The FBM KLCI index gained 2.44 points or 0.15% on Monday. The Finance Index increased 0.02%
to 14254.84 points, the Properties Index up 0.38% to 1164.55 points and the Plantation Index
rose 0.47% to 7566.93 points. The market traded within a range of 8.93 points between an intra-
day high of 1671.87 and a low of 1662.94 during the session.
Actively traded stocks include EAH, BORNOIL, FGV-C11, HIBISCS, BORNOIL-WC, FGV, HSI-C21,
THHEAVY, AAX and IFCAMSC. Trading volume decreased to 1699.24 mil shares worth RM1646.39
mil as compared to Friday’s 1890.37 mil shares worth RM1916.83 mil.
Leading Movers were MAXIS (+15 sen to RM6.20), AXIATA (+10 sen to RM5.80), GENTING (+10
sen to RM8.86), CIMB (+3 sen to RM4.29) and MISC (+5 sen to RM7.50). Lagging Movers were
PETCHEM (-17 sen to RM6.52), SKPETRO (-2 sen to RM1.44), WPRTS (-4 sen to RM4.25), YTL (-1
sen to RM1.69) and HLFG (-8 sen to RM15.06). Market breadth was positive with 401 gainers as
compared to 392 losers.
The KLCI erased its midday losses by ending higher at 1670.84 points despite mixed performance
in Wall Street on last Friday. The performance of our local bourse was lifted by buying interest in
heavy weight counters such as Maxis and Axiata.
