This document discusses a model of a continuum of likeness and differentiation in intimate relationships. [1] It proposes a six point continuum and reviews previous related theoretical models. [2] An empirical task called the Likeness Continuum Task was developed to test the model which involves subjects placing coins on the continuum to represent relationships. [3] Two studies applying the task found that a non-clinical group's responses followed a bell curve as predicted by the model, while clinical groups' responses differed, supporting the model.

The first industrial site manufacturing eco-friendly building materials is located in Noyal Pontivy, France on 10,000 square meters, with production and storage occupying 2,000 square meters and workshops and offices using another 1,200 square meters. The materials are made from natural raw materials like lime, hemp shivings, and untreated pine wood through a natural drying process that generates no pollution or waste. The site uses automated processes and computer sensors to mix, distribute, and route the molded blocks to dry racks for 12-20 days before packaging.
INTENSIVE SYSTEM
• Birds are completely confined in the houses either on floor (ground or slatted floor) or in the cages.
• Most efficient system for the commercial or modern poultry production in huge numbers
A.) DEEP LITTER SYSTEM
• Birds are housed on floor by placing over suitable litter material.
• Characteristics of ideal litter materials – Light in weight
Medium particle size
Highly adsorbent
Rapid drying
Soft and compressible
Low thermal conductivity
Less expensive and easily available
• Commonly available litter materials – paddy husk, saw dust, wood shavings, peanut hulls, sugarcane bagasse, crushed corn cobs, processed papers.
• Thickness of litter – 5cm (2”) in summer and 7.5 cm (3”) in winter finally at the time of disposal 10-12 cm (4”-5”)
Moisture content of litter Consequences
20-25% Optimum moisture
< 20% (Dry) Dusty dehydration, respiratory distress
>30% (wet) Ammonia production, decrease in productivity, increased risk of infectious diseases, keratoconjunctivitis
• Proper stirring of litter i.e. raking should be done on every alternate day.
Reasons for wet litter condition necessary action to be taken
1. Wet & humid weather proper ventilation
2. Excess moisture in faeces due to increased water intake due to excess salt in feed nutritional management
To avoid wet litter 1kg lime or ½ kg super phosphate per square meter should be applied.
Sparkling of wood ash & super phosphate in the ratio of 4:1 @ 5 kg/ 10 square meter area prevents emission of ammonia
B.) SLATTED FLOOR SYSTEM
• Slatted floor, iron rods or wood reapers are used as floor, usually 2-3 feet above the ground level to facilitate fall of droppings through slats.
• Wooden reapers or iron rods of 2” diameter can be used on lengthwise of the house with interspaces of 1” between rods.
SLAT CUM LITTER SYSTEM
Part of the floor is covered with slats and rest of the floor is covered with litter
2/3rd of floor is slats and 1/3rd area is left for litter
Feeders and waterers are arranged in both slat and litter area
Mostly preferred for broiler breeders
In case of breeder flock, nest boxes are usually kept on litter area
CAGE SYSTEM
This system involves rearing of poultry on raised wire netting floor in smaller compartments, called cages.
Very efficient for LAYERS.
Feeders and waterers are attached to cages from outside except nipple waterers, for which pipeline is installed through or above cages.
Auto-operated feeding trolleys and egg collection belts can also be used in this rearing system.
The droppings are either collected in trays underneath cages or on belts or on the floor or deep pit under cages, depending on type of cages.

This document provides information on housing requirements for poultry, specifically laying hens. It discusses site selection, environmental needs, and various housing systems including deep litter, slatted floors, and cages. Key considerations for housing include adequate ventilation, protection from weather and predators, and appropriate temperatures for different stages of the birds' lives. The document also describes brooding arrangements for young chicks and equipment needed like feeders, nests, and perches.
The document summarizes a turkey curtain wall ventilation system for farm buildings. The turkey curtain consists of a tough woven plastic fabric that replaces most or part of a wall. It provides easy and rapid adjustment for changing weather conditions using cables, pulleys, and a winch. The turkey curtain opens from the top, admitting cool air above livestock. It must be securely supported to prevent wind damage using nylon or polyester ropes threaded through the wall in a zig-zag pattern.

