Ranchi: The Jharkhand government endorsed privatization in the education sector at a two-day global
education summit in New Delhi on Friday. Chief Minister Raghubar Das invited private institutions to the
state for setting up their respective campuses.
Putting the onus of decay of state run academic infrastructure on politicians, Das sought investments for
providing job-oriented education to the state youth. Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma announced the
government plans of making the state an 'education hub' by 2020.
The state struck chord with the Polish ambassador Thomas Lucassa who said the Poland government is
contemplating investments in the education sector in Ranchi and Jamshedpur alongside mining.
Though the chief minister sympathized with the challenges of poor students, he did not come clean on
whether private education hubs would be mandated to open its doors for the economically backward
students.
