Energy and Power Essay
Energy and Power
Although I am surrounded by energy and power, I never really knew just how much they mean to the world. However, after learning about the
fundamentals of energy, I have a much deeper understanding of their magnitude. In this paper, I will reflect back on what I have learned about energy,
and how it has affected me personally. For instance, I know now that the power I am using to sit here and type is roughly equivalent to the power used
by an incandescent light bulb, but that is only the beginning.
Energy is all around us, but to create power, we need to harness it. I never thought about the fact that everything on earth has some type of energy, and
until this course I never even knew the six different types....show more content...
I never anticipated that the things I learned in just the first few weeks of this course would lead me to change my own daily activities. Reading about the
amounts of energy consumed in past years, and projections for the future, made me realize we need to start conserving now ("Environmental..." 2001).
When I learned how much energy the United States consumed in a single year in BTU's, I began conserving my energy much more than I used to. I
never knew that our country consumed more energy than is given off in the explosion of a hydrogen bomb ("Annual..."2004). Therefore, I am much
more careful about turning off my lights, conserving my heat, and taking shorter showers. I would much rather know that I am doing my part to
conserve the precious energy that we have, than know that I am lavishly wasting it. Until this course, I never would have understood the importance of
energy conservation, but being able to convert the amount of energy that I use into different medias, such as horsepower, watts and Calories, has
shown me just how much of a difference a single person can make (Texas, February 2005).
As a single student in EGEE 101, the knowledge I have gained so far has only affected me, and maybe a few of my closest friends. As a class, I believe
we can make a large difference, and as a campus, an even larger one. Learning new things about energy everyday

Essay on Energy Crisis
Energy Crisis
Energy is important to our nation for many reasons. It is a key economic driver. It offers new market opportunities for business. Providing energy to our
nation has been an exciting challenge in recent years. Many changes have been constant throughout that period. The past tells Americans that predicting
the specifics of the energy future for our nation with great accuracy would be unlikely. Americans get their energy from different types of resources.
With all the different resources Americans believe that an energy crunch shouldn't happen.
The crisis is a nationwide energy discontent in which natural gas rates have soared to the highest level in 15 years, and OPEC has slashed its oil
output again to keep...show more content...
More than half of the growth for natural gas, over the next 20 years, will come from the electric generation market. The use of natural gas in this
country could increase by more than a third in the next 20 years. In the electric power generation industry, natural gas could increase as much as 250
percent for power generation.
The United States now has two percent of the world's proven crude–oil reserves. Most of the American produced oil comes form old wells, where the
output declines over the years. Production costs are lower overseas, so it is cheaper to buy from OPEC nations than from many American suppliers.
Increasing energy supplies requires not only wells but new pipelines to transport oil and natural gas. In 1998, the United States consumed 9.8 million
more barrels of oil a day than it produced.
The economic miracles of the 20th century were powered by fossil fuels. The 21st century may be seen by an equally dramatic change from fossil
fuels, and the environmental chaos they brought. The result may be less than an energy revolution. The cost of fossil fuel energy produced is
comparable to that of electricity. A fuel cell cleanly and quietly combines oxygen and hydrogen to produce electricity. Fuel cells could one day sit in
thousands of basements producing power and hot water, without fossil fuels. Some fossil fuel lobbyists still argue that it will be difficult and
expensive to find an alternative to oil and coal.

solar energy Essay
Solar Energy
All life on Earth depends on energy from the sun. Solar energy is the source of
energy for photosynthesis. It provides the warmth necessary for plants and animals to
survive. Scientists have found a way to use God's natural light towards the advantage
of our daily lives. The affects of this idea revolutionary, results ofsolar power could
lead to a more modernized society and efficient economy.
Solar energy is a term that usually means the direct use of sunlight to produce
heat or electric power. Solar technology is improving rapidly. Someday, it may
provide a clean and abundant source of power. Solar energy is a very useful resource.
Today 80% of the energy we use comes from fossil fuels and about 1% comes...show more content...
Scientists have developed a
way to convert the energy absorbed by the sun in the daylight to a rechargeable
battery when night falls. So when the sun shines the next morning, it is a recycling
process.
However, even though solar power has its advantages, some scientists argue
it's Disadvantages. The sun's energy is plentiful, but it is thinly distributed over a
large area and must be collected and concentrated to produce usable power. As a
result, solar energy is a more expensive power source than fossil fuels for most
applications. On the other even though it may be more expensive its well worth it.
Deaths caused by sicknesses such as lung failure can quickly be cut in half. For, most
of the time people develop bad lungs by breathing in the pollutants lingering in the air
produced by cars, buses, and other types of automobiles. Solutions such as
carpooling were developed in order to decreased the amount driving cars but it
seemed ineffective. Solar power seems to be the only real logical solution. Picture
highway of automobiles in motion without inhaling any type of harmful chemical in
your body.
Ever since the dawn of time, the sun has been a resource we cannot live or do
without, so its not such a shock that man has come up with the idea of solar energy .
The ideas of solar energy dangerous and some, a very valuable asset

Importance Of Energy Efficiency Essay
Energy Efficiency
Humans today are using much more electricity than we need to in our houses and this is impacting our world more then we realise. Although
electricity is a huge advantage to humans it has the complete opposite effects on our environment. By using more electricity, we are using more of the
earth's resources and if we keep going down this road then we are going to run out. The solution for this mass overuse of energy is to build houses
which are more energy efficient. Features like LED lightbulbs, insulating and even positioning your house in the correct position for natural airflow
instead of using air conditioning are all ways we can help improve this problem.
What does energy efficiency mean?
"Energy efficiency means using less energy to provide the same service." An example of this is where a LED lightbulb uses less electrical energy than
a traditional incandescent lightbulb to produce the same amount of light. The phrase 'energy efficiency' can also be described as any kind of
energy–saving measure. (1)
How is electricity made?
In 1831, scientist Michael Farday discovered the first form of electricity. He found that when a magnet moved inside a copper coil it created what is
known as an electric current. This invention is known as a turbine generator. Even today, in full sized power stations this simple invention is still used
and works very effectively. These power stations create mass amounts of energy to turn the turbines. Most of the time the energy is made from the heat,
for example when coal is burned. More environmentally friendly power stations use wind or flowing water to turn these turbines. This is known as
renewable energy because it will not run out, unlike when oil and coal are used.(3)
How does the use of electricity impact our world?
Environmental Affects
Although humans use electricity for almost everything we do, we don't realise that this is harming our environment in many ways. The production of
electricity is causing a major loss of the earth's natural resources such as:
–Loss of coal and natural gases
–Deforestation for mining (loss of trees)
–Loss of habitat for rare and threatened species
Another environmental issue resulting from the production of electricity

