The Academy of Figure Skating in Saint Petersburg has trained over 900 children since 1995 under 80 coaches. It is proud of famous coaches like Tamara Moskvina and Alexei Mishin. The academy also provides public ice skating and helps children of all skill levels enjoy the health benefits of winter sports.

1. Academy of figure skating
is a state sports school for
additional education. It was opened
in Saint- Petersburg in Primorskiy district in 1995
.More than 900 children have opportunity to study
and train there , more than 80 coaches help them to
achieve success at different kinds of championships.

2. The academy is proud of its famous coaches,
in first line the legends of soviet and Russian sport
Tamara Moskvina and Alexei Mishin.
T. Moskvina was born in Leningrad , has finished school#330 with
the silver medal, studied playing the piano at Rimskiy Korsakov
musical school. Later she studied at the institute of Physical
Culture and graduated from it with excellent marks.
When Moskvina decided to retire and concentrate on a coaching
career she earned her doctor’ degree in educational psychology.
Tamara Moskvina is an Honorary citizen of Saint-Petersburg.

3. Alexei Mishin was born in Sevastopol. He started skating in
Leningrad relatively late ,at age 15 .His father skated with him to
get him interested in this activity.
Alexei Mishin was 28 when he decided to give up his successful
pair skating and looked forward to training young people and
never regretted becoming a coach.
His most successful and longtime student is Evgeni Plushenko , the
2006 Winter Olympics champion.
E.Plushenko later described his coach as “Professor Higgins”

4. Nikolai Velikov was born in Kostroma region .He began to skate
after he had seen the film “Sun Valley Serenade “ in which
starred Sonja Henie, the Olympics Champion. He was very
successful in pair skating with L. Sinitsina. The best result of this
pair was the third place on the championship in Russian in 1973.
Now Nikolai Velikov and his wife are the coaches .They have
coached many top junior skaters such as Marina Poplavskaya, Alexei
Pogodin, Mary Petrova, Alexei Tikhonov, Anton Sikharulidse and
others.

5. Alexei Urmanov was born in 1993 in Leningrad and started
skating at the age of four. He won the silver gold at the 1990
World Junior Championships. In 1991 he became the first skater
who had performed a quadruple jump. And in 1994 at the
Winter Olympics in Littlehammer he won the gold medal.
Urmanov is an Honoured Master of Sports of Russian Federation.
Alexei Urmanov is currently a skating coach.
His former pupils are Sergei Voronov, Nodari Maisuradse,
and Gordei Gorshkov. His current students are Nikol Gosviani,
Polina Agafonova, Zhan Bush.

6. We study at school # 320 It is not far from the academy. And we
know that this educational institution has provided service for
public ice skating since 2006
We got used to spending our winter holidays training on the ice.
Some students can skate perfectly, while the others are only
beginners .But we are happy to spend time together enjoying this
sport, because it’s very healthy, dynamic and spectacular.
