This document summarizes a study that used computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling to simulate the operation of a single slope passive solar still and compare the simulation results to experimental data. The researchers created a detailed 3D model of the solar still in ANSYS Workbench and ran simulations in FLUENT under conditions matching real-world experiments. The temperatures predicted by the CFD model closely matched those observed in experiments, validating the model's accuracy. While some small differences occurred between the simulated and experimental results, the CFD data was able to reliably predict water output and heat transfer efficiency. This study demonstrates how CFD simulations can provide insight into improving the efficiency of passive solar desalination.