Solar Energy Essay
Solar energy is better for the environment than energy derived from other sources. Even though it is the most difficult source of energy to channel,
solar energy can provide great amounts of resources for the environment as well as market venture, if proven effective. The fact that solar energy comes
from the sun, makes it the most desired source of energy. Withoutsolar energy, oxygen and food would be rare to find; mostly from the fact that the
sun brings forth all life on planet Earth. The idea that the sun itself could be a cash cow has those from environmental engineers to scientists trying to

The venture for solar energy first came into existence from Edmund Becquerel, a French physicist who observed and published findings about the
nature of materials to turn light into energy but sadly they were not pursued, until thirty years later when Auguste Mouchout was the first man to patent
a design for a motor running on solar energy. Charles Tellier, was also a Frenchman whose work in creating preserved foods through refrigeration,
experimented with a non–concentrating/non–reflecting solar motor. He installed the first solar energy system for heating household water on top of
his roof. Today, all across the world there is more focus in utilizing solar energy. As Becquerel, Mouchout and Teller were pioneers for advances in
the past, modern day has its shares of crafty inventors. Recently, a group of environmentalist in Oregon, lead by Mark Dixon called "Your
Environmental Road Trip" (YERT), are building the first solar roadways, in which they plan in the future will span to all fifty states. Dixon and his
crew by using solar energy to power highways are saving money for the state as well as the consumer. By using garbage from the local land fields to
generate the durability of asphalt, solar highways are able to sustain the pressures of vehicles with mass such as transferee trucks, while at the same
time creating storage space for solar energy. In an interview regarding how did he plan to revolutionize highways using solar energy, Dixon stated, "If

Different Types of Energy Essay
Energy Paper
There are many forms of energy. The types of energy that can affect the toy car are potential energy, kinetic energy, and work of friction. Potential is
the energy of an object due to its position. Kinetic energy is the energy due to motion. Friction plays a part because it shows how much energy is needed
for the car to move. All these energies are intertwined in the toy car.Potential energy is the energy that is stored in the toy car. When an object is not
moving the object has a mass potential of energy. There are also different types of potential energy i.e.: elastic, gravitational, hydroelectric, and
chemical (Demlin, 2000–2007). The type of potential energy that affected the toy car was gravitational potential...show more content...
Friction allows the car's wheels to spin across the floor without just sliding across the floor. Friction is also present in the gear box of the toy car.
Friction is present because the gears have to rotate against each other in order for the toy car to obtain potential energy. The toy car only produces
rolling friction, which is present when the wheels rotate against the floor. Rolling also appears in the gearbox. Friction while not energy affects the
energy in the toy car in two ways. Friction causes kinetic energy to be lost while the car is moving. Kinetic energy is lost when the wheels rotate
against the floor because the wheels are using kinetic energy to move. The energy is then lost when because of rolling friction heat is produced. In
a shorter sense the wheels because of friction convert some of the kinetic energy into thermal energy (heat). Energy is also lost when the gears in
the gear box rotate against each other. Some energy would be lost because of the friction of the gears some potential energy would be converted to
thermal energy affect making less potential energy available. While friction causes a loss to energy, rolling friction allows less work to be able to
overcome friction ("About Friction", 2003). Friction while not energy plays a part in both energies that affect the toy car. The toy has uses two main
energies, Kinetic and Potential. Potential energy is made by the pulling back of the car. Kinetic is made when after the car is

Essay about Renewable and Clean Energy
As these days global warming, pollutions and fuel shortages are getting more and more serious through time, renewable and clean energy is
increasingly the ideal solution to energy related problems we have to solve one way or another. Biofuel is currently one of the mainstream and
highly supported solutions, an idea to make renewable fuel by living organisms such as fiber, corn, vegetable oil or sugarcane. Biofuels, unlike
nonrenewable fossil fuels over extracted by people, contains the potential to tackle most of the problems people encounter when using fossil fuels.
This makes renewable fuels making it a cleaner source of energy, and a better option than fossil fuels that will ran out shortly sooner or later. The two
main categories in...show more content...
The second part of the essay will discuss some of the weaknesses in applying the fuel into practical usage. For example, corn ethanol is currently
encountering technical limitations serving it as a standalone fuel, meaning that corn ethanol can only function by combining it with a certain amount
of gasoline, while gasoline is a kind of fossil fuel. Finally, this essay will conduct a comparison with other renewable resources in the world,
including solar power, other biofuels, and hydrogen fuel. The most noticeable advantage of corn fuel as an enhancement of fossil fuels is also the
biggest advantage of ethanol energy a renewable fuel. Gasoline as a fuel is extracted from petroleum, and what makes petroleum an unreliable source
of energy is that petroleum is nonrenewable, meaning it would run out some day in the future. Contrary, corn ethanol is a renewable source of energy,
meaning if corns are replanted and remade into fuel, corn ethanol can be a long–term, sustainable energy source (gracelinks.org). Corn ethanol has the
potential to produce a perfect solution of the energy crisis that will happen sooner or later, as experts predicted petroleum will run out in around fifty
years (Gupta,p15). Another main benefit of corn fuel as the future fuel is that the

Energy : The Use Of Energy In Everyday Life
What is energy? Energy is the ability to do work, it is the "power that comes from the use of physical or chemical resources." In your home energy can
come in many forms such as heat, light, and even electricity. The problem is some of us, meaning people, in general, know little to anything about the
word energy itself. When we think about energy, we think about the energy it takes to get up in the morning. Sometimes as students we do not notice
how much, and when we use energy. We use energy in everyday life, and it is very important to understand that.
In my household, our energy sources consist of natural gas and electricity. The Hot Water Heater that we use to heat our water, is generated by
natural gas. Natural gas is a type of energy that comes from deep beneath the earth's surface. Along with heating our water, it helps with washing
clothes in our washing machine and even helps dry those clothes. We also have a dishwasher that makes use of both hot water and electricity. My
mother stated that "She enjoys having a Natural gas water heater because it helps with saving money". Generally Natural gas is cheaper than
electricity when working with water. At some point in being an adult, you have to consider the cost of things and even the benefits that come along
with it. That is what my parents did because it has been almost four to five years living in our household and our Hot water heater has not gone out once.
On the other hand, in my household, we use the source of

