Victor Frankenstein. He studies in Germany and becomes a scientist with deep knowledge in this area. Not only for Victor, education also plays a major role for other characters. For example, Elizabeth is sad because she [has] not the same opportunities of enlarging her experience, and cultivating her understanding (Shelley 106) when Victor leaves to visit France, the Netherlands, Scotland and England. So even for a woman, knowledge was desirable. Due to the lack of a high education, it might be that Shelley was not able to speak any foreign languages. She might come to terms with it and the probable wish to speak other languages through the detailed description of the acquisition of a language (Shelley 74 79). In conclusion, one can see that education played a key role in Shelley s life even if she was not allowed to take part in it as much as she would have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Evolutionists tend to say that the debate between creationism and evolution is about the Bible versus science. In reality, the debate is about good science versus bad science. Thanks to the ongoing debate between creationismand evolution, people have continued to explore different areas of science to develop a greater understanding of how we came to exist. Currently, Eskimos have normal skin and wear coats to keep warm, while people who live in the tropics have darker skin. Homelessness is the situation in which individuals are unable to attain a permanent and adequate quality of shelter. Shelter is a human right as stated under article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which specifies Housing as part of the standard of living required for an individual to maintain their wellbeing. Australia s law specifies no legal right to shelter, however as a party of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), the Australian government must recognise that all individuals should be entitled to an adequate standard of living for themself and their family , where one criteria is adequate housing as stated in article 11. The Importance Of Ethical Dilemmas In Nursing Becoming a nurse includes responsibilities ranging from safe patient care to handling laws and ethical dilemmas that can happen within that patient care. One thing that falls under these responsibilities for a nurse is the mandatory reporting law. Nurses are mandated to report any suspicion of abuse following facility policy (Henry, et al., 2016). This includes clients ranging from children to vulnerable persons, such as older and dependent adults. The time frame for reporting abuse is within 30 days of the occurrence. The health departments have many tasks to ensure after reports of communicable diseases. A correct treatment plan needs to be in place. • 40. Paradox And Personification In The Hollow Man Paradox and personification are two literary devices often used in literature. These literary devices help poets convey certain meaning through their writing. This essay analyses the poems The Hollow Men by T.S. Elliot and Death Be Not Proud by John Donne. These two poems were chosen because of their use of literary devicesand the manner in which they were able to communicate a deeper meaning. The essay analyses the poems by examining their use of paradox and personification as well how the devices impact the poem. T.S. Elliot and John Donne use paradox and personification in their poems. A paradox is a statement that seems to be false but upon further examination proves to be true. Personification is the action giving a nonhuman object or idea human characteristics. The use of a paradox in the poem The Hollow Men by T.S. Elliot helps convey the mood of the poem by communicating to the reader a more profound meaning. The use of literary device in Death Be Not Proud by John Donne also helps express the mood of the poem. It does so through the use of a literary personification. In poetry, paradox and personification can be used to convey the mood of a poem. The poem The Hollow Men by T.S. Elliot uses paradox to convey the mood of the poem. The poem The Hollow Men is about men who are standing in a field, describing what the afterlife is like. This state of senselessness that the men are in creates a dull mood. It creates a mood of emotional void. This mood is conveyed through paradox. In the poem, T.S. Elliot writes shape without form (line 11). This is used to describe the hollow men and creates a paradox because having a shape means you have a form, one cannot exist without the other. This is unless, it is thought of from a different point of view. In art a shape is two dimensional while form is three dimensional. When T.S. Elliot writes shape without form (line 11) it is not referring to the physical appearance of the men but rather their lack of depth. It is referring to the men s flat personality. Similarly the line shade without color (line 11) is used to convey the mood of the poem. This line from the poem creates a paradox because a shade is a variation of a color, this means that a ... Therefor I am researching the how do gay and straight Latinos construct their masculinity? Straight men deem anything feminine as less than, thus gay men are ousted. This ousting of gay men is a byproduct of heterosexism in which a men only date women and vice versa, thus gay men are seen as effeminate for the sole reason of dating other men. In an attempt to reclaim their lost masculinity gay men are rejecting effeminate men in an attempt to be seen as one of the good gays . The traits of reclaiming what gay Latinos feel is lost is strongly tied to femiphobia, internalized homophobia, and toxic masculinity. Edward Stanley Most people are aware that exercising will benefit the muscles and help them to get to the desired weight they wish for. When exercising comes to the mind its usually because people want to be healthier and stronger, but my question is what is stopping most people from partaking in exercise. The reason that the kids are falling away from everyday activity is because the adults are doing the same. The percentage of adults who participate in only thirty minutes of physical activity every day is below five percent. Out of every three adults, only one receives the amount of exercise recommended per week. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the amount of people in America that are not achieving the suggested levels of physical activity are sixty percent. Having this many adults and kids inactive is dangerous and needs to stop now. Roughly eighty million people is far too many to be inactive and if we continue to go the rout that the people of this country are going then the numbers say that by year two thousand and thirty at least half of the adults of America will be obese. That is an astounding number to process because what that is saying is that if we continue to live the way we do than half of Americans will be obese in thirteen years. . If we as humans care about individual health then these numbers should be enough to motivate anyone to find the time to partake in exercise. Essay 3 The question of whether or not Congress has the power to force people to buy health insurance has been highly advocated by the supporters, and highly scrutinized by the opposition. The constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 has thus been defended on both sides. Advocates argues why it is constitutional by providing reason and benefits of the Act, and the opposition argues why it is not constitutional by providing reason, and stating the drawbacks of the Act. The debate about the Constitutionality of the Act boils down to whether has Congress violated its powers as outlined in Article I of the Constitution. Article I gives three main powers to Congress, and those were restated by the Supreme Court in Perez v. United States. Firstly, Congress can regulate the channels of interstate commerce. Secondly, Congress has the authority to regulate and protect the instrumentalities of interstate commerce and persons or things in interstate commerce. Thirdly, Congress has the power to regulate activities that substantially affect interstate commerce. However, the last step is at interest regarding this topic because it draws attention towards the participation/non participation about the Affordable Care Act that could potentially affect interstate commerce. This is concerning because although the local activities implied in the third power do not directly participate in interstate commerce, all local activities within the U.S ... Her defeat proved fortuitous politically because Sterling, rather than she, was blamed by the voters when Texas began to feel the full impact of the Great Depression. In February 1932 she again declared for the governorship; she promised to lower taxes and cut state expenditures, and condemned alleged waste, graft, and political favoritism by the Sterling controlled highway commission. After leading Sterling in the May primary by over one hundred thousand votes, Ma Ferguson barely won the Democratic nomination in the August primary. She then defeated the Republican nominee, Orville Bullington, in November to secure her 2nd term as governor. Her second administration did not engender as much controversy as the first, despite dire predictions to the contrary by her political opponents. The fiscally conservative governor held the line on state expenditures and even advocated a state sales tax and corporate income tax, although the state legislature did not act on these proposals. Many doctors suffer from fatigue or overcrowded emergency rooms, some feel the effects and others do not but we still need to allow others to double or triple check decisions as much as possible for the well being of the patient. This dependency does assume that the sample and population meet certain criteria. The criteria is called statistical assumptions, and if there are violations of these statistical assumptions that are not addressed, than the data may not be interpreted correctly. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using unreliable data may cause underestimation which increase the probability of Type II errors. If there is correlated error, we may see unreliable data to be overestimated which would increase the risk of Type I errors. To satisfy the assumption of error free data, researchers may conduct and report analyses using latent variables as opposed to observed variables. This technique is called structural equation modeling (SEM). This is where latent variables are formed from item scores, the former of which becomes the unit analyzed. It is important to note that SEM is a large sample technique. A researcher can also delete a few items to raise the reliability of an observed score, but this should be reported along with the accompanied estimated of the reliability with and without the deleted items. • 53. Social And Cultural Context Of Psychology Katja Gavrilina Define the term Psychology and discuss its history in light of social and cultural context, highlighting the significance of different perspectives in Psychology. Psychology is defined as the scientific study of mental processes and human behaviour. It had roots in philosophy and physiology, before becoming an independent scientific discipline in the late 1800 s. Descartes (1641) suggested that the mind and the body work separately, together creating the human experience (Mastin L. 2008). This idea of so called dualism shaped a number of on going discussions in modern psychology, such as the nature nurture debate. In 1879 the first experimental laboratory was founded by Wilhelm Wundt, in Leipzig, Germany. This fundamental moment is referred to as the birth of Psychology. Until the 1900 s psychologists mainly studied the conscious human experience. Sigmund Freud, Austrian physician, caused a ground breaking shift in this field (1890 s 1930 s). He brought special importance to the unconscious mind, arguing that early childhood experiences and unconscious urges shape our adult personality. He emphasized the importance of sex and stages of early development. Contributing psychoanalysis in the 20th century, Freud had an enormous impact on the field of Psychology. His theory is unscientific and based on his individual cases, which makes it hard to generalize his assumptions. Freud s work was also criticized by feminist Karen Horney, ... During his two sermons in Bahia and Sao Luis do Maranhao, he used his own beliefs of universal church to convert non Christians to the faith. Just like Adam and Eve did not obey God s command not to eat the forbidden fruit, which caused the sale of the first two souls. Vieira refers to everybody equally, slaves and masters, showing that we are all sinners because we can easily sell our souls to the Devil. Vieira encourages the slaves not to sell their souls even if it costs them their lives, because if their masters want something against their will, they have the right not to obey.
