2. Decision Making at Google
Decision Making at Google Inc.
Data
Google defines itself as a non conventional company which intentionally avoids the traditional
management models. Google has been managed differently in an atmosphere of creativity and
challenge. That said by Eric Schmidt, CEO, who also affirms that the business is driven
according what Peter Drucker understood as a way to manage the knowledge workers in 1959. The
idea was first described in his book The Landmarks of Tomorrow .
We know now that the source of wealth is something specifically human: knowledge. If we apply
knowledge to tasks we already know how to do, we call it productivity . If we apply knowledge to
tasks that are new and different we call it innovation . Only knowledge allows us ... Show more

By principle number 7 Strive to reach consensus ; Google stick on the view that the many are
smarter than the few and solicit a broad base of views before reaching any decision. The role of
the manager is that of an aggregator of viewpoints, not the dictator of decisions.
Principle number 8 is also the corporate slogan: Don t be evil . Schmidt, co founder and CEO says
that the company really tries to live by it, particularly in the ranks of management. Google fosters to
create an atmosphere of tolerance and respect, not a company full of yes men.
Google faces the challenge of evolving management techniques as the company grows. As
decision making pervades all managerial actions and is a continuous process, Google practices
characterize the strategic decision making process of the company. In this new model, the
decision making process is guided by a powerful coalition acting as a team and also permits
decisions to evolve through trial and error and incremental steps as needed, as Daft mentions
(2007, p.299). Daft also affirms that this new process relies less on hard data as a basis of good
decisions. This statement differs from what Goggle practices as mentioned on principle 9.
The 9th principle applies the company knowledge to support decision making: Data drive decisions

manage information not only on the Internet, but internally also. The corporation employs

3. The Natzi Symbol
After reading Maus, one thing that is notable and on the cover is the Natzi symbol. Many of us
have seen this when reading about WWII, but I ve decided to talk about the symbol. It s a huge
stand out and many of us may not fully understand how this symbol was created or what it
translates to. So, without further or do, let s get started! Great Question! This symbol is called
Nationalsozialismus, or in English, National Socialism (also called Nazism). This symbol
represents the Natzi Party and also support for Adolf Hitler, the German leader for WWII, and his
actions against Jews. But is this really what this symbol descended from? Hmm... Although this
symbol is recognized as Adolf Hitler s symbol, this wasn t always seen as a Natzi Symbol.

4. The Marks Of An Educated Man By Richard Butler
An educated person can be described in many ways as to what makes them smarter. In the essay
The Marks of an Educated Man, Butler puts his point across as to what he believes should be the
characteristics for an educated person. The use of one s language must be used very well if he
wants to project himself as an educated man. To show others how smart you are, you need to be
able to speak your language and very well at most. What a person knows is very important but not
in just one field, he must seek to obtain knowledge from other sources and experiences.. Also a
gentle man can be viewed by other as an educated man, not only can having manners benefit you it,

5. The Nature Of God And Morality Essay
The herd, being anxious that the individual should act in its interests, has invented various devices
for causing the individual s interest to be in harmony with hat of the herd. One of these... is
morality (Russell, 17), said by Bertrand Russell and highlights the intentions and efforts of morality.
Moralityarose for the good and the survival of the race, but was it the source of social evolution or
that of a all powerful and good God? This was the source of the debate between christianity and
atheism, or William Craig and Walter Armstrong. The ultimate question was not if you need faith or
God to have ethicsand moral order, but does God need to exist in order for moral order and value
to be established and practiced. Did ethics arise from a God to retain moral order, or was it a
part of social and biological evolution in order to continue to advance and to establish social
order. Throughout the text will explore and distinguish the existence of God and morality
through the arguments three main points in the following: if God does not exist then objective
moral values do not exist, objective moral values do exist, and Therefore God does or does not
exist. The first major point of the argument is: if God does not exist, objective moral values do not
exist. Which could be a valid argument, if you have faith or believe in a God that creates order,
however for those without faith, like Atheist, this argument is invalid. This argument is easily

