Introduction to Soccer Essay
Soccer is a popular sport played all over the world. Even though it has only been popular in the
United States for the past 30 years, soccer has been a long time favorite most everywhere else.
The sport dates back to the Egyptians, who played games involving the kicking of a ball. Now, the
sport has grown to a global pastime, including men's and women's teams, and the World Cup (which
is played every four years). Soccer originated with kicking games played by people in ancient
civilizations. The modern version came about in the early nineteenth century, in England. It started
as a game involving kicking and handing, but later this branched off into two separate sports: rugby
and football (which is what the English call soccer). Around...show more content...
In addition to the field itself, all that is needed for a game is two goals (eight feet high and eight
yards apart) and a ball. Each player wears hard plastic or padded shingaurd, covered by long
socks, for protection during play. Cleats are also worn for traction on the field. A goalie may also
wear a special padded shirt, and gloves to protect his or her hands. A standard field, as regulated
by the Federation Internationale de Football Association (or FIFA), has a length between 100 and
130 yards, and a width of between 50 and 100 yards. The rules of play for soccer have deliberately
been kept simple. The referee makes most of the decisions, and attempts to encourage fair play.
The game starts off with a kick off, and the teams are allowed to pass, dribble, juggle, head, kick,
and shoot the ball to place it down the field, and (hopefully, or eventually) into their opponent's
goal. If the ball is kicked off the field over the length of the field, the other team is given a throw–in,
where the ball is thrown over the player's head, and back onto the field. If the ball is kicked over the
goal, or across the width of the field, either a corner kick results (by the offensive team, where the
ball is placed on the corner of the field and kicked into play) or the defensive team is awarded a goal
kick, where the ball is placed on the corner of the goal box, and kicked back into play. If a goal is
scored, the ball is taken back to the center of

Megan – you were our last line of defence and thank goodness you were because I don't know
anybody else who could have made some of the saves you did. You started contributing more to
our team conversations and talking to the team from goal and I'm sure everybody felt it helped
them improve their game at some point. Everybody on the team thanks you for standing in net,
sometimes not getting to touch the ball and freezing your butt off. And even though being in net
may have felt pointless during those games, it allowed everybody in front of you to feel more
comfortable pushing the ball forward and trying new things because they knew if they screwed it
up, you would be there to back them up. You gave our team some confidence and it allowed...show

Players like that always grow to have a head for the game. I can already see you reading plays and
anticipating the ball, and that is a massive skill to have as you continue forward with your soccer
career. You became constant in the starting line up, and that is a challenging thing to accomplish in
your first year. But you showed no sign of letting the pressure get to you and it showed on the field.
Lindsay – we put you here there and everywhere this year and you took it all in stride and just
played your game. I don't think I've ever seen anybody fall that much, but I've also never seen
anybody get up that quickly. You played a major role in the first game we played against holy
trinity. You broke up so many plays that could have developed into goals, and you kept up with
one of the fastest girls on their team like it was nothing. You impressed me this year with your
different range of passing, sometimes you lob it forward for others to run onto, sometimes you
chip it just barely over the head of the opponent, and sometimes you play around with the ball and
freak me out and then still make a great pass. Thank you for playing where we needed you to and
for not questioning our ideas. If you keep going at this rate you will become a very versatile player
that can fill any role a team may need. Sam – holy crap. I didn't know you had a left foot, but I'm
glad you do because without it this last

The Importance Of Soccer
Soccer is a popular sport all over the world and it is most popular in places like Europe and Spain.
The objective of soccer is to score goals by passing the ball down the field into the opposing
team's goal. The objective is to score more goals than your opponent. Soccer is popular all over
the world, but why isn't it popular here in the U.S? Sports like basketball, Football, Baseball, and
Tennis are all popular here in the U.S, yet, soccer doesn't get as much attention. The U.S
international team has qualified for the biggest international tournament, The World Cup, for 32
years in a row. They never won the World cup, but they have been performing really well over the
years. If soccer was more popular here in the U.S, they would have more people wanting to play
the sport, causing them to improve massively as a team. A major reason soccer isn't popular here
is because the U.S only has 1 league to play in. For example, all major countries have over 2–4
leagues so that more teams can play to reach for the top. The U.S has a league called Major
League Soccer, also known as the MLS. Firstly, the MLS only has 22 teams in its league, that is
more than most popular leagues in Europe and Spain! More teams mean more excitement and fans
right? Well not necessarily, The MLS might have more teams than any other league in Europe, but
it is very boring to watch. You might ask, why would it be boring if there's more teams? It is boring
since there is only 1 league, meaning there is

More Than Just a Sport Soccer. When most people think about an "outdoor adventure", this is
probably not the type of sport that pops up in their heads. It is a worldwide sport which requires
practitioners with strong psyche and well trained bodies. Furthermore, a positive attitude,
endurance, and fighting spirit are important characters to show if you want to survive within the
world of soccer. This is not only about a sport; it is about a lifestyle. It is not only about kicking a
ball from one side of a field to another, it is about creating a bond between people. My career as a
soccer player started when I was six years old. It would be a lie to say that it was love at first sight –

I would not say that soccer would solve the world's problems, but it would definitely bring more
happiness to our planet. In year 2006, I traveled to Italy with my family, and at one of the hotels
where we were staying, they coordinated a soccer tournament. My father (who is a real soccer
freak and currently reading a book about soccer strategies), and I decided to join the competition.
We got sorted into the same team and other hotel guest got amazed by how well we played the
sport. At that point, neither of us knew a single word in Italian, but we both had a great time and
we got to meet a group of new friends. When first coming to college, I did not know anyone. I am
born and raised in Sweden, so moving to Florida was extremely nerve–racking. I was not only
thousands of miles away from home, but it was also a six–hour time difference between me and all
of my friends at home. Yet one thing I knew even before my plane landed at Orlando International
Airport, I was going to play for the club soccer team. Entering the field was like entering a safety
zone from the rest of my freshman college experience – it was like coming home. This is how I met
my first friends, and how I later became involved within other clubs and organizations on campus.
Furthermore, I realized that this outdoor sport has given me knowledge and wisdom that I can use
within other areas in life. My cooperation skills have always been good. I

