I am an ambitious graduate with a passion for history along with key political perspective. I have
excellent communication skills both written and verbal, along with skills in research, analysis and
working as part of a team.
Education and Qualifications:
• 2013-2016 - University of Sussex:
BA (Hons) History and Politics 2:1
Key modules included:
1. Research Skills and Methods 3. Reforming Islam in the 20th
Century
2. Politics of Governance: USA and 4. Immigration and the Liberal State
Eastern and Eastern Europe
Whilst studying these and a range of many other topics, I have developed a range of transferable skills,
including interpreting data, expressing ideas and opinions, formulating hypotheses, giving and
receiving feedback and adapting to new concepts and skills. Using Windows Office and SPSS.
For my history dissertation, titled ‘Re-writing the future of is Islam: Jihadi language from the 19th
century to the current day’, I independently analysed and compared information from a wide range
of primary and secondary sources. All whilst presenting information in effective written form
appropriate to the purpose and reader and demonstrating my capacity for invention.
For my politics dissertation, titled ‘Breaking down the wall: A cross-party analysis of immigration
rhetoric in the 2016 US election campaigns’, I planned my own work by setting and achieving goals
by collection, selecting and ordering data and applying judgement. Also I used previous research to
highlight both the similarities and differences of my findings. All whilst once again presenting
information in the appropriate written form.
• 2007-2013 – Oriel High School and Sixth Form:
A levels: History (B), Politics and Governance (B), English Literature (D), Psychology AS (C)
GCSEs: 13 subjects grade A – C, including English Literature and Language (A & B), Maths (B), History
(A) and three Sciences (A, B & C)
Volunteering/work Experience:
• Playworker at Cranbrook Day Nursery: 18th – 22nd October 2010
I gained skills in teamwork, looking after children and communicating effectively with new people
Employment History:
• Waitress at Pizza Express: Dates: 11th September 2011 – January 2017
I have built on my teamwork skills, also gained more self-awareness, confidence and esteem. I now
have experience in time organisation, working under pressure, going above and beyond my post and
working flexible hours, whilst also remaining reliable and punctual. I also started my job as a runner,
working my way up until I became a waitress, showing determination and my ability to learn on the
job. Using live-bookings software.
• Process Assistant at Scotia Gas Networks (SGN) : Dates: 30th
January 2017 – Present
Administrative work in an office environment with other processing team members and managers and
across project workflows e.g. quoting and customer service teams, data entry and filing, taking emails
and making phone calls both internally and externally of the business, prioritising and scheduling work
on a daily and weekly basis to optimise achievement of service level agreements and targets set by
the team manager. Using Windows Office & Outlook, Maximo, Xoserve and Intranet maps.
Interests and Activities:
• Music:
Music is a keen passion of mine; I enjoy a range of genres most of which I have seen live and listen too
regularly. I have attended over forty concerts and gigs and also seen a multiple amount of shows and
musicals in theatre and have also been to see live comedy shows
• Sports:
I took part in both the football and rounder’s teams during my time at school; training and taking part
in matches with surrounding schools. I’m am a fan of many sports and go to see the football team I
support play regularly each season
Additional skills:
• IT - proficiency in areas of Microsoft Office, including Word and PowerPoint, along with
Windows Vista, 7, 8 & 10. I also have brief experience with SPSS, and two ICT OCR nationals.
• Full, clean driving licence acquired in 2013.
