shophouse that was already demolished. You may have to do a bit of searching to find it.

The Bruce Lee Cat Mural, officially called The Real Bruce Lee Would Never Do This, is the third of
twelve cat murals painted by ASA, Artists for Stray Animals, for the 101 Lost Kittens project. It shows
two stray cats being delivered a kick from the kungfu legend, one of which was sent flying.This mural
can be found behind a building at Ah Quee Street, George Town (or more specifically, behind the
‘motorcyclist boy mural‘ and ‘dying art‘ building).
The mural was not intended for people to emulate, but rather to remind the public to treat the stray
cats well. A notice is placed under it stating its title in three languages, Malay, English and Chinese,
saying that the real Bruce Lee never did this to cats.

ASA, Artists for Stray Animals
The cat murals and installations, collectively known as “101 Lost Kittens”, are the work of ASA, short for Artists for Stray
Animals and were created back in 2013 in conjunction with George Town Festival 2013.
Initiated by LASSie (Langkawi Animal Shelter and Sanctuary Foundation), a non-profit which receives, rehabilitates and
cares for neglected, abused and needy animals, the 12 pieces were produced by Malaysian artists Tang Yeok Khang
and Louise Low, and Thai artist Natthaton Muangkliang.
The artists’ objective was to use art as a medium to create social awareness drawing attention to the plight of stray cats
and dogs, but it’s also a great way to encourage visitors and locals to discover the back lanes of the UNESCO World
Heritage Site listed city . As the murals were painted using environmentally friendly that is expected to wash off in
another year, you had better get spotting before it disappears.

Tang Yeok Khang, born in 1975. Being a landscape designer turns full time professional artist need tremendous
amount of courage. His action speaks volume of his lifetime interest in fine art which started during his early
teens. At the tender age of 14, he sold his first painting.
His confident of his creative talent saw his style, method and presentation mature through the years and finally to
be what he is today. From his works of landscape with watercolor during his early years to using primary color as
expression, his workmanship on each of his work is labor of love. Each of his creation comes through a process of
documented scene, life, ideas and delivery which might be lengthy at time. For him every piece is a subject that
is dear to his heart.

10. Louise Low Suek Loo
Louise Low Seok Loo , currently 32 year old was born
in 1984 at Kuala Lumpur. She was famous for her bra
art. She uses thousands of bra cups to form
sculptures and cover other objects. Her shark called
Fatal Attraction was the centerpiece of an exhibit last
year in George Town, Malaysia. These bra works form
her attempt to combat a superstition about women's
underwear. The New Straits Times explains that the
artwork took about one month to complete with the
purpose to educate society particularly the younger
generation among the Chinese community, against
superstition. In Chinese culture, the women’s
undergarment was believed to bring bad luck when
displayed indiscriminately.

13. Description of Mural Art
Feed the Stray is a mural in George Town, Penang. It follows on the success of other street art that
began with the steel-rod sculptures for Marking George Town and culminating with the murals by
Ernest Zacharevic. The mural of a dog with its mouth open to receive meat was painted by artist Kenji
Chai. According to Mr Chai, the dog is called chaigo, meaning stray in Chinese.
Kenji Chai painted this dog as he was born in the year of the dog. He drew his inspiration from a dog
that died on the road and also from stray dogs that nobody wanted. So he is highlighting their plight
through his murals. According to Mr Chai, the piece which he call "The Dog with Meat" is originally
known as "Feed the Stray". He painted it on the wall so that the general public can interact with the
mural. The "Feed the Stray" mural graces a wall across from the Bruce Lee Cat mural by 101 Lost
Kittens.

NAME: KENJI CHAI
Kenji Chai was born and raised in the city of
simplicity, Sandakan, Sabah and currently lives in
Kuala Lumpur. He was bred on comics, cartoons
and storybooks from an early age and spent his
days rummaging into these worlds of imagination.
His works includes the use of cute and vibrant
characters with his main medium being graffiti ,
which combining elements of pop culture, fictional
censorship, and a positive mental attitude, in all
he creates layered scenes of mischief!

Ernest Zalcharevic
Ernest Zacharevic or better known as ZACHAS in the art
world, is a 28-year-old, Lithuaninan native who studied his
way through life, but discovered street art and is now rather
permanently based in Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia. He
started out young, scribbling with crayons on his dad’s
newspaper, which then transformed into art school in his
hometown, Vilnius, Lithuania. After he graduated, he went to
art academy to study graphic arts. ZACHAS found the
experience too conservative and too much of a replication of
his art school time. That is why he decided to move to
London. His motive to move was that he wanted to separate
from his parents and experience new cultures, perspectives
and meet new people.

19. Description of Mural Art
He worked on a project for Butter & Beans,
a small cafe owned by his close friend in a
quiet, residential part of Petaling Jaya,
Malaysia. Like many of his outdoor pieces,
he adds a dash of whimsy by mixing painting
with actual objects.

My interpretation on the art
- it takes time to brew some tea. With certain techniques to make a good cup of tea, it took time.
- When a person offered you a cup of tea, it could mean that person is being polite and want to
make friends. Also, it could mean that that person is appreciated the friendship between you and
him/her.

The mural art showed that a squirrel is hoarding the nuts in a safe and
hidden place(often bury them). The nuts were stored for later
consumption.