~Some history, types, and facts~
In this modern fast paced world that we live in, there are many issues that are looked over, energy is one of these. As a world, we are dependant on
dwindling fossil fuel supplies and take for granted electricity, oil, and gas. There are four completely renewable sources of energy around us that should
be used and developed, they are: wind, growing plants, flowing water, and the sun. These sources of energy are the ones we should be tapping, because
they are reliable and renewable. Harnessing the suns energy is the most certain and ultimate energy source. Looking at a brief history and some facts
about solar energy, a glimpse of the future can be seen, a future not dependant on...show more content...
Bailey decided to separate the water heating system and the water storage system because at night the water in the tank would cool down.
The greatest energy that can be produced by the sun is electricity. Photovoltaics, or solar cells, capture the sun and convert it into electricity. Solar cells
were discovered by the Europeans back in the 1870's when they used selenium to develop the telegraph. They found that when light hits selenium it
would produce and electrical current. Soon enough there were many scientists and engineers working on photovoltaic systems. Silicon and Selenium
proved to be the two best elements to conduct electricity when light hits them. Photovoltaic systems (PV cell) work by converting the suns light into
electricity. A semi conducting material absorbs the sunlight, that energy knocks electrons loose from their atoms, this allows the electrons to flow
through the material to produce electricity. The further development of solar cells can be attributed to the satellite industry. Solar cells were expensive
and there was no use for them until satellites came. Because it is impractical to tether satellites it became important to develop solar energy at any cost
that would power these satellites. This created a sustainable market for solar power, the first of its kind.
Passive solar heating designs are some of the simplest forms of incorporating solar energy into your daily home life. Passive solar designs incorporate

Nuclear energy
Nuclear Power and its uses is a growing discussion in today's era of technology. Australia is one of the developed countries where the demands of
energy resources are increasing rapidly. Nuclear energy is coming up as a great alternative, but various factors support as well as oppose its growth.
Some countries oppose the usage of nuclear energy because of the problems associated with its usage. Production and Maintenance of nuclear power is
very expensive. Nuclear power is viewed as too dangerous, uneconomical, and not required. Although, nuclear energy has a potential hazard, but it is

Though renewable sources of energy are reliable but their output greatly depends on the environment. For example, cloudy days have no solar gain,
hence no solar energy production. Quiet days mean no wind blows to drive wind turbines. Dams are primarily for flood control, so hydroelectricity
production varies as dam water levels fluctuate.
Considering the case of Aswan Dam in Egypt not only caused thousands to loose their homes and lives but also ceased the fertile surrounding because
of the yearly inundation of the Nile. Moreover, the subsequent silting up for the river destroyed much wildlife.
Due to Thermal Power Generation, 2500 million tons of coal each year is consumed to produce 38% of the electricity, While 61,000 tons of Natural
Uranium will be used to generate the same amount of energy (World Nuclear Association, 2005) .
Secondly, nuclear energy source has a weak impact on environment than the Non–renewable resources. There is no doubt that use of fossil fuels leads
to global warming. While, the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere was only 0.028% five decades ago, now, as per American Petroleum
Institute (1998) estimates it reached 0.036%. Additionally, burning of fossil fuels, especially coal, oil, and natural gases are the main causes for
increase in pollution; especially air pollution. Several hazardous pollutants are produced by fossil fuels combustion: Carbon Monoxide, Nitrogen

Energy Sources Of Energy Source Essay
Energy is a big part of our lives. We are heating our homes with natural gas or electricity and driving to and from work and any other outdoors
activities. Our main source of the energy people use is fossil fuels and in the future, the availability of those sources has an end date. As studies show
there are renewable resources of fuel and other equipment used for energy like wind, nuclear power plants and solar hydroelectric. There are many
pros and cons to all forms of energy source, and they all have their own merit. Also, the energy sources that people use does have floss and can cause a
negative impact on the environment, and humans. The most important goal is reducing the overall use of our energy sources.
The main two kinds of energy used in my daily living are electricity, fossil fuel, which is a type of biomass. The main fuel people use is fossil fuels.
This day in age, it is impossible to function without having a vehicle. The only vehicle that, I drive is running on gasoline. In a normal week, my
commute to my job is 20 miles round trip, which is in a different town than where I live. Single mom of two children in the same household consumes

Renewable Energy : The Energy
Renewable Energy
Is it possible to live without energy? Lately, the consumption of energy is increasing due to the growth of the world population. In this technological
era where all the devices work by using energy, the new humankind challenge is providing sufficient amounts of energy. At Yale University, Dr. Ronald
Smith teaches some courses in the areas of meteorology, oceanography, fluid mechanics, atmospheric physics, applied mathematics, mesoscale
dynamics, environmental remote sensing. In The Atmosphere, the Ocean and Environmental Change lecture "Renewable Energy" (2012), Smith
focuses his attention on build an overview of renewable energy and its ways of generation. Smith also does an excellent job in explain each mechanism
to obtain renewable power, including the wind energy, the solar energy, and the biomass energy.
In "Renewable energy", Smith (2012) discusses about the generation of renewable energy, such as wind energy, solar energy, biomass energy and
geothermal energy. According to Smith, wind energy is acquired through the use of large wind turbines which get the kinetic energy from the strong
winds and convert it into electrical energy. In this way, there are some favorable conditions to install a wind turbine siting in an area, such as steady
winds, and low surface roughness. Smith also points out that solar power is collected by the use of photovoltaic solar cells (PV) or concentrated solar
power (CSP). For both mechanisms, it is necessary to analyze

Conclusion Of Solar Energy
Solar energy reduces greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere because it harnesses the power of sun energy with little to no gases being released.
The amount of carbon dioxide released to the atmosphere is way less from solar energy compared to coal plants when seeking to produce the same
amount of KWh per year. The benefits of solar power to the environment include the provision of an inexhaustible supply of energy from the sun. Solar
power captures the sun's energy with no harm to the environment. Therefore, solar power is easier on health impacts, land use, water, and carbon
emissions than energy generating means, such as natural gas in fossil fuel and coal energy plants.
Additionally, residential solar power makes an environmental difference by offsetting emissions of carbon dioxide, for example, a typical 4 kW solar
power system offsets close to 200,000 pounds of carbon dioxide within a period of 25 years. Generation of solar power from home involves creating
sustainable energy in addition to reducing the electricity demand on the grid thus mitigating blackouts and brownouts as well as the community's
dependence on fossil fuels for electricity.
The solar power environmental savings occur even if one does not utilize all their solar power or not. Therefore, it means one's neighbors can still use
the solar power not used from the grid connected with net metering thus sharing clean, renewable energy with the whole community.

