An English Project By Rich Weber
“Making everyday count” I was recently asked to create a presentation based off of some of my own life advice. This advice had to involve “Making everyday count” which is from The Last Lecture, our summer reading assignment.
So I thought and I thought… but, all I could think about was the fact that I am merely 15 years old. What kind of life advice could a 15 year old have? This earth has been around for billions of years, and I am expected to have life advice after 15 years on it?
Despite that fact of only having been here for 15 short years, I managed to think of a one word piece of advice that I would like to share with you today.
Listen. That’s the advice I came up with after procrastinating on this project for days and days. But, if you really take time to think about it, and analyze it, you may just understand why I picked this one simple word to use as life advice.
Listen. It can mean a lot of different things, but how about we start with the basics. Shall we?Music is a big part of this advice for me, because as you probably know, I am a musician and being so, I feel like a have a higher appreciation for music when I listen to it. Music is an escape from the world for most people, it allows them to slow down and appreciate life for what it is. Which is a great example of how we can make everyday count by listening. And if you are one unfortunate person who does not listen to music, well, you’re missing out big time.
Listen The further I thought I came up with what I believe is the best use of this advice Listen to your superiors. Whether that means parents, teachers, or bosses, they all have a huge significance and I think that by listening to all of them, a person can do great things, since all of those people are influential on all of us at some point or another. So keep listening, or you might miss it.
To show how important that last slide was, I can use a personal example. This project. Over the past week we have had to work on it I have procrastinated and procrastinated like crazy and if I had listened to my mom a long time ago when she said “Don’t procrastinate” then maybe I wouldn’t have been in such a hurry to get this presentation done
Listen.I think that there is also a part to this advice that is very unexpected but in my opinion, it applies very well Give someone a person to listen to. It doesn’t matter if you’re showing someone a new band, or teaching them, or giving them orders, it’s always a good thing to have someone to listen to, and if we can give someone to listen to, then we are making an impact on their lives in someway, even if we don’t know it, and that can be taken as “Making everyday count”
It is short, sweet, and to the point. But I know from person experience that this advice will get you extremely far if it is used to its fullest extent
The end.
So listen. And you will do well in life.
