Environment Health and Safety (EHS) has become industry
norm and statutory requirement for the manufacturing
industry to adhere to the laws and guidelines pertaining to
EHS laid down by relevant regulatory bodies.
More than anything else, EHS is critical to ensure safety and
comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Along
with safer and
healthier employees, a strong EHS management system can
work wonders in increasing the productivity of an
organization as well.

In the pharmaceuticals industry, various chemicals are being
handled through several equipment, machinery and
processes using electricity and mechanical devices. Various
microorganisms are also being handled both in the
laboratory and in production process. So it is required to
study the whole setup, machinery, process, raw materials,
chemicals, microorganisms, etc. thoroughly. It is also
required to identify all possible hazards and then take
preventive and corrective measures to prevent the accident.

Basic Safety Rules:
All employees are expected to wear clean uniform and caps while on
duty.
Smoking is not allowed in the plant.
Safety helmet, goggles and hand gloves are issued to all for staff these
must be worm all the time.
For handling hazardous chemicals, you must use acid proof aprons and
face shields.
All material used in the factory are very expensive and hazardous make
sure that there is spillage, wastage. Know the MSDS of each chemical.

Basic Safety Rules:
For working at heights safety belts should be worn.
Do not enter any vessel or equipment, without proper vessel entry
permit.
No welding or hot work without a fire permit.
For doing any maintenance work, work permission is necessary.
Do not start any work without a work permit.
For doing any excavation work, excursion permission is necessary.
Do not block any safety shower, fire appliance or exhaust.