Affordable and Clean renewable energy in Costa Rica
Image a country that has clean renewable energy for its citizens. Where the lights never have to go out. A country that does not have to rely on another
state for their energy needs. Energy that is Affordable for all; energy that doesn't pollute the earth and drain it of its resources. Well that's what Costa
Rica is trying to achieve. Costa Rica understands that these out of dates means of obtaining energy is flawed. That switching to affordable and clean
renewable energy on a global scale is not just a way for a country to cut its emissions but as a country it's there responsibly as a global citizen. While
Costa Rica is not the first country to switch to 100 % clean renewable energy, how long can countries go on this type of energy, and will it work in
large countries where the energy need are greater because of the population. Being a Global Citizen you have to understand all of the issues that the
world faces. One of these issues is the Environment. Globalcitizen.org summarizes it up in a nutshell "A healthy planet takes care of its people.
Healthy people take care of the planet. Protecting the earth promotes the people who live on it. Improving the environment gives people the
opportunity to survive and thrive in a world free of extreme poverty." If we want a healthy planet and people we need to help stop climate change, by

"Title"
Every day the United States uses massive amounts of energy. Only about 8% of the United States' energy needs are met by renewable energy sources.
That means that eventually 92% of the nation's energy resources will run out. Recently this problem has been brought into the public's eye and the
American people's attention has shifted to renewable and "green" energy resources. President Jimmy Carter (1977) said that "[w]ith the exception of
preventing war, this (the energy crisis) is the greatest challenge our country will face during our life time" (p. 418). There are many proposed solutions

Both wind and solar energy technologies are extremely environmentally friendly. There are sometimes freak accidents in which birds or bats are killed
by the rotating blades on a wind turbine but for the most part the only "pollution" one could complain about would be that the farms are not
aesthetically pleasing. Compared to non–renewable fuels the emissions and waste produced from wind and solar energy is practically nonexistent.
These new energy sources can reduce carbon dioxide emissions and provide energy that can be renewed.
Some could argue that the price is high for a reason; the wind turbines could be inefficient, prone to breaking, or have some other hidden malady. The
main problem with wind turbines is the fact that it needs to be windy for them to work. But looking at solar cells quickly reveals the same type of
problem; they are useless without the sun. So the question becomes what is there naturally more of– wind or sun? The answer depends on location.
Certain areas are known for being windy and certain areas are known to be dry and hot. Most of the time sunny and windy conditions do not exist
together. If an area has little sun, it is windy, if it is hot and sunny all the time, it usually does not have a lot of wind. In the United States the best
places for solar panels are in the desert states like California, Arizona, and New Mexico. As for turbines, the flatter Midwest states produce the highest
wind speeds. There is also the problem of

Introduction Electricity is generated by the use of energy. Before going further, it will be necessary to talk briefly on what energy is all about. In
this modern day, the standard scientific definition of energy is the capacity to do work, which means ability to move an object against a resisting
force (Boyle 2003). According to (Beggs 2009) a physicist or an engineer will best describe energy in a form of an illustration. I.e. consider a mass of
1kg which is raised 1m above a surface on which it was originally resting. Therefore, in order for the weight to have been lifted above the surface, a
machine or someone must have performed work. Simply, what this means is that, to have raised the mass from a low level to a higher level, work

Examples of these fuels are coal, oil and natural gas. Because these fuels took millions of years to form, there are growing concerns that once used
up; it will not be possible to replace them. Which means attentions will have to be shifted to the renewable energies in order to address the problem in
the future because these fossil fuels currently supplies nearly 80% of the world's current energy consumptions (Boyle 2003). Looking at the three
types of fossil fuels, Oil as a liquid fossil fuel and natural gas as a gaseous fossil fuel are both formed from the remains of marine microorganisms.
Oil and natural gas have been called the noble fuels, by comparison with noble metals such as gold and silver. These two are amongst the most
concentrated natural stores of energy, and being fluids, made them fairly easy to transport from one place to another and very convenient to use. On
the other hand, coal is a solid fossil fuel which is formed over millions of years by decay of land vegetation. They can be referred to as ignoble fuel
because they are particularly unattractive energy source. In comparison to oil and natural gas, coal is less convenient to transport, store or use. It
produces up to twice the amount of carbon dioxide for the same useful heat, and this is by no means its only undesirable environmental effect. But even
with is environmental effect, coal is still widely

Using Renewable Energy Essays
With a growing population around the world, the need for more energy increases as well. We are accustomed to using fossil fuels as our central
source of energy for everyday exploiting. Fossil fuels are a natural matter that is found in the ground of the Earth that is formed in a previous time
period millions of years ago and are nonrenewable. Fossil fuels are burned in order to fabricate energy. When nonrenewable resources have been used,
they cannot restock themselves or be used again. Renewable energy is a supply of energy that can be used as many times necessary and does not
necessitate a compound made from the Earth. There are several different types of fossil fuels and renewable energy that we use for energy sources today.

for ships. Soon after, the windmill is invented. At the beginning of the 1900's, hydroelectric power for electricity is introduced. Meanwhile,
renewable energy is essentially forgotten until the late 1900's because other sources of energy by using fossil fuels are booming. Renewable energy
becomes a topic of interest again in the 1970's when there is a gas shortage because of the tapering production of oil from the Middle East. Although,
people begin to realize soon after this that fossil fuels can't last ceaselessly and that a new source of energy needs to be established (Hoyle).
One of the paramount benefits of using renewable energy rather than fossil fuels is that it's much cleaner. There are no toxins and pollutants pushed
into the air by burning like there are when using fossil fuels. Producing energy with clean air makes renewable energy more competent to the
environment and to people for preservation and health reasons. Endowments of renewable energy can never run out so there is constantly a regular
supply of it. When fossil fuels are burnt, it produces greenhouse gases that are harmful to the atmosphere. As a result, this makes our solar energy
become caught in the atmosphere and causes global warming because of the absorbed heat. Many scientists believe that by reducing the use of harmful
fossil fuels, there are many environmental benefits that can help prevent ecological catastrophes (Tanner). As more

