The Importance Of The Kumbh Mela
The Kumbh Mela is a diverse pilgrimage of the Hindu faith. A ritual is something which occurs on
the daily for many people. It can be religious, secular or just something which is done regularly.
Rituals no matter what they are, create a connection to something which allows emotion for the
adherant. This multimodal is solely focused on the Hindu pilgrimage, Kumbh Mela, the purpose it
offers to adherants, the key beliefs and religious identity that connect adherants to it, lived
experiences of past attendees and formal teachings. The Kumbh Mela pilgrimage is significant to
adherants as it plays an important role in the Hindu faith and it influences adherents with religious
traditions by assisting them to transition into living out the core values / traditions thoroughly. The
Kumbh Mela is a pilgrimage which offers many rituals to religiously or spiritually inclined and non
religiously inclined individuals, while maintaining the lived experiences for some. There are many
reasons why adherants attend the Kumbh mela. The main reason is to cleanse their's and their
ancestors past sins. They do this by bathing in the river ganges. The Kumbh Mela occurs once every
12 years in Ujjain, India. It is the largest spiritual and religious gathering in the world with usually
between 80 – 120 million attendees. The pilgrimage runs for 55 days and there are different bathing
times for certain 'groups' of people. Once the adherant has bathed in the river ganges, they have

My Experience In Counselling
My first experience with counselling was when I was roughly 17 years old. Back then I was a
part of the people who believed in the myths surrounding counselling, back then it was my last
option but I can still look back and say that I took that decision on my own and I was prepared to
face resistance which I did, in the form of my parents who thought that it was an option for people
who had gone 'mad'. Overcoming these resistances I finally went ahead for counselling and to my
absolute disappointment, the session was useless and at times even offensive to me. The counsellor
asked me my age and started telling a long list of problems I may be facing. She didn't stop there
and then asked me about my weight and any problems that I may be having...show more content...
The first of which are issues that are personal to me, I realise that there are experiences in my past
that may hinder me as a counsellor the most important of which is my inability to maintain eye
contact with another person which wasn't an issue in the past years but in the counselling session
might convey a very negative impression to the client for they may interpret it as my disinterest.
This issue has prompted me to go to personal therapy and also has increased the relevance and
importance of personal therapy in my eyes. Through this experience I have also realised how
unresolved issues in the past can impact the counselling process with or without you being aware
about them. There are many areas that I need to work on expect this and the major among them is
my competence as a counsellor, I still need to develop various professional skills that I will be
required to employ in the counselling session and that is something I believe I will gain from my
course. The most important thing that believe I need to work on are my own beliefs about
counselling, for a long time I didn't realise that despite being trained for becoming a counsellor I
never realised that even to me counselling seemed appropriate as the last option, a choice you
make when all else fails and also that with time things will eventually get better and you don't
need therapy to work through it. Both of these beliefs seem wrong to be now that I have gained
more objective knowledge of counselling. Firstly, to keep counselling as a last resort the person is
embracing a very likely possibility that things would get worse then on rather than better and if
proper therapy is undertaken at the very beginning of a problem it will improve things for the
individual for definite and may also be more effective and efficient in comparison to if you let it
blow to proportion that may severely

Kumbh Mela
Kumbh Mela: The Greatest Show on Earth is a BBC documentary created in 2013. The
documentary was directed by Faris Kermani and its plot revolves around the traditions, beliefs,
and philosophies of Hindus who are participating in a mass pilgrimage to bathe in the Ganges
river. Their pilgrimage is called Kumbh Mela and is regarded as "The Greatest Show on Earth".
Throughout the documentary, Hindus of various backgrounds are interviewed to gain a first person
perspective. Each individual speaks on why Kumbh Mela is important to them specifically and
their own personal opinions on the gathering. The way the documentary was filmed, various people
are focused on to establish a sense of common Hindu values and cultural perspective. The wide
range of opinions shared about Kumbh Mela allows the audience to see an objective yet authentic
view of the pilgrimage. One specific way in which my understanding of the Hindu beliefs and
practices discussed in the Hinduism Revealing World Religions was expanded is at the 23 minute
mark when the extreme lengths some Hindus take the renunciation phase of life to was discussed. In
our coursework, the basic outline of renunciation is set, but to visualize and hear what that phase
looks like greatly expanded my understanding. The Hindus wearing no clothing and covering
themselves in ash to...show more content...
The beginning of the joyous celebration was brought to life by the visual and allowed me to better
understand why the pilgrimage takes place. The idea behind the bathing in the sacred river is to
cleanse the body of all sins which is something that was outlined in our Revealing World Religions,
but is better illustrated by a visual and auditory