Wrist Wrist Wrist One lovely afternoon I was at my indoor soccer game. I was in an indoor
league with some of my friends and we were tearing every team we played. That day we were
going to play against an academy team, which have very good players.I had arrived about two
minutes before the game. I was pretty late because I had gone to go eat before with my brother.
So because of that I didn't start and I wasn't warmed up either. Nathan, my coach was like "Hey
man did you go sew your clothes?," in a jokingly was because I was late. The game had begun
now and it was already intense. It was back to back If I do say so. The first half was an exciting
one as it was all tied up two to two. I had played about half of the half. Now came the second half,
and later on I went on the pitch. Some kid and I jumped up into the air to win the ball. We both
did, and when I fell down, I guess I landed on my hand the wrong way. I felt a sudden pain on my
hand. My wrist was all jacked up. It was horrendous as I looked down at my hair in shock as It

My Passion Of Soccer
Everyone has that certain thing that makes them who they are. That certain thing for me is
soccer. It's my hobby, my biggest interest, and my passion. Soccer isn't just a sport for me, it's my
life. It has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have played the intriguing game of
soccer since I was four years old, and I have loved it ever since. I am known as a soccer player,
which makes sense because it takes up most of my time, and that's what I'm all about. I've been to
Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Nebraska, and Missouri for soccer tournaments or games. Since the
leagues in the Kansas City area are much more competitive, my family and I spend almost every
weekend there due to games. I've spent countless hours at games and practices, as well as other
workouts and fitness events to better myself as an individual player. I have had to miss other
social events with my friends because of my dedication to soccer. I have even had to miss friday
night football games because of prior soccer commitments, and I love friday night lights. There are
mornings after games and tournaments when I wake up sore, with swollen, black and blue bruises
from cleats or from collisions that happened during games, but I wouldn't give up it up for
anything. Balancing soccer with all other aspects of my life gets a little challenging sometimes.
From school with homework, to all of the extracurricular activities that I am involved in, I rarely
ever have a free night. Between Link Crew,

Why Soccer Is the Best Sport Essay
L.A. essay Why soccer is the best sport By: Omar Soccer is the most played sport worldwide,
many people love it and I'm one of them, it is my favorite sport because you can improve your
skills with your feet, and get a lot of exercise. By writing this essay, I hope that I can provide more
information about the sport and maybe convert the people who dislike the sport into fans. I have
heard from some people that soccer is a boring sport, but the truth is, it's a very interesting sport
with a lot of excitement in it. When playing soccer, ball control is critical, you need possession of
the ball in order to keep it away from the other team players, and at times, it can be fun because if
you have possession of the ball most of the game,...show more content...
If you play soccer, you have to practice in order to win, just like any other sport. When playing a
game, you need to do moves that you have practiced, to get past the other teams defense and score
a goal, and you also have to teach yourself mentally to think before you react. If you have the ball,
you can't just kick it randomly and hope to score, you have to think of your other teammates and
work with them to get the ball up the field. Another part of soccer that is very critical is passing.
You have to pass the ball and develop new techniques and ways to control how the game is played.
The last part is that you need to be fit in order to play soccer, because you are constantly on the field,
and you don't get a lot of breaks, because the game never really stops except for halftime and when a
foul is called or if you are waiting for the ball to come. When you're on defense, and playing a good
team, you can be running around a ton, and you get tired really easily, especially when someone
is on a breakaway, you will have to sprint down the field to try to stop them. If you play soccer a lot
over a long time, you will develop good leg strength. Exercise is critical to the human body, and
you will get a whole bunch of it by playing soccer. I hope this essay encourages parents to in–role
their kids to play soccer because it's an amazing

Why Soccer Is Better Than Other Countries
Waking up early in the morning to go the soccer field and get a whiff of fresh cut grass, paint, and
the unpleasant smell of some soccer socks being put on to be ready for a match. Some people
may have played soccer in their younger days and can understand the enjoyment. Some people
are committed to the sport and others may have played a few years because their parents made
them to. There is nothing wrong with playing soccer, but to know that they were a part of an

There are many competitions and other platforms to watch a decent soccer match. Competitions
like the Champions League, Euros, Copa America, Gold Cup, etc. Many fans tuned in to watch
the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Fans from all over the world tune in to witness the greatest
tournament to be competed at a high level. The entire World Cup reached 3.2 billion viewers, and
the final game had around one million viewers watching live (2014 FIFA World Cup, 2015).
Others enjoy to play the sport as well. People enjoy the game of soccer whether it is playing for
fun or competing in the World Cup. Fans that play want to imitate their favorite players moves.
Children watching the pros work their magic during the World Cup, doing fancy tricks or scoring
crazy goals makes kids go out with a ball and copy what they saw. Players like Ronaldo and Messi
do things that make child look up to them. A study from a survey conducted by FIFA in 2007
found that 265 million people are playing soccer (Kunz, 2007). Players play to sometimes relieve
themselves from a tense situation in the real world. So, as they play, they seem to escape in a
different reality that all they see and

Narrative Essay About A Soccer Game
I happened to be on the outdoor sandy field experiencing different mixed emotions as I saw
people with several facial expressions at the end of the big soccer game. It was exhausting and
unforgiving game that got some players injured, and caused the bad sportsmanship to take place
between the coaches, players, and fans. Our fans and our rival's fans fought each other, and they
threw stuff across the stadium as if they were dealing with a gigantic wild animal. Some of the
players couldn't fully focus on their soccer match due to their divided attention, and some of them
were terrified by the fan's unnecessary acts. Whenever I think about this moment, I cry and smile
at the same time because we finally understood the meaning of fair play of soccer, and happy
ending of our game occurred as a result of that. I knew before the game that the unsportsmanlike
conduct would happen, it really did as I thought, but besides our soccer game's dirty side, it
appeared to be more captivating by the way it was played than any other game. I believe that there
were three causes for the ungentlemanly behavior that we faced during the tournament. Both my
team and the rival team fought to death in order to win the important soccer league because neither
of the teams made it to the final game before. They always face each other during the knockout
games which made them rivals. Finally, the beauty of the game also had an effect for why the
match took place to be played dirty.

