Alexei Mishin is a renowned figure skating coach known as "The Dean of Figure Skating Coaches." He has trained Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko and other champions. Mishin was also a competitive skater, winning the Soviet pairs title and a silver medal at the 1969 World Championships. In addition to his coaching career, Mishin is a professor, chairman of figure skating for Russian universities, author of a textbook on figure skating, and inventor who has designed innovations for skating and a futuristic washing machine.