The literal definition of the word redemption is the act, process, or an instance of redeeming
(forgiven). When I as a human being think of redemption I think of it as a way to accept, forgive
and move on after an instance of extreme, usually emotional, infliction. When we think of this in
terms of prison, humans are put into isolation where they are given ample time to logically think
of these trespasses and how they are paying for it with their lives. At the same time these people
are doing very manual labor while getting paid very little in order to redeem themselves to
hopefully regain some rank again in society. In life where most of us live outside walls redemption
comes in many different forms, although not all as painful.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When I myself am witness to acts of injustice my first reaction is usually anger, frustration which
is then followed by a very vocal complaint. The same reactions come about when I myself am put
under circumstances of injustice and I can only hope, but am not certain, that this is something
regularly occurs with humans in general. I would have to say that some of the factors that
contribute to the ways that I respond to injustice would be feelings that had occurred as a child
when put into unjust situations as well as knowledge that I was given while growing up in both
educational institutions as well as living in general. While I watched the movie Shawshank
Redemption I witness an idea developed mainly by Stephen King that basically gave me hope
by helping me see that due to what I call karma, the people that are exaggerating unjust behavior
will eventually get what is coming to them. This is displayed well by the showing of all the
ignorant behavior put on by the warden and what happened to him in the end. In our society
taking away a persons freedom is considered justice because at this point these people do not have
a choice. The choices that they have made so far have only gotten them into trouble, now they have
given that up and are subjected to be treated basically like a slave. Solitary confinement is

Daily Life
There are a variety of common courtesies that Americans should observe when in Mexico. Some of
the important issues of cultural etiquette are described herein. When in Mexico Americans should
refrain from calling themselves Americans. Mexicans consider themselves Americans too since the
whole continent is called America. Another part of Mexican culturethat may be shocking to
American s traveling there is the way machismo is verbalized by male members of Mexican
society. Making sexual or derogatory remarks at women is a typical part of the culture and should

It is important to greet each member of a group individually. Women will pat each other on the
forearm or shoulder as an initial greeting where men use the handshake in situations where they are
greeting someone for the first time. Handshakes consist of a gentle grip and a quick sharp shake.
After men develop a relationship hugs or back slapping called abrazo replace the handshake.
Women will progress to a series of air kisses on the cheek. Air kissing is also the appropriate
greeting between a man and a woman who know each other. The first kiss is in the air near the
left cheek and the second is in the air near the right cheek. Unmarried women receive an
additional kiss as a wish for marriage. Receiving an abrazo or air kiss is an indicator that you
have been accepted into the group. These traditional Mexican greeting are indicative of gender
characteristics. Females are supposed to act open while men are expected to act closed. Foreigners
should politely accept these greetings from Mexicans but should not initiate a move from one
greeting to the next. This is especially important for an American man who is greeting a Mexican
female. The American man should never initiate the air kisses as it may be interpreted as sexual
advance which damages the women s honor and her partner s machismo. Women are even expected
to initiate a handshake with men. It is important to wait until invited to

9. Chiquita Bananas

Chiquita is blamed for the actions of two terrorist organizations that extorted money from the
company. Victims and their families of the attacks performed by these two terrorist organizations
are looking for compensation from Chiquita, claiming that the company is responsible for making
those attacks happen. Chiquita has to make a decision whether or not to take the responsibility for
the actions performed by the two organizations.