Soccer. fast moving, strategy, competitive, I loved those aspects in the game. In the month of
March, when all the soccer tryouts began, I decided to try out for an older team which was 2 years
older–my brother's team– just for fun. I went out on the day of the trial and surprisingly, I made the
team. Feeling as if I had won the million dollar lottery, filled with excitement, on the side with fear
because there were boys who were enormous and strong on my team. The only reason they were
bigger, because I was 2 years younger. It was the first game of the season. It was also the first
game for me being on the team. It was the scared moment of my life, all at once. But I knew it
would be fun because I'll improve more rapidly than I would, playing in my age group. Tweet!!
the game began. 22 powerful bodies on the field. I was not the starting line of players because I
was the younger one and the new one on the team. I knew, in order for me to be the starting
player, I needed to prove to my coach that I am capable of being the starting line. My brother was
the starting player, not because he was better than me, but he had been on the team longer. He played
the same positions as me– left wing– so every time I would have to substitute in for him when he got
tired. I didn't have as much time to play as the others did. With great deals of struggle and going
to each practice with the team. I was determined. Arriving 30 minutes earlier, for extra warm up
and be in the state of mine that I was in the game. Every 2 days, going to the gym to workout so I
could gain bigger and stronger than the older dudes I played with. Beautifully, with all the
self–development skills and techniques, I was in the best shape of my life. Achieving smaller
different goals while aiming for the main one. One shot and multiple kills. As the time passed, I
was halfway through the season. Nevertheless, I expanded immensely and exceptionally. I could
feel it and I could absolutely trust my feelings. I didn't stop there yet. I wanted to aim higher. I
wanted to fly like the birds. I wanted to be the best. Being the starting line of player, the captain of
the team. That was only possible if I was to train more and do everything that was cruisel

Persuasive Essay About Soccer
Soccer, also known as football is a sport played by millions all around the world. This is not only a
sport, but an activity available to anyone that offers valuable life lessons to those who play.
Lessons and skills such as leadership and teamwork, determination, and friendships are a few that I
have gotten out of playing soccer. Many people view soccer as a waste of two and a half hours
because the game becomes repetitive and predictable. The start–off of the game is as follows, one
team starts with possession of the ball with the intention is to score a goal, while keeping it away
from the other team and vice versa. Watching the sport may seem boring to those who do not play
because they don't understand it. People who don't play soccer do not realize the amount of time
and effort it takes to excel in this sport, which comes down to the time spent practicing and
conditioning. The more hours spent on footwork and physical conditioning, the better you become.
This sport can be extremely physical, but it is also a mental game. It is important to be in the right
mental state during a game because distraction in the head leads to mistakes on the field. A strong
mental state is extremely important in soccer, as well as every day. The ability to multitask proves
to be an advantage in the game; when a player has the ball, they need to continue to move, look for
open teammates on the field, and maneuver around the opposing team simultaneously. People who

Soccer Influence
The Influence of Soccer Since its conception, soccer continues to dominate the global sports
scene. As of 2015, 265 million people play soccer in the world. This widely known game was
invented two centuries ago in England and quickly became one of the most popular sports in the
world. Soccer is also exceptionally influential in the political world. The sport has the capability
to spark war and bring peace to entire nations. Along with its effects on the political world, soccer
is also a considerable part of many cultures. The daily lives of people culturally and politically
would be vastly different if it weren't for the major influence of soccer. This widespread sport has
its roots in England. In 1863, association football, soccer's...show more content...
Not only does the world affect soccer and its ideas, but soccer creates substantial effects on the
world as well. Soccer extensively influences politics all over the world, some of its effects
positive and some negative. One of the major positive effects the sport can have is its power to
stop wars and bring nations together. One prime example of this is in 1967, Pele, a world famous
Brazilian soccer star played in an exhibition match in Nigeria . Prior to this event, Nigeria had been
in the middle of a civil war, but when Pele arrived to play in the match, the country called a 48–hour
cease–fire just to honor Pele and his talent . In 2007 in Ivory Coast, the same thing happened
again, only this time, Ivory Coast's own soccer team united the nation. Ivory Coast had been at war
with itself for five years when the national team played in the rebel capital. Both government
supporters and rebels were next to each other cheering in the stands because of soccer instead of
politics ("Football– A Beautiful Game..."). Another time countries have made peace over soccer
was in 2008 and 2009 when Turkey and Armenia played in a World Cup qualifying game. The
leader of Turkey and Armenia met to watch the game together consequently thawing relationships
between the two countries (Weiner). Soccer can also be a vehicle for various movements, especially

