Energy Star is an international standard for energy efficient consumer products that was created in the United States in 1992. It has since been adopted by several other countries and regions. Devices with the Energy Star logo generally use 20-30% less energy than required by federal standards. Energy Star qualifications exist for computers, servers, appliances, heating and cooling systems, home electronics, lighting, home offices, and new homes. Buildings, industrial facilities, and other infrastructure can also be Energy Star rated.