Energy And Power Essay

  • 1. Energy and Power Essay Energy and Power Although I am surrounded by energy and power, I never really knew just how much they mean to the world. However, after learning about the fundamentals of energy, I have a much deeper understanding of their magnitude. In this paper, I will reflect back on what I have learned about energy, and how it has affected me personally. For instance, I know now that the power I am using to sit here and type is roughly equivalent to the power used by an incandescent light bulb, but that is only the beginning. Energy is all around us, but to create power, we need to harness it. I never thought about the fact that everything on earth has some type of energy, and until this course I never even knew the six different types....show more content... I never anticipated that the things I learned in just the first few weeks of this course would lead me to change my own daily activities. Reading about the amounts of energy consumed in past years, and projections for the future, made me realize we need to start conserving now ("Environmental..." 2001). When I learned how much energy the United States consumed in a single year in BTU's, I began conserving my energy much more than I used to. I never knew that our country consumed more energy than is given off in the explosion of a hydrogen bomb ("Annual..."2004). Therefore, I am much more careful about turning off my lights, conserving my heat, and taking shorter showers. I would much rather know that I am doing my part to conserve the precious energy that we have, than know that I am lavishly wasting it. Until this course, I never would have understood the importance of energy conservation, but being able to convert the amount of energy that I use into different medias, such as horsepower, watts and Calories, has shown me just how much of a difference a single person can make (Texas, February 2005). As a single student in EGEE 101, the knowledge I have gained so far has only affected me, and maybe a few of my closest friends. As a class, I believe we can make a large difference, and as a campus, an even larger one. Learning new things about energy everyday Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Essay on Energy Crisis Energy Crisis Energy is important to our nation for many reasons. It is a key economic driver. It offers new market opportunities for business. Providing energy to our nation has been an exciting challenge in recent years. Many changes have been constant throughout that period. The past tells Americans that predicting the specifics of the energy future for our nation with great accuracy would be unlikely. Americans get their energy from different types of resources. With all the different resources Americans believe that an energy crunch shouldn't happen. The crisis is a nationwide energy discontent in which natural gas rates have soared to the highest level in 15 years, and OPEC has slashed its oil output again to keep...show more content... More than half of the growth for natural gas, over the next 20 years, will come from the electric generation market. The use of natural gas in this country could increase by more than a third in the next 20 years. In the electric power generation industry, natural gas could increase as much as 250 percent for power generation. The United States now has two percent of the world's proven crude–oil reserves. Most of the American produced oil comes form old wells, where the output declines over the years. Production costs are lower overseas, so it is cheaper to buy from OPEC nations than from many American suppliers. Increasing energy supplies requires not only wells but new pipelines to transport oil and natural gas. In 1998, the United States consumed 9.8 million more barrels of oil a day than it produced. The economic miracles of the 20th century were powered by fossil fuels. The 21st century may be seen by an equally dramatic change from fossil fuels, and the environmental chaos they brought. The result may be less than an energy revolution. The cost of fossil fuel energy produced is comparable to that of electricity. A fuel cell cleanly and quietly combines oxygen and hydrogen to produce electricity. Fuel cells could one day sit in thousands of basements producing power and hot water, without fossil fuels. Some fossil fuel lobbyists still argue that it will be difficult and expensive to find an alternative to oil and coal. Nuclear

  • 4. solar energy Essay Solar Energy All life on Earth depends on energy from the sun. Solar energy is the source of energy for photosynthesis. It provides the warmth necessary for plants and animals to survive. Scientists have found a way to use God's natural light towards the advantage of our daily lives. The affects of this idea revolutionary, results ofsolar power could lead to a more modernized society and efficient economy. Solar energy is a term that usually means the direct use of sunlight to produce heat or electric power. Solar technology is improving rapidly. Someday, it may provide a clean and abundant source of power. Solar energy is a very useful resource. Today 80% of the energy we use comes from fossil fuels and about 1% comes...show more content... Scientists have developed a way to convert the energy absorbed by the sun in the daylight to a rechargeable battery when night falls. So when the sun shines the next morning, it is a recycling process.
  • 5. However, even though solar power has its advantages, some scientists argue it's Disadvantages. The sun's energy is plentiful, but it is thinly distributed over a large area and must be collected and concentrated to produce usable power. As a result, solar energy is a more expensive power source than fossil fuels for most applications. On the other even though it may be more expensive its well worth it. Deaths caused by sicknesses such as lung failure can quickly be cut in half. For, most of the time people develop bad lungs by breathing in the pollutants lingering in the air produced by cars, buses, and other types of automobiles. Solutions such as carpooling were developed in order to decreased the amount driving cars but it seemed ineffective. Solar power seems to be the only real logical solution. Picture highway of automobiles in motion without inhaling any type of harmful chemical in your body. Ever since the dawn of time, the sun has been a resource we cannot live or do without, so its not such a shock that man has come up with the idea of solar energy . The ideas of solar energy dangerous and some, a very valuable asset to the modern world. However, I feel that solar power is a great idea, by using Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Importance Of Energy Efficiency Essay Energy Efficiency Humans today are using much more electricity than we need to in our houses and this is impacting our world more then we realise. Although electricity is a huge advantage to humans it has the complete opposite effects on our environment. By using more electricity, we are using more of the earth's resources and if we keep going down this road then we are going to run out. The solution for this mass overuse of energy is to build houses which are more energy efficient. Features like LED lightbulbs, insulating and even positioning your house in the correct position for natural airflow instead of using air conditioning are all ways we can help improve this problem. What does energy efficiency mean? "Energy efficiency means using less energy to provide the same service." An example of this is where a LED lightbulb uses less electrical energy than a traditional incandescent lightbulb to produce the same amount of light. The phrase 'energy efficiency' can also be described as any kind of energy–saving measure. (1) How is electricity made? In 1831, scientist Michael Farday discovered the first form of electricity. He found that when a magnet moved inside a copper coil it created what is known as an electric current. This invention is known as a turbine generator. Even today, in full sized power stations this simple invention is still used and works very effectively. These power stations create mass amounts of energy to turn the turbines. Most of the time the energy is made from the heat, for example when coal is burned. More environmentally friendly power stations use wind or flowing water to turn these turbines. This is known as renewable energy because it will not run out, unlike when oil and coal are used.(3) How does the use of electricity impact our world? Environmental Affects Although humans use electricity for almost everything we do, we don't realise that this is harming our environment in many ways. The production of electricity is causing a major loss of the earth's natural resources such as: –Loss of coal and natural gases –Deforestation for mining (loss of trees) –Loss of habitat for rare and threatened species Another environmental issue resulting from the production of electricity