Soccer Passion
What is an obsession? An obsession is something a person is totally fixated on and also very
much devoted to. When I think of the word obsession, I also think of the word passion.
Everybody has a passion for something and in my world, my passion is soccer. Soccer has been
my obsession since I was very little and is important to me in many different aspects, such as
teaching me lessons and skills that I can use in life. I think soccer is the best mainly because of
the physical activity and the way it has affected my family and my hometown as well. Soccer is a
huge part of my life and I hope to keep it that way for a long time. It all started when I was about
six years old. I was playing YMCA soccer in my small town of about 9,000 people, also referred
to as Boonville. Back then I never realized how much of an impact soccer was going to make in
my life. As the years went on, I never played another sport simply because I had no desire to.
Once I finished with YMCA soccer, I moved onto a local team that did not last but a year. After
that door closed another one soon opened. A man from St. Louis who had just recently moved to
Boonville became close friends with our high school soccer coach. As their friendship developed,
they decided to compose a league, which was soon named Boonville Soccer Academy (BSA). I
went to the tryouts when I was about 10 years old. After making the team, I realized that joining
this league was the best decision I had ever made. Although we lost almost every game for our
first two years, we finally started getting the hang of things. We eventually started winning more
and more games. Not only were we just winning games, but we were also winning tournaments. My
league coach, Jimi, even decided to conjure up his own annual tournaments and leagues. I played
soccer for BSA all year round for eight years and I still continue to play for them to this day. I played
outdoor 5v5 soccer in the fall, indoor 5v5 soccer in the winter, 3v3 soccer in the summer and fall,
and also 11v11 high school in the spring. I played varsity soccer for all four years of high school as
a starter and our team achieved district champs for all of my four years as well. Playing for BSA and

Argentina. Sometimes they seperate towns. Just like gangs here in United States, soccer fans

and he was assasinated a few days later. Things like that usually never happen here in the United
States. Not to say that fans are no passionate about football, but its a different type of passion. The

Football vs. Soccer Essay
Football vs. Soccer Athletes who play football share the same goal as athletes who play soccer:
score the most goals to win the game. In football, there are two areas on opposite sides of the
field where one can score points by bringing the football over the goal line. Soccer shares this
same concept by having two nets on opposite sides of the field where one can score a point by
kicking the soccer ball into the net. Also, both sports share the concept of having an offense and
defense, and both sports each have eleven players on a team on the field at a time. These are only
few of many similarities between these two sports, but in actuality, they are significantly different.

On defense, there are defensive linemen who aim to tackle, or "sack" the quarterback. Next, the
linebackers serve as support by standing behind the linemen, they get their name by literally
"backing the line." Specifically, their job is to tackle the running back or quarterback if either
one of them crosses the "line of scrimmage," or the initial location of the ball, with the ball in
hand. Furthermore, the defensive backs attempt to prevent the wide receivers from catching
passes from the quarterback. On the other hand, in the game of soccer, the only piece of
equipment required is shin guards. Soccer is a contact sport, but no one tackles anyone like in
football, so the use of shoulder pads and helmets is not necessary. As opposed to football, the
home team in a soccer game wears white jerseys and the visiting team wears the colorful jerseys.
In a soccer game, a team's offense and defense is on the field simultaneously, there is no
alternation of a team's offense and defense. Each team has a goalie, also known as a keeper, to
serve as the last line of defense against the offense. This player is the only one who may use his/her
hands on the field, but he/she must remain inside the eighteen–yard–goalie–box to do so. A number
of three to five defenders position themselves in front of the goalie, and their primary job is to keep

During a match players have to wear a lot of materials. They all have their team's jersey, made out

they won the world cup also known as FIFA (The FГ©dГ©ration Internationale de Football

and not call a foul if he thinks that stopping play would give an advantage to the team making the

honest I am being. The feelings I describe and the words I use in this essay are from deep in my
heart and they are 100 percent real. For the 25 percent of you that do understand how I feel, your
dedication is an inspiration. The person I become on the soccer field is the best version of
myself. I am fearless and passionate. I don't hesitate or give in. I keep my head up and I lead my
team. I hope that one day I can apply all of these qualities to my life and my friendships. The game
of soccer is a team sport. This means that you are not only accountable for yourself but for others
too. Anyone who has been apart of a team has experienced something bigger than themselves.
Being a good teammate means showing up to practice on time. It means being positive even
when it seems there is no hope. My soccer team is like my second family. I know how each and
every one of my teammates play. I trust them with my life and I know they are all capable of
amazing things. They stand up for me and protect me. They build me up and make me better, on
and off the pitch. I would do anything for my team and I know that they would do anything for
me. The main reason I play is because of the satisfaction I get after a good game. I feel like I am
on top of the world when I send a perfect ball sailing over my opponents so my forward can run on
to it or when I bring the ball down and take control of the game. I strive for perfection. This can be
my best and worst quality. At school I come short of perfect continuously, I am forgetful and lazy,
but on the field everything is recognizable and consistent. Every movement is effortless and it is the

Narrative Essay About Soccer
El amor de Futbol Ever since I could remember, I have always had love for the game of soccer
ever since I first laid eyes on the sport. As a kid, I would spend countless hours in the backyard by
myself; I would juggle, kick around the ball and doing drills. When I wasn't in the yard
pretending to be Lionel Messi I would watch Ronaldinho videos on Youtube dreaming I will one
day play against him. Call me crazy, but I was addicted, even as a young boy, to the beautiful
sport itself, soccer. My first experience with soccer came when I was 10 years old, accompanied
by my mom. My heart beating so hard, excited to finally play for a soccer team. Kids all around
me all in love with the game, with grass so green and freshly cut, looking too perfect to be real.
With a brand new soccer ball, two goals set up on each side, who couldn't resist playing all day. I
was speechless. Recalling holding hands with my mom, as we walked towards the field, a
memory I would never forget. Throughout the game my mom would cheer me on, she was my
biggest supporter.I continued to play soccer in my youth and actually developed to become the
captain in my club team as well for my other teams. My mother was there; every game, every
practice, every loss, to guide me along the way. In the off–season she would take me to random
camps to make me a better player. 6 years later , I had to go through surgery and I had to give up
the one thing I truly loved. Wanting nothing to do with soccer, I

or a sport I play for fun soccer is my life. Millions of people across the globe play thebeautiful sport

