my educational andcareergoals,andhow I planto reach themalongwithawardsand honorsI received
duringmy journeythroughcollege
First, Iwouldlike tobecome aregisterednurse;ithasbeenmydreamsince childhood.Surely,itisa
careerthat demandsmanyattributeswhichIam persuadedIpossess,suchasthe abilitytothinkbefore
acting,to be loyal and dedicated,toalwaysdomybest and nevergive uporquiteasily,tobe
accountable andreliable,tostandupforwhat isright,to seta goodexample tothose wholookupto
me and dependonme,to domy share and beyond,tostayinformed,toprotectandsupport,to
exercise self-discipline,torespectauthority,tocontribute tosociety,andfinallytolove andshow care
to othersthroughkindnessandcaring.
Secondly,Ihave astrong desire toalwaysstrive forthe highestlevel of excellence ineducation,
therefore attainingBSN degree leadingtoaMaster iswhat I hope to accomplish.While Iperformmy
dutiesasa nurse,I wouldlike tokeepgoingtoschool toincrease myknowledge inthe medical fieldand
reinforce myskills.Certainly,Iwill alwaysacknowledgethe factthatI needto be aware of the many
changesthat takesplace inthe medical professions,soIam willingtostayinformedof current and
updated information.
Academically,IreceivedaNational CertifiedMedical Assistant Certificationin1993 throughConcorde
CareerInstitute inJacksonville Florida,alongwithaCertificate forAIDS104 in1992. While Iwas
employedbyNBA CypressVillage asa Home Care CompanionIreceived acertificate throughthe Florida
HealthCare Association,intrainingcurriculumforthe Special Care of NursingHome Residentswith
Alzheimer’sdiseaseorrelateddisordersin August2003 (Provider#NHADOO4,Curriculum#NHAD02).In
addition,myeffortsearnedmydesignationonthe JacksonvilleCollege President’list forCross Term
1999 for myacademicsuccess,and I wasplacedwithinanelite groupof academicallydedicated
students.Also,Iwasnamedtothe Dean’slistfor Fall Term2004, and SpringTerm2005 at Florida
CommunityCollege of Jacksonvilleinrecognitionof myacademicachievement;itwasagreat honorand
tribute tomy intellectual energyandeffortIdevotedtomystudies.Proudly,throughmyacademic
endeavorsIearnedrespectfromthe faculty,staff,andadministratorsof the college .In2008, I obtained
an Associate inArtdegree atDaytona State College.Asyoucansee,Ihave beenattendingcollege for
quite some time due tothe fact that I have enduredmany hardships duringmyjourney.
Most of all,my extenuatingcircumstancesatthistime donotpermitme to pursue nursing,andIam
indesperate needof financialassistance.IamoriginallyfromFrance andI donot have any familyinthis
countryto supportme.I have beendivorcedsince 1993 and I have two children,itisveryhardto
assume all the responsibilitiesasasingle woman.Ihave beeninthisareafor the past fouryears,and I
have not beenable to findpermanent employment.Iamcurrentlyseekingajob,butI have not hadany
successso far.Unfortunately,Ihave encounteredmanyobstaclessince I startedcollege,however,
despite mytrials andafflictions,I amverydeterminedtokeeptrying andkeep myvisionclear:“Tobe a
lightwhere there isdarkness”.
To conclude,Iwouldlike tothank-youforthe opportunitytoprovide studentswithadditional
