Specifications Cont. • Round slings are lifting slings which are endless which means they potentially have the capability to double their safe working load when doubled over into a basket shape. • Increasing productivity and the time savings for heavy loads can be massive because they are so compact, lightweight and easy to handle. • Help prevent (minimize) damage to the items being lifted (i.e. No metal- to-metal contact) EDCINTL.IMS.FM.033.R3

Polysters • Polyester is not significantly affected by most compounds of the following classes: alcohols, dry cleaning solvents, halogenated hydrocarbons, ketones, soaps and synthetic detergents or water (including sea water). •Polyester also has good to excellent resistance to aqueous solutions of most weak acids at the boil and to most acids at room temperature, but is disintegrated by 95% concentration of H2SO4 •Polyester products also have good resistance to most aqueous solutions or strong alkalis at room temperature, but are degraded by the same solution at the boil. • Oxidizing agents and bleaching treatments ordinarily used by the textile industry also do not degrade polyester fiber. Stretch at work load limit is approximately 3-4% and polyester does not lose strength as a result of moisture absorption. The acceptable temperature exposure range is -40°F (-40°C) to a maximum of 194°F (90°C). EDCINTL.IMS.FM.033.R3

Storing WSTDA RS-14.4.1 states: “Polyster roundslings should be store in a cool, dry and dark place, to prevent loss of strength when no in use through exposure to UV (Ultra- violet rays)” How to recognize UV degradation: When the roundsling covers are stiff and/ or faded. - 14. EDCINTL.IMS.FM.033.R3 Inspect slings daily before use and frequently during use. Slings must be removed from service when any of the following substandard conditions exist: • Chemical damage; including acid or caustic burns, brittle or stiff areas, and discoloration of any kind • Melting, charring or weld spatter on any part of the fittings • Holes, tears, cuts, snags, broken or worn stitching, or any abrasion in the sling cover that exposes the core yarns • Knots in the sling (If unable to release it) • Extensive abrasive wear • Stretching, cracking, pitting, distortion, or any other damage to the fittings • Other visible damage that could affect ling strength • Sling identification missing, illegible, or incomplete (required: manufacturer ID, code or stock number, rated capacity for hitches, core and cover material)

- Polyester and Dyneema are both synthetic (man-made) materials; polyester units are light weight and very competitively priced; Dyneema are extremely lightweight and compact offering a greater working load limit than polyester.
- Slings carry their loads in one of three primary hitches. The work load limit (WLL or SWL) of the sling is affected by the hitch that is used. Most slings can be used in all three hitches, but some slings are designed for use in only one hitch. Slings have the largest work load limit when used in a basket hitch. The work load limit of a vertical hitch is 50% of the basket hitch. The same sling would be assigned a different work load limit for the choker hitch. The choker work load limit is a maximum of 80% of the vertical work load limit per ASME recommendation.