  • 8. Solar Energy Essay Solar energy is better for the environment than energy derived from other sources. Even though it is the most difficult source of energy to channel, solar energy can provide great amounts of resources for the environment as well as market venture, if proven effective. The fact that solar energy comes from the sun, makes it the most desired source of energy. Withoutsolar energy, oxygen and food would be rare to find; mostly from the fact that the sun brings forth all life on planet Earth. The idea that the sun itself could be a cash cow has those from environmental engineers to scientists trying to find ways to harness its immense energy. Students from across the world as well as accountants use solar energy more than anyone else,...show more content... The venture for solar energy first came into existence from Edmund Becquerel, a French physicist who observed and published findings about the nature of materials to turn light into energy but sadly they were not pursued, until thirty years later when Auguste Mouchout was the first man to patent a design for a motor running on solar energy. Charles Tellier, was also a Frenchman whose work in creating preserved foods through refrigeration, experimented with a non–concentrating/non–reflecting solar motor. He installed the first solar energy system for heating household water on top of his roof. Today, all across the world there is more focus in utilizing solar energy. As Becquerel, Mouchout and Teller were pioneers for advances in the past, modern day has its shares of crafty inventors. Recently, a group of environmentalist in Oregon, lead by Mark Dixon called "Your Environmental Road Trip" (YERT), are building the first solar roadways, in which they plan in the future will span to all fifty states. Dixon and his crew by using solar energy to power highways are saving money for the state as well as the consumer. By using garbage from the local land fields to generate the durability of asphalt, solar highways are able to sustain the pressures of vehicles with mass such as transferee trucks, while at the same time creating storage space for solar energy. In an interview regarding how did he plan to revolutionize highways using solar energy, Dixon stated, "If Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Different Types of Energy Essay Energy Paper There are many forms of energy. The types of energy that can affect the toy car are potential energy, kinetic energy, and work of friction. Potential is the energy of an object due to its position. Kinetic energy is the energy due to motion. Friction plays a part because it shows how much energy is needed for the car to move. All these energies are intertwined in the toy car.Potential energy is the energy that is stored in the toy car. When an object is not moving the object has a mass potential of energy. There are also different types of potential energy i.e.: elastic, gravitational, hydroelectric, and chemical (Demlin, 2000–2007). The toy car only produces rolling friction, which is present when the wheels rotate against the floor. Rolling also appears in the gearbox. Friction while not energy affects the energy in the toy car in two ways. Friction causes kinetic energy to be lost while the car is moving. Kinetic energy is lost when the wheels rotate against the floor because the wheels are using kinetic energy to move. The energy is then lost when because of rolling friction heat is produced. In a shorter sense the wheels because of friction convert some of the kinetic energy into thermal energy (heat). Energy is also lost when the gears in the gear box rotate against each other. Some energy would be lost because of the friction of the gears some potential energy would be converted to thermal energy affect making less potential energy available. While friction causes a loss to energy, rolling friction allows less work to be able to overcome friction ("About Friction", 2003). Friction while not energy plays a part in both energies that affect the toy car. The toy has uses two main energies, Kinetic and Potential. Potential energy is made by the pulling back of the car. Kinetic is made when after the car is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Essay about Renewable and Clean Energy As these days global warming, pollutions and fuel shortages are getting more and more serious through time, renewable and clean energy is increasingly the ideal solution to energy related problems we have to solve one way or another. Biofuel is currently one of the mainstream and highly supported solutions, an idea to make renewable fuel by living organisms such as fiber, corn, vegetable oil or sugarcane. Biofuels, unlike nonrenewable fossil fuels over extracted by people, contains the potential to tackle most of the problems people encounter when using fossil fuels. This makes renewable fuels making it a cleaner source of energy, and a better option than fossil fuels that will ran out shortly sooner or later. The two main categories in...show more content... The second part of the essay will discuss some of the weaknesses in applying the fuel into practical usage. For example, corn ethanol is currently encountering technical limitations serving it as a standalone fuel, meaning that corn ethanol can only function by combining it with a certain amount of gasoline, while gasoline is a kind of fossil fuel. Finally, this essay will conduct a comparison with other renewable resources in the world, including solar power, other biofuels, and hydrogen fuel. The most noticeable advantage of corn fuel as an enhancement of fossil fuels is also the biggest advantage of ethanol energy a renewable fuel. Gasoline as a fuel is extracted from petroleum, and what makes petroleum an unreliable source of energy is that petroleum is nonrenewable, meaning it would run out some day in the future. Contrary, corn ethanol is a renewable source of energy, meaning if corns are replanted and remade into fuel, corn ethanol can be a long–term, sustainable energy source (gracelinks.org). Corn ethanol has the potential to produce a perfect solution of the energy crisis that will happen sooner or later, as experts predicted petroleum will run out in around fifty years (Gupta,p15). Another main benefit of corn fuel as the future fuel is that the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Energy : The Use Of Energy In Everyday Life What is energy? Energy is the ability to do work, it is the "power that comes from the use of physical or chemical resources." In your home energy can come in many forms such as heat, light, and even electricity. The problem is some of us, meaning people, in general, know little to anything about the word energy itself. When we think about energy, we think about the energy it takes to get up in the morning. Sometimes as students we do not notice how much, and when we use energy. We use energy in everyday life, and it is very important to understand that. In my household, our energy sources consist of natural gas and electricity. The Hot Water Heater that we use to heat our water, is generated by natural gas. Natural gas is a type of energy that comes from deep beneath the earth's surface. Along with heating our water, it helps with washing clothes in our washing machine and even helps dry those clothes. We also have a dishwasher that makes use of both hot water and electricity. My mother stated that "She enjoys having a Natural gas water heater because it helps with saving money". Generally Natural gas is cheaper than electricity when working with water. At some point in being an adult, you have to consider the cost of things and even the benefits that come along with it. That is what my parents did because it has been almost four to five years living in our household and our Hot water heater has not gone out once. On the other hand, in my household, we use the source of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Solar Energy Essay Solar Energy ~Some history, types, and facts~ In this modern fast paced world that we live in, there are many issues that are looked over, energy is one of these. As a world, we are dependant on dwindling fossil fuel supplies and take for granted electricity, oil, and gas. There are four completely renewable sources of energy around us that should be used and developed, they are: wind, growing plants, flowing water, and the sun. These sources of energy are the ones we should be tapping, because they are reliable and renewable. Harnessing the suns energy is the most certain and ultimate energy source. Looking at a brief history and some facts about solar energy, a glimpse of the future can be seen, a future not dependant on...show more content... Bailey decided to separate the water heating system and the water storage system because at night the water in the tank would cool down. The greatest energy that can be produced by the sun is electricity. Photovoltaics, or solar cells, capture the sun and convert it into electricity. Solar cells were discovered by the Europeans back in the 1870's when they used selenium to develop the telegraph. They found that when light hits selenium it would produce and electrical current. Soon enough there were many scientists and engineers working on photovoltaic systems. Silicon and Selenium proved to be the two best elements to conduct electricity when light hits them. Photovoltaic systems (PV cell) work by converting the suns light into electricity. A semi conducting material absorbs the sunlight, that energy knocks electrons loose from their atoms, this allows the electrons to flow through the material to produce electricity. The further development of solar cells can be attributed to the satellite industry. Solar cells were expensive and there was no use for them until satellites came. Because it is impractical to tether satellites it became important to develop solar energy at any cost that would power these satellites. This created a sustainable market for solar power, the first of its kind. Passive solar heating designs are some of the simplest forms of incorporating solar energy into your daily home life. Australia is one of the developed countries where the demands of energy resources are increasing rapidly. Nuclear energy is coming up as a great alternative, but various factors support as well as oppose its growth. Some countries oppose the usage of nuclear energy because of the problems associated with its usage. Production and Maintenance of nuclear power is very expensive. Nuclear power is viewed as too dangerous, uneconomical, and not required. Although, nuclear energy has a potential hazard, but it is reliable in terms of efficiency, environmental impact and cost when compared with other sources of energy. Therefore, the increase in the...show more content... Though renewable sources of energy are reliable but their output greatly depends on the environment. For example, cloudy days have no solar gain, hence no solar energy production. Quiet days mean no wind blows to drive wind turbines. Dams are primarily for flood control, so hydroelectricity production varies as dam water levels fluctuate. Considering the case of Aswan Dam in Egypt not only caused thousands to loose their homes and lives but also ceased the fertile surrounding because of the yearly inundation of the Nile. Moreover, the subsequent silting up for the river destroyed much wildlife. Due to Thermal Power Generation, 2500 million tons of coal each year is consumed to produce 38% of the electricity, While 61,000 tons of Natural Uranium will be used to generate the same amount of energy (World Nuclear Association, 2005) . Secondly, nuclear energy source has a weak impact on environment than the Non–renewable resources. There is no doubt that use of fossil fuels leads to global warming. While, the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere was only 0.028% five decades ago, now, as per American Petroleum Institute (1998) estimates it reached 0.036%. Additionally, burning of fossil fuels, especially coal, oil, and natural gases are the main causes for increase in pollution; especially air pollution. Several hazardous pollutants are produced by fossil fuels combustion: Carbon Monoxide, Nitrogen Oxides, Sulphur Oxides and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Energy Sources Of Energy Source Essay Energy is a big part of our lives. We are heating our homes with natural gas or electricity and driving to and from work and any other outdoors activities. Our main source of the energy people use is fossil fuels and in the future, the availability of those sources has an end date. As studies show there are renewable resources of fuel and other equipment used for energy like wind, nuclear power plants and solar hydroelectric. There are many pros and cons to all forms of energy source, and they all have their own merit. Also, the energy sources that people use does have floss and can cause a negative impact on the environment, and humans. In a normal week, my commute to my job is 20 miles round trip, which is in a different town than where I live. Single mom of two children in the same household consumes around 500.00 per month, it would be impossible to bring all the food home if, I was to walk. Children have many different needs than parents have. Single moms have to work and the children go to school. The central heating in my house does not normally get turned on until its below 55' in the apartment. With Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Renewable Energy : The Energy Renewable Energy Is it possible to live without energy? Lately, the consumption of energy is increasing due to the growth of the world population. In this technological era where all the devices work by using energy, the new humankind challenge is providing sufficient amounts of energy. At Yale University, Dr. Ronald Smith teaches some courses in the areas of meteorology, oceanography, fluid mechanics, atmospheric physics, applied mathematics, mesoscale dynamics, environmental remote sensing. In The Atmosphere, the Ocean and Environmental Change lecture "Renewable Energy" (2012), Smith focuses his attention on build an overview of renewable energy and its ways of generation. Smith also does an excellent job in explain each mechanism to obtain renewable power, including the wind energy, the solar energy, and the biomass energy. In "Renewable energy", Smith (2012) discusses about the generation of renewable energy, such as wind energy, solar energy, biomass energy and geothermal energy. According to Smith, wind energy is acquired through the use of large wind turbines which get the kinetic energy from the strong winds and convert it into electrical energy. In this way, there are some favorable conditions to install a wind turbine siting in an area, such as steady winds, and low surface roughness. Smith also points out that solar power is collected by the use of photovoltaic solar cells (PV) or concentrated solar power (CSP). For both mechanisms, it is necessary to analyze Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Conclusion Of Solar Energy Solar energy reduces greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere because it harnesses the power of sun energy with little to no gases being released. The amount of carbon dioxide released to the atmosphere is way less from solar energy compared to coal plants when seeking to produce the same amount of KWh per year. The benefits of solar power to the environment include the provision of an inexhaustible supply of energy from the sun. Solar power captures the sun's energy with no harm to the environment. Therefore, solar power is easier on health impacts, land use, water, and carbon emissions than energy generating means, such as natural gas in fossil fuel and coal energy plants. Additionally, residential solar power makes an environmental difference by offsetting emissions of carbon dioxide, for example, a typical 4 kW solar power system offsets close to 200,000 pounds of carbon dioxide within a period of 25 years. Generation of solar power from home involves creating sustainable energy in addition to reducing the electricity demand on the grid thus mitigating blackouts and brownouts as well as the community's dependence on fossil fuels for electricity. The solar power environmental savings occur even if one does not utilize all their solar power or not. Therefore, it means one's neighbors can still use the solar power not used from the grid connected with net metering thus sharing clean, renewable energy with the whole community. Where the lights never have to go out. A country that does not have to rely on another state for their energy needs. Energy that is Affordable for all; energy that doesn't pollute the earth and drain it of its resources. Well that's what Costa Rica is trying to achieve. Costa Rica understands that these out of dates means of obtaining energy is flawed. That switching to affordable and clean renewable energy on a global scale is not just a way for a country to cut its emissions but as a country it's there responsibly as a global citizen. While Costa Rica is not the first country to switch to 100 % clean renewable energy, how long can countries go on this type of energy, and will it work in large countries where the energy need are greater because of the population. Being a Global Citizen you have to understand all of the issues that the world faces. One of these issues is the Environment. Globalcitizen.org summarizes it up in a nutshell "A healthy planet takes care of its people. Healthy people take care of the planet. Protecting the earth promotes the people who live on it. Improving the environment gives people the opportunity to survive and thrive in a world free of extreme poverty." If we want a healthy planet and people we need to help stop climate change, by decreasing on a global scale of the carbon dioxide gases. • 18. Renewable Energy Sources Essay "Title" Every day the United States uses massive amounts of energy. Only about 8% of the United States' energy needs are met by renewable energy sources. That means that eventually 92% of the nation's energy resources will run out. Recently this problem has been brought into the public's eye and the American people's attention has shifted to renewable and "green" energy resources. President Jimmy Carter (1977) said that "[w]ith the exception of preventing war, this (the energy crisis) is the greatest challenge our country will face during our life time" (p. 418). There are many proposed solutions to this problem and wind and solar energy are just two renewable energy sources that could be used. There are sometimes freak accidents in which birds or bats are killed by the rotating blades on a wind turbine but for the most part the only "pollution" one could complain about would be that the farms are not aesthetically pleasing. The main problem with wind turbines is the fact that it needs to be windy for them to work. But looking at solar cells quickly reveals the same type of problem; they are useless without the sun. So the question becomes what is there naturally more of– wind or sun? The answer depends on location. Certain areas are known for being windy and certain areas are known to be dry and hot. Most of the time sunny and windy conditions do not exist together. If an area has little sun, it is windy, if it is hot and sunny all the time, it usually does not have a lot of wind. In the United States the best places for solar panels are in the desert states like California, Arizona, and New Mexico. As for turbines, the flatter Midwest states produce the highest wind speeds. Claim : With today's scientific ingenuity our society can improve air quality and decrease air pollution by simply altering the leading environmental factor of our society. Runner/transition : This leading factor is how we as a society create our energy that is used to run our homes, neighborhoods, and cities. Backround Factor : Renewable Energy Sources The most common way our society produces energy today is either through coal industries, natural gas industries or through nuclear reactors. By switching to hydro, solar, wind, wave or geothermal power our society will profit greatly from the decrease of pollution. Body paragraph reason 1 : Hydroelectric power Statistics about hydroelectric power. Hydropower Statistics (2016) states that about 19% of the total world 's energy comes from hydropower turbines, as well as 9.25% of the United States energy production comes from hydropower ( para. 1). Hydropower Statistics (2016) gave a surprising statistic which is that "the use of hydropower prevents the burning of 22 billion gallons of oil or 120 million tons of coal each year. In other words, the carbon emissions avoided by the nation 's hydroelectric industry are the equivalent of an additional 67 million

