The document discusses the "Treatment Triangle" model, which explores the roles that social workers and clients can take on in their relationship: rescuer, victim, and persecutor. It describes how social workers working with trauma clients can slip into an unhealthy cycle moving between these roles if they do not practice self-reflection and step outside of the triangle. Effective social work requires recognizing one's tendencies to take on certain roles, maintaining boundaries, acknowledging client strengths, and prioritizing self-care to avoid burnout and ensure the best outcomes.

Competitive Matrix and Analysis
Organization Annual Dues Number of Members
Pi Sigma Epsilon $75 42
Delta Sigma Pi $140 85
Alpha Kappa Psi $115 88
Marketing Society $15 45
International Business Society $20 30
Delta Sigma Pi and Alpha Kappa Psi are both School of Business fraternities on campus. They directly compete with PSE due to the type of
experiences they offer, namely professional development opportunities and social bonding events. However, both of these fraternities are over
twice the size of PSE, with twice the cost of annual dues. They operate more similarly to traditional Greek organizations, with long rush
processes and high selectivity.
PSE, which is also housed in the School of Business, distinguishes itself by focusing specifically on opportunities provided through sales,
marketing and management. With fewer members, we differentiate ourselves as a more close knit group of students, and highlight our more
relaxed and welcoming recruitment process Our chapter also has more connections and opportunities through sponsorships, faculty relations,
and conferences that the other organizations may not offer. We also stress the opportunity to travel and network at PSE regional conferences
and national conventions.
Apart from the business fraternities, the the Marketing Society and International Business Society attract School of Business students. The
Marketing Society in particular targets the marketing student that PSE seeks to attract. However, despite both organizations’ business
orientation, they lack PSE’s fraternal environment, member camaraderie, and competition and conference opportunities.

Tradition
“Work hard, play hard” has become the adopted motto of the UConn chapter of PSE. As a professional development fraternity, we find it important to have a
balance of both career building events and social activities. We want our members to get the most out of their college years, while enjoying good company.
Our chapter has many traditions to keep our motto alive. From a professional standpoint our chapter hosts annual events throughout the year to give our
members a competitive advantage in the job market. This year we have again partnered with one of the PSE corporate sponsors to host the second annual
Altria case competition. We also traditionally have workshops on resume building, LinkedIn, and mock interviews to enhance our member’s job skills.
A great example of a tradition in keeping to our motto is our annual chapter Golf Tournament. This event gives our members the chance to spend a day out
on the course networking with company representatives from various corporate sponsors, while also having fun playing a game a golf. It is also our highest
earning fundraising event, with about $7000 in revenue.
A new tradition to the UConn chapter is a day of team building exercises on a ropes course. We have taken part in this activity at the beginning of the past
two semesters and have found it to be a huge success. It brings together new and old members together early in the semester, so we can create a cohesive
chapter that aligns with the brotherhood traditions of our fraternity culture.
Finally, informal initiation night is a proud tradition of the UConn chapter, where we take the new members on a scavenger hunt around campus to answer
riddles about PSE history. Every year we end the informal initiation at “The Rock,” where the entire chapter paints the rock in the traditional PSE colors of
amethyst and gold.
