Introduction
A community is a familiar thread used to bring people togetherto advocate
and support each other in the fight to overcome those threats. As human
beings,we need a sense of belonging is what connects us to the many
relationships we develop. The teacher is a social engineer and is
responsible forproducing the quality our society demands.This camp
provides an opportunity to gain that skill and knowledge.

PROLOUGE……
The restructured B.Ed Curriculum directs to organize a four-day residential
community living camp during an academic year. Accordingly,Mangalam
College of Education, Ettumanoor organized a four-day community living
camp “Esperanto 2k18” during Dec 12,13,14,15 & 19 in the college campus
and Archana WomenCenter.
The organization of such a camp had the following curriculum goals:
To promote socialaccommodationand broadenthe mental abilities of
the student teachers.
To promote the democratic nature and involvement of the student
teacher in planning and implementing educational activities.
To develop critical thinking about the issues related to the
policies/approachesin education.
To broadenthe social perspectivesof prospective teachers on
immediate social and environmental issues.
To enable teacher trainees to organize and implementvarious activities
in a democratic manner.
To nurture social, democratic,personal and cultural values through
varied activities.
To remind of social commitmentand their constructive role in
socialization.
The theme for the community living camp envisions the developmentof a
Universal Cohesive vision of Global Citizenship and Improvementof Social,
Cultural and Environmental Responsiveness.
Set the stage……
In the planning session,the Principal and the Faculty decided to implement
the programmes through the co-ordinated activities of differentcommittees.
Sub-committeeswere formed assigning various duties; with the
participation teachers and non teaching staffs.The programme organizing
committee was formed under the chairmanship of Principal T.K.Mathew
and Staff coordinator Mrs.Sijji Jose.

Day 1:12/12/2018
Awareness Day
Day one’s programmes beginwith the officialinauguration of ESPERANTO
2K18.
Inaugural Ceremony
It was an awesome experience for me because I was the official announcer
of the entire inaugural function.
Inauguralsession beganat 10.00am with prayer.
“Sthya prakasame sarva saktha….” The college coirteam sought the
blessings of the Almighty.
Teacher convener Mrs.Sijji Jose (Assistant professorin Education)
delivered the welcome speech.She was delighted that we could organize
such a big venture amidst of several difficulties.She expressedour
gratitude to all our well wishers, each and everyone were welcomed with
indebtedness.
In the presidential address,college Principal T.K.Mathew emphasized the
teacher’s role, conduct and social responsivenessin our society.
Mrs.Mariamma Antony, senior teacher from our department and Mangalam
State SchoolPrincipal Mrs.Eliamma Teacher delivered felicitation.
Ettumanoor Sub InspectorMr.Prasanth Kumar lighted the lamp. In the
inaugural address he emphasized the need for social commitmentof
teachers. And after that he had taken an awareness class on the topic
‘Road safety’.
Mr.Jomon A.J., union memberdelivered vote of thanks to all dignitaries and
all others presentthere.
The inaugural section was windup with National Anthem.
Camp Orientation
There was an interval for 10 minutes and next sessionbegins at 11.45am.
And it was Camp orientation by Mrs.Sijji Jose.She focused on the
curricular objectives,and developmentof qualities already exists. She talks
about social responsibilities,inbounding of social, moral, and cultural
values, learning to plan and execute community service and learning to live
together by developing personaland social skill. Teacheralso spokes
about the criteria should be followed in the camp. It includes importance of
attendance, actual participation, responsibility,team work, discipline and
time. The sessionwas over at 12.20pm.
Community Lunch
After the inaugural session,from 12.30pm to 1.30 pm, it was the time for
lunch. Lunch was arranged in Archana WomenCenter. All students were
gathered there and serve others. It was really a new experience.The food
was very tasty and all enjoyed well.
‘SANJOS’ Visit
From 2.00pm to 3.30pm a visit to Sanjos Vidhyalaya, a schoolfor mentally
challenged students was arranged. It was an
unforgettable experience for me. As a teacher one should learn to
understand about the individual difference and should realize on our own
abilities and talents. After the talk with schoolstudents, we were cleaned
the schoolcampus. I and some of my friends were cleaned kinder garden
and washed some play raids.
Group Division
After reaching the college campus,it was the time for group division. Entire
students were divided into 4 groups namely Phoenix, Elevens, Vamoose
and Amigos.I was in the Vamoose group.
Games plus Recess time
From 5.00pm to 7.00 pm time for playing games those who are interested
in it and recess.All students were moved to Archana women center, where
all are allotted to stay.
@ Archana
From 7.00pm to 7.30pm time for prayer and 7.30pm to 8.30pm time for
dinner. Then 8.30pm onwards time for recreation and evaluation.
GroupWise cultural activities were conducted and assessmentof day I
activities were conducted.