We were all set up on the field ready for the game, I remember closing my eyes forabout a minute
before the game started, that minute felt like 10 years, I froze and thought aboutmyself when I
was 3 years old and how I first fell in love with the game and how my ultimatedream was to
become pro, I remember the hours of pain and suffering I put myself through tobecome the player
I was today, I remembered waking up at 4 a.m. on school mornings to go forruns so that I could
run longer in games,I remember skipping parties and hanging with friendsso that I could train, I
remembered everything, but one thing truly hit me was how much soccerwas there for me
growing up my parents argued a lot and when I was feeling sad and lonely Iwould go train at the
fields and it would hell my sorrow. Growing up in a household when yourparents are constantly
fighting is difficult, but soccer was my out lit it was my therapist. Duringthe time of their divorce
I felt like I had no one but soccer so I decided I need to give back to thegame. Soccer did so much
for me, so I wanted to prove to it that it wasn't a waste of time andthat I would make something out
of the game. I opened my eyes and didn't feel human anymore Ididn't feel in control of my own
body the sport had taken over me for the better. I remembermoments when I was running and it

Essay About Soccer

  • 1. Introduction to Soccer Essay Soccer is a popular sport played all over the world. Even though it has only been popular in the United States for the past 30 years, soccer has been a long time favorite most everywhere else. The sport dates back to the Egyptians, who played games involving the kicking of a ball. Now, the sport has grown to a global pastime, including men's and women's teams, and the World Cup (which is played every four years). Soccer originated with kicking games played by people in ancient civilizations. The modern version came about in the early nineteenth century, in England. It started as a game involving kicking and handing, but later this branched off into two separate sports: rugby and football (which is what the English call soccer). Around...show more content... In addition to the field itself, all that is needed for a game is two goals (eight feet high and eight yards apart) and a ball. Each player wears hard plastic or padded shingaurd, covered by long socks, for protection during play. Cleats are also worn for traction on the field. A goalie may also wear a special padded shirt, and gloves to protect his or her hands. A standard field, as regulated by the Federation Internationale de Football Association (or FIFA), has a length between 100 and 130 yards, and a width of between 50 and 100 yards. The rules of play for soccer have deliberately been kept simple. The referee makes most of the decisions, and attempts to encourage fair play. The game starts off with a kick off, and the teams are allowed to pass, dribble, juggle, head, kick, and shoot the ball to place it down the field, and (hopefully, or eventually) into their opponent's goal. If the ball is kicked off the field over the length of the field, the other team is given a throw–in, where the ball is thrown over the player's head, and back onto the field. If the ball is kicked over the goal, or across the width of the field, either a corner kick results (by the offensive team, where the ball is placed on the corner of the field and kicked into play) or the defensive team is awarded a goal kick, where the ball is placed on the corner of the goal box, and kicked back into play. If a goal is scored, the ball is taken back to the center of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Essay About Soccer Megan – you were our last line of defence and thank goodness you were because I don't know anybody else who could have made some of the saves you did. You started contributing more to our team conversations and talking to the team from goal and I'm sure everybody felt it helped them improve their game at some point. Everybody on the team thanks you for standing in net, sometimes not getting to touch the ball and freezing your butt off. And even though being in net may have felt pointless during those games, it allowed everybody in front of you to feel more comfortable pushing the ball forward and trying new things because they knew if they screwed it up, you would be there to back them up. You gave our team some confidence and it allowed...show more content... Players like that always grow to have a head for the game. I can already see you reading plays and anticipating the ball, and that is a massive skill to have as you continue forward with your soccer career. You became constant in the starting line up, and that is a challenging thing to accomplish in your first year. But you showed no sign of letting the pressure get to you and it showed on the field. Lindsay – we put you here there and everywhere this year and you took it all in stride and just played your game. I don't think I've ever seen anybody fall that much, but I've also never seen anybody get up that quickly. You played a major role in the first game we played against holy trinity. You broke up so many plays that could have developed into goals, and you kept up with one of the fastest girls on their team like it was nothing. You impressed me this year with your different range of passing, sometimes you lob it forward for others to run onto, sometimes you chip it just barely over the head of the opponent, and sometimes you play around with the ball and freak me out and then still make a great pass. Thank you for playing where we needed you to and for not questioning our ideas. If you keep going at this rate you will become a very versatile player that can fill any role a team may need. Sam – holy crap. I didn't know you had a left foot, but I'm glad you do because without it this last Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. The Importance Of Soccer Soccer is a popular sport all over the world and it is most popular in places like Europe and Spain. The objective of soccer is to score goals by passing the ball down the field into the opposing team's goal. The objective is to score more goals than your opponent. Soccer is popular all over the world, but why isn't it popular here in the U.S? Sports like basketball, Football, Baseball, and Tennis are all popular here in the U.S, yet, soccer doesn't get as much attention. The U.S international team has qualified for the biggest international tournament, The World Cup, for 32 years in a row. They never won the World cup, but they have been performing really well over the years. If soccer was more popular here in the U.S, they would have more people wanting to play the sport, causing them to improve massively as a team. A major reason soccer isn't popular here is because the U.S only has 1 league to play in. For example, all major countries have over 2–4 leagues so that more teams can play to reach for the top. The U.S has a league called Major League Soccer, also known as the MLS. Firstly, the MLS only has 22 teams in its league, that is more than most popular leagues in Europe and Spain! More teams mean more excitement and fans right? Well not necessarily, The MLS might have more teams than any other league in Europe, but it is very boring to watch. You might ask, why would it be boring if there's more teams? It is boring since there is only 1 league, meaning there is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Descriptive Essay About Soccer More Than Just a Sport Soccer. When most people think about an "outdoor adventure", this is probably not the type of sport that pops up in their heads. It is a worldwide sport which requires practitioners with strong psyche and well trained bodies. Furthermore, a positive attitude, endurance, and fighting spirit are important characters to show if you want to survive within the world of soccer. This is not only about a sport; it is about a lifestyle. It is not only