Introduction
Thesis: Both Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs are well-known successful entrepreneurs in the
world, but behind these two world-recognized successful person, their success depends on their
personalities, inspirations, regrets and relationships.

Most of the movies nowadays are based on true stories which features the stories of
successful individuals, for example, Jobs, which is based on the real stories of Steve Jobs, the
founder of Apple company and also The Social Network, that is the story of Facebook founder,
Mark Zuckerberg. Both Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs are well-known successful
entrepreneurs in the world, but behind these two world-recognized successful person, their
success depends on their personalities, inspirations, regrets and relationships.
Both of them have similar personalities, which are passionate and confidence. For Mark
Zuckerberg, he is passionate in creating website which he also believe will make into big hit
even though he was going through a six month academic probation because he brought down the
Harvard’s university network when he first created the FaceMash website. He can always get
ideas from daily activities and conversations, these ideas help him to add on different features to
improve his website which act as a social platform. He is also confidence about the
authentication of his own website, he fought for his own copyright when he was accused by the
Winklevoss twins for intellectual property theft. Similarly, Steve Jobs also pull full confidence
when he was promoting the Apple II computer on the West Coast Computer Faire, that’s the
time where Apple computer went popular. His ongoing passion motivates him to improve
computer and also Macintosh, for once, he fired one of the employee for not appreciating the
investment, he wants his employees to be as passionate as him in doing their work.

5. To be inspired to inspire. Entrepreneurs also need inspiration to motivate them to achieve
their own goals. After Zuckerberg broke up with his girlfriend, Albright, he blogged about his
ex-girlfriend and created a website, FaceMash, for male students to rate the attractiveness of the
female undergraduates, the network traffic was so busy until it brought down the Harvard’s
university network. And there was once, a guy asked Zuckberg if he knew where a girl lives and
her relationship status, this inspired him to add on the personal details slot in the social network
website, the daily activities and conversations inspired him to keep on adding different features
into the website. On the other hand, Jobs was inspired by his friend, Wozhiak, who created
Apple I, to start off his new company at his family garage. Soon, with the help of Wozhiak, Jobs
figured out that they can connect keyboard with the motherboard, they tried out things together,
recruit new members and inspired each other in their daily lives.
In life there must be ups and downs and there will also be some regrets. Zuckerberg was
drunk and he blogged about his ex-girlfriend, talked bad about her, he was regretful on what he
did and he felt sorry. In the final scene, he added her as friend on Facebook, but when he kept
refreshing the page, there were no signs of any approval. His best friend, Saverin, who is the
financial support of Zuckerberg’s project was kicked out of Facebook’s company, this was a trap
set up by Zuckerberg and his new partner, Sean Parker, founder of Napster as a revenge for
freezing the bank account of this project. In the end, he gave him an unknown settlement and
restore Saverin’s title as the co-founder. Likewise, Jobs was also facing a similar problem which
he was kicked out from Apple’s company by the partner he brought in, Sculley, whom he
thought might be a great partner, which turns out to be the worst decision he had made. During

6. the earlier times, he worked with his own team on Apple Lisa project, but ended up kicked out
by the board and was sent to Macintosh group.
All along the successful path, relationships problems are something we will commonly
face. Zuckerberg’s best friend, Saverin was set up by Zuckerberg and Parker to have his share of
the company diluted from a third to less than one tenth of one percent, while all the other parties
maintained the ownership percentage, he confronted Jobs and decided to sue him for removing
his title, that is when their friendship comes to an end. Albright, the ex-girlfriend of Zuckerberg
never forgive him until the end of the movie because he blogged bad about her and did not
realize that it was his fault. When Apple started to bloom, Jobs was busy and he started to distant
himself from his roommate, Kottoke because now Jobs sees his project as a product not a goal
like old times anymore. When Jobs knew that his high school girlfriend, Chris-Ann Brennan was
pregnant, he broke up with her and also refuse to admit his own child, Lisa.
Success consists of going through failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm. Mark
Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs is able to achieve their success which is because of their
personalities, inspiration, regrets and relationship problems, these selected personalities and
events led them towards their path of success which we ordinary individual might not be able to
achieve in life. These movies are really inspiring since they let us know the story behind the
biggest entrepreneurs, their lives are full of obstacles and their perseverance is the key to
success.
