Alternative sources of financing secondary school education in the rural coun...Alexander Decker
This document summarizes a study on alternative sources of financing secondary education in Kisii County, Kenya. The study found the dominant alternative sources were service-based incomes (20%), commercial activities like school canteens (35%), and agricultural activities like livestock and crop farming (45%). Revenues from these alternative sources helped schools pay salaries, hire more teachers, improve facilities, and motivate students. However, 15% of schools still faced challenges securing funding. The document recommends the Kenyan government formulate policies requiring schools to pursue alternative funding to reduce reliance on unsustainable government funding and train school managers in developing alternative income sources.

The Canadian Federation of Students analyzed the federal government's mini-budget tabled on October 18, 2000 and found it profoundly disappointing. The budget continued policies that promote an elitist view of post-secondary education rather than universal access. It allocated massive surpluses to tax cuts for wealthy Canadians rather than restoring funding cuts to universities and colleges. While it doubled an education tax credit, this would do little for most students who have low incomes. The budget also offered no measures to address the rising student debt crisis.
Australia has a three-tiered education system comprising primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. Primary education is between ages 5-15/17 and is compulsory. 2. Study in canada
The majority of education in Canada is publicly funded and regulated
by local, provincial, and territorial governments. The province is in
charge of regulating the curriculum and has jurisdiction over
education. In Canada, primary education is often separated from
secondary education and post-secondary education. District school
boards in the provinces under the ministry of education are in charge
of overseeing the educational initiatives.
3. International students in Canada
International students are present at all educational levels, including primary, secondary,
trade, and college and university (post-secondary), with the biggest number being at the
latter level, according to the International Education Strategy released by the
Government of Canada. From 2015 to 2018, enrollment grew steadily across the board,
with college enrollment seeing the most increase. A commitment to diversify inbound
students and spread them out more evenly around the nation rather than having a
significant concentration in a few places is made in the International Education Strategy
for the years 2019–2024. By offering ESL programmes and reserving certain
scholarships for top-tier international students, several Canadian colleges are
attempting to draw in foreign students.
4. Higher education systems in Canada
According to the Constitution Act of 1867, Canada's provinces have primary
constitutional responsibility for higher education. The choice was divisive from the
beginning. Due to this constitutional setup, each province and territory has developed its
own own educational system, including higher education. The Canadian Military
Colleges and support for the education of Aboriginal Peoples are the only direct
involvements of the federal government in higher education at the moment.
The ten provinces of Canada's higher education systems are described together with
their historical progression, structure, governance, funding, and objectives (e.g.,
participation, access, and mobility). The higher education institutions in each of Canada's
three territories—Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, and Yukon—are distinct and
reflect the history, structure, and aspirations of each