about kicking a ball from one side of a field to another, it is about creating a bond between people. My career as a soccer player started when I was six years old. It would be a lie to say that it was love at first sight – the truth is that I understood nothing at all about...show more content... I would not say that soccer would solve the world's problems, but it would definitely bring more happiness to our planet. In year 2006, I traveled to Italy with my family, and at one of the hotels where we were staying, they coordinated a soccer tournament. My father (who is a real soccer freak and currently reading a book about soccer strategies), and I decided to join the competition. We got sorted into the same team and other hotel guest got amazed by how well we played the sport. At that point, neither of us knew a single word in Italian, but we both had a great time and we got to meet a group of new friends. When first coming to college, I did not know anyone. I am born and raised in Sweden, so moving to Florida was extremely nerve–racking. I was not only thousands of miles away from home, but it was also a six–hour time difference between me and all of my friends at home. Yet one thing I knew even before my plane landed at Orlando International Airport, I was going to play for the club soccer team. Entering the field was like entering a safety zone from the rest of my freshman college experience – it was like coming home. This is how I met my first friends, and how I later became involved within other clubs and organizations on campus. Furthermore, I realized that this outdoor sport has given me knowledge and wisdom that I can use within other areas in life. My cooperation skills have always been good. • 5. Soccer Descriptive Essay Wrist Wrist Wrist One lovely afternoon I was at my indoor soccer game. I was in an indoor league with some of my friends and we were tearing every team we played. That day we were going to play against an academy team, which have very good players.I had arrived about two minutes before the game. I was pretty late because I had gone to go eat before with my brother. So because of that I didn't start and I wasn't warmed up either. Nathan, my coach was like "Hey man did you go sew your clothes?," in a jokingly was because I was late. The game had begun now and it was already intense. It was back to back If I do say so. The first half was an exciting one as it was all tied up two to two. I had played about half of the half. Now came the second half, and later on I went on the pitch. Some kid and I jumped up into the air to win the ball. We both did, and when I fell down, I guess I landed on my hand the wrong way. I felt a sudden pain on my hand. My wrist was all jacked up. It was horrendous as I looked down at my hair in shock as It looked like the top of mountains.I couldn't feel my hand, It hurt quite a lot when i attempted to move it. My teammates, the opponents, my coach, the referee, and my brother all gathered around me to see what had happened. I wasn't crying or anything but I sure wanted to. Actually I really did haha. • 6. My Passion Of Soccer Everyone has that certain thing that makes them who they are. That certain thing for me is soccer. It's my hobby, my biggest interest, and my passion. Soccer isn't just a sport for me, it's my life. It has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have played the intriguing game of soccer since I was four years old, and I have loved it ever since. I am known as a soccer player, which makes sense because it takes up most of my time, and that's what I'm all about. I've been to Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Nebraska, and Missouri for soccer tournaments or games. Since the leagues in the Kansas City area are much more competitive, my family and I spend almost every weekend there due to games. I've spent countless hours at games and practices, as well as other workouts and fitness events to better myself as an individual player. I have had to miss other social events with my friends because of my dedication to soccer. I have even had to miss friday night football games because of prior soccer commitments, and I love friday night lights. There are mornings after games and tournaments when I wake up sore, with swollen, black and blue bruises from cleats or from collisions that happened during games, but I wouldn't give up it up for anything. Balancing soccer with all other aspects of my life gets a little challenging sometimes. From school with homework, to all of the extracurricular activities that I am involved in, I rarely ever have a free night. Between Link Crew, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Why Soccer Is the Best Sport Essay L.A. essay Why soccer is the best sport By: Omar Soccer is the most played sport worldwide, many people love it and I'm one of them, it is my favorite sport because you can improve your skills with your feet, and get a lot of exercise. By writing this essay, I hope that I can provide more information about the sport and maybe convert the people who dislike the sport into fans. I have heard from some people that soccer is a boring sport, but the truth is, it's a very interesting sport with a lot of excitement in it. When playing soccer, ball control is critical, you need possession of the ball in order to keep it away from the other team players, and at times, it can be fun because if you have possession of the ball most of the game,...show more content... If you play soccer, you have to practice in order to win, just like any other sport. When playing a game, you need to do moves that you have practiced, to get past the other teams defense and score a goal, and you also have to teach yourself mentally to think before you react. If you have the ball, you can't just kick it randomly and hope to score, you have to think of your other teammates and work with them to get the ball up the field. Another part of soccer that is very critical is passing. You have to pass the ball and develop new techniques and ways to control how the game is played. The last part is that you need to be fit in order to play soccer, because you are constantly on the field, and you don't get a lot of breaks, because the game never really stops except for halftime and when a foul is called or if you are waiting for the ball to come. When you're on defense, and playing a good team, you can be running around a ton, and you get tired really easily, especially when someone is on a breakaway, you will have to sprint down the field to try to stop them. If you play soccer a lot over a long time, you will develop good leg strength. Exercise is critical to the human body, and you will get a whole bunch of it by playing soccer. I hope this essay encourages parents to in–role their kids to play soccer because it's an amazing Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Why Soccer Is Better Than Other Countries Waking up early in the morning to go the soccer field and get a whiff of fresh cut grass, paint, and the unpleasant smell of some soccer socks being put on to be ready for a match. Some people may have played soccer in their younger days and can understand the enjoyment. Some people are committed to the sport and others may have played a few years because their parents made them to. There is nothing wrong with playing soccer, but to know that they were a part of an amazing experience. Fans from all over the world tune in to witness the greatest tournament to be competed at a high level. The entire World Cup reached 3.2 billion viewers, and the final game had around one million viewers watching live (2014 FIFA World Cup, 2015). Others enjoy to play the sport as well. People enjoy the game of soccer whether it is playing for fun or competing in the World Cup. Fans that play want to imitate their favorite players moves. Children watching the pros work their magic during the World Cup, doing fancy tricks or scoring crazy goals makes kids