10. To ask MDs to prescribe pravastatin for one(1) Congestive Heart Disease (CHD) patient / day. Mechanics: 1. Territory Manager (TM) shall list down the top 10 target MDs for pravastatin. Preferred doctors are cardiologists, endocrinologists, nephrologists, Diabetes specialists, and IM-Gen or GPs who see many CHD patients. 2. Since Capoten(captopril) will be positioned ahead of pravastatin during the detail, there should not be any problem bridging to pravastatin and the benefits that will accrue the CHD patients as proven in landmark studies CARE, LIPID etc. 3. After highlighting pravastatin’s efficacy briefly, TM shall now emphasize pravastatin’s liver safety advantage as follows: a. pravastatin does not cause dramatic elevations in liver enzyme levels unlike other statins. b. The USFDA requires less frequent liver function monitoring with pravastatin as compared with other statins. (Liver Function Tests or LFTs cost about P 1,300. Check your hospital’s rates. Lesser LFTs mean lesser expenses for the patient). c. pravastatin is not metabolized via the cytochrome P450 thus minimizing the possibility of drug interactions. 4. Based on the liver safety benefit, ask the doctor’s commitment to prescribe pravastatin to at least 1 CHD patient / day. 5. Thank the doctor after gaining his commitment to use our brand. Present him with a can of liver spread with attachedpravastatin sticker to remind him about pravastatin’s unrivaled liver safety profile. 6. The program must be consistently implemented for a period of 20-24 weeks. Give the doctor one liver safety message about pravastatin each time you visit him. This should lead the doctor to equate pravastatin with liver safety and as such prescribe it.
