 Sexual orientation
 A public authority must
 Eliminate discrimination, harassment, victimization, and
any other conduct prohibited by this Act.
 Advance equality of opportunity between persons who have
th same characteristics or not.
 Foster good relations between people who share the same
characteristics or not.
 A person who is not a public authority but that
exercises public functions must also follow the
functions stated.
 Having due regard to the need to
 Remove or minimize disadvantages suffered by people who
are different .
 Take steps to meet the needs of people who share a relevant
characteristic different from others.
 Encourage people to participate in activities that doesn’t
involve people that are similar.
 Take steps involved in meeting the needs of
disabled people who are different from people who
are not disabled.
 Having due regard to the need to foster good
relations between people who are the same or
different involves the need to:
 Tackle prejudice
 Promote understanding
 Compliance with the duties in this section may
involve treating some people better than others,
but that is not to be taken as permitting conduct
that would otherwise be prohibited by or under
this act.

includes:
 A breach of an equality clause or rule
 A breach of a non=discrimination rule