organizations) purportedly threatened Chiquita s executives to hurt employees in the Colombian
plant if the company failed to provide the payments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reasoning behind this is the belief that the money Chiquita paid was indeed used in hurting
those people. The victims and their families have right to demand justice. The question remains, of
who actually should be brought to justice.
Options Analysis
Based on the current situation (company already admitted to paying the money, internal documents
that the money did provide benefits exceeding the protecting of the employees were unveiled, threat
of lawsuits), Chiquita has couple limited options, which are based on justice and duty.
First option is to come out now and take the responsibility for the actions of FARC and AUC. The
law may not be in place yet, but this decision may show that Chiquita is standing by its promise to
protect people affected by its actions. This option definitely addresses the claims of victims and
their families they will get the compensation they are seeking. Chiquita will face multiple lawsuits
and will be harmed financially, which affects shareholders of the company. In this case the
reasoning behind the payments is brought in place whether it was for corporate gain or protection of
employees.
Another option would be to refuse paying compensation to victims of FARC and AUC based on the
fact that Chiquita did nothing directly to harm them. Moreover, they were protecting people by
paying the terrorist. If the law holding the company

10. Jamestown, Virginia, And The United States Of America
Before there were fifty states, there were many different colonies, formed by many different
countries and in different regions. Eventually, the settlements were narrowed down to thirteen
English colonies. These settlements ultimately became the first thirteen states of the United States
of America. This is the story of how they were formed. The first of the thirteen colonieswas
Jamestown, Virginia. Virginia was was the first successful British settlement in the Americas,
colonized in 1607. (Before Jamestown, there was a colony named Roanoke , in what is now
North Carolina. This colony, settled in 1587, was abandoned by 1590, all the colonists having
disappeared without a trace) England crossed the Atlantic to establish a permanent colony, as well
as to search for riches. Though Jamestown did eventually get their wealth, it was not for the reasons
that they originally anticipated. Jamestown was the first colony to start growing tobacco, which
they gained a grand profit from. Jamestown, Virginia was also the first colony to start using slaves,
beginning in 1619. The settlement of Virginia also had another negative impact besides slavery.
When the English first came over from Europe, they brought diseases that the Native Americans
immune systems were not equipped to deal with. This resulted in a large majority of Native
Americans dying off.

In order for Microsoft to become the leader in the console industry, it is critical to know the kind
of consumers that are going to be targeted. According to the Fundamental Marketing article by

demographic, psychographic, and behavioral (Fundamental Marketing 1). The demographic of
Xbox users range from age, generation, and gender. The hardcore gamers age group range from
16 to 30 years old. However, generation plays a huge role in the demographics of the console.

15. A Historical Context That Changed Perspectives
A.Historical context that changed perspectives.
Before 1970 s, many criminological theories focused on the offender and motivations that leads to
criminal acts. Cohen and Felson (1979) proposed a different aspect where they shifted the focus
from offender and motivations to the criminal act itself and opportunities behind it (Andrews, 2004).
One important aspect is that lifestyle theory by Hindelang back in 1978 and the routine activities
theory by Cohen and Felson (1979) are merely the same. Routine activities could be seen as an
expansion of lifestyle theory or as many authors do, as different versions of the same perspective.
That shift of focus had two different explanations of crime along with it. First are historical
explanations, which describe crimes through past events, and the second are situational
explanations, which describe crimes incidents through circumstances. This approach utilized to
describe group differences when it comes to victimization and trends in crime rates. From
sociologists point of view, routine activities theory classifies normal activities and illegal ones and
explains some odd associations between beneficial social change and increasing crime rate. It is
important to know that routine activities theory is against the typical assumption that crime start
from bad things (Osgood, Wilson, O Malley, Bachman, Johnston, 1996).

Lady Chatterley s Lover, written by DH. Lawrence was first published in 1928. The novel
follows around the protagonist of the story, Lady Constance Chatterley. The story is about how
this woman, who is trapped in a loveless and almost sterile marriage, finds emotional and physical
love with the gameskeeper of her husband s estate. As a story about the relationships between
men and women, I find this book a very nice read, but with Lawrence also using this novel as a way
to show his readersthe evilsof machines and capitalism, at times I find it lacking. Lawrence has two
main themes in this book; first, the relationship between men, women and how they find love;