  • 21. Energy Sources Essay Introduction Electricity is generated by the use of energy. Before going further, it will be necessary to talk briefly on what energy is all about. In this modern day, the standard scientific definition of energy is the capacity to do work, which means ability to move an object against a resisting force (Boyle 2003). According to (Beggs 2009) a physicist or an engineer will best describe energy in a form of an illustration. I.e. consider a mass of 1kg which is raised 1m above a surface on which it was originally resting. Therefore, in order for the weight to have been lifted above the surface, a machine or someone must have performed work. Simply, what this means is that, to have raised the mass from a low level to a higher level, work ...show more content... Examples of these fuels are coal, oil and natural gas. Because these fuels took millions of years to form, there are growing concerns that once used up; it will not be possible to replace them. Which means attentions will have to be shifted to the renewable energies in order to address the problem in the future because these fossil fuels currently supplies nearly 80% of the world's current energy consumptions (Boyle 2003). Looking at the three types of fossil fuels, Oil as a liquid fossil fuel and natural gas as a gaseous fossil fuel are both formed from the remains of marine microorganisms. Oil and natural gas have been called the noble fuels, by comparison with noble metals such as gold and silver. These two are amongst the most concentrated natural stores of energy, and being fluids, made them fairly easy to transport from one place to another and very convenient to use. On the other hand, coal is a solid fossil fuel which is formed over millions of years by decay of land vegetation. They can be referred to as ignoble fuel because they are particularly unattractive energy source. In comparison to oil and natural gas, coal is less convenient to transport, store or use. It produces up to twice the amount of carbon dioxide for the same useful heat, and this is by no means its only undesirable environmental effect. But even with is environmental effect, coal is still widely Get more content on HelpWriting.net