go out with a ball and copy what they saw. Players like Ronaldo and Messi do things that make child look up to them. A study from a survey conducted by FIFA in 2007 found that 265 million people are playing soccer (Kunz, 2007). • 9. Narrative Essay About A Soccer Game I happened to be on the outdoor sandy field experiencing different mixed emotions as I saw people with several facial expressions at the end of the big soccer game. It was exhausting and unforgiving game that got some players injured, and caused the bad sportsmanship to take place between the coaches, players, and fans. Our fans and our rival's fans fought each other, and they threw stuff across the stadium as if they were dealing with a gigantic wild animal. Some of the players couldn't fully focus on their soccer match due to their divided attention, and some of them were terrified by the fan's unnecessary acts. Whenever I think about this moment, I cry and smile at the same time because we finally understood the meaning of fair play of soccer, and happy ending of our game occurred as a result of that. I knew before the game that the unsportsmanlike conduct would happen, it really did as I thought, but besides our soccer game's dirty side, it appeared to be more captivating by the way it was played than any other game. I believe that there were three causes for the ungentlemanly behavior that we faced during the tournament. Both my team and the rival team fought to death in order to win the important soccer league because neither of the teams made it to the final game before. • 10. Descriptive Essay About Soccer Soccer. fast moving, strategy, competitive, I loved those aspects in the game. In the month of March, when all the soccer tryouts began, I decided to try out for an older team which was 2 years older–my brother's team– just for fun. I went out on the day of the trial and surprisingly, I made the team. Feeling as if I had won the million dollar lottery, filled with excitement, on the side with fear because there were boys who were enormous and strong on my team. The only reason they were bigger, because I was 2 years younger. It was the first game of the season. It was also the first game for me being on the team. It was the scared moment of my life, all at once. But I knew it would be fun because I'll improve more rapidly than I would, playing in my age group. Tweet!! the game began. 22 powerful bodies on the field. I was not the starting line of players because I was the younger one and the new one on the team. I knew, in order for me to be the starting player, I needed to prove to my coach that I am capable of being the starting line. My brother was the starting player, not because he was better than me, but he had been on the team longer. He played the same positions as me– left wing– so every time I would have to substitute in for him when he got tired. I didn't have as much time to play as the others did. With great deals of struggle and going to each practice with the team. I was determined. Arriving 30 minutes earlier, for extra warm up and be in the state of mine that I was in the game. Every 2 days, going to the gym to workout so I could gain bigger and stronger than the older dudes I played with. Beautifully, with all the self–development skills and techniques, I was in the best shape of my life. Achieving smaller different goals while aiming for the main one. One shot and multiple kills. As the time passed, I was halfway through the season. Nevertheless, I expanded immensely and exceptionally. I could feel it and I could absolutely trust my feelings. I didn't stop there yet. I wanted to aim higher. I wanted to fly like the birds. I wanted to be the best. Being the starting line of player, the captain of the team. That was only possible if I was to train more and do everything that was cruisel Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Persuasive Essay About Soccer Soccer, also known as football is a sport played by millions all around the world. This is not only a sport, but an activity available to anyone that offers valuable life lessons to those who play. Lessons and skills such as leadership and teamwork, determination, and friendships are a few that I have gotten out of playing soccer. Many people view soccer as a waste of two and a half hours because the game becomes repetitive and predictable. The start–off of the game is as follows, one team starts with possession of the ball with the intention is to score a goal, while keeping it away from the other team and vice versa. Watching the sport may seem boring to those who do not play because they don't understand it. People who don't play soccer do not realize the amount of time and effort it takes to excel in this sport, which comes down to the time spent practicing and conditioning. The more hours spent on footwork and physical conditioning, the better you become. This sport can be extremely physical, but it is also a mental game. It is important to be in the right mental state during a game because distraction in the head leads to mistakes on the field. A strong mental state is extremely important in soccer, as well as every day. The ability to multitask proves to be an advantage in the game; when a player has the ball, they need to continue to move, look for open teammates on the field, and maneuver around the opposing team simultaneously. People who understand this sport can Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Soccer Influence The Influence of Soccer Since its conception, soccer continues to dominate the global sports scene. As of 2015, 265 million people play soccer in the world. This widely known game was invented two centuries ago in England and quickly became one of the most popular sports in the world. Soccer is also exceptionally influential in the political world. The sport has the capability to spark war and bring peace to entire nations. Along with its effects on the political world, soccer is also a considerable part of many cultures. The daily lives of people culturally and politically would be vastly different if it weren't for the major influence of soccer. This widespread sport has its roots in England. In 1863, association football, soccer's...show more content... Not only does the world affect soccer and its ideas, but soccer creates substantial effects on the world as well. Soccer extensively influences politics all over the world, some of its effects positive and some negative. One of the major positive effects the sport can have is its power to stop wars and bring nations together. One prime example of this is in 1967, Pele, a world famous Brazilian soccer star played in an exhibition match in Nigeria . Prior to this event, Nigeria had been in the middle of a civil war, but when Pele arrived to play in the match, the country called a 48–hour cease–fire just to honor Pele and his talent . In 2007 in Ivory Coast, the same thing happened again, only this time, Ivory Coast's own soccer team united the nation. Ivory Coast had been at war with itself for five years when the national team played in the rebel capital. Both government supporters and rebels were next to each other cheering in the stands because of soccer instead of politics ("Football– A Beautiful Game..."). Another time countries have made peace over soccer was in 2008 and 2009 when Turkey and Armenia played in a World Cup qualifying game. The leader of Turkey and Armenia met to watch the game together consequently thawing relationships between the two countries (Weiner). Soccer can also be a vehicle for various movements, especially in the Middle East, where Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Soccer Passion What is an obsession? An obsession is something a person is totally fixated on and also very much devoted to. When I think of the word obsession, I also think of the word passion. Everybody has a passion for something and in my world, my passion is soccer. Soccer has been my obsession