Group 1 and Group 2 of students were given a WebQuest project to complete. Group 2 was provided additional task scaffolding and guidance on the website structure. The results showed that Group 2 acquired more relevant knowledge, produced higher quality projects, and spent more time engaged with the relevant sections of the website. Group 1 was more likely to navigate away from the assigned materials. The study provides insight into how additional guidance and structure can better support students' knowledge acquisition when completing web-based learning activities.