The idea of complete love is shown through Lady Connie and Mellors relationship. Lawrence
shows through these two how love needs to have emotional and physical aspects to be possible.
Writing about their evolving relationship and showing how both aspects are started and evolve,
he gives us the idea of what he thinks real love is. Lawrence shows how their true love and
eventual marriage escapes class lines and the industrial world the author despises. In one of the
more descriptive sex scenes, Lawrence wants to show that two people who are in real love have
no shame. This theme is also used to try and validate Lawrence s second theme in the book,
industry vs. nature. Lady Chatterley s marriage with Clifford is based in the industrial setting of
Wragby mansion. The marriage between these two characters revolves around this setting and is
therefore shown by Lawrence to be a fake marriage since it is not set in a true natural setting. It is
based in an industrial society and therefore corrupt. On the other side, Lady Connie s relationship
with the gameskeeper, Mellors, is started in the natural setting of the woods surrounding Wragby.

Using this relationship assumes that the force constant is constant, or that moving the arms back 2
meters gives twice the force that moving them back 1 meter would do, which is most likely not
correct, but close enough for a general assumption of the force to be made. When the force is
applied, the projectile is accelerated to the end of the ballista, at which point it released with a
velocity v and an angle q from the horizontal. The velocity can be found using the kinematic
equation v2=2ax, where a is the acceleration and x is the length of the ballista that the projectile
is accelerated upon. Since F=ma and F in this case is kd, the equation can be simplified into v2=2
kdx/m. After it is released, the projectile obeys the laws of projectile motion, disregarding air
resistance. Therefore, the range of the ballista can be given by the equation

21. What Is Edgar Hoover s Role In Criminal Justice
Named by Calvin Coolidge as the sixth director of the Bureau of Investigation, J. Edgar Hoover
quickly rose to greatness. In 1935, he was appointed by U. S. Attorney General Stone as the first
director of the newly conceived F.B.I. For the next 36 years he made all of the rules, declared
war on everything he disliked or that opposed his morals and personal beliefs from Bolshevik
radicals to Martin Luther King, he hindered the progress of the civil rights movement, and used
force to eradicate every suspected communist. While he brought about myriad investigative
technology, including fingerprints, wire tapping, and forensics labs that forever changed the
criminal justice system, he also used the F.B.I. to intimidate celebrities and public figures, harass
political activists, and illegally collect secret files of evidence and scandals against everyone. In
truth, Hoover was a malicious and hypocritical man; under the guise of protecting the American
way, his motto was knowledge is power, but after the Great Depression when the world changed, he

Madison, the south central, mid sized city in Wisconsin is defined by its five major lakes, a
beautiful rural side and a lively metropolitan area of about 578,000 (Madison Population 2016).
Madison spills into surrounding suburbs driving locals to express that they are from the Madison
Area. Historically speaking, Madisonwas home to the Winnebago Native American Tribe

1829, a man named James Doty bought surrounding land to pave a grid of streets. He was to make

interesting and becoming more popular for both research and funding purposes. I was curious to
see how the original practice of prostheticswas developed and when they were first used along with
how technological advances throughout time have correlated with developmental advancements in
prosthetics. I was quite surprised after learning that the idea of prosthetic limbs was actually

owing to the poor healing capacity of the nervous system and an aging population contributing to

160 different professionals like scientists, engineers, researchers and many others all with the
hope of creating powerful and adaptive prosthetics. The meetings consisted of making the process
of production and performance more efficient. Materials scientists would kill to be able to
produce a material as amazing as biological muscle, which can retract on command, stretch by
about 70% without damage, and heal its own nicks and tears. Now, researchers say they re getting
closer with a synthetic material that can do all these things, though not as well as natural muscle.