We are accustomed to using fossil fuels as our central source of energy for everyday exploiting. Fossil fuels are a natural matter that is found in the ground of the Earth that is formed in a previous time period millions of years ago and are nonrenewable. Fossil fuels are burned in order to fabricate energy. When nonrenewable resources have been used, they cannot restock themselves or be used again. Renewable energy is a supply of energy that can be used as many times necessary and does not necessitate a compound made from the Earth. There are several different types of fossil fuels and renewable energy that we use for energy sources today. ...show more content... for ships. Soon after, the windmill is invented. At the beginning of the 1900's, hydroelectric power for electricity is introduced. Meanwhile, renewable energy is essentially forgotten until the late 1900's because other sources of energy by using fossil fuels are booming. Renewable energy becomes a topic of interest again in the 1970's when there is a gas shortage because of the tapering production of oil from the Middle East. Although, people begin to realize soon after this that fossil fuels can't last ceaselessly and that a new source of energy needs to be established (Hoyle). One of the paramount benefits of using renewable energy rather than fossil fuels is that it's much cleaner. There are no toxins and pollutants pushed into the air by burning like there are when using fossil fuels. Producing energy with clean air makes renewable energy more competent to the environment and to people for preservation and health reasons. Endowments of renewable energy can never run out so there is constantly a regular supply of it. When fossil fuels are burnt, it produces greenhouse gases that are harmful to the atmosphere. As a result, this makes our solar energy become caught in the atmosphere and causes global warming because of the absorbed heat. Many scientists believe that by reducing the use of harmful fossil fuels, there are many environmental benefits that can help prevent ecological catastrophes (Tanner).