The Moral Compass Essay
The moral compass Essay Introduction According to the definition of the Moral Compass text, moral
compass is the reflective, international adoption of values and behaviors as a framework for
realizing the good in oneself, in others, and in the social and material environment. My own moral
compass is constructed mainly by my parents and the eastern social values and principles of
relationships, which are largely influenced by the thoughts and ideas of Buddhism, Taoism and the
Confucianism. Among them, Confucianism affects my country's social values and furthermore my
parents and my moral compass the most. In the contrast of Western culture, Confucianism puts a
huge emphasis on the relationships between individuals in family, school,...show more content...
Moral Fitness My moral code and the belief of human nature evil leads me to cultivate the
knowledge and the competences of myself. I believe it is my own responsibilities to be sensitive
about the interaction between people and learn how to protect myself from being hurt by others,
regardless intentionally or unintentionally. Therefore, I will make observations of people and the
environments, to always best understand what situation I am and try to set up some prevention
measurements to set myself from falling into a bad situation. Also, I will try to grow myself to
be more intelligent and stronger. And the most important thing is, I will never try to do harms to
people because I can simultaneously be more sensitive to know whether if there is any harm to
others by the measurements I am about to take. Defining the Moment Talking about the defining
moment of personal moral challenge, I had one experience facing challenge related to my moral
code before. While I was at my elementary school, I was kind of person that trusted everyone
without any other thoughts. I just simply believed what other said to me, and was not dare or
dislike to reject other's request. Once there was a classmate and also friend of mine tried to
borrow some money from me. He said that his mom was having some financial problems and he
and his sister were in bad condition. I knew that his family was a single family and I therefore went

The Most Memorable Meal Essay
The Most Memorable Meal
As a food lover and adventurous eater, I've certainly eaten so many kinds of food from many
countries around the world. And I have a lot of good and bad moments related to food. However,
when you ask me about the most memorable meal that I have eaten in my life, perhaps the first thing
that appears in my mind is my daddy's soup.
It was 10 years ago, when I was just a little boy. At that time, my mom had so much work at her
office and she just couldn't come back home until 9 p.m. In my family, my mom was the only one
who could prepare food and cook. So when she called my dad and said that she couldn't come back
home early to cook a meal for me and my father, we thought that we were having the biggest problem

And I was so surprised about my dad's soup. All my thoughts about a great meal were taken down.
The soup was not as delicious as it looked, it tasted so weird: at first, I felt it so salty, after a while,
it tasted so spicy. After tasting the first sip, I looked at my dad and smiled. He just thought that he
was successful with his soup until he tried his first sip. Then he knew how his soup was and he
said "Sorry son, I tried my best, maybe we can wait for mom to come back home and cook dinner
for us." As soon as he finished speaking, I took the spoon, continued eating the soup and smiled. I
know the soup was not good, but it was from my dad, from all his love for me. I don't know if my
dad knew what I was thinking or not, or maybe he thought that I was so hungry to eat everything
even though it tasted too bad. My dad was so surprised about my act for a while, and he continued
to eat the soup with me. We both had a great time together, eating and talking with each other
about bad things, good things at work and school. After that, my mom finally came home. She
looked so tired from her work, but she still smiled and looked at me and my dad while both of us
were eating soup. She surely knew my dad made something for me and she slowly went forward to
the table and started tasting the soup. After her tasting, not a single word, she hugged both of us
with her slender arms and also with all her heart. This

