A personal pronoun is a short word we use as a simple substitute for the proper name of a person. Each of the English personal pronouns shows us the grammatical person, gender, number, and case of the noun it replaces. I, you, he, she, it, we, they, me, him, her, us, and them are all personal pronouns.

3. 1. Personal Pronoun – replaces the name of a person in a sentence.( I,my,
she, he, her)
Example: Clarise is smart. She is good in everything.
Three types of personal pronoun
a. Subject Pronoun – takes the place of the noun as the subject in a
sentence.
Ex: Clarence is a good artist in this generation. He is kind and smart.
b. Object Pronoun – takes the place of the direct or indirect object of
the verb.
Ex: Mrs. Dela Cruz disability didn’t keep her from helping people.
c. Possessive Pronoun – takes the place of the noun to show
ownership in a sentence.
Ex: The book that her mother bought is hers.
4. 2. Demonstrative Pronoun – direct someone to the object you are talking about.
Point to specific objects (that,this,those,these)
3. Interrogative Pronoun – asking questions
Who (to ask which person do the action)
Whose (use to find out which person owns the object)
Whom (used to ask which person received the actions)
What and Which (used to ask questions about objects or ideas)
4. Compound Words – two words that is combined together to form a new word.
3 different ways of compound words.
a. Closed compound words – two words joined together forming a single word.
b. Open compound words – written as two separate words
c. Hypenated compound words – two or more words joined together by a hypen.
5. 5. Descriptive Adjective – words that describe the characteristics of a noun such as size, shape
and color.
6. Limiting Adjective – points out and sets the limit of a noun. It answer the questions: Which
one?, What kind?, Whose?, How many?

6. Cause and Effect
cause – the reason why something happened. (because, if,
since)
effect – the result of the cause ( so, as a result, that is why)
Example:
1. Mr. German returned the clutch bag that is why the owner was
really glad.
2. The foreigner was thankful to him because he did not spend the
money that is not his.
3. Raul look for the owner of the money, so the girl has money to
pay for her field trip.