The day 1 progammes were finished up on 10.00pm and then time for bed.
Day 2:13/12/2018
Swatch Kalalay Day
The day 2 begins with an ablution at 5.30am and from 6.30am to 6.45am
time for prayer. The morning walk during 6.45am to 7.15am was a great
experience.Then the breakfast was at 8.00am.Then all of us were moved
to college auditorium.
Skit
Today also I was the anchor. The first programme on stage was a skit
presented by Archana WomenCenter regarding women empowerment.
Mrs.Bijily Mathew student representative was welcomed all to the
programme.The skit titled “ Subadhrayude Jeevitham”, focusedon women
empowerment,equality, rights and safety. Mr.Jomon A.J. delivered
a reflectionand Mr.Ajay delivered vote of thanks. The section over at
11.15am.
Guidanceclass
The next sessionbegins at 11.30am.It was a class lead by Mr.Manesh
Varghese John (Head of the departmentHistory, St. Thomas College
Pala). Ms.Alphonse P.J., student representative deliver welcome speech.
The class was mainly focusedon Educational Guidance and he broadly
covered the problem the problems among adolescentand the role played
by teachers in school counseling. He stressed teacher’s role as a friend,
consistentpersonality and social-self of teacher. A teacher who is vigilant
on learner’s problem and good interpersonal relation can identify such
threats on children. He also mentioned about the importance of handwriting
and its relation betweenattitude and role in perceptionalcapacity. He also
discussedon the aims and importance of community living camp. The
sessionwas covered with a great enthusiasm. Mrs.Neethu K.R. delivered
the vote of thanks. The Principal, T.K.Mathew sir gave memento.
From 1.00pm to 2.00pm was the time forlunch, at Archana women center.
Each group was allotted to serve food on each time. Now, it was the time
for our group. For me, food is a blessing of God and I do not like to waste
food personally and a great difficulttask to see others wasting food.I serve
a small portion at first and told everyone to ask if they want more. My group
was also very supportive to this attitude.
Campus cleaning
It was the time for campus cleaning. From 2.00pm to 3.30pm.Students
were allotted each portion of the educational campus on group wise. My
group got M.Ed classes forcleaning. We were actively and dedicatedly
complete the work. Mr.Ajin Sir was monitored our work.
News & Comedy coverings
The sessionwas focused on the important news on the activities during the
camp time and camp activities. Each group actively presented the news
bulletins. The next thing was a little comedytouch. The news was
presented in a comic manner. The activities done by students were
comically criticized. Our group got first prize in it.
The next day’s activity was announced during this time. It was a
photography competition.
The all other activities were same on the last day.
Day 3:14/12/2018
Empowerment Day
After the all morning routine practices there was a Yoga practice. It was
quite rejuvenating experience.Afterthe tasty breakfast there was a survey.
Survey
Each group was allotted differentpart of Ettumannoor municipality to
conduct a survey on the topic Diabetics.All were actively participated in the
survey, and it was a great experience.
Constructionworksite visit
From 2.00 to 5.00pm all were visited Archana women center’s construction
worksites. It was a place for women empowerment.It will motivate all of us
to do a little more.
Camp fire
The camp fire starts on 7.00pm.The enchanting music, fire wood lights
etc….were cheer up all to dance. It was a great experience.
Supper
The supper was little special today. Students were actively prepared
chappathy’s and curry and served by the boys.
After the recreational activities all were caught bed by 10.00pm.
Day 4:15/12/2018
Skill Acquisition Day
After the all routine practices all were assembled in the college auditorium
by 9.30pm.
Soap preparation
From 10.00pm there was a class conducted as the part of skill acquisition.
It was a soap preparation class. All were understood to make soaps in our
own home without chemicals.Its wind up on 12.30pm.
Spicy Chat
After the lunch a reflectionon camp were made in the college auditorium.
All were disclosed the merits and demerits,their personal opinions and
suggestions regarding the camp.
Closing ceremony
The closing ceremonywas started at 4.00pm under the leadership of
Principal. Camp coordinator Mrs.Sijji Jose delivered a reflectionon the
camp and students were also speaks on their experience.I was also the
anchor of the programme.The programme ends with national anthem.
Day 5 19/12/2018
“ABHAYAM” Visit
Abhayam was a charitable society near Kottayam medical college,where
poorly feeds mid-day meals. The societywas run by a youngster named
Mr. Sibin Thomas, who dedicated gis entire life to serve others. He and his
closed circuits prepared and served food for the patients and their
bystanders in the medical college hospital. They also provide place for
staying for treatment who were coming from such a long distance and not
able to rent rooms.
For me, I heard and read about this youngster a lot and a great experience
for being a part of the divine activity.
OVERALL REFLECTION
The camp was quite a great experience to learn and to do more to the society and
be improved us in different perspectives.