The Classical Periods of China, Greece, and Rome had complex, organized political structures due

In his parable Before the Law, Franz Kafka suggests that obstacles that one faces in life can
either be used to mold one s success or bring about one s failure. If one can overcome challenges
that they face they grow in a unique type of way, for every individual perceives each situation in a
distinct fashion. That unique type of growth is what establishes a person s character and perception
of the world. However if one cannot overcome their obstacles, then they cut of their means for
growth and are left uninspired, forgetting any dreams or aspirations. It is through the man s

In the book Crash Into Me by Liz Seccuro, the audience is taught one of the leading consequence of
alcoholism; rape. Some of the major causes of Alcoholism in college are: availability of
alcohol(Pg. 44), social pressure(Pg. 46), and genetic susceptibility to alcohol. Exploring the
causes of alcoholism helps lead to the conclusion that alcohol is a huge part of college culture
and there needs to be a policy to help prevent alcoholistic incidents (like what happened in Crash
Into Me) from happening. One policy that can help with the problem of alcoholism in college
is; imposing liability to the social host that is responsible for the underaged drinking at the party.
This policy proposes the idea that social hosts are in violation of: furnishing alcohol to a minor,
and allowing underaged drinking to occur on property that they control. Thus leading to the
point that; the social host may be prosecuted by the State under a criminal statute and face a fine
or imprisonment for the criminal violation (Alcohol Policy Information System n.d.). This
policy can be considered neutral because it contains both conservative and liberal aspects. The
policy proposes more of a moral stance on who s responsible for the events that happen at the
party and the results of what the alcohol does to the underaged drinkers after the party. The idea
of this policy is that the social host is responsible(as well as the person who committed the
crime) and receives a fine or imprisonment for the violation of the law. This policy would help
alcoholism in college because the social hosts would be more vigilant about who drinks or does
drugs at a party that takes place on property that they control. For example; a Fraternity decides to
throw a party, the fraternity mother/father would be in charge of knowing who is drinking and
would attempt to imply precautions to avoid a violation of the law that would ultimately have them
face imprisonment

1. Suggest at least one chemical reason why your percent yield is less than 100%. (Incomplete

Incomplete reactions could be a possible chemical reason to why the percent yield is less than

2. SN1 and E1 reactions both involved the initial formation of a carbocation intermediate. In this

The SN1 mechanism leads to substitution products, and the E1 mechanism leads to formation of
alkenes, therefore in this case, it is shown that this mechanism leads to a substitution of products
since the Cl ion is replacing the OH group by the addition of a strong acid (HCl). When the

independently, or in conjunction with each other to provide a more ecological view of the
individual s behavioral functioning (p. 132). There are three Student Rating Scales, a Parent
Rating Scale (home), a Teacher Rating Scale (school), and a Sociogram (peers). The Sociogram is
not really a scale, but provides a classroom based peer nomination procedure. The assessment
should be given to the teacher, the parents, and used to observe Jay during a peer interaction
This assessment was chosen, because each after reviewing the many components of this assessment
it gives information to help find interventions regarding Jay s behavior. For example, the Parent
Rating Scale will help discover underlining issues at home that might contribute to Jay s ongoing
behavior. One of the cons of this assessment is that Spanish version is available, however, it was
normed in Mexico and caution should be applied to interpreting these norms with Spanish speaking
students from the United States. Assistive technology does not play

The History of Arlington begins with George Washington. Custis built the Arlington House to
commemorate George Washington and his wife Martha Dandridge. The land once belonged to
George Washington Parke Custis. In 1831 Mary Randolph Custis married Robert E. Lee. A
property tax on the house caused Lee to leave Arlington. The plantation was set aside for a military
cemetery thus creating Arlington National Cemetery. William Christian was the first military
official to be buried in Arlington in 1864. That same year a man named Montgomery Meig

