A Case of Adolescent Depression and Attempted Suicide Emily is 15-year-old girl from a middle-class Caucasian background who had a history of depression during her childhood. She had periods of low mood, poor self-esteem, and social withdrawal. She also had symptoms of anxiety and was very reluctant to leave her home. During her year in the seventh grade, she became so fearful of going to school that she missed so many days she had to repeat the grade. She currently is in the eighth grade and has, to this point, missed a great deal of school. Her family became very concerned over Emily’s low mood and isolation, so they enrolled her in an out-patient treatment program for depression, anxiety episodes, and eating disorders. Her depression continued, and she became more isolated, lonely, and depressed and would not leave her room even for meals. One day her grandmother found her in their car in the garage with the engine running in an effort to end her life. Emily was admitted into an inpatient treatment program following her serious suicide attempt.
There is a history of psychiatric problems, particularly mood disorders, in her family. Her mother has been hospitalized on three occasions for depression. Her maternal grandfather, now deceased, was hospitalized at one time following a manic depressive episode.
In the early phases of her hospitalization, Emily underwent an extensive psychological and psychiatric evaluation. She was administered a battery of tests, including the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory for Adolescents (MMPI-A). She was cooperative with the evaluation and provided the assessment staff with sufficient information regarding her mood and attitudes to assist in developing a treatment program.
Emily showed many symptoms of a mood disorder in which both depression and anxiety were prominent features. The psychological evaluation indicated that she was depressed, anxious, and felt unable to deal with the school stress that her condition prompted. Moreover, her physical appearance and eating behavior suggested the strong likelihood of anorexia nervosa. Emily showed an extreme degree of social introversion on several measures and acknowledged her reticence at engaging in social interactions. Ironically, homelessness itself a kind of mental torture which automatically creates distress in a person's mind and bitterness about life. A person without having shelter feels uncomfortable; unsatisfied with his life that he cannot feed his family, even the state's policies are not fair enough to support homeless families. Here, in this paper, we discuss child homelessness which is a great threat to child health in terms of mental distress and academic performance (Vostanis, 1998). In a recent survey, there were 1.4 million children experienced homelessness worldwide, about 75% of children experienced homelessness by doubling-up with other families. On the other hand, 15% of children were in shelters, hotels/motels percentage calculated as 7%, and those were who didn't have shelter to live were 4%. The data has been collected from 2016-17 survey regarding measuring the child homelessness in all over the world according to which appropriate measures could be taken to ensure the provision of shelters, homes, education to homeless children effectively and efficiently. The data mentioned above is being reported from two sources, i.e. school districts required to report based on the number of homeless students they serve. In contrast, others belong to the consensus of federally funded homeless shelters and temporary housing programs conducted by the U.S. Department of Housing and urban development.

Furthermore, the most important thing noticed during this survey is that overall child homelessness affects the mental health of the children and their academic performance. Abstract
Different disorders are suffered by human beings and more so in their childhood. These disorders range from psychological disorders to psychological disorders. Learning disorders are among disorders that can be seen in a child during their stage of development. There are different types of learning disorders, as will be discussed in this paper. This paper tackles each of these disorders differently to offer deep insight into each. For the clear scope of each disorder, this paper covers what causes each of these disorders, probable signs and symptoms, treatment, and the role of patients towards the management of each disorder.

History of learning disorders
The history of learning disorders among children dates to the 1860s, although the concept had to wait a century later for its proper development. After this century was over, the concept started popping up, and it was clearer how people understand it differently from the past decade. It was in 1960 when educators and doctors started realizing that there was a challenge of learning among children, and they started to act. The development and acknowledgment of this disorder were done from 1960 up to 1980, and this is where another trend was realized concerning learning disabilities. However, there were inclusion classes that were developed in this time frame because people had not yet gained relevant insight on how to help such children. Between the 1980s to 1990s, measures were being developed on how to help those children who might be suffering from learning disorders. The development was very well impacted and entirely reviewed, and in the early 1990s, the IDEA was developed to stand for the educational rights of children with disabilities. To study the different learning challenges among children, the concept of science was brought in from 2000 up to present. This has been necessary because it has enabled studying different types of learning disorders among children and, consequently, how each can be addressed (last name of author, year of publication).

