2. Introduction We created our survey based off of problems within the book itself and other questions that we believed you may be curious about to how you relate with other students within our school. An easy way to show this is the bar graphs on the next slides which will compare the true vs. false for each question. Following that is a comparison of our results and the book Twisted.
6. TwistedBy: Laurie Halse Anderson Based on the research collected from the survey, it can be compared with and against this book in many ways. For question #6, we asked students if they have ever been or are currently in a relationship only to help their social status. In the book Twisted, Hannah, Tyler’s sister is mainly with Yoda because he’s older and has a car. She thinks this will help her look cool in front of her friends. Only 3 people out of 100 said they have been in a relationship like this, so this isn’t very realistic. For question #13, we asked students if they would ever take advantage of someone if they were drunk. 15 students out of 100 said they would. In Twisted, Tyler has the opportunity to take advantage of Bethany, but decides against it.
7. Twisted… Continued For question #14, we asked students if physical appearance affects who they have an interest in. 79 students out of 100 said it did. In the beginning of the book, the thing that Tyler first noticed about Bethany was her appearance. For question #15, we asked students if they had ever acted differentley in order to have a chance with someone. 68 students out of 100 said they have NOT. When Tyler first starts talking to Bethany, he is constantly second guessing his actions and trying to act “cool” instead of just being himself.
8. Conclusion We chose to do this because we enjoy talking to people and seeing peoples different views on relationships. Thank you for all who participated in the survey and we hope you enjoyed our presentation. Hopefully you got something out of our project and learned more about relationships.