One show, Twilight Tattoo, is presented weekly during the summer at the White House Ellipse.
The show is free and open to the public. The Old Guard annually participates in more than 6,000
ceremonies, an average of 16 per day. Despite this arduous schedule, The Old Guard continuously
prepares for its security and infantry missions by conducting year round training, culminating in a
rigorous evaluation of unit tactical proficiency. Because of this, all soldiers are as familiar with
traditional infantry or military police duties as they are with ceremonial duties. The Tomb Guard
marches 21 steps down the black mat behind the Tomb, turns, faces east for 21 seconds, turns and
faces north for 21 seconds, then takes 21 steps down the mat and repeats the process. After the turn,
the sentinel executes a sharp shoulder arms movement to place the weapon on the shoulder closest
to the visitors to signify that the sentinel stands between the Tomb and any possible threat. Twenty
one was chosen because it symbolizes the highest military honor that can be bestowed the 21 gun

In this world, there are many kinds of illness and diseases that affect our body in different ways.
Some illness or diseases can kill us while other ones can be treated. For example, Bipolar

For example, at the age of 27, Bennett spoke to her doctor about some depressive mood issues
she was experiencing, for which the doctor prescribed antidepressants. At that point in time, she
was feeling isolated, as she was living in British Columbia while her family was living in
Ontario California. To make herself feel better, she was self medicating by smoking marijuana,
staying up late and generally not taking good care of herself. Bennett s behavior was becoming
increasingly erratic, and her roommates were really concerned. They called her family to let
them know what was going on. So her sister and mother came to visit her in British Columbia
they were hoping to bring her back to Toronto to see if they could get her some help. Because of
Bennett s manic episode, she had convinced herself that the people coming to visit her were not
her family, but clones of them. She was so convinced, she asked a friend to come with her to the
restaurant where they were meeting and bring a video camera to tape it. She thought that she could
use the tape as evidence that someone had cloned her sister and mother and could take that to the
authorities. This concludes that by not having her family she felt the need to do drug and might

42. An Analysis of the Wto Communication
An analysis of the WTO communication
ABSTRACT
Habermas has defined the relationship between public sphere and public opinion as network for
communicating information and points of view . . . the streams of communication are, in the
process, filtered and synthesized in such a way that they coalesce into bundles of topically
specified public opinions. The report, based on Habermas s theory of public sphere and public
opinion, and with the Doha Round of trade talks as a case study, provides an analysis on the
communication strategy of the World Trade Organization(WTO), including the target, content,

In its communication, the WTO disseminates specific messages and information, at the same time
presents its public image. Then I will provide further explanations of the communication forms in
these two circumstances.
4.1 Internal communication
By internal communication, I refer to the communication carried on between the WTO inside and
its members. The WTO internal communication takes place mainly by means of conferences or
meetings of different levels in various specialized working groups, councils and committees.
* Ministerial conference
The governing body of the WTO, responsible for all the decision making, composed of international
trade ministers from all member countries. Meets every two years, and the decisions are generally
taken by consensus (Alana Mann, 2012). * General Council
The WTO s highest level decision making body, meeting regularly to carry out the functions of the
WTO. It has the authority to act on behalf of the ministerial conference. The General Council also
meets, under different rules, as the Dispute Settlement Body (WTO, 2012). * Dispute Settlement
Body Created in the Uruguay Round agreements for resolving trade quarrels and enforcing the
rules and therefore for ensuring that trade flows smoothly (WTO, 2012). * Green Room Refers to
meetings of 20 40 delegations, usually at the level of heads of delegations. These meetings can take

feel that anyone that observes minor children at risk should always get involved regardless of it
being a next door neighbor. Children don t have voices and that s when a mandated reported

44. Legal Abortion Policy Boundaries Of The United States
Legal Abortion Policy Boundaries After the most widely known court case in the United States,
Roe v. Wade (1973), a woman had a right to have a legal abortion during the first trimester of
pregnancy (The National Right to Life Committee, inc., 2014). Legislation decided that States were
able to regulate abortioninto the second trimester, only to reasonable promote the interest of the
women s health. The third trimester was the first time the state was able to say no to protect the life
of the fetus (Arrigo Waldman, 2014).
Since Roe v Wade, there have been major advancements in the maternal fetal world of medicine.
Advanced technology and science have shown us that there is life to a fetus before the last
trimester, leading to many regulations and laws to prohibit abortion for the life the fetus. Discussed
in this paper are the policies, court cases, and executive decisions affecting legal abortion in the US
and the ethical implications that debate them.
Legal Abortion and Roe v. Wadeof 1973
The court case, Roe v. Wade (1973), brought forward the Texas state law to allow on demand
abortions of fetuses for women until the third trimester, when the state recognized the life of the
child (The National Right to Life Committee, inc., 2014) This brought satisfaction to the women
who felt their rights were violated by not being able to choose what they wanted done with their
bodies. Roe v. Wade (1973) made it seem like abortion was the best choice or the only choice when