Schizophrenia is a psychotic disorder in which personal, social, and occupational functioning deteriorate as a result of unusual perceptions, odd thoughts, disturbed emotions, and motor abnormalities. Hallucinations are another huge thing that a person with schizophrenia deals with which are the experiencing of sights, sounds, smells, and other perceptions that occur in the absence of external stimuli. These can happen for a number of reasons like constant migraines to deprivation. This can normally begin noticeable between the person’s late teens and mid- thirties. Along with the impulse control and speech issues, this disorder can make one feel lost. Behind years of research on studying this disorder, this is mainly a biological disorder, and many people will see this disorder and label the people as "Crazy" when it can be implemented by a dysfunctional brain circuit. This disorder should be taken more seriously by people, especially when someone suffering from it can put themselves or others in danger. There is robust evidence on the influence of parenting styles on children and adolescents academic achievement. Based on Baumrind’s model of parenting styles, the majority of studies conclude that the authoritative parenting style is the most efficient to enhance academic achievement, in contrast to authoritarian and permissive parenting styles that are most commonly associated with academic achievement in a negative direction. However, there is an important line of research that indicates that culture plays a crucial role in the relation between parenting and academic success and that Baumrind´s model may not always fit the parenting styles observed in non-western societies.

The construction and the dissemination of cross-cultural knowledge’s are essential in order to break through received ideas and misconceptions. Majority and minority world traditions in the psychological sciences. Science is a tool into the hands of the ruling classes who ask questions, determine objects of study and choose attractive notions [1].
In that respect, the mainstream psychology inherited a double cultural halo effect, at the expense of “minorities” (or the dominated groups, who actually represent the majority) [2]. First, from an intercultural point of view, the global preponderance of western culture tend to present western school of thinking as “natural” and universal [3-5]. This ethnocentric vision is consistent with colonialist history of the 19-20th century. Thus, most of scientific theories –not only in psychology, but in social and human sciences at large– assume an individualistic point of view where individual factors explain behaviour [6]. Yet, in most cultures, the sense of self is mostly nested in the relationship with the social and the metaphysical environment [7-10].
Secondly, from an intracultural point of view, studies are mainly conducted with sampled from WEIRD (white, educated, industrialized, rich, developed) countries, typically with young, educated and white individuals, from which results are generalized to the global population [11]. Historically, this western approach occurred when psychology claimed the status of exact science, developing a positivist vision relying on validated concepts and instruments. Wilhelm Wundt (1832-1920), the founder of the first pioneering psychological laboratory in Leipzig in 1879, laid the first stone of a “genuinely empirical” psychology, physiology-related but purposely completely disconnected from the social reality [12,13]. Marking a shift from general to applied psychology, but still relying on the same empirical standpoint, William Stern (1871-1938) introduced the notion of intelligence quotient and coined the term “psycho-technical” to refer to “a technical science, related to causal psychology as engineering is related to physics” (Miinsterberg 1914, cited in [14]). His work did not explore the social structuration but, rather posed the “national nature” as immutable and definitely established [1]. For instance, the intelligence tests do not consider the environmental impact of formation and learning. The plasticity of human nature, the structuration through environment, the lability of psychological trait was denied [1].

Recomendações da OMS sobre cuidados maternos e neonatais para uma experiência pós-natal positiva.
Em consonância com os ODS – Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável e a Estratégia Global para a Saúde das Mulheres, Crianças e Adolescentes, e aplicando uma abordagem baseada nos direitos humanos, os esforços de cuidados pós-natais devem expandir-se para além da cobertura e da simples sobrevivência, de modo a incluir cuidados de qualidade.
Estas diretrizes visam melhorar a qualidade dos cuidados pós-natais essenciais e de rotina prestados às mulheres e aos recém-nascidos, com o objetivo final de melhorar a saúde e o bem-estar materno e neonatal.
Uma “experiência pós-natal positiva” é um resultado importante para todas as mulheres que dão à luz e para os seus recém-nascidos, estabelecendo as bases para a melhoria da saúde e do bem-estar a curto e longo prazo. Uma experiência pós-natal positiva é definida como aquela em que as mulheres, pessoas que gestam, os recém-nascidos, os casais, os pais, os cuidadores e as famílias recebem informação consistente, garantia e apoio de profissionais de saúde motivados; e onde um sistema de saúde flexível e com recursos reconheça as necessidades das mulheres e dos bebês e respeite o seu contexto cultural.
Estas diretrizes consolidadas apresentam algumas recomendações novas e já bem fundamentadas sobre cuidados pós-natais de rotina para mulheres e neonatos que recebem cuidados no pós-parto em unidades de saúde ou na comunidade, independentemente dos recursos disponíveis.
É fornecido um conjunto abrangente de recomendações para cuidados durante o período puerperal, com ênfase nos cuidados essenciais que todas as mulheres e recém-nascidos devem receber, e com a devida atenção à qualidade dos cuidados; isto é, a entrega e a experiência do cuidado recebido. Estas diretrizes atualizam e ampliam as recomendações da OMS de 2014 sobre cuidados pós-natais da mãe e do recém-nascido e complementam as atuais diretrizes da OMS sobre a gestão de complicações pós-natais.
O estabelecimento da amamentação e o manejo das principais intercorrências é contemplada.

