Financing Sustainable Energy - the Annualisation MethodLeonardo ENERGY
Evaluating investment decisions in sustainable energy typically requires a comparison between initial capital cost with annual revenues. This is normally done through the Net Present Value method, a best practice in engineering-economic analysis.
This minute lecture proposes an alternative but equivalent method of annualising the initial capital investment and comparing it with annual revene streams, either from production of renewable energy, or from cost reductions through energy savings.
The result is a highly intuitive approach comparing annual revenues and costs in engineering-economic rather than accounting terms.
Alternative Energy for Permaculturists. Choosing the right alternative energy...DiegoFooter
This talk will guide attendees through a decision-making framework on how to design regenerative energy plans in line with the ethics of Permaculture, while working within the confines of what Mother Nature will provide. Attendees will walk away from this talk with the knowledge on how to confidently choose the most appropriate alternative energy solution(s) for a given project.
While solar and wind routinely take center-stage, a handful of other — albeit lesser known — alternative energy technologies exist. Factors to consider are project location, climate, biome, and context (i.e. budget, goals, expectations, etc.). Based on this data, some alternative energy technologies will be deemed as “appropriate,” while others will not. For instance, biomass gasification, as a primary energy source, makes little sense in Phoenix, Arizona. However, it may likely be the primary — or even sole — technology for someone living in Missoula, Montana.
The key to crafting a decentralized, sustainable, and regenerative energy plan, is in knowing the rules of thumb for the major systems, and having a basic understanding of the “constants” in nature, whether that be wind speed profile, energy crop yields, or angles of the sun at different times of the year.
The global transition from fossil fuels to renewable sources of energy will be challenging. Our current economy depletes natural resources and pollutes the environment. It can, however, be designed to provide prosperity and abundance without pollution. And although there is no singular replacement for fossil fuels, a combination of all appropriate technologies, properly applied, can effectively provide energy and fuel to all people and all places on this planet.

How green standards are changing data center design and operationsSchneider Electric
An effort is underway to harmonize certain energy-efficiency standards. Could global standardization ultimately diminish the technical effectiveness of such standards? Which will emerge as the de facto standards? This session will explore these questions, as well in data center efficiency and sustainability guidelines.

Purpose of Assignment
Students should understand how to use the financial information and tools learned in the class on a public company, obtain public company SEC reports, and use that data to calculate a company's financial ratios and their comparison to industry or competitor standards.
Assignment Steps
Resources: Tutorial help on Excel® and Word functions can be found on the Microsoft® Office® website. There are also additional tutorials via the web that offer support for office products.
Select one of the publicly traded corporations listed below and obtain the most current SEC Form 10-K (annual financial report) from the company's web site (Do not use the Annual Report that is sent to shareholders):
· Lowes Corporation
· Kroger Corporation
· Harley Davidson Corporation
· Apple Corporation
· Intel Corporation
· Marriott Corporation My choice.
· Berkshire Hathaway Corporation
· PepsiCo Corporation
· Procter and Gamble Corporation
· General Electric Corporation
Calculate and analyze the following ratios for your selected company for the last two years from the SEC Form 10-K:
· Current Ratio
· Inventory Turnover
· Debt Ratio
· Time Interest Earned
· Gross Profit Margin
· Equity Multiplier
· Return on Assets
· Net Profit Margin
· Return on Equity (Use three ratio DuPont method)
Compare and contrast your company's ratios to industry and competitor standard ratios obtained from Yahoo Finance, Morningstar, MotleyFool, Macroaxis or other Internet sources, and provide a detailed answer and analysis as to why your company's ratios are different than the industry/competitor standard.
Prepare your analysis in a minimum of 875 words in Microsoft® Word. The use of Microsoft® Word tables is encouraged.
Cite the source of the industry/competitor ratio information.
Format your assignment consistent with APA guidelines.

BSC Flexibility & the Customer Perspective
For Module 2, consider your organization's mission and strategy from the perspective of its potential, prospective, and present customers. In this section of the assignment you’ll begin to identify objectives and measures relevant to that perspective. Refer back to this presentation on objectives if you need to. SLP Assignment Expectations
Once you’re reasonably clear on what’s involved, think about your organization and its customers/clients/users/service recipients/whatever-you-wish-to-call-them, and then:Identify at least three objectives for the organization's customer service perspective and show how they relate to the mission, vision and strategy of the organization. For each objective, develop at least one meaningful performance measure (metric). For each objective, identify at least one expected level of performance (target). For each objective, identify at least one new action or program that needs to be developed to ensure successful implementation of the organization's strategy (initiative).Comment bri ...

Save Energy
If you haven’t already, set up an account in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager to start benchmarking your building. Benchmarking will help you identify underperforming buildings to target for cost-effective measures and help you verify reductions from energy-saving efforts.
Conduct a Treasure Hunt
The first step to saving energy in your building is to start by looking. During an Energy Treasure Hunt, teams walk around a facility looking for quick ways to save energy. Those quick fixes can add up to big savings. Hundreds of organizations have used Energy Treasure Hunts to reduce their facilities’ energy use by 15 percent or more.
Ways to Save
Start saving with no- and low-cost approaches, and then use savings to pay for more extensive upgrades:
Upgrade your lighting. If your building relies on inefficient lighting, such as incandescent, halogen, HID, or T12 fluorescent, you’re missing out on significant savings. Updating your lighting can be a great first step when it comes to making your building an efficient one.
Operations & maintenance best practices. Efficient building operation reduces operating costs, maintains comfort, and extends equipment lifetime, all without significant capital investment.
Checklists of energy-saving measures. These checklists include energy-saving measures that can be implemented at no or low cost, or with rapid payback.
Energy-efficient products. Purchasing efficient products reduces energy costs without compromising quality. Learn more about ENERGY STAR certified products, estimate potential savings, and specify them in your purchasing policies and contracts.
Energy-saving competitions. Competitions can be a great way to motivate your team to find new efficiencies, engage occupants in your efforts, and multiply savings across your portfolio – all while helping the environment.
Building upgrades. Maximize your financial and energy savings by taking a staged approached to building upgrades that accounts for energy flows among systems.
Water, waste, and renewable energy. Check out EPA resources to expand your sustainability work to reduce water use, manage waste and materials, or purchase or install renewable energy.
Find Expert Help
EPA’s network of service and product providers (SPPs) have partnered with ENERGY STAR to offer you expert help with energy management when you need it. Many also offer innovative financing options and can help you identify, prioritize, and implement energy projects that not only cut costs and offset emissions, but can make your building more comfortable, too.
Evaluate the Economics of Energy Efficiency Projects
Making the business case for energy efficiency-related capital expense requires economic analysis. EPA provides several tools to help evaluate the economics of an energy efficiency project.
Welcome to the Program Your Destiny course. In this course, we will be learning the technology of personal transformation, neuroassociative conditioning (NAC) as pioneered by Tony Robbins. NAC is used to deprogram negative neuroassociations that are causing approach avoidance and instead reprogram yourself with positive neuroassociations that lead to being approach automatic. In doing so, you change your destiny, moving towards unlocking the hypersocial self within, the true self free from fear and operating from a place of personal power and love.