45. The Golden Age By Aphra Behn
In her poem The Golden Age , Aphra Behn divides nature from civilization, almost in a biblical
sense of Eden and after Eden. Nature and civilization are separated as a positive and negative
experience where love is dishonoured, and sin takes over Earth. Through this before and after
division, Behn shows how the fall of mankind led to the oppression of the femalesex as woman,
associated with love, kept the world pure until man, associated with honour, took over. Thus
creating Pleasure, Nature s worst Disease (148). When Nature is overpowered by civilization,
genderissues arose. This division of gender issues sets women up to be a tease or object of
pleasure rather than an equal lover who is free to her own sexuality. The Golden Age presents the
fall of natural order with the rise of man.
The beginning of the poem is a very peaceful, Blest Age! (1), with Purling Stream[s] (1), an
Eternal Spring (5), and wanton Gods of Love (15). This takes place in the world before the rise
of mankind, much like the biblical Garden of Eden. In this flowery place, nature triumphs with
love. Nature is referred to as a feminine idea, Virgin Earth;/ Who yielded of her own accord her
plenteous Birth (32 33). This can relate to the idea or allusion of Mother Nature, as Earth is
commonly referred to as female. Behn tells the reader how roses, as a symbol for virtuousness,
live in prosperous morning dew. In this peaceful and young world, two lovers are free to all their

47. Analysis Of The Movie Chinatown
Chinatown is a drama/thriller starring Jack Nicholson who played the character of Jake Gittes. The
plot of the story develops around Gittes job as a private investigator, and Gittes researches the
background information of the water system for Los Angeles. Through Gittes investigation, the
sudden death of Mr. Mulwray becomes the main plotline of the story. Ms. Mulwray, the wife hires
Jake Gittes to investigate her husband for infidelity, but through his inspecting, he starts to uncover
the truths within the Los Angeles water system. The characters of the film have a strange
connection with each other, which makes the story rich in depth. This is powerful for the viewer
because the potential of the plotcan be expanded with extraordinary plot twists and character
development. Personally, I thought the Roman Polanski constructed a phenomenal movie, because
of the drama aspect. The conflict was clear thirty minutes into the film, and the direction of the film
perfectly kept the audience glued to the plot of the movie. Chinatown provides effective elements
of drama through intensive detail, and a strong plot; which makes the movie highly entertaining.
Rules of the Game are an important concept to creating a drama, and I enjoyed many of the subtle
details of Chinatown. Polanski directs the film with a noir setting to make his audience carefully
indulge in every aspect of the film. The setting of 1930 s Los Angeles truly intrigued me as viewer,
because the setting felt nostalgic

48. The Super Hero In Fearless By Eric Blehm
When the word hero comes to mind people usually think of some super hero that they read about
in a book or saw in a movie, but the literal definition of a hero is a person who is admired for their
courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Fearless by Eric Blehm contains many
examples of real life heroes. Adam Brown is undoubtedly the main heroin Blehm s novel, but other
members of the Brown familyalso displayed many notable heroic qualities.
The main hero in Fearless was Adam Brown. Adam was born on February 5, 1974, in Hot
Springs, Arkansas. When he was a child, he enjoyed playing football and spending time with his
friends and family. As he grew older, Adam became friends with the wrong crowd, and he began
to make poor life choices. Fearless is the story of how Adam overcame his demons in life and
became an amazing father and a well known hero.
Adam struggled with a drug addiction early in life. Drugs totally destroyed him, and his
relationship with his family. He was no longer the son that Larry and Janice Brown raised. After
Adam met Kelley, he started to make an effort to turn his life around. Adam became a totally
different person. He became someone that the world could admire and look up to.
Many soldiers die every single day, and their story never gets told. The question is what makes
Adam s story so different and worth sharing. It could have something to do with Adam s unique
personality. After he turned his life around, Adam became a

