The document summarizes the dredging, reclamation and dewatering works for the Escravos Gas to Liquids facility in Nigeria. Over 3 million cubic meters of sand was dredged from offshore and used to reclaim 70 hectares of land, raising it up to 8 meters high. Over 7,000 km of vertical drains were installed and a dewatering system of 235 wells was set up to accelerate consolidation of the soft soils. Additional measures like an impermeable cover and cutoff wall were later required when dewatering was less effective than expected. These additional steps successfully increased settlement by over 0.5 meters within 6 months, with an overall settlement of 4.85 meters by project completion in March 2006

(NFS) with the “Excellence in Surface Coal Mining and Reclamation” National Award in September 2016 for the land reclamation at the Loomis Bank Operation off of Middle Road in Luzerne County, Hanover Township, PA. The Loomis site was an abandoned culm bank that covered over 100 acres of land. NFS started operations at the site in the late nineties and processed over a million tons of the culm material converting it to a viable fuel for power generation at Northampton Generating Company, LP’s (NGC) power plant located in Northampton, PA.
A case study on Coastal protection structure failure. Quay failure in Port of Barcelona. The presentation describes the failure of harbour walls which occurred at Barcelona on 1st January 2007, associated with an inadequate consideration of the ground conditions in the light of the marine environment. At Barcelona, the construction of the quay wall proceeded at a faster rate than the breakwater. In this case the wharf backfill was placed rapidly on the soft muds, progressing from the inland side. The paper discusses the importance of an overview including the ground investigation, engineering design, construction method and speed of construction. Social media case study of Strepsils Campaign - Ab Montu BolegaMoses Gomes
Strepsils recently unveiled campaign "Ab Montu Bolega" based on the concept of SPEAK UP. This campaign have been lead initiator in different ways, especially an OTC product venturing in social media engagement with customers. Strepsils brand is associated with cleaning of throat during winter as people experience cough and cold during this season. Looking at the target audiance Strepsils planned a totally interactive campaign especially targeting the people at large with interactive website and video on SPEAK UP, and if you cannot then have Strepsils to clean your throat before speaking up. This marks entry of Strepsils brand in different segment / category of brand to associate itself with.
Here is my analysis and conclusion of the campaign, its success and failures. As according to me, this concept could have had larger viral impact.

Coastal regulation is a set of rules and regulations laid down by the government in order to keep check on the development in and around coastal regions in India
The start of the 21st Century brought growing concern in Western Australia over the declining natural supplies of water across the region. To safeguard the future in the longer term it was clear that Perth needed to diversify its water strategy. Find more here http://www.degremont.com.au/projects/perth-seawater-desalination-plant
1. INTRODUCTION
The Escravos Gas-to-Liquids facility (EGTL) converts
natural gas feed into high quality, environmentally
superior, liquid GTL fuel, naphtha, and LPG
products. The facility feed is approximately 320
million SCFD of natural gas and the facility
produces approximately 33,000 BPD of products.
The EGTL facility will be built on the north bank of
the Escravos River tidal outlet, in the Niger Delta
about 2 kilometers north of its confluence with the
Atlantic Ocean on the Bight of Benin,
approximately 100 nautical miles south east of
Lagos, and 37 nautical miles west of Warri,
Nigeria.
PROJECT SPECIFICATION
The EGTL facilities will be built adjacent to the
existing Escravos Terminal and Gas Plant. The
building site consists of a greenfield site, with the
existing environment consisting of man-grove and
freshwater elements, typical of brackish water
sources dominated by the sea, and geotechnically
very poor soil conditions. Chevron Nigeria Limited
selected a piled raft foundation for its plant
structures, and this was used as the basis for
defining the Dredging, Reclamation and
Dewatering Works. The work consisted of
dredging 3,000,000 m3
, hydraulic sandfill of 70
ha (max. 8 m thick), the installation of closely
spaced prefabricated drains, the lowering of the
water table over an area of approximately 30 ha

Location Escravos, Delta State, Nigeria
Period 2002 - 2006
Performed by Boskalis International bv
by active pumping and the installation of the necessary monitoring
instrumentation.
DREDGING AND HYDRAULIC FILL
The sand for the hydraulic fill was dredged by a large trailing suction hopper
dredger from a borrow area located offshore the Lekki Peninsula near Lagos.
From here the sand was transported over a distance of approximately 135
kilometers and dumped in a rehandle pit dredged previously near the
entrance of the Escravos River. Two medium-size trailer dredgers were used to
redredge the sand from the rehandle pit, transport it some 30 kilometers