Meditation Essay
Meditation is an age–old practice that has renewed itself in many different cultures and times.
Despite its age, however, there remains a mystery and some ambiguity as to what it is, or even how
one performs it. The practice and tradition of meditation dates back thousands of years having
appeared in many eastern traditions. Meditation's ancient roots cloud its origins from being
attributed to a sole inventor or religion, though Bon, Hindu, Shinto, Dao, and later, Buddhism are
responsible for its development. Its practice has permeated almost all major world religions, but
under different names. It has become a practice without borders, influencing millions with its
tranquil and healing effects.
Western medicine has recently...show more content...
Regardless of a new capitalism, which has erupted around meditation, the practice has provided a
mental oasis to millions of people strained and made anxious by the stresses of modern life.
Meditation is the practice of "bringing the mind home . . . meant to awaken in us the sky–like nature
of the mind, and to introduce us to that which we really are, our unchanging pure awareness, which
underlies the whole of life and death." (Rinpoche, 2002). Its goal is to relieve the suffering of the
mind and lead its practitioners to the enlightenment found by Siddhartha Guatama or the Buddha
while he sat beneath the Bodi tree. The mind's home in meditation is a clear, lucid, unaltered state in
which the fragmented frames of thought that usually circulates in the untrained mind are set aside
and forced out. A mind free of worry and apprehension is at peace and free of suffering. A number
of physical and mental exercises are used to bring the mind to this lucid state of natural existence.
The four objects of consideration and awareness when meditating are the body, feelings, state of the
mind, and the mind's contents.
Body positioning during meditation has practical and traditional roots. The posture assumed during
meditation resembles the crossed leg position of the Buddha. Although there are many variations of
posture and hand placement, they all attempt to create and emphasize the connection

A Multicultural Self Assessment That I
Journal: Multicultural Awareness Below, I will discuss the results of a multicultural self–assessment
that I took. I will describe a time in which I felt "other". I will then proceed to explain my personal
feelings regarding each. I will discuss a course of action I plan to take as a result of the multicultural
assessment. I will develop a counseling identity statement. Finally, I will explain why multicultural
awareness and cultural competency are important in the field of counseling. Multicultural
Self–Assessment Taking the multicultural self–assessment provided me with some insight. Most of
my answers were a four or five. However, I did score two number threes. The first question I
ranked myself as a three on was, "When I need assistance I am comfortable asking for it,"
(Petrone, 2004). I am not fully comfortable asking for help. This is something I will work on. The
second question which I ranked three was "People are generally good and I can accept them as
they are," (Petrone, 2004). I agree with the second half, I can accept people for who they are. I am
very nonjudgmental and I try to keep my mind open to all possibilities and situations. However, I
see things that really make me question if people are generally good. Overall, according to the
self–assessment, I was rather well–rounded multiculturally. First Time I Realized I was "Other" The
first time I realized I was other was when I was in high school. I always excelled as a student. During
my senior year, I was

Essay On I Am Malala
The book "I am Malala" tells the story of eleven year old girl that campaigned and fought for
woman's rights and for the Taliban to allow them to go to school. Malala had an extremely tight nit
family bond along with very supportive parents. She always had their support especially from her
father Ziauddin. I believe that if I had a daughter so young that wanted to make such a big
difference in her country I would stand by her one–hundred percent and push her to set out her
dreams. That is exactly what her parents did, they always encouraged her to do whatever she put her
mind to even now in present day.
Malala at age fifteen was shot by a Taliban man, for standing up for woman's rights to go to school.
If I was Malala's parents I would...show more content...
"He even asked friends to throw dried fruits, sweets and coins into my cradle, something we usually
only do for boys." (pg.14) Woman were treated very different from men in Swat but Malala wanted
to put an end to that.
Malala wanted to make a difference in how unequal woman's rights were, and she would go to all
costs to make it happen in her country. Her father said since she was a baby that this child is
special, and she was. If my child wanted to take a stand at eleven for woman's rights I would be
shocked to say the least. I would've brushed it to the side and forgot about it. Malala had a very
strong support base because I would not have let my child of eleven protest which she could have
gotten killed for. Malala was brave, she even said she was not afraid to die. Most would have
been more comfortable if she was "older" and "wiser". Which I think is a common misconception
on young people. More seasoned people think that just because a child is young they cannot have
a big voice or have an opinion on society because they have not experienced as many years on earth
as them. Malala broke the mold and she protested what she felt was right, even though she ended up
getting shot in the face for it. Was it worth it? I think it was worth it.
In conclusion I support the fact that Malala's parents allowed her to fight for woman's rights, and to
stand up for what she believed in. Malala's shooting affected people across the world and she was
even nominated for