n 56 CNC Drill
What Size orders can be scheduled on CNC Router?
Using the steps used in previous part, calculating the time taken by each method
Time taken for Punch Press =50 + x Time taken for CNC Router = 150+ 0.5x
To figure out whether CNC Router to be used,
50 + x ≥ 150+ 0.5x Hence x ≥ 200. [x= number of circuit boards]
Conclusion for CNC Router:n 200 Use Punch Press
Total no. of Boards (n) n 200 For Use CNC Router
3. Would you recommend adding another CNC drill? Perform a net present value calculation to
help make the decision. Price of the CNC machine is $80,000. The additional assumption we need
to add to assumption already given is that:
Arthur Dief will run all the small orders (8 circuit boards or less) and other boards will be done on
a CNC machine despite of the shop floor policy which states that only orders for more than 100
boards be drilled on a CNC machine.
The company is currently using a CNC machine for orders for equal or greater than 140 boards due
to capacity of a CNC machine; however, they would be able to process all orders with CNC
machines if they add one more machine.
In this case, if we calculate the current cost in drilling process:

50. The Language As A Lingua Franca Of The Business World
English is now the dominant or official language in over 60 countries and is represented in every
continent (Crystal, 1997:106). It can therefore be understood that the English language is a vital
means of communication for millions of people around the world.
English has now become the Lingua Franca of the business world. In the business world, partners
and companies belonging to different nations and cultures conduct operations in either one of the
languages of the involved or in a neutral language, known as the Lingua Franca. Lingua Franca
signifies the common language or the common language for speakers of different first languages
and can also be referred to as the; bridge, working, vehicular or trade language.
The term linguistic imperialism and linguistic relativism are key in understanding a language as a
Lingua Franca. Linguistic imperialism stands for a dominant nation s practice of transferring it s
cultural, social, political and, even, economic features and ideologies by transferring its language to
other nations and according to Phillipson (1992), the dominance of English needs to be asserted
and maintained with continuous reconstruction of cultural inequalities between English and other
languages . Phillipson claims that English achieved its dominant position as the principal world
language because it has been actively promoted as an instrument of foreign policy of the major
English speaking states (Phillipson 1992:1). Linguistic relativism, on

Important Aspects in the Novel In the Lake of The Woods and The Vietnam in Me by Tim O Brien
As most of the people in American spent time thinking about clothing and feeding themselves and
their families, the rarely spend time thinking about philosophical issues. Tim O Brien says that he
jars people to look into important things, meaning that he makes people look into the deeper
meaning of the issues reflected in his novels instead of focusing on the basic issues alone. This
paper will analyze the important aspects that are reflected in the Novel In the Lake of the Woods
and the article The Vietnamin Me by Tim O Brien.
Important Aspects In the Lake of The Woods by Tim O Brien
One of the vital things in this novel is its setting. The major conflict in the story occurs at the
northern west angle of Minnesota. The major characters in the novel, John and Kathy chose this
location because of its isolation. This setting helps in shaping the story because that is where Kathy
disappears, and the rest of the novel shifts attention to her search. Another important element in the
setting of this story is the American political environment. When John enters the race for the Senate
seat, the conflict between him and Kathy emerge as it reduces the interaction of the two. In
addition, his involvement in politics unearths his involvement with Charlie Company which leads
to his dismal failure in politics. As the two continue to relax in the woods, many past events begin