The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will provide insight into new directions in targeted therapeutic approaches for older adults with mantle cell lymphoma.
STATEMENT OF NEED
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare, aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) accounting for 5% to 7% of all lymphomas. Its prognosis ranges from indolent disease that does not require treatment for years to very aggressive disease, which is associated with poor survival (Silkenstedt et al, 2021). Typically, MCL is diagnosed at advanced stage and in older patients who cannot tolerate intensive therapy (NCCN, 2022). Although recent advances have slightly increased remission rates, recurrence and relapse remain very common, leading to a median overall survival between 3 and 6 years (LLS, 2021). Though there are several effective options, progress is still needed towards establishing an accepted frontline approach for MCL (Castellino et al, 2022). Treatment selection and management of MCL are complicated by the heterogeneity of prognosis, advanced age and comorbidities of patients, and lack of an established standard approach for treatment, making it vital that clinicians be familiar with the latest research and advances in this area. In this activity chaired by Michael Wang, MD, Professor in the Department of Lymphoma & Myeloma at MD Anderson Cancer Center, expert faculty will discuss prognostic factors informing treatment, the promising results of recent trials in new therapeutic approaches, and the implications of treatment resistance in therapeutic selection for MCL.

1. Enuresis: The Hidden Problem

Abstract
Nocturnal enuresis is one of the most disabling conditions for both parents and children. Many children
and their families are suffering this problem in their life. This can be a frustrating problem for children,
entire family and the health care providers Gerson [1]. This can have a deep effect on children or
adolescent’s’ behavior, emotional well-being and social life Hagglof [2]. It is one of the most common
and chronic problems in childhoods and adolescents. Due to the nature of the problem, many parents
and children are very reluctant to talk about the problem and seek help for that. Because of that, many
children and adolescents suffer silently and cannot talk about their problems and seek solutions.
Contrary to popular believe, this problem is not only specific to low social economic classes or developing
countries. This can be observed in all over classes, nations, cultures and ethnic origins.

The problem of enuresis is as old as human history. There are written articles goes back
as early as 1940, Miller [3] wrote about the bedwetting problem and later Hallgren [4] wrote
about nocturnal enuresis and etiologic aspects of the problem. Since then there has been
numerous publications about this topic and treatment solutions. Now, the scientific literature
has accumulated huge amount of information, which provide very rich insights about the
problem at hand. In fact, the enuresis happens in two distinct types, one-day time enuresis
and the other one is while the children are sleeping, this type is called Nocturnal Enuresis. The
child would wet the bed without knowing it, or without realizing it during the sleeping time.
The wetting usually happens in the first 2 hours of the sleep, or sometimes this can happen
more than once during a nighttime period.
A general description of nocturnal enuresis is: bedwetting is involuntary voiding the
urine in the night during the sleep at the age 5 years or older Neveus [5]. DSM-IV-R APA [6]
also requires the age of 5 or older along with at least 2 nights of bedwetting, and free of
congenital or central nervous system problems. Before the age 5, is somehow considered as
a developmental issue and viewed more tolerantly. Nevertheless, after the age of 6, children
should be ready to seek some serious medical help and it is time for that Jackson [7].
Even though the prevalence rates of enuresis declines with age, it seems that in some
cases it continues until further ages. Those after the age 10, are seems to be more severe and
chronic cases. The majority of the cases continue throughout adolescence are very severe
cases. Studies from different part of world shows that bedwetting is a universal phenomenon
and independent of their cultural context (Butler & Heron, 2008). There are other authors
from East and West believes that, the prevalence rates and occurrences are very similar, and it
happens every place regardless of culture and racial background De Sousa [8].
At age 5, 7% male and 3% females are enurectic, at age, 10; 3% of males and 2% females
are enurectic. On the other hand, at the age of 18, about 1% of males and less than 1% females
suffer from enuresis Weintraub et al. [9]. In the same study, they found that obese males are
16 times more likely to suffer from enuresis than normal weight females.
Itisnotclearifthe“chickenformtheeggoreggfromthechicken”.Unfortunately,bedwetting
is mistakenly seen as a “psychological” problem, which leads to further discrimination.
Actually, in most cases the casual factor is a urinary infection or lack of antidiuretic hormone
during the sleeping time Glass [10].