Since you cannot think of a Bangladesh without its Shaheed Minar, the National Monument and
Bangla Academy, it has naturally assumed the proportion of a national institution in which every
Bangali loves to take part. Bangla Academy took over organization of the fair in 1978. The
month–long book fair came to be designated Amor Ekushey Grantha Mela in 1984, when Mr
Manzur–I–Mawla was the Directior General of the Bangla Academy. That's the start; now
Ekushey book fair is the largest book fair in Bangladesh. Importance of the fair: Although
Ekushey Boi Mela started merely as a book fair, it has evolved into a national cultural festival
reflecting the cultural spirit of the modern Bengali nation. In addition to book sales, Bangla
Academy organizes literary and cultural events every day. Thousands of people gather everyday not
only to purchase books but to spend time in the company of books and their authors with a patriotic
zeal. There is no entry fee. Publishers of Bangladesh take year–long preparation to publish a huge
number of books during this month. Profit is not the consideration. In 2008, 362 book stalls have
been set up by publishers, book sellers and such other organization including Bangla Academy and
Nazrul Institute. In 2011 the total stall number was more then 411. The venue of the book festival

Essay On Kumbh Mela

  • 1. The Importance Of The Kumbh Mela The Kumbh Mela is a diverse pilgrimage of the Hindu faith. A ritual is something which occurs on the daily for many people. It can be religious, secular or just something which is done regularly. Rituals no matter what they are, create a connection to something which allows emotion for the adherant. This multimodal is solely focused on the Hindu pilgrimage, Kumbh Mela, the purpose it offers to adherants, the key beliefs and religious identity that connect adherants to it, lived experiences of past attendees and formal teachings. The Kumbh Mela pilgrimage is significant to adherants as it plays an important role in the Hindu faith and it influences adherents with religious traditions by assisting them to transition into living out the core values / traditions thoroughly. The Kumbh Mela is a pilgrimage which offers many rituals to religiously or spiritually inclined and non religiously inclined individuals, while maintaining the lived experiences for some. There are many reasons why adherants attend the Kumbh mela. The main reason is to cleanse their's and their ancestors past sins. They do this by bathing in the river ganges. The Kumbh Mela occurs once every 12 years in Ujjain, India. It is the largest spiritual and religious gathering in the world with usually between 80 – 120 million attendees. The pilgrimage runs for 55 days and there are different bathing times for certain 'groups' of people. Once the adherant has bathed in the river ganges, they have cleansed Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Experience In Counselling My first experience with counselling was when I was roughly 17 years old. Back then I was a part of the people who believed in the myths surrounding counselling, back then it was my last option but I can still look back and say that I took that decision on my own and I was prepared to face resistance which I did, in the form of my parents who thought that it was an option for people who had gone 'mad'. Overcoming these resistances I finally went ahead for counselling and to my absolute disappointment, the session was useless and at times even offensive to me. The counsellor asked me my age and started telling a long list of problems I may be facing. She didn't stop there and then asked me about my weight and any problems that I may be having...show more content... The first of which are issues that are personal to me, I realise that there are experiences in my past that may hinder me as a counsellor the most important of which is my inability to maintain eye contact with another person which wasn't an issue in the past years but in the counselling session might convey a very negative impression to the client for they may interpret it as my disinterest. This issue has prompted me to go to personal therapy and also has increased the relevance and importance of personal therapy in my eyes. Through this experience I have also realised how unresolved issues in the past can impact the counselling process with or without you being aware about them. There are many areas that I need to work on expect this and the major among them is my competence as a counsellor, I still need to develop various professional skills that I will be required to employ in the counselling session and that is something I believe I will gain from my course. The most important thing that believe I need to work on are my own beliefs about counselling, for a long time I didn't realise that despite being trained for becoming a counsellor I never realised that even to me counselling seemed appropriate as the last option, a choice you make when all else fails and also that with time things will eventually get better and you don't need therapy to work through it. Both of these beliefs seem wrong to be now that I have gained more objective knowledge of counselling. Firstly, to keep counselling as a last resort the person is embracing a very likely possibility that things would get worse then on rather than better and if proper therapy is undertaken at the very beginning of a problem it will improve things for the individual for definite and may also be more effective and efficient in comparison to if you let it blow to proportion that may severely Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The documentary was directed by Faris Kermani and its plot revolves around the traditions, beliefs, and philosophies of Hindus who are participating in a mass pilgrimage to bathe in the Ganges river. Their