Startupfest 2016: JEFF BAIKOWITZ (MotherFood) - Future ofStartupfest
The Future of food
If you had to spend a dollar of your money or an hour of your time saving the world, you'd spend it on getting the right micronutrients to children in their first thousand days after conception. Scientists, economists, and world leaders agree that this would literally change the fate of nations, because malnutrition is insidious; it holds back physical and cognitive development for a lifetime, trapping families in a vicious, ongoing cycle of poverty.
You might think this problem was solved. It isn't. We have acute, interventionist solutions, like pre-packaged therapeutic doses of food. They're costly, hard to distribute to the mouths that need them, and unsustainable. What's more, people hate them because they don't taste like the food they're used to.
Entrepreneur Jeff Baikowitz is tackling this challenge head-on. Building on his knowledge of food from restaurants like Joe Beef, Park, and more, he's pulled together a global team of business, food, nonprofit and academic experts. He's prototyping his MVP to countries around the world. Learn about the future of food and nutrition, and how to tackle the biggest problems on the planet with a startup mindset.

Global Keynote speaker Erik Vermeulen dissects 6 Marketing Trends that will impact business in 2012. Erik also believes that Advocacy will fast replace "hard sell" advertising.
A significant brand is a rare breed. Not many of them exist in this world, but when you meet one you soon know about it. Becoming one does not require luck, timing or large advertising budgets. Significant brands simply value their customers more than themselves, and they are willing to do the things that other brands don't do.
I didn’t actually create this list of "Significant Brands” to produce a ranking table, but to spark a debate. These brands are significant to me because of what they stand for, not how much money they have made. After all, isn’t that the real purpose of business… To not just make a profit, but to make a profit that has a purpose?
Significant brands are run by companies who's intentions lie beyond profits. They want to make profits with purpose.
Significant brands stand for something larger than themselves. They inspire and add value to the lives of everyone they touch.
So, these are my top 25 most #SignificantBrands. I've tried to include a few stories around why I think they are significant, and a couple of words from one of their founders or executives. I hope you like them. If you don't, even better... create your own list and post it on slideshare ~ because we don't have deep conversations about brand purpose often enough.

How multinational businesses can keep up with the new global consumer.
The way businesses need to organize and behave has fundamentally shifted. Across industries, companies, and organizational functions, we have heard many of the world’s most innovative companies echo the same challenge: businesses must urgently embrace a more nimble and entrepreneurial approach in order to stay competitive. We call this challenge of how big companies can leverage scale while staying innovative “big entrepreneurship.” The Rising Billion is one of five pieces in our report, Big Entrepreneurship, aimed at deconstructing some of the complex challenges around big entrepreneurship and provide actionable insights for business leaders.
This report was created by Fahrenheit 212, a global innovation strategy and design firm. We define innovation strategies and develop new products, services, and experiences that create sustainable, profitable growth for our clients. We challenge the belief that innovation is inherently unreliable and have spent the last decade designing the method, building the model, and assembling the minds to make innovation a predictable driver of growth for our clients' businesses.
In The Next Outlook 2019 we describe various trends in the behaviour of consumers and organisations that are most relevant to companies and institutions in the coming years.
