employees to work quickly and safely.
What is it? Where a job is physically demanding we screen people to ensure they are
capable of undertaking the work. An occupational therapist works with you
to develop an understanding of the job and design and implement an
appropriate and realistic screening method.
How does it help? Screening ensures that only employees that are physically fully capable
undertake the work, thus avoiding future absences.
What is it? A systematic assessment by one of our clinical experts on the impact of an
employee’s disability on their overall physical capability. It provides an
objective and expert opinion on what they are physically able and not able
to do.
How does it help? Having an independent and objective assessment of an employee’s disability
facilitates a more open dialogue on what he/she is able to do. The
information gained enables better development of an effective return to
work programme. Coupled with a Work Place Assessment it provides a
complete picture of the employee’s capacity to undertake a job and any
reasonable adjustments that might be made.
What is it? There a can be many issues, both physical and psychological, that prevent an
employee from returning to work after serious illness. Our expert therapists
work with the employer and employee to identify those issues and develop
practical measures to address them through a staged Return to Work
Programme. The therapist then monitors and reviews implementation on a
regular basis.
How does it help? An effective return work programmes reduces the length of absences and
the likelihood of the return failing, i.e. repeat absence. They also ensure
that should further action be necessary the employer can demonstrate they
have fulfilled all their obligations and their duty of care.

What is it? An expert assessment of a work-station or working environment, the work
undertaken and the people undertaking it, with the aim of ensuring it is set
up to minimise muscular-skeletal issues. Our Occupational Therapists
provide practical advice on the ergonomic risks and how they can be
minimised.
How does it help? Ensures that working environments are set up to minimise any potential
problems and limit the risk of any muscular skeletal problems arising that
could result in absences.
What is it? The Equality Act 2010 requires employers to make “reasonable adjustments”
to accommodate disabled workers, e.g. if a worker develops a disability or a
disabled candidate applies for a job. Based on an assessment of the
disability and the nature of the job, this service provides practical advice on
the adjustment that can be made and what would be considered reasonable
for the employer.
How does it help? This service helps employer meet their legal obligation and take reasonable
steps to accommodate disabled workers.
What is it? Our therapists help support your employees who have long-term health
conditions such as cancer, fibromyalgia or multiple sclerosis. The therapist
assesses and monitors their capacity for work and provides on-going support
and advice to help them remain at work.
How does it help? This service helps employers deal with employees who have a long-term
health condition in a fair and compassionate way. Involving a therapist helps
the employer understand the condition, provides the employee with
practical support to remain at work and promotes effective communication
between the employer and employee.
What is it? Individual, one-to-one coaching for employees who want to improve their
general health and well-being. A qualified practitioner works with the
individual to identify their health goals and develop and implement a plan to
achieve them.
How does it help? Helps individuals that may have long term health issues that are likely to
lead to absences, such as smoking, poor diet and lack of exercise, to address
those issues. The support of a professional makes achieving long term
change for the better much more likely.