pilgrimage is called Kumbh Mela and is regarded as "The Greatest Show on Earth". Throughout the documentary, Hindus of various backgrounds are interviewed to gain a first person perspective. The way the documentary was filmed, various people are focused on to establish a sense of common Hindu values and cultural perspective. The wide range of opinions shared about Kumbh Mela allows the audience to see an objective yet authentic view of the pilgrimage. The Moral Compass Essay The moral compass Essay Introduction According to the definition of the Moral Compass text, moral compass is the reflective, international adoption of values and behaviors as a framework for realizing the good in oneself, in others, and in the social and material environment. My own moral compass is constructed mainly by my parents and the eastern social values and principles of relationships, which are largely influenced by the thoughts and ideas of Buddhism, Taoism and the Confucianism. Among them, Confucianism affects my country's social values and furthermore my parents and my moral compass the most. Moral Fitness My moral code and the belief of human nature evil leads me to cultivate the knowledge and the competences of myself. I believe it is my own responsibilities to be sensitive about the interaction between people and learn how to protect myself from being hurt by others, regardless intentionally or unintentionally. Therefore, I will make observations of people and the environments, to always best understand what situation I am and try to set up some prevention measurements to set myself from falling into a bad situation. Also, I will try to grow myself to be more intelligent and stronger. And the most important thing is, I will never try to do harms to people because I can simultaneously be more sensitive to know whether if there is any harm to others by the measurements I am about to take. Defining the Moment Talking about the defining moment of personal moral challenge, I had one experience facing challenge related to my moral code before. While I was at my elementary school, I was kind of person that trusted everyone without any other thoughts. I just simply believed what other said to me, and was not dare or dislike to reject other's request. Once there was a classmate and also friend of mine tried to borrow some money from me. He said that his mom was having some financial problems and he and his sister were in bad condition. • 7. The Most Memorable Meal Essay The Most Memorable Meal As a food lover and adventurous eater, I've certainly eaten so many kinds of food from many countries around the world. And I have a lot of good and bad moments related to food. However, when you ask me about the most memorable meal that I have eaten in my life, perhaps the first thing that appears in my mind is my daddy's soup. It was 10 years ago, when I was just a little boy. At that time, my mom had so much work at her office and she just couldn't come back home until 9 p.m. In my family, my mom was the only one who could prepare food and cook. So when she called my dad and said that she couldn't come back home early to cook a meal for me and my father, we thought that we were having the biggest problem in...show more content... And I was so surprised about my dad's soup. All my thoughts about a great meal were taken down. The soup was not as delicious as it looked, it tasted so weird: at first, I felt it so salty, after a while, it tasted so spicy. After tasting the first sip, I looked at my dad and smiled. He just thought that he was successful with his soup until he tried his first sip. Then he knew how his soup was and he said "Sorry son, I tried my best, maybe we can wait for mom to come back home and cook dinner for us." As soon as he finished speaking, I took the spoon, continued eating the soup and smiled. I know the soup was not good, but it was from my dad, from all his love for me. I don't know if my dad knew what I was thinking or not, or maybe he thought that I was so hungry to eat everything even though it tasted too bad. My dad was so surprised about my act for a while, and he continued to eat the soup with me. We both had a great time together, eating and talking with each other about bad things, good things at work and school. After that, my mom finally came home. She looked so tired from her work, but she still smiled and looked at me and my dad while both of us were eating soup. She surely knew my dad made something for me and she slowly went forward to the table and started tasting the soup. After her tasting, not a single word, she hugged both of us with her slender arms and also with all her heart. This Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Meditation Essay Meditation is an age–old practice that has renewed itself in many different cultures and times. Despite its age, however, there remains a mystery and some ambiguity as to what it is, or even how one performs it. The practice and tradition of meditation dates back thousands of years having appeared in many eastern traditions. Meditation's ancient roots cloud its origins from being attributed to a sole inventor or religion, though Bon, Hindu, Shinto, Dao, and later, Buddhism are responsible for its development. Its practice has permeated almost all major world religions, but under different names. It has become a practice without borders, influencing millions with its tranquil and healing effects. Western medicine has recently...show more content... Regardless of a new capitalism, which has erupted around meditation, the practice has provided a mental oasis to millions of people strained and made anxious by the stresses of modern life. Meditation is the practice of "bringing the mind home . . . meant to awaken in us the sky–like nature of the mind, and to introduce us to that which we really are, our unchanging