since I was very little and is important to me in many different aspects, such as teaching me lessons and skills that I can use in life. I think soccer is the best mainly because of the physical activity and the way it has affected my family and my hometown as well. Soccer is a huge part of my life and I hope to keep it that way for a long time. It all started when I was about six years old. I was playing YMCA soccer in my small town of about 9,000 people, also referred to as Boonville. Back then I never realized how much of an impact soccer was going to make in my life. As the years went on, I never played another sport simply because I had no desire to. Once I finished with YMCA soccer, I moved onto a local team that did not last but a year. After that door closed another one soon opened. A man from St. Louis who had just recently moved to Boonville became close friends with our high school soccer coach. As their friendship developed, they decided to compose a league, which was soon named Boonville Soccer Academy (BSA). I went to the tryouts when I was about 10 years old. After making the team, I realized that joining this league was the best decision I had ever made. Although we lost almost every game for our first two years, we finally started getting the hang of things. We eventually started winning more and more games. Not only were we just winning games, but we were also winning tournaments. My league coach, Jimi, even decided to conjure up his own annual tournaments and leagues. I played soccer for BSA all year round for eight years and I still continue to play for them to this day. I played outdoor 5v5 soccer in the fall, indoor 5v5 soccer in the winter, 3v3 soccer in the summer and fall, and also 11v11 high school in the spring. I played varsity soccer for all four years of high school as a starter and our team achieved district champs for all of my four years as well. • 15. Football vs. Soccer Essay Football vs. Soccer Athletes who play football share the same goal as athletes who play soccer: score the most goals to win the game. In football, there are two areas on opposite sides of the field where one can score points by bringing the football over the goal line. Soccer shares this same concept by having two nets on opposite sides of the field where one can score a point by kicking the soccer ball into the net. Also, both sports share the concept of having an offense and defense, and both sports each have eleven players on a team on the field at a time. These are only few of many similarities between these two sports, but in actuality, they are significantly different. The rules, rituals, and concepts of both sports distinguish...show more content... On defense, there are defensive linemen who aim to tackle, or "sack" the quarterback. Next, the linebackers serve as support by standing behind the linemen, they get their name by literally "backing the line." Specifically, their job is to tackle the running back or quarterback if either one of them crosses the "line of scrimmage," or the initial location of the ball, with the ball in hand. Furthermore, the defensive backs attempt to prevent the wide receivers from catching passes from the quarterback. On the other hand, in the game of soccer, the only piece of equipment required is shin guards. Soccer is a contact sport, but no one tackles anyone like in football, so the use of shoulder pads and helmets is not necessary. As opposed to football, the home team in a soccer game wears white jerseys and the visiting team wears the colorful jerseys. In a soccer game, a team's offense and defense is on the field simultaneously, there is no alternation of a team's offense and defense. Each team has a goalie, also known as a keeper, to serve as the last line of defense against the offense. This player is the only one who may use his/her hands on the field, but he/she must remain inside the eighteen–yard–goalie–box to do so. A number of three to five defenders position themselves in front of the goalie, and their primary job is to keep the ball away from the goalie, because, as stated previously, the goalie is the last line Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 18. Descriptive Essay About Soccer The Game I know this may sound cliche or super basic and that is fine, but the topic of this essay is soccer. Soccer is a game played all over the country by all different kinds of people. It is the world's game. This game includes a ball, two goals, and eleven players. Those are the facts but there is so much more to it than that. You need passion, drive, competitiveness, and most of all, love. This game triggers all of these things in me and that is the reason why I play it. I want to start off by saying that more than half of the people reading this probably don't understand how honest I am being. The feelings I describe and the words I use in this essay are from deep in my heart and they are 100 percent real. For the 25 percent of you that do understand how I feel, your dedication is an inspiration. The person I become on the soccer field is the best version of myself. I am fearless and passionate. I don't hesitate or give in. I keep my head up and I lead my team. I hope that one day I can apply all of these qualities to my life and my friendships. The game of soccer is a team sport. This means that you are not only accountable for yourself but for others too. Anyone who has been apart of a team has experienced something bigger than themselves. Being a good teammate means showing up to practice on time. It means being positive even when it seems there is no hope. My soccer team is like my second family. I know how each and every one of my teammates play. I trust them with my life and I know they are all capable of amazing things. They stand up for me and protect me. They build me up and make me better, on and off the pitch. I would do anything for my team and I know that they would do anything for me. The main reason I play is because of the satisfaction I get after a good game. I feel like I am on top of the world when I send a perfect ball sailing over my opponents so my forward can run on to it or when I bring the ball down and take control of the game. I strive for perfection. This can be my best and worst quality. At school I come short of perfect continuously, I am forgetful and lazy, but on the field everything is recognizable and consistent. Every movement is effortless and it is the closest Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Narrative Essay About Soccer El amor de Futbol Ever since I could remember, I have always had love for the game of soccer ever since I first laid eyes on the sport. As a kid, I would spend countless hours in the backyard by myself; I would juggle, kick around the ball and doing drills. When I wasn't in the yard pretending to be Lionel Messi I would watch Ronaldinho videos on Youtube dreaming I will one day play against him. Call me crazy, but I was addicted, even as a young boy, to the beautiful sport itself, soccer. My first experience with soccer came when I was 10 years old, accompanied by my mom. My heart beating so hard, excited to finally play for a soccer team. Kids all around me all in love with the game, with grass so green and freshly cut, looking too perfect to be real. With a brand new soccer ball, two goals set up on each side, who couldn't resist playing all day. I was speechless. Recalling holding hands with my mom, as we walked towards the field, a memory I would never forget. Throughout the game my mom would cheer me on, she was my biggest supporter.I continued to play soccer in my youth and actually developed to become the captain in my club team as well for my other teams. My mother was there; every game, every practice, every loss, to guide me along the way. In the off–season she would take me to random camps to make me a better player. 6 years later , I had to go through surgery and I had to give up the one thing I truly loved.