The document discusses potential designs and technologies for dairy farms in 2020. It describes how robotic milking systems could allow farms to be operated more efficiently with less labor by milking cows continuously. However, robotic systems also present challenges in ensuring high milk quality and getting all cows to voluntarily use the robots. The document also covers considerations for stable construction, interior design, feeding systems, and data acquisition to optimize cow welfare and productivity.
2. Equipment for floor systems – we can offer you an extensive range of product
Feeding
Important elements of housing equipment
For feeding the well-proven Big Dutchman chain
feeder system is used. The advantages are
obvious:
) the CHAMPION feed chain distributes the
feed rapidly and evenly;
) increased egg production due to increased
feed conversion;
) maintenance-free 90° corner for trouble-free
continuous feeding;
) the perch tube above the trough offers
additional perching for the birds and prevents
soiling of the feed;
) the rugged plastic legs ensure a long working
life, even when they are standing in the litter;
) solid and long-lasting technology.
Hens can feed from both trough sides; the feeding
system can be winched to the ceiling for easy cleaning

3. INTEGRA plastic slats
The INTEGRA plastic flooring recently designed by Big Dutch-
man is ideally suited for laying hens. Its advantages are:
) hygienic due to its smooth surface;
) secure foothold for the hens;
) integrated perch in the shape of a double bar = maximum
comfort when roosting;
) very small upper surface = optimum manure penetration,
flooring stays clean throughout the entire batch;
) no contact surface between the slats = easy and thorough
cleaning, prevents hotbeds for mites and other parasites;
) no sharp edges and corners = no danger of injury;
) easy to install;
) high durability, long service-life.

Alternative layer management includes the following
systems:
( barn production and
( free-range production.
According to the EU-directive 1999/74 of July 19th
,
1999 (these will vary according to local legislation)
barn production has to comply with the following:
( 250 cm2
of littered area per hen; littered area has
to be at least one third of the ground surface;
( 9 hens/m2
usable area, of at least 30 cm width,
floor slope must not exceed 14 % or 8° and
headroom must be at least 45 cm;
( 120 hens/m2

4. Manure pit for the storage of manure throughout the entire batch
Manure scraper for the daily removal of fresh manure
Manure belt underneath the supply area of NATURA-Floor
To improve hygiene in the house, part of the house
should be equipped with plastic slats formed as a
manure pit. With both feeders and drinkers located
on or above the manure pit, this is the area where
the majority of the manure is deposited.
For storing and removal of manure we can offer
you three different systems:
) The manure is stored in an approximately 80 -
90 cm deep manure pit throughout the entire
laying period. Upon completion of the cycle, the
manure pit is dismantled and the manure is
removed from the house.
) The manure drops into 30 - 60 cm deep manure
channels. Every day, a scraper pulled by a stainless
steel cable removes the fresh manure from the
house. Manure drying can be installed which allows
the manure to be removed less frequently (8 - 12 week
intervals) this requires an advanced scraper system.
) Within the NATURA-Floor system we have manure
belts under the slats, the manure is removed every
week => optimum conditions for an ideal house
environment.
Manure pit / manure removal
View into a layer house – NATURA-Floor with manure belt
We recommend:
The manure should be as dry as possible and should
not be stored in the house any longer than absolutely
necessary => fewer problems with flies, lower concen-
tration of ammonia in the house air, optimum climate
conditions for the hens.
5. Colony nests offer high acceptance for the hens and optimum egg quality
In addition to an adequate supply of feed and water,
the right laying nest plays an important role within
alternative layer management. The prevention of
floor eggs, dirty eggs and cracked eggs is a precon-
dition for economic success.
Depending on the house layout and equipment, Big
Dutchman nests Colony and Colony 2+ can be delivered
as wall-mounted or as a double nest with one or two

Egg collection – a suitable system for every house
Hand-gathering table
Automatic egg collection is also an essential part of the equip-
ment within the alternative management of laying hens.
Savings in time and labour as well as a gentle transportation
of the eggs are the main reasons for utilising these systems.
Big Dutchman offers well-proven reliable egg collection
systems, depending on your individual requirements:
) hand-gathering table;
) rod and curve conveyors.
The Big Dutchman rod conveyor is often
installed as a link between the laying nest
and the egg collection to bring two-tier
product to a single level.
Both nests feature a strong, ridged framework
construction and legs with an open U-profile for
easy and thorough cleaning.
Colony is characterised by its simple ejection system,
whereas Colony 2+ distinguishes itself because of its
tilting nest floor mechanism. Before the nest is fully
closed for the night any remaining eggs automati-
cally roll onto the egg belt.
Hens are excluded from both nests at night = no
soiling, good nest hygiene.