pure awareness, which underlies the whole of life and death." (Rinpoche, 2002). Its goal is to relieve the suffering of the mind and lead its practitioners to the enlightenment found by Siddhartha Guatama or the Buddha while he sat beneath the Bodi tree. The mind's home in meditation is a clear, lucid, unaltered state in which the fragmented frames of thought that usually circulates in the untrained mind are set aside and forced out. A mind free of worry and apprehension is at peace and free of suffering. A number of physical and mental exercises are used to bring the mind to this lucid state of natural existence. The four objects of consideration and awareness when meditating are the body, feelings, state of the mind, and the mind's contents. Body positioning during meditation has practical and traditional roots. The posture assumed during meditation resembles the crossed leg position of the Buddha. Although there are many variations of posture and hand placement, they all attempt to create and emphasize the connection Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. A Multicultural Self Assessment That I Journal: Multicultural Awareness Below, I will discuss the results of a multicultural self–assessment that I took. I will describe a time in which I felt "other". I will then proceed to explain my personal feelings regarding each. I will discuss a course of action I plan to take as a result of the multicultural assessment. I will develop a counseling identity statement. Finally, I will explain why multicultural awareness and cultural competency are important in the field of counseling. Multicultural Self–Assessment Taking the multicultural self–assessment provided me with some insight. Most of my answers were a four or five. However, I did score two number threes. The first question I ranked myself as a three on was, "When I need assistance I am comfortable asking for it," (Petrone, 2004). I am not fully comfortable asking for help. This is something I will work on. The second question which I ranked three was "People are generally good and I can accept them as they are," (Petrone, 2004). I agree with the second half, I can accept people for who they are. I am very nonjudgmental and I try to keep my mind open to all possibilities and situations. However, I see things that really make me question if people are generally good. Overall, according to the self–assessment, I was rather well–rounded multiculturally. First Time I Realized I was "Other" The first time I realized I was other was when I was in high school. I always excelled as a student. • 10. Essay On I Am Malala The book "I am Malala" tells the story of eleven year old girl that campaigned and fought for woman's rights and for the Taliban to allow them to go to school. Malala had an extremely tight nit family bond along with very supportive parents. She always had their support especially from her father Ziauddin. I believe that if I had a daughter so young that wanted to make such a big difference in her country I would stand by her one–hundred percent and push her to set out her dreams. That is exactly what her parents did, they always encouraged her to do whatever she put her mind to even now in present day. Malala at age fifteen was shot by a Taliban man, for standing up for woman's rights to go to school. If I was Malala's parents I would...show more content... Malala wanted to make a difference in how unequal woman's rights were, and she would go to all costs to make it happen in her country. Her father said since she was a baby that this child is special, and she was. If my child wanted to take a stand at eleven for woman's rights I would be shocked to say the least. I would've brushed it to the side and forgot about it. Malala had a very strong support base because I would not have let my child of eleven protest which she could have gotten killed for. Malala was brave, she even said she was not afraid to die. Most would have been more comfortable if she was "older" and "wiser". Which I think is a common misconception on young people. More seasoned people think that just because a child is young they cannot have a big voice or have an opinion on society because they have not experienced as many years on earth as them. Malala broke the mold and she protested what she felt was right, even though she ended up getting shot in the face for it. Was it worth it? I think it was worth it. In conclusion I support the fact that Malala's parents allowed her to fight for woman's rights, and to stand up for what she believed in. Since you cannot think of a Bangladesh without its Shaheed Minar, the National Monument and Bangla Academy, it has naturally assumed the proportion of a national institution in which every Bangali loves to take part. Bangla Academy took over organization of the fair in 1978. The month–long book fair came to be designated Amor Ekushey Grantha Mela in 1984, when Mr Manzur–I–Mawla was the Directior General of the Bangla Academy. That's the start; now Ekushey book fair is the largest book fair in Bangladesh. Importance of the fair: Although Ekushey Boi Mela started merely as a book fair, it has evolved into a national cultural festival reflecting the cultural spirit of the modern Bengali nation. In addition to book sales, Bangla Academy organizes literary and cultural events every day. Thousands of people gather everyday not only to purchase books but to spend time in the company of books and their authors with a patriotic zeal. There is no entry fee. Publishers of Bangladesh take year–long preparation to publish a huge number of books during this month. Profit is not the consideration. In 2008, 362 book stalls have been set up by publishers, book sellers and such other organization including Bangla Academy and Nazrul Institute. In 2011 the total stall number was more then 411.
