Elpidio Quirino was the 6th president of the Philippines, serving from 1948 to 1953. He was born in 1890 in Vigan, Philippines and died in 1956. Prior to becoming president, he held various political positions including representative, senator, and secretary of finance and interior. As president, he faced challenges from communist insurgents and was criticized for corruption and neglecting the impoverished, leading to his defeat in the 1953 election by Ramon Magsaysay.
