4. An autonomous and not-for-profit institute.
Set up in 1983.
Sponsored by the IDBI Bank Ltd., IFCI Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd. and State BANK
Of India (SBI).
EDI has helped set up twelve state-level exclusive Entrepreneureship development
centers and institutes.

5. Entrepreneurship has been taken to schools, colleges, science and technology
institutions and management schools in the water performance sector by including
entrepreneurship in their curriculam.
The University Grants Commission appointed the EDI as an expert agency to
develop a curriculum on Entrepreneurship.
In the international area, the development of entrepreneurship by sharing
resources and organising training programmes, have helped the EDI earn support
from the World Bank, Commonwealth Secretariat, UNIDO, ILO, FNSt, British
Council, Ford Foundation, European Union and other agencies.
The institute has carried out the task assigned by the Ministry of External Affairs
(India), to set up Entrepreneurship Development Centers in Cambodia, Lao PDR,
Myanmar and Vietnam. The institute is working towards creating ED Centers in
Uzbekistan and Kazhakistan.

6. The institute is located close to Ahmedabad Airport at the
village Bhat in Gandhi nagar District.
The government of Gujarat pledged twenty-three (23)
acres of land on which stands the EDI campus.
Its buildings, designed by Bimal Hasmukh Patel, are set
in a 23-acre (93,000 m2) lush green campus and received
the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 1992.

10. Courses
Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Business Entrepreneurship (PGDM-
BE) : Two-year, full-time, residential programme at the EDI, has been designed for
entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial managers.
Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Development Studies (PGDM-DS) :
Designed as a broad and multi-disciplinary focused programme to equip students
with knowledge, analytical and conceptual skills of social and economic
development. It prepares students with ability to provide entrepreneurial solutions
to social problems, livelihoods for rural and urban poor , corporate social
responsibilty initiatives and creating social enterprises.